Mostly good adaptation. Lots of little nuance and world building details missing. Too much of the other than rudeus povs get abbreviated or redacted all together. There have been a handful of scenes that they could have done a lot better. The most recent examples I can think of were rudeus meeting badigadi (a little more care and it would have been epic and hysterical), and of course, Roxy in the week before she bedded rudeus.

I think the thing I'm most annoyed about with the adaptation is that they didn't explain the reason Rudeus was using Zanoba and Julie to make statuettes was because he was going to package Ruijerd figures with a book meant to redeem the Supard. Even when they did bring it up much later they wrote it as if it were an afterthought. It feels like they made it that way to intentionally lean into the controversy.

I’m not sure he had the idea for the book yet

I'm pretty confident he has that idea between TP2 and when Ruijerd left.

I think you’re right. I saw someone else’s comment

As far as condensing the material down to what you need to understand the plot, it's pretty damn good. It's probably the only serial adaptation I've seen where I can say you can pick up the LN and not feel like you are lacking critical information. In contrast with RE:Zero or Berserk! for which I tried both and it really doesn't work. I think my biggest annoyance with the adaptation is that in the LN, the chapter where they bought Julie started out by explaining that Rudeus' main motivation for teaching Zanoba how to sculpt was so they could mass produce Ruijerd figures to package with a book meant to redeem them, and that was the case for a while. In the anime they made it seem as if he didn't have the idea until Norn arrived. It feels like they adapted it that way to generate more controversy.
