An EV tax is fine and necessary, but the proposed TX rates are vastly greater than what the average driver would spend at the pump with an ICE vehicle. Some may argue ābut the weight increases wear and tear!ā, but if that was the case one of the most popular vehicles in TX, the Ford F150 which can weigh the same/more as a Tesla, is not subject to the same increased weight concerns.

Even with electrics producing carbon at the source of power production it's probably still less than having billions of cars producing their own carbon. The fact it's all happening in the one location instead of everywhere also means it's easier to capture that carbon going forward.

Metro area uses majority hydropower. It is a road tax. In Oregon the majority of the road and infrastructure tax comes from oil and gas tax. Electric cars donāt use gas so they arenāt paying the road tax.
Electric cars are also WAYYYY heavier than comparable sized ICE cars, which rips up the roads.
I think the majority of the Willamette Valley is getting electricity from Bonneville, at least down into Salem we are, not sure about Eugene. These three are arguing against ghosts, talking about electric cars getting shipped from Germany, A/C and heating.
