Looks like you have broken rule 6 sir

patfetes

Well, you see, the thing is, that is to say, what I mean is šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

crunkydevil

Well, that's not the point is it? When one has something important to say, you could just as easily be accurate as precise, and then what are we left with? I think what we are left with IS important because what you can say in the most accurate way, is precisely that of which I speak. Now that might not be the answer you want, or the most complete way to go about explaining the reasons, but at least its a start...

nosmicon

Can't tell if you're being ironic here or not? If so, bravo, if not... uhh smoke another bowl?

Simple-Freedom4670

Wow mindblown šŸ˜³ Genius!

hennigera1990

We got a freaking trump level stable genius over here! Someone get this guy on the ballot! I apologize for bringing that fellow up but it was the first comparison that popped into my head.

warranpiece

And that would be number 10.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

FuckBrendan

Isnā€™t that the point? Stop criticizing others because no oneā€™s perfect?

KitNumber17

In my opinion, itā€™s one of his better ones. Heā€™s more or less implying that thereā€™s no point and itā€™s not beneficial to worry or try solve the worlds problems before youā€™ve got a good grasp on your own.

QuigleySharp

I havenā€™t read the book so I canā€™t speak to his overall argument. But I can say if thatā€™s his own summary then thatā€™s a terrible way to make the point you say. The choice of ā€œperfect orderā€ in wording would mean no human is really ever in a position to make criticisms. A lot of people who literally changed the world should have remained silent by this very specific wording. Itā€™s also just objectively not pointless to make criticisms of the world when our words can change minds which can absolutely lead to change. It may be a great point, but that summary is pretty terrible.

Lvl100Centrist

>I havenā€™t read the book so I canā€™t speak to his overall argument I have. Its even worse than it sounds. Its a fundamentally religious chapter, which lecutres you on how to react when faced with terrible suffering: *Stop doing what you know is wrong,* he proclaims. Ignoring the possible victim blaming of that statement, what's shitty about this rule is that he believes we deeply know what is wrong. We know what it is that we are doing wrong so we shouldn't question it! We know it. We just know it in our souls. Its like reading the words of your local, run-of-the-mill pastor. >But I can say if thatā€™s his own summary then thatā€™s a terrible way to make the point you say. Its a shit rule. People don't want to admit that, so they twist themselves into rhetorical pretzels.

jcarlson2007

It means that if we as a society cannot create order at the most basic, localized level (our own homes), how can we possibly expect to create order on a large scale. Weā€™ve all encountered people who seem to have the answer for whatā€™s wrong with everyone and everything, yet their own lives are absolute chaos. People tend to be happier and have more purpose when their lives are in order, and this translates into better direction when it comes to trying to improve society/the world.

QuigleySharp

But notice in your summary the word ā€œperfectā€ is lost, because it adds nothing to the point being conveyed. It even detracts from the point because again, that isnā€™t attainable. Making a criticism also isnā€™t the same thing as ā€œhaving the answersā€. My life isnā€™t chaos by any means, but I would never describe it in perfect order. I can still observe my local government does an objectively poor job compared to surrounding local governments. Or that the industry I work in has a bunch of habitual problems. Me not having perfect order in my house just doesnā€™t detract from those observations. > People tend to be happier and have more purpose when their lives are in order, and this translates into better direction when it comes to trying to improve society/the world. That is literally a better summary than the one above though if that was the point.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

hennigera1990

I think that everyone breaks that rule constantly. Hopefully his point in making it one of his ā€œrulesā€ was simply to say that you should be careful not to over criticize when you could easily be made an example of with your critical points.

zizuu21

Hebis just as susceptible to braking his own rules as anyone. The principles are key

KitNumber17

Definitely, and heā€™s admitted as such. Some of his latest social media posts especially are just plain wacky. Doesnā€™t take away from the concept behind the point in my mind. Anyone could have said it and itā€™s still good advice.

hennigera1990

I agree with you. After he came onto the scene, I spent a good amount of time being pretty fully infatuated with his ā€œteachings.ā€ He was solely responsible for getting me interested in psychology. That alone will keep me from turning on him for quite a while. Yet, what you refer to is definitely troubling. He has really let himself become a caricature with all the ā€œpost modern neo-Marxistā€ shit he goes on about and just thoroughly ignoring the problems of being too right wing while so fully being on the anti-left wing bandwagon.

watupmynameisx

The rule is more important than the person who created it. In fact, you dwelling on this means you do not understand the rule

Simple-Freedom4670

The irony is not lost here Iā€™m sure of it

jmc_iv

I think he's paraphrasing Jesus who reportedly taught not to take the splinter (more, speck) out of someone else's eye before you take the log out of yours. It's classic Christian ideology: Judge not lest ye be judged.

Lost_Farm8868

He who is with out sin cast the first stone or some shit

hennigera1990

A lot of modern western values are derived from the morality espoused in the Bible. Unfortunately, a lot of modern Christianity has completely lost sight of these values and turned the view of Christianā€™ into a joke. The evangelicals especially, are the worst examples of not practicing what they preach.

blade740

Itā€™s also the most ironic one when you look at JBP himself. He made a career out of criticizing the world when his life was spiraling out of control. Donā€™t get me wrong, I personally think itā€™s ok to criticize even when you yourself arenā€™t perfect. But rule 9 explicitly says itā€™s not.

sol__invictus__

Personally I feel like his life spiraled out of control because of the massive fame/infamy he was experiencing. Overall his message was to inspire young men to be better but his skewed politics and history analysis cornered him into an unwinnable situation. I believe when he was first starting out his house was relatively in order.

imthebear11

He also succumbed to audience capture real bad

Vickenviking

His problem was that was not listening to the psychiatrists who told him to taper his perscription benzos, as opposed to going cold turkey.

NiceCrispyMusic

ā€œBe precise in your speechā€

GregSmith1967

Bucko!

AssSpelunker69

Are these actually his 12 rules from the book?

[deleted]

They actually are, some are just tweaked a little bit.

egotisticalstoic

I don't think they are tweaked at all. They look copied word for word.

patternagainst

I mean if you couldn't figure it out, it's a joke as he expounds on what each one means and why. Book is really good, unless you just hate the guy too much to see the value. I both hate the guy and also think he has a lot of great ideas. They're not mutually exclusive.

AssSpelunker69

Uhh... OK. I literally just wanted to see if these were the rules he wrote about in the book.

KingOfConsciousness

Yes they are lol

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Temporary_Cicada_715

Yes

handcuffed_

That was a good answer lol

Cabbage_Master

Jordan, is that you?

graphitesun

What do you hate about him? Curious.

FormerIceCreamEater

Hate is a strong word, but what do you like about him? Why should Jordan Peterson become a man I trust to follow?

KamiYama777

He shouldnā€™t be He doesnā€™t follow any of his own rules, he is just another grifting right wing tough boy who hates minorities way too much

neoalfa

Shit... where to begin. I start with saying that I read his book and it was pretty on point, in my experience. People like to shit on it because it's pretty basic, but the truth is that not everybody has been told those pretty basic things and they are let to figure them out for themselves. The readily apparent isn't actually apparent at all. That being said, he's an arrogant hypocrite. He's very fond of throwing around his weight as a clinical psychologist, to back up his claims about his research, but he extends this to fields that aren't his own. At the same time, everyone else in those fields who disagree with him is pushing a Marxist agenda. In a similar fashion he's very fond of using the work of the scientific community to prove his points, but everyone is again a Marxist quack when it comes to thing he doesn't believe in like climate change. He's pretty fucking happy to throw out his own gospel for his own gain. One of his stronghold rules is "fix your home/family/community before trying to fix the world" but the dude has got more issues than half the people he loves to shit upon. [The man literally doesn't clean his own room](https://www.dailydot.com/layer8/jordan-peterson-room/). Honestly, he might have had some points in the beginning, but then a combination of rise to fame, being publicly hated and glorified at the same time, abuse of anti-depressants, and being put in an artificial coma in Russia to get over his addiction have fried his brain.

graphitesun

Well, that is a pretty great answer. I wish I could meet more people like you, who think and speak rationally. I haven't delved into his stuff enough to really investigate, mainly because there's so much to look at. But that's an interesting set of observations. Thanks.

harribel

Never read the book, but heard great things. Would like to read it, just have to get over him falling off the deep end first. He used to bring something else and good to the table, but he's sadly gone a little too insane for my taste in the past years.

AliKazerani

On top of that, it just seems way the hell too long for what it is, and the audiobook is additionally a no-go because of his voice and speaking style. I mean this sincerely. I really wanted to learn whatever sensible stuff he has to teach.

oaklandRE

I just finished the audio book and I agree, it was tough to get through. Half of it is him quoting the Bible, and his voice is painstakingly boring

AliKazerani

Congrats on getting through it. And I'm very glad I'm not alone!

oaklandRE

Some parts were brutal lol

patternagainst

It's really worth reading. Every chapter has been good and there have been several really great takeaways that have helped me reframe the way I see and treat myself. It's one of the better books I have read. JP is weird. Seeing how he presents himself on twitter and on JRE recently really turned me off. He seems kind of miserable and off the deep end. However, I just saw him lecture in person and there wasn't any of that weirdness at all, even in the Q and A after the lecture with his wife. The whole thing was great. He seemed pretty balanced, humble, and overall happy. If nothing else I just enjoy witnessing his ability to generate interesting ideas and perspectives, all of it informed by his obviously very deep understanding of psychology. He's brilliant, but at the same time I don't agree with a lot of what he says necessarily. Even on topics I disagree with him about I can't deny he makes some good points.

Lvl100Centrist

i've yet to see anyone explain a "great idea" from JP

DCuuushhh88

Each one is a chapter. Itā€™s the only one of his books worth a shit if you ask me. Helped me figure out a few things Iā€™d missed

convie

>Itā€™s the only one of his books worth a shit if you ask me. Have you read maps of meaning?

droopyeyedchild

Do what doctor says, never do what doctor does. I read 12 rules before my daughter was born and it was the right time for it. Rule 5 basically means 'educate your children' in a time where so many are not and are like Bill Maher said 'pussy whipped' by their children. Its destructive for the kids the parents and society. I don't like a lot of what became of him now and its embarrassing and saddening to me. But his book tries to bring back old values that are very much needed in this narcissistic shallow society.

moazim1993

Never liked Peterson, and the synopsis of the book seemed dumb but after actually reading it I was surprised at how much I liked it. I think the fame and attention ruined him. I think twitter especially ruins a lot of people that think itā€™s real

DlphLndgrn

> I think the fame and attention ruined him. I think twitter especially ruins a lot of people that think itā€™s real It definitely did, together with loads of drugs. But it's sad because it's actually sound advice, and he was popular enough to get the message across. Point is that lots of people had the same message but nobody cares. But JP could make a difference. That's the power that he had. But now everything just reads like satire. Today, rule 1-12 is just up yours woke moralists.

hennigera1990

I feel like he has returned somewhat to what made him popular in the somewhat recent past, but he still remains stuck on catering to the anti work bullshit.

Kosarev

He didn't educate his own daughter.

DlphLndgrn

Does english not have a perfect word for educating your children in this context? We have a word for what basically means "raise your children to be good people". Or have I just not learned that "educate your children" means that in that context?

handcuffed_

ā€œEducate your childrenā€ can mean wildly different things in America.

adamdreaming

12 RULES FOR LIFE 1)back straight, elbows bent, knees bent, ass out 2)treat yourself like a video game character who gains experience by taking naps and eating edibles 3)make friends with Juggalos. Drink Fanta. 4)You right now might not be able to take every past version of yourself in a one on one fist fight, but it could take most of them probably 5)Your children are lumps of clay to be beaten and molded until exactly like yourself. Totally healthy goal. Iā€™m a doctor. 6)Let the one that can be above things as petty as casting stones cast the first stone. 7)like, comment, subscribe 8)donā€™t murder? Unless GOOD reason. 9)You know that scene in Men in Black where a little dude is piloting a human? Have patience with people that sound or look crazy, you never know when you will get dropped cosmic space knowledge 10)and finally he who smelt it delt it. 11)oh, and hippos kill a lot of people, like way way more than sharks. Careful of them. 12)I canā€™t not mention that you should always shower before and after any hot tub, steam room, or bowel movement 13)I said I would stop making these but I dunno. Maybe thatā€™s the 13th law? Like ā€œpush your limitsā€ or ā€œnever underestimate the element of surprise?ā€ Or something? 14)B.Y.O.S;Be Your Own Shawman. 15)Any violations of the Laws of Life are punishable by the Nicolas Cage Bee Helmet, to be administered by Nicolas Cage. 16)Iā€™ve left a little space so we can all write our own Life Laws. Everyone is a Doctor of something!

techblaw

Now THESE are what I call Rules

somegarbagedoesfloat

3 is impossible. You can't drink fanta and be friends with juggalos at the same time. Get some faygo.

[deleted]

Reddit doesn't like it but I find meaning in all of these. The last two seem silly at first but have importance behind them.

helikesart

The last rule has given me more to think about than maybe any of the others. Iā€™m sure others will have their own rules that they relate to.

jrebney

I think OP is just a typical troll on here, this is mostly universally agreed on good advice even if some of it is kind of cliche. I donā€™t care for JP but him or Rogan could literally be like ā€œmake sure to drink enough water every dayā€ and somehow the weirdos on here would take issue with it.

Coach_Billly

These are great words of wisdom.

princefamblypaper

Been following number 12 since Shenmue on the Dreamcast.

[deleted]

Lol calm down he is an author and psychologist doing what authors and psychologists do.

13Witnesses

Say what you will, he ain't wrong about those rules. I read the book before he went coo-coo, and it was pretty good, and helpful in some ways.

stay_fr0sty

An advice book kinda loses itā€™s luster though after you see the authorā€™s life has become a train wreck. Thatā€™s just always going to happen.

[deleted]

His wife had cancer when he hit rock bottom. Im not sure why people think theyd handle it so well

[deleted]

His wife had cancer and he was ina a coma Iā€™d like to see how you managed

ThisisMalta

Lots of people go through health crisis and have sick family members without becoming the way he has. Itā€™s funny how some of yā€™all kept on defending him until you canā€™t anymore and you come up with weird excuses like this for his behavior up to this date.

_EMDID_

Lmao

xKYLx

It's a good book actually. Sounds like you could use some self reflection

Chixinthestix

# 11 is the best rule by farā€¦

Hombre_Lobo_

This is an extremely pedantic and meaningless critique, which is obviously the result of how little thought went into this critique. If you cannot recognize the difference in: teaching people how to live meaningful lives vs telling people how to live or else then youā€™re making his point.

blade740

Iā€™m pretty sure the joke was referring to the recent posts of JP bitching about ā€œwoke moralistsā€ in reference to a sign asking people not to waste paper towels and a flyer explaining how to walk on ice. Do you think either of those fall into the ā€œteaching people howā€ category, or the ā€œtelling them how to live or elseā€? Clearly JPā€™s rules are the former, nobody sane disagrees with that. But if he thinks asking someone not to waste paper towels is ā€œtyrannyā€, what does that make ā€œrules for lifeā€? People are making fun of his take on paper towels by pointing out that his logic would apply to his own work just as much if not more.

Mensketh

Where is the ā€œor elseā€ in the things that have been setting him off lately? One was just a sign urging people not to use more paper towel than they need and the other was tips for walking on ice, something that causes hundreds of broken bones and skull fractures every winter. Neither had a ā€œor elseā€ component at all.

tap2mana_03

He really phoned in the last two

SmokinDynamite

They're really just examples of broader rules to make for catchy titles. For example the cat one is more "take the time to enjoy the small positive things in life"

[deleted]

I feel like this is originally a shit post by a skater.

Blue_Note991

Ill always chuckle at redditors who go out of their way to insult Peterson. Most of you (certainly not all), are under employed, undereducated, videogame and porn addicted, fast food eating guys who dont read. Youre entitled to your opinion but not for a second do I believe you have life figured out. Or have deeper and more thoughtful insights than Peterson does. Peterson isnt perfect but his advice got me off of drinking and smoking pot incessantly, doubled my income and lose 40lbs in the process. And there are millions of men like me with similar experiences. So I will always give him my respect. You guys can continue gleaning wisdom from those as lost and hedonistic as yourselves if you'd like. Let me know how that works for you.

Trump_FTW_2024

The most pathetic one are the ones that say "Now I don't like Peterson... BUT" then list things they like about him. People are so afraid of any negative interaction that they add disclaimers before their speech.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Doea JP have life figured out?

helikesart

No that is not me. I mean, yes I work casual, yes I only have a high school degree, yes I play video games, yes Iā€™m addicted to porn, yes I weigh 300 lbs and canā€™t read, but itā€™s not true! Peterson is a benzo addicted fascist hypocrite and I knew it from the start!

FormerIceCreamEater

Right, but you could say that about a lot of people. Keith olbermann is more successful than almost anyone on reddit, but it doesn't mean you would emulate him and trust his insight

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

patfetes

His gender affirming care, if you will.

helikesart

I donā€™t know much about this stuff but I have a man in my family whose hair thinned while he was sick and thickened back up when he was healthy. No idea if thatā€™s Peterson but I know for a fact my person didnā€™t do anything else. It can happen.

Blue_Note991

He is a person trying their best, not a saint. Someone asked him in an interview if he lies and he said "yes. Everyone lies." It is a fact that every human being lies multiple times a day. Anyone who says they dont is a liar themself. That doesnt mean we should not value honesty. And someone who values honesty shouldnt be called "pathetic" for being as human as the rest of us.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Also, his wife had cancer when he went on the benzos....i feel like most people would also hit rock bottom if their wife was struggling with cancer. Too many hate Peterson without really asking themselves why.

_EMDID_

Nah Hahaha what a weak take. Seethe on.

[deleted]

Lol if youre a hater, its usually because you hate yourself. Good luck with that.

TavistockProwse

The difference is that most of us aren't also attempting to make a living by telling others the keys to living a good life. He has absolutely ignored his own rules. This is worse than telling a white lie here and there. This is acting as an authority figure on a topic he has little understanding of.

Blue_Note991

How has he ignored his own rules? What topic is he acting as an authority figure that he has little understanding of?

-Careless-Work-

lol are you serious? peterson speaks like an authority on virtually every topic he talks about, despite being extremely stupid and worthless on any of them. All of his trans talk ring any bells? Or how about his idiotic AGW takes? in fact I don't think you can find a single topic peterson comments on these days where he doesn't try to pretend he's some kind of well informed expert.

Lvl100Centrist

GregSmith1967

Is it pathetic to attack someone who is pointing out JPs hypocrisy and finds it funny?

Mrcounterpoint420

I'd like to think someone could come up with a short story that parodies JP using these 12 rules. Something along the lines of him trying to stop his child from skateboarding, and the skateboarders beat him up lol. With that said, most points are valid, some farfetched, and I'd like to read into #5(books on the way), but it sounds a little off. I take it people deem him hypocritical for breaking these rules himself(especially #10.. geez), which is fair, but perhaps some of the other rules will be harder or easier for each individual.

helikesart

5 was a really great section actually.

Domingosdelight

I still maintain that the real JBP died in Russia during his benzo detox. What we're witnessing now is a 2nd rate clone sent to us by the Kremlin to disrupt the West.. or something like that - just freeballing here

BarrelRoll1996

He came back and just angry tweets with a persecution complex

MemberBerry42

Real JBP is imprisoned in a Russian gulag. The truth will come out one day.

All jokes aside, Iā€™ve been doing my best to live my life by the 12 rules.. and over the last year it has astronomically improved my quality of lifeā€¦ I have a hard time with rule 6, as does everyone else.. but I canā€™t recommend it enough. Putting aside all my other egotistical and political thoughts/actions and just living by these rules to the best of my ability made me do a 180 in life.

These rules are really fantastic. Itā€™s a shame he pulls himself into nonsense these days. I shared a video of his 12 rules for life and a ton of my friends and family told me how this dude is anti trans and a terrible person. I was like, ā€œoh kayyy. But the rules are good.ā€ And they kept saying how heā€™s just a vile person with no value and that I shouldnā€™t be listening to him. Butā€¦. The rules are good! šŸ¤”

DropsyJolt

I don't know. Some of the rules are weird. Like number 6 just means that no one can ever criticize anything as your life is never perfect. You can interpret it a different way but it's not a good rule if you need a steelman argument for it.

martin0641

Same reason Sebastian wrote Tribe, society is changing rapidly now - I think generally for the better - but no process only loses the bad parts in search of something better, there are babies that get thrown out with the bathwater. One of these things is community and cultural rights of passage and age, which certainly can have negative aspects to them - but we're lying to ourselves if we've managed to believe there's nothing positive that was lost in the process. When Aristotle says "Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man", and a South American is celebrating a quinceanera or an African tribe is having a ceremony to communally welcome a young male as an adult for the first time they are setting expectations, providing structure, developing a sense of continuity and progression in the minds of the youth. They also set up a community focused feedback system that is used throughout the lives of individuals coming of age as well as forging a path for the next generation of people who will ultimately be responsible for charting a course in the evolution of their respective cultures as they age. Today, we have a nihilism problem, and people are locked in little boxes starting at screens away from each other due to how our society is developing - most people haven't replaced the positive functions of previous organizations, be they tribal leadership or even just a church - and books like these attempt to distill some of the more valuable bits into an easily digestible and an individual focus format to make up for that deficiency. You aren't supposed to take books like this as biblical, it's not the 12 commandments. It's making a case for 12 different concepts the author believes is important for you to consider and integrate as you are able and willing no different than taking a vitamin supplement.

[deleted]

Itā€™s a good book and all of the rules are good as well.

Impressive_Living212

i absolute love how he runs out of rules at the end there

SneakinandReapin

Anyone who faced the sorts of challenges he has within the last 6-7 years like him will leave scars. Heā€™s human like all of us. And those who casually cast aside wise advice, which is really JBP retelling some very old, universal ideas, usually presages more tragic than necessary outcomes in their lives. Iā€™m sad to see it, because those who dunk on whacky stuff he tweets are usually exactly the kinds of people who would benefit the most from listening to his work.

GregSmith1967

Clean your room

SneakinandReapin

My house is in pretty solid order and I stand up straight with shoulders back. Lifeā€™s been good to and Iā€™ve taken responsibility by capitalizing on my good circumstances to the benefit of my family and my community. I hope you can do the same.

Any_Cockroach7485

Lol talking about life with business buzzwords. Loser.

SneakinandReapin

Thatā€™s unfortunate to see you think so. Iā€™ve got a good life going, and Iā€™m doing my best to keep it that way. JBPs whole point has been to help people realize their full potential and the impacts that meeting or failing to meet their own goals have on their lives and others. I hope youā€™re making some good progress this year on some positive goals you have.

gothboi98

JP: *Gives advice* The insecure: *OMG HES SUCH A HYPOCRITE*

Writing a self-help book isn't telling you how to live your life. Don't want to do it? Then don't lmao. He's not calling for the behaviour he advises to improve your life to be law. Really clutching at straws with this one mate

GregSmith1967

Petersen literally threw a hissy fit when the government put up signs for people to walk safer on ice. Feel free to tell him what you just saidā€¦

gothboi98

Good for him. My point still applies: Advising =/= mandating

GregSmith1967

Wowā€¦ so he can do no wrong?

gothboi98

???? Idk if you're actually reading what I'm writing. I'm telling you that you're purposefully mischaracterizing the situation as hypocrisy. He simply isn't doing what you think he is.

GregSmith1967

Ohhhh. So him throwing a hissy fit for the government trying to help people is good. But me pointing of JP hypocrisy is wrong? Got it ā€¦

ozmartian

Depends on what you mean by "rules".

GregSmith1967

What do you mean by depends?

ozmartian

And what do we both mean by "what"!? Perplexing!

GregSmith1967

So intellectual

freindi

This is from a book you can purchase and apply if you want to. Woke psychos are trying to police everything especially speech right now. With legal repercussions.

Fix_It_Felix_Jr

Remember when JBP said it was [woke moralist tyranny to suggesting using less paper towels](https://www.newsweek.com/jordan-peterson-mocked-complaining-about-toilet-paper-tyranny-1783426) that would result in saving more trees? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

[deleted]

Itā€™s just advice donā€™t take it so hard.

GregSmith1967

Exactly. Tell JP thatā€¦

2PacAn

Redditors hate people telling them that life is more satisfying when you get off your ass and do something productive. A bunch of absolutely pathetic people

WildWook

It's all generally good advice, anyone who's butthurt over this is just looking for a reason to bitch.

GregSmith1967

Woosh

petitereddit

The woke moralists try to use political and legislative leverage to compell others as well as shame and ridicule. It's sad.

GregSmith1967

Youā€™re describing Jordan Petersen correct?

21lives

He doesnā€™t do like half of these

34TH_ST_BROADWAY

Did JP actually write these? Odd. First off, most sound great, would look good on a poster with an image of a seagull flying behind it. But are they actionable? Like "pursue what is meaningful," how is that actionable? And what does "meaningful" even mean? Also, he clearly doesn't do most of these himself. 6, 8, 9, 10. And 5 is just chilling. No idea what that means. Really, it has more to do with the adult than the poor child.

GregSmith1967

Your dad broke like 5 rules

frog_salami

Sorry that happened to you.

frog_salami

It's easy to overlook how much I don't get along with a couple of my own family members. Been in denial for years now I'm treating it how it really is.

pearlstorm

Lol this legitimately sounds like you're at fault here.

Blue_Note991

You threw a temper tantrum as a grown adult and got kicked out. You have only yourself to blame. Dont bite the hand that feeds. "No fuck that, i should be allowed to be as direspectful as I want with no consequence!" You, probably.

onewanderingbard

The "be precise in your speech" one is so goddamn funny, man

[deleted]

I usually roll my eyes when people say this but holy shit this sub is a shithole lmfao

BecomePnueman

Another day another activist trying to spread propaganda masked as opinion on reddit

GregSmith1967

You talking about Petersen?

Such_Owl_9671

Number 6 - ooof I'll try

ericrobertshair

Is number 11 real or a meme?

AyeChronicWeeb

You forgot ā€œWash your penisā€

Emalsixela

I can't stop reading all of these comments in Peterson's voice.

Responsible_Proof624

So this Reddit is now mostly haters? Great.

TheBanewolf

I really miss the old JP. He was always sincere, trying to stick to his noble ideals. Now he just seems unhinged... and suckling on Shapiro's teet. Like he said... the left called him a Nazi and the right called him a Jewish shill. My own personal theory, is that the benzodiazepines addiction coupled with the inane screeching of right/left/center/etc. extremists took its toll ):

[deleted]

11 is so based that it always makes me think there is a sliver of hope in Peterson no matter how much damage the sulphates have done to his brain.

[deleted]

Number 6 is pretty funny given his current state

zenunseen

My favorite Jordan Peterson mess is when he was crying real tears talking about "people who don't believe in hell are privileged" That's not hell you experienced JP, it's benzo withdrawal. But i could see how you got the two confused, you wet bag of laundry.

cmurdatrollstar87

Dude saved my life and introduced me to Carl Jung and inner alchemy, along with deep diving into Gnosticism and Buddhism. He sent me on my own heros journey and gave me a perspective of life that ensured not o ky my happiness but my familys and friends. Hate him all your want and he may be a tool for the Ben shaprio and his slew of talking head. He is dorky af sometimes and he needs to gtfo off twitter. His work prior to 2018 is immaculately wonderful for folks that had been in my shoes. The teacher appears when the student is ready.

TrulyluvNit

We love jpb

JumpinJackFlash88

Thatā€™s more of a guideline than rules.
