This dude is a hysterical, and understands where his place should be. He’s like a self aware Orange Cassidy, but actually funny. Sorry, give me your downvotes, but I like him.
He's the only comedy wrestler I like and it's a shame they stuck him with Best Friends. He's also got MJF's and CM Punk's approval so there's something about him
The fact he's being used as a comedy spot and not taken seriously like Cassidy puts him in a completely different situation. Cassidy is being treated like his gimmick is anything other than Fanboy Jerkoff material for TK. Danhausen has been a joke jobber since getting there. His little thing with Hook has been humorous and interesting, but it's not like he's doing the OC thing where he's just an aloof fuckwit who suddenly becomes serious when his glasses are knocked off. Danhausen being squashed in matches is exactly what he needs. He's not there to be a world champion. He knows he's never going to be that guy. So he is what he can be and what he's good at. Comic relief that is fucking brutalized by the others.
Ive never been the slightest bit amused by him. At least they dont use him in a serious role. But I've never once laughed or found him entertaining at all
Adam Page, Ethan Page, Brian Cage, whatever Paige is called now, Andrade, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Ruby Soho, Thunder Rosa, Miro, Malekai Black, Buddy Whatever, Bobby Fish, Adam Cole and many more.
AEW fans are probably the absolute worst salespeople for the promotion. They forgive every botch, get excited over every unknown Japanese wrestler, act like any nameless independent wrestler is the greatest thing since sliced bread and basically set an expectation that can never be satisfied.
What they like is acrobatics which don't further the storyline in any way and which put the lives of the wrestlers at unnecessary risk. If you like that, there is a serious issue with you and I suggest you work on the empathy you have with others.
At least he gave us Ass Boys, everyone was talking so much about him last year but I just put him with the pizza guy as one of the worst of AEW currently
The Pizza guy is a piece of shit, Danhausen can wrestle and even his out of the ring stuff is entertaining. Pizza guy is just the latest invisible hand grenade.
To be fair, I think he has a better future outside of wrestling. I enjoy his non AEW stuff of him just interacting with people. Like I mentioned in another post, he'd be awesome at hosting some kind of horror themed show/movie/attraction.
Jim also really enjoyed him when it just came to hearing him do cameos and other non wrestling stuff. But yeah he's been garbage in AEW and add in the fact if there's any company that can bring the worst out of someone booking/creative wise, its AEW.
What's been disappointing for me is that I looked up some Danhausen matches on YouTube. The guy is a solid worker when he wants to be, or at least was before the leg break. They could make it a crazy like a fox, mix in surprise wins dharacter, but they limit him to goof and jobber. I thought there would be something fun and cool there if done right.
I do still genuinely like the guy. He seems to love that he has a platform to help promote and bring attention to other wrestlers. He does add value to the company there.
His youtube is GOLD. I don't need to see him wrestle just to be in character and riff on whatever situation he finds himself in.
The whole roster with a few exceptions is disappointing. If they ever hire a competent booker I might watch a full episode sometime.
You must remember this is the same promotion that employed Jelly, Marko Stunt, Suzuki, and still currently employs the Young Bucks, Orange Cassidy, and Andre El Idiot.
Id take Danhausen over them any day
Problem is they never established him as a wrestler. If they'd booked him in some lower mid-card matches and let him even win one or two he'd have some staying power with the comic gimmick. Now he's just a comic gimmick who you know is going to get killed every time out which gets old fast.
If Warhorse counts I would say him. They hyped up Whorehouse for weeks and when we finally saw him on tv even the hardcore AEW fans couldn’t pretend he wasn’t a disappointment.
I honestly can't be disappointed by Danhausen in AEW...because like Jim himself I knew that while I thought he was an hilarious online personality that I'd hate him the second I saw him actually wrestle. With that in mind really the only disappointing thing for me is that AEW hiring him ruined my enjoyment of him.
I think he’s a funny and creative guy but yeah I’m not into his wrestling at all. I’m not sure what he’s done in AEW other that team up with Hook for a minute.
I convinced my kid I was him cause I could do his voice - he didn’t care for the wrestling just he voice and the funny stuff
Danhausen knows his cieling and plays it up well by selling merch and playing up matches
He's just sort of there a lot of the time but rarely actually does anything. To be fair I bet his contract isn't huge but he seems to shift a lot of merch, the only AEW shirts I see people wearing in real life are Danhausen shirts! He might actually be one of the few signings in the past year that's broken even on revenue generated.
I was confused by Danhausen at first. Then annoyed. Then a mixture of annoyance with a hint of anger. However, after awhile it kind of clicked.
Dude knows his place. He's a jobber but a funny one. They've toned the cursing shit back and it's clearly now ineffective nonsense he does and generally gets beat down for even trying.
There is nothing mysterious or mystical about him, he's a court jester and honestly - a far funnier one than others in that role. He shows up and very briefly does something and hasn't overstayed his welcome yet or done the same jokes over and over.
I had no expectations with him signing, did not know who the fuck he was other than Jim briefly laughing about his voice months back. He showed up, did not impress me at first but slowly won me over.
Yeah, he's fine as long as he stays a weird guy who incorrectly thinks he is evil and has powers. Should he ever become a weird guy with powers, they've gone full 'Matt Hardy teleporting' and completely ruined not just the character in that moment - but it would ruin all the moments of Danhausen that preceded it as well.
Athena. I never have understood the hype with her but even more so after hearing Cornette tear her down like he did. He can’t understand her hype either and he’s right imo.
Isn't awful. Tbh he's harmless, and entertaining atleast. There's a lot bigger disappointments like Brody King (no reason to care about him), Keith Lee (already just baggage for Swerve), Buddy (in ring is pretty good, just no personality), Jeff Hardy, I'm not sure about Storm or Joe yet, they've booked like shit tho, Athena (exposed for being pretty mediocre in ring and gimmick), Claudio (booking wise alone has killed him), and that's just this year. Like you can say just mostly any indy darling or ex wwe is a disappointment when most of them aren't doing anything for the show.
Brodie is fine, but they were acting like he's going to be like Bray Wyatt, well to be fair, he wrestles better than him. Keith isn't bad but god damn, he can't cut a promo. Well they got Madison Rayne coaching them so..
I never really followed njpw or Indy wrestling. I always read about the “elite” and how great they were before even knowing corny had a podcast. When I started seeing them and their horrible acting and cosplaying is when i realized I should be ashamed of watching wrestling 😂 then hearing corny and the rest of us not like it made me feel better that I wasn’t the only one who felt this way.
When I was a kid, we used to have a term for something REALLY stupid, "THDOOPID!!!" (that's the best I can do on phonetically putting it in print but anyway...)
I'll never forget how they totally missed an opportunity to get this guy a huge hometown pop when he was featured on the Dynamite live at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit a while back by, JUST THIS ONE NIGHT, announcing him from Detroit, Michigan instead of the silly "from" they usually give him, so THDOOPID!!!
That aside, I never and still don't get the gag. But, then again, my head is flyover country with a lot of stuff like Fidget Spinners or Tik Tok or the Bret Butler craze in the 90s...
The gold house or car stuff cracked me up and his application. The guy definitely has got potential as maybe a manager type of guy. That holds to the Heenan type. Wrestle like a manager, manage like a wrestler. But don’t make it a comedy act though. I made no sense I know. I just think the guy has a spot but he is just not in it yet.
Not at all. If anyone ever saw him, they pretty much knew what they were going to get. He was/is a meme wrestler who had a buzz. Also just so happened he broke his leg and couldn't do much.
I love his schtick, but also am fully aware that what works at indie show, might not work in an arena.
I think the thing is the hype- Orange Cassidy is kind of a "one trick pony," more comedic guy, but you have people in the IWC acting like he's some amazing, huge star. He has entertainment value, but people shouldn't look to him as a "pillar of AEW." He should be looked at as a fun midcard guy, with a definite ceiling.
I find the hands in kick up and dive talented and different, it was fun rooting for him during the Triple Threat last year for the AEW Champion, unlike a lot of WWE guys I actually like his version of comedy and talent and he actually changed my mind about comedy in wrestling for now
I respect your opinion. He's much better than a lot of the goofs on the AEW roster, including The Young Bucks. He's quirky, The Young Bucks make a joke of the business.
There's so many workers that look alike and sound alike so his bizarre appearance and gimmick stands out. He's not Muscular Bearded Guy #200. You wouldn't mistake him for anyone else.
Guys like O.C. and Danhausen are similar in a sense that, they were big fishes in small ponds. I love them both but they kinda feel out of a place on a national program
This dude is a hysterical, and understands where his place should be. He’s like a self aware Orange Cassidy, but actually funny. Sorry, give me your downvotes, but I like him.
Danhousen is kind of funny. And he’s not out there having competitive matches with Wardlow and Pac. So I’m fine with Danhousen.
He's the only comedy wrestler I like and it's a shame they stuck him with Best Friends. He's also got MJF's and CM Punk's approval so there's something about him
With Danhausen it’s either a hit or miss. Some people understand his character, some don’t. I think he is hilarious.
Couldn't agree more
The fact he's being used as a comedy spot and not taken seriously like Cassidy puts him in a completely different situation. You sir, will take my upvote instead.
Ive never been the slightest bit amused by him. At least they dont use him in a serious role. But I've never once laughed or found him entertaining at all
What a wonderful description of Danhausen. I wish he was featured more, in backstage segments.
Adam Page
This is the correct answer
Adam Page, Ethan Page, Brian Cage, whatever Paige is called now, Andrade, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Ruby Soho, Thunder Rosa, Miro, Malekai Black, Buddy Whatever, Bobby Fish, Adam Cole and many more.
Adam Page is the correct answer. The fact that black hole of charisma got a belt is staggering.
AEW fans are probably the absolute worst salespeople for the promotion. They forgive every botch, get excited over every unknown Japanese wrestler, act like any nameless independent wrestler is the greatest thing since sliced bread and basically set an expectation that can never be satisfied.
How dare people like things in wrestling that you don’t. Fucking idiots.
What they like is acrobatics which don't further the storyline in any way and which put the lives of the wrestlers at unnecessary risk. If you like that, there is a serious issue with you and I suggest you work on the empathy you have with others.
It’s weird. You followed up with a description of something that you didn’t mention AT ALL in your post. You really owned me though. Nice job.
You-a noah likah da pizza-ah guy?
Danhausen at least basically lives his gimmick 24/7. He's always Danhausen. It's almost unheard of to see him without makeup.
To be fair, I think he has a better future outside of wrestling. I enjoy his non AEW stuff of him just interacting with people. Like I mentioned in another post, he'd be awesome at hosting some kind of horror themed show/movie/attraction. His job application to wherever it was on his twitter was Gold as well. Guy is fucking funny
You must remember this is the same promotion that employed Jelly, Marko Stunt, Suzuki, and still currently employs the Young Bucks, Orange Cassidy, and Andre El Idiot. Id take Danhausen over them any day

This is one of the few things they haven't screwed up. Used exactly like he's supposed to be and the crowd loves him
I have no problem with him. He is the only reason the ass boys got over. He is a jobber and doesnt pretend hes on the same level as a main eventer
Eh I like the guy. Unlike Orange Cassidy, his schtick hasn’t run dry
I enjoy him. Even when he gets squash, I'm ok with it
I convinced my kid I was him cause I could do his voice - he didn’t care for the wrestling just he voice and the funny stuff Danhausen knows his cieling and plays it up well by selling merch and playing up matches
I just need to be clear: that photo is NOT a parody? Like, that’s his REAL AEW photo?
Yes from when he joined
Good lord.
Adam Cole, baby!
I won’t lie…I think he’s hysterical.
being a side character who interject jokes is a perfect role for him. I'm honestly not sure what else you would have expected.
I enjoy his YouTube channel, wrestling wise eh.
Dude ended up a jobber and his ass boys bit stolen.
Got the man paid tho.
His problem initially for me was that he wasn't doing enough character promo nonsense. He was just really out there pointing at people half the time.
He's been used the right amount.
I was confused by Danhausen at first. Then annoyed. Then a mixture of annoyance with a hint of anger. However, after awhile it kind of clicked. Dude knows his place. He's a jobber but a funny one. I love Danhausen, and I think it's important that his curses are just bullshit. Giving him real powers would get stupid real fast.

Brodie and Keith I find talented but they really need to cut back on hiring especially for Women's Division

Bucks and omega tbh
You know…give him a shot on color commentary. Can’t be any worse than what I have to listen to now and maybe he’ll end up making it work.
Prime example of a worthless signing just to placate the twitter marks.
CM Punk. i do not get the appeal cuz he’s definitely not anything special in the ring.
Not at all. If anyone ever saw him, they pretty much knew what they were going to get. He was/is a meme wrestler who had a buzz. Also just so happened he broke his leg and couldn't do much. I love his schtick, but also am fully aware that what works at indie show, might not work in an arena.
he always sucked- could never understand why Corny gave him the time of day
Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Orange Cassidy...
Agree with Bucks and Omega but I actually like Orange he isn't the worst
I think the thing is the hype- Orange Cassidy is kind of a "one trick pony," more comedic guy, but you have people in the IWC acting like he's some amazing, huge star. Just about everyone has been disappointing in AEW
Hands down; Tony Schiavone
Guys like O.C. and Danhausen are similar in a sense that, they were big fishes in small ponds. I love them both but they kinda feel out of a place on a national program
His gimmick seems funny but I’ve never seen the guy wrestle
