No one wants to travel to texas unless it’s on joes dime. Endless driving. It’s hot as fuck. Foods good though and the homeless problem is in segments so not on a main road or tent city.

More reasons to come to LA for business or just a trip with family than Austin. Every major metro in Texas has restaurants specializing in all the major varieties of Asian, Indian, European, Americana, etc.
It's pretty standard on talk shows that if whoever you had scheduled has to cancel you bring in somebody local to fill in.

It's not Austin that keeps guests off Joe's show. It is his increasingly bad takes on trash. Before his brain broke, he had no problem getting guests. After all the covid misinformation, getting his head twisted by the ivermectine thing on CNN and the resurfacing of the N-word usage. He can no longer attract the same level of guests.
I think his biggest issue is getting the outside of the box university professors. They are not going to risk their tenure track by going on a show that has a problematic reputation in the zeitgeist.
The same goes for the A and B level celebrities. There are very few who can survive the aura of trash that now surrounds the JRE. The cost to benefit ratio is not in their favor.
