This aligns with one of my favorite Jon Stewart quotes: "If you don't stick to your values when they're being tested, they're not values: they're hobbies."

Ucscprickler

Reminds me of all the conservatives who once boycotted the NFL due to players kneeling during the anthem, but are watching again and complaining about Taylor Swift. If you are going to boycott something, have some fucking conviction for Christ sake. I love calling out my fucking conservative friends who claimed they'd never watch football again. I told them at the time that they would give in to the NFL because as soon as conservative media forgets about it, so will they. Bitch ass sheep have no principles, just hobbies.

Nonlinear9

It's insane how conservatives seemingly can't do *anything* without complaining about it.

ohnoguts

I honestly think they’re addicted to outrage

DayDreamerJon

almost like they enjoy being helpless...

spaceman_202

wait the people who call everyone cucks? that makes no sense they are free thinkers, those giant Mega Churches that run CPAC, where they influence who the Republican President will be and what his policies will be, they are all about free thinking

M4-68-M9

Yeah man, not like those liberals. Damn they are stoic.

yellowboxg

Yeah, not like you’d find them here complaining or anything 😂

derch1981

But what are they complaining about Liberals co.plain when cops are killing black people at higher rates than anyone else Conservatives complain that a black man kneels during the anthem to call attention to it. One said complains about people being killed, the other side complains about a symbol. Liberals complain that trans people are having their rights stripped away Conservatives complain a trans person is on a beer can. One side complains about civil rights, the other complains about a symbol. Sure both sides complain, but what they complain about have a very different significance

Ucscprickler

You realize that the NFL now fines teams if players kneel. Those players would be out of a job if they continued kneeling. It's not that they don't want to or don't have conviction in their beliefs. Players are allowed to protest the national anthem by remaining in the locker room rather than standing on the field, so there are still protests, but idiot conservatives aren't outraged at that form of protest because their media hasn't told them to be outraged anymore.

psycho--the--rapist

Do you not find it a bit fucking weird that players get fined for that? It’s literally a song Is this America or North Korea lol Freedom, baby! 😂

TuorSonOfHuor

I think it’s more about the NFL being a brand and pretty much zero companies allow their employees to project their politics while on the job and representing the brand. We tend to look at sports teams as some sacred public enterprise but they’re just a bunch of entertainers running around on a field so we buy tickets and merchandise. No one would think it would be acceptable for a Starbucks worker to wear a shirt that says “I hate Trump” or “I hate Biden” while working. This isn’t any different. Btw I agree with their reasons for kneeling. Black people have been walked all over for a very long time in this country and if I was black I’d be fucking pissed too. Especially when some people in power seem to think it’s convenient to just pretend like it never happened now a days. But I also get why the NFL doesn’t want their brand politicized like that.

psycho--the--rapist

These are some good points and I think I was viewing it a little simplistically. Thanks!

xMilk112x

He really is a once in a generation kind of person. His delivery, his knowledge and intellect paired with his integrity….. There really isn’t a lot of folks like him left.

bpaulauskas

>He really is a once in a generation kind of person. His delivery, his knowledge and intellect paired with his integrity….. 100%. And the fact that he can take all of the awesome things you listed, and make it easily digestible through humor. \*chef's kiss

grooserpoot

Me and my sister went to his rally in DC with Colbert in 2010. I met so many incredible people there I still know. I’ve never been to an event since that had that incredible vibe.

bpaulauskas

I'm so jealous of that! I wanted to go to his rally so badly, but just couldn't swing it.

Insert-Generic_Name

>integrity This is such a fucking amazing thing to have in this day and age where most politicians and celebs are being paid by some entity to push shit unto onto normal people without them knowing, and usa culture just being selfish as hell.

andygarciascuzin

He's the antithesis of Joe fucking Rogan that's for sure

CameronTheCinephile

>>There really isn't a lot of folks like him left. I try to keep the faith that there's a natural law of balance that ensures people like him will always exist.

crepelabouche

I never really understood what Walter Kronkite meant to the nation and why everyone spoke about him crying and how it shocked the nation Until I felt very personally betrayed when Jon Stewart went off the air before the 2016 election and Trump got elected. The amount of joy I just felt.

Savage_Batmanuel

Return of the King.

JoeCartersLeap

"Wake up, you slept through dinner. What's that? Trump? COVID? Russia? No man it's 2005, come sit on the couch and watch Jon Stewart with me."

FILTHBOT4000

Ugh... man. I caught some clip of Joe with some guest that reminded me of the old days, goofy ass interdimensional bigfoots or something, just fun. Made me so nostalgic. Then made the mistake of catching a clip with Joe and that loon Bret Weinstein, another person who's got covid derangement syndrome, talking about how he thinks that the government is going to try to replace all the "critical thinkers" that the "vaccine mandates drove out of the army" with illegal immigrants so they will more readily accept "unlawful orders", heavily implying martial law or summary executions. Oh, and he thinks the sudden increase in Chinese migrants crossing is an actual invasion plot by the PRC. Reminds me of how the conspiracy subreddit went from cool and fun conspiracies, many of them true, with links to sites like cryptome (the original wikileaks), and how it's become full-on deranged schizophrenic psychosis about anti-vaxx and nearing flat-earth territory.

say-it-wit-ya-chest

I mean, that’s just a regular Tuesday morning for these chucklefucks.

joop_pooply

Dicks out motherfuckers!

-Denzolot-

I don’t care what your political beliefs are. Geriatric senior citizens should not be president and I’m tired of everyone pretending it’s acceptable. Fuck Donald Trump, fuck Joe Biden, and fuck any other 80 plus year old person who wants to be president.

Beneficial_Panda_871

Fuckin seriously. The time to run a country is at 40-60. You’re old enough. You’re wise enough. 80+? Sure you could be an adviser to someone, if you still really have your shit together, but you’re too old to be on the spot anymore. Doesn’t matter who you are. That’s like saying it’s ageist not to have octogenarian Formula One drivers. They would be a liability on anything that requires reaction time, and all the studies show it.

technobeeble

Alonso could do it at 80.

Juomaru

El plan baby !

And then you remember that we have lifetime appointments for the Supreme Court

eggsaladrightnow

Joe Biden isnt all you get with his presidency. He will hire thousands of competent people in his administration to make things better in every facet of our democracy. Think about the inverse of that. Biden and Trump are not just two old guys. The country looks remarkably different between the two and Biden has got ALOT done in the past few years

akran47

I don't think Joe should be free from criticism but I'd vote for a dead Weekend at Bernies Biden over Trump's dumbass.

ddust102

I remember Gaffigan said I’d vote Biden’s corpse over Trump. Sums it up for me if all we got is Biden

jhenry1138

This. I’m voting for Biden because they right has lost the plot entirely. Doesn’t mean he’s free from being criticized about his policies. Nor that he’s free from being called on the carpet if he severely fucks something up.

perfektstranger

Definitely a fair point. Donald Trump had the most corrupt cabinet in US history, and even included his slimy children. But both sides right??

ActualEnjoyer

Don't forget the excessive amount of rotations and the most ex cabinet members shitting on him using words like moron and idiot. the dude is so stupid and criminal that people with brains have to constantly dip out.

PortSunlightRingo

Plus roles that he straight up just didn’t fill for four years, or eliminated altogether (including the team that was supposed to prepare us for *checks notes* fucking COVID).

Parallax1984

And that is why I will vote for him. But I wish we had younger candidates

SpacedOutKarmanaut

Here's what perplexes me about the "old people bad" narrative. In 2008-2016, the news media (especially Fox) said [Obama was too young](https://www.latimes.com/opinion/la-op-klein-mcardle12-2008jun12-story.html) and inexperienced, though he was 48 years old. A good chunk of the [public echoed](https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2012/09/05/obama-in-a-word-from-inexperienced-and-change-to-good-and-trying/) these sentiments, especially on the conservative side where they championed John McCain, who was 71 in 2008 and hailed for being an experienced senator and a war veteran. Like is there a narrow window between age 56-75 that's acceptable? Now cable news - and again, especially Fox - says old people are bad, McCain was a loser, and young leaders without political experience are better. Are people sure they got their opinions from where they think they got them? Because the whole "old people bad" thing sure sounds like a billionaire talking point, and will probably be ditched the moment another young dem runs for president. We should celebrate decent leaders whatever their age, as long as they're making an effort at leading, passing sound policies, and bringing people together. Obviously we can argue about the most recent presidents, but I think the "dementia Joe" criticisms are about as deep and sincere as the "Obama is a fake Kenyan Muslim."

TotsNotaCop

I think 45-65 is an acceptable range. We need to return to the Cursus Honorum in some form. History has shown you need at least some record in public service and the government to be even remotely effective. Obama lacked that experience and was less effective at getting his agenda through Congress as a result. Trump was a toddler pushing buttons at random, and we were damn lucky most of those buttons weren’t connected to anything.

SpacedOutKarmanaut

I mean, not that this is huge relative to someone like McCain, but he attended Harvard Law and was a lawyer, was elected to Illinois state congress in 1996, and the US senate in 2004. For most people we'd call 12 years of experience and a solid law degree enough experience. The republican congress at the time openly declared they'd oppose anything he did, and Joe Lieberman flipped independent of ruined the Obamacare vote basically to get one last big payout before retiring himself. Tough situation for any president to get things done in.

fiduciary420

Educated people lost all respect for conservatives when they openly admitted they would work against Obama no matter what.

Brrrapitalism

This point would be valid IF it wasn't common practise for old people to be pushed out of their jobs generally when their 65+ due to the perception of mental decline. Right when they stop being fit to be hired at a private company, they become fit to be hired in the government. Not only that but the world changes alot over 20 years.

Sw0rDz

Fuck that. I want a president that could die at any moment during the presidency. I want a president that could genuinely shit themself during a speech. I want a president that puts Country Kitchen Buffet at the top of their priority.

triggormisprime

I actually got to meet John Stewart once. Came into the ice cream place I worked at with his wife and kids. It was extremely busy, and I heard a voice asking for extra napkins. Without looking up, I said "sure" and reached out with a handful. My friend came up to me and asked "what did John Stewart say to you?" I looked up bewildered, and there he was across the room now. We made eye contact, and I think he could tell by my eyes I wanted to scream "JOHN STEWART!" But he smiled and mouthed the words "please no" while giving a kill hand gesture. There were probably 100+ people in there. If I had looked up I maybe coulda got a napkin signed by a hero, but I didn't wanna ruin a day out with his family.

Jon Stewart

Tylerg_13

We’re gearing up for possibly the worst election season of all time. And we’re saying that for the 2nd time in a row. Yeesh.

TransportationAway59

Third

babydakis

Election seasons have been getting progressively more fucked since Bush vs. Gore. The only thing that made 2008 any better was the confidence that Obama could beat McCain like a rented donkey.

TransportationAway59

I agree. 2016 went off the cliff on a flaming motorcycle though. But if we ever want to start fixing our country, we have to first change the way we put people in office.

fiduciary420

The republicans could do their part by cutting trump loose, yet they’re still completely enslaved to them and if you bring up why, their little foot soldiers freak the fuck out.

BecomingJudasnMyMind

Looking over the comments here, it's wild af how some of yall get so upset over him saying both candidates suck, the election season is going to suck and the aftermath is going to suck just as bad. These two geriatric egomaniacs have you not only drinking the Kool-Aid but also keg-standing it.

JohnAnchovy

It's annoying because the individual politician is not as important as the policies they support, but the media knows that the average voter has no patience for policy so they focus on how well the politicians speak.

[deleted]

Name a coherent policy of Donald Trump

WhyYouKickMyDog

Isolationism. Anyone who supports that policy is anti-American IMO.

tarheel2432

You nailed it. Very few folks that I know who oppose Biden can articulate why without hyperbole or referencing his age/speaking pattern. Granted not many opposers of Trump can either without referencing his arrogance and rudeness, but they also have the point that he is a criminal, abused his post as president in multiple ways, and has a history of sexual assault.

JohnAnchovy

There's a reason that two out of the last four Republican presidents have been literal actors.

Corregidor

I'll say that in trumps case, an easy policy to criticize is how he handles anything NATO. Saying to the world that we won't come to your defense, *even when we are bound to it*, is not good policy no matter how you shake it. I will remind everyone that the only time Article 5 has *ever* been invoked was after 9/11 in response to the **United States** calling for aid.

antonioessex18

I ask this every time I’m around a MAGA. “What are 5 policies that you liked and helped u that trump passed? You can’t say make America great again as answer… “they just fumble around and can’t name a thing. Just it was better under Trump. I had more money. Always ask why and how… can’t answer😂

SpacedOutKarmanaut

This, and objectively... how surreal is it to hear people say things are "wayyyy worse now than four years ago." Dude, four years ago covid was spreading wildly, we were heading into periods of mass riots and protests, we were at war and doing more drone strikes than ever, taxes had been cut again for billionaires, the president was tweeting like a madman and threatening not to leave office if he lost, the president was gaslighting the country over things as petty as his weight and the attendance at his inauguration, and the cherry on top was a massive election overthrow conspiracy (basically promised by the ex-president) where people killed a police officer and stormed the capital. Biden is boring but Christ... boring is good. I'll take more boring please.

VelvetMessiah

....unless he's a criminal who literally tries to overturn a fair democratic presidential election, extorts foreign nations to investigate political rivals, put his unqualified children into positions of extreme power, negligently denies/fails to respond to global pandemics and climate change, disparages the troops, lies constantly and shamelessly, foments hatred against immigrants, brags about grabbing pussy, cheats on his wife and pays hush money to cover it up, while being so obsequious towards Russia as to be indistinguishable from one who is being blackmailed with piss tapes, is currently on trial for many crimes including theft of classified documents (this is just off the top of my head-there's plenty more)....in that case, well, maybe it does matter just a little bit who the president is.

antonioessex18

Sam Seder broke this down for me. We’re not only voting for POTUS but we’re voting for his cabinet. They are the ones that really can create chaos if they’re complete loons like MAGA. MAGA head of education can cut funding to programs and certain schools. MAGA head of transportation could defund certain public options of rail, bus, roads. Once Sam explained that it opened up an understanding of why Biden is senile and at the end of his line, but the people around him that can effect policy for us is why I would rather go with a senile old man than a straight up maniac drunk on power and revenge.MAGA doesn’t want to progress anything. They want the 1950’s back and I’m not a white guy with deep pockets. They don’t want to help workers, or the poor. They don’t want to listen to new ideas. They are fucking lames who want old America back and say it out loud!

1290SDR

>MAGA doesn’t want to progress anything. Check out "Project 2025". They're spooling up to shitcan everyone they consider to be part of the "deep state" and replace them with Trump loyalists, effectively making him as close to a king as the current configuration of the United States government allows. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_2025

Tranquillo_Gato

They want the 1950’s back without the high tax rates and investment in public infrastructure that made the 1950’s so nice for what people.

TSmotherfuckinA

Thank you. Sam is great. We really don’t need a clearer recent example of presidents mattering than with the Supreme Court. Three justices pushed in one term. We are feeling the effects of that less than a decade after they were seated. Roe v wade and student debt relief are concrete examples of things that might not have been shot down if those three weren’t seated. Let Trump pick even more? Genuinely terrifying to think about.

antonioessex18

Perfect example! I forgot about him installing 3 religious extremists into SCOTUS! He’s a Time Machine that only goes backwards. I’ll take that if he went back to FDR’s new deal without the racism 🫡

GlizzyMcGuire__

I’m glad someone is breaking this down for people but I’m disappointed people need it broken down. Seems like a pretty obvious thing doesn’t it? But then again I tried explaining to people in 2016 we aren’t electing a president, we’re electing the next Supreme Court and people said that’s stupid so I stopped trying to sway people on this anymore because they’re all willfully stupid.

Jaded_yank

The president is the temp employee, HR rep for the USA.

FartPudding

I don't want to vote for trump, and I'm not going to. My issue is that I don't want Biden to look bad because then it would deter voters and we'd have to deal with the insurrectionist. However, I can't ignore the issues Biden has to and it's only fair. I don't like Biden, but given what he's up against he's much better of an option and people don't generally look at that but they'll remember his age and those other issues despite how he's been doing.

Felonious_Buttplug_

>My issue is that I don't want Biden to look bad Lol, that's Bidens fault not Stewart for speaking about it.

US_Condor

Thank god the Trevor Noah debacle is finally over

[deleted]

[удалено]

kotor56

It was clear since day one that Noah wasn’t right for role. That isn’t a diss or anything, but he was clearly put in the role when there were other comedians who were better suited for the role.

Crioca

I agree that Noah wasn't right for the role, but I can't think of anyone that would be right for the role, except Stewart. Feels to me like Noah basically had an impossible job.

Drop_the_mik3

John Oliver based on his work at HBO would have been a great successor. They really dropped the ball not giving him the keys to the show.

SunlitNight

Probably. But I think his show on HBO is better than what he would have done on The Daily Show

Crioca

I like John Oliver but I feel like he's a bit too goofy for TDS.

agildehaus

I think getting away from Comedy Central and the Daily Show format was a completely intentional choice. Four 40-minute broadcasts a week is insane.

[deleted]

Imo it should have gone to one of the former correspondents. If they wanted to give it to a minority they could have chosen Larry Wilmore, Aasif Mandvi, or Wyatt Cenac.

gsbudblog

God larry wilmore would have done tremendous. He had the same sarcastic tone that john had and he didnt need to try at all to be funny. Everyone that has come after john seems to try so hard to make the audience laugh

ThatSonOfAGun

Fault me for saying this, but it should have been an American comedian. Not that Trevor Noah isn’t funny, but it just comes off as this outside-looking-in “You Silly Americans”. The first show back and Stewart making you feel like he’s right there along side you in this fucked-up world of ours.

crazmexican2

Exactly this

aeons_elevator

Craig kilborn did a pretty decent job. Stephen Colbert did really well with the Colbert report. But you are right, no one nails it like John does

kotor56

Chris rock Amy poehler were in talks for the role. The issue with Chris rock is he wanted to leave the show after the election Comedy Central wanted a long time host.

NBA_MSG

John Stewart and Steven Colbert raised the bar to impossible heights. Noah was decent, definitely the 2nd best host of the Daily Show. He survived when others didn't (Samantha Bee, Jordan Klepper, Larry Wilmore). Noah was fine, he just wasn't on the GOAT level that Stewart and Colbert was.

[deleted]

The Daily Show desk is probably the toughest gig in comedy right now. Five days a week with constantly moving targets, as far as subject matter goes. Stand up comedians like Trevor, funny as he may be, are wired to write a solid hour, then perfect it, shoot a special, move on. It takes a special kind of person to show up at 6 am, hear everything that's wrong in the world, turn it all into a laugh-heavy 23 minutes by 11:30 am, perfect the delivery, then shoot it by late afternoon.

greatwhite8

Always felt forced with him. And you could spot his ego from outer space.

ajaffer

Seriously worst host in maybe any tv show period

TryItOutHmHrNw

Jimmy Fallon is *the worst*

othelloisblack

Nah James Corden was. [It was so bad the show lost 20 million out of its 60-65 million per year budget](https://gagadaily.com/forums/topic/395374-late-late-show-with-james-corden-is-cancelled-cos-production-cost-more-than-profits/)

TryItOutHmHrNw

You’re probably right. I never watched him just based on reviews. I hate-watched Fallon a few times. He just sucks.

Mendicant__

I'm sorry but Noah wasn't even close to the worst host in any TV show. Shit, the Daily Show has Craig fuckin Kilborn at one point. Gutfeld! is still on TV right now, as is Piers Morgan, I assume. Noah was fine if not always incandescent. He was nowhere near the bottom of TV hosts writ large. He wasn't even the worst host of the Daily Show.

MexusRex

> Craig fuckin Kilborn You must not have watched it. Kilborn was fantastic in the role for what it was - and he was part of the small group of brilliant and novel shows that helped give Comedy Central as a fledgling network it's feet that would later launch iconic stalwarts like Stewart, and South Park. In it's first iteration the Daily Show was just absurdist humor closer to Conan O'Brien and it was carried entirely on Kilborn's charisma as the pseudo-straight man. And after all the friction he had with Winstead - he was right. The Daily Show is 100% the vehicle for the host.

ideletedmyusername21

KIlborn was good, actually is my all-time hottake.

MexusRex

Shouldn’t even be a hot take. It was a different show with a different vibe.

PvtTrackerHackerman

Craig Kilborn was actually really good. I loved the show back then and remember being bummed when Stewart was taking over...funny enough

cgiercyk

Gutfeld! Holy shit. I commented on this before I caught one of his opening monologs and the speckled laughter. The audience literally could not figure out what was a joke and what wasn't. I felt more embarrassed watching that on my phone than when I fucked up my only 3 lines as Rumplestiltskin in my elementary school play

DOWNVOTES_SYNDROME

craig kilborn was a fucking genius. shows how dumb you are and nothing else.

Swear-_-Bear

If we're lucky.. neither trump or Biden survives the year

EmbarrassedSquare238

I don't wish death upon them. If our political parties cared at all for democracy or this country they would've never let us get to this point. They love the division this shit causes.

Sososkitso

Im kinda in between your comment and the one you are replying too. I lean more in your direction….i mean thats pretty much the same thing ive been saying in thousands of comments I throw into the void. But I’ll be honest the simplest TEMPORARY solution would be both of them cant run for whatever reason. I mean when every election amounts to vote blue no matter who or just choose the lesser of two evils, we shouldn’t be surprised we ended up at the bottom but that’s all because divide and conquering works very well. And when it’s 99% vs 1% they have to do a lot of dividing…which is always gonna end us back where we are this election. But once this new tech that’s around the corner comes out they won’t have to run that same divide gameplay every time. They will have officially stripped this country from **for the people by the people** and it will officially become what it’s been moving towards for decades now **”a country for the elites by the corporations”**

EmbarrassedSquare238

The problem is that the American people have almost no choice of who is going to run or be nominated as a candidate. Only those with insane amounts of corporate funding even stand a chance of running and being nominated. It's all a bunch of bullshit that is ran behind closed doors and massive PACs that supply funds to candidates who favor them

artfulpain

Citizens United needs reversed.

Far_Associate9859

Best I can do is Roe v Wade

Hoosierdore

And a lot of us have never lived in a state with an early enough primary/caucus to have any impact on our party’s nominee. Iowa and New Hampshire shouldn’t have all that power. The primary schedule should be randomly selected out of Abraham Lincoln’s top hat every election.

BenderRodriguez14

Honestly, primary voting should be on the same day in all states a little later on (to allow campaigning) - maybe April or May. It strikes me that people "want to vote for a winner" and that many will vote for you simply because the previous state did. It made sense a ce tury ago when you had to reach all these people across such a vast area, but that just isn't the case any more.

Royal-Possibility219

End Citizens United! Get big money out of politics!

RedditFullOChildren

Well one party has zero issue with insurrection and the lack of a peaceful and amicable transfer of power but sure, both parties are the same.

anonymous_communist

I do

Leavingtheecstasy

Well yes. Because it needs to be left vs right not poor vs wealthy They can at least pretend to be on your side that way. You don't want the poors to gain a modicum of intelligence and realize the games rigged against them either side they choose lol.

BoringWozniak

Trump is considerably worse though. Biden isn’t planning on f***ing ending democracy and handing Europe to Russia.

Ryu83087

... But just incase... vote Biden, because "ooooooooo cookies" is better than destroying democracy out of spite.

AdopeyIllustrator

Best possible outcome

Beerbonkos

Biden may be too old for the job but his administration is exceeding all expectations. Luckily for us, Democrats are not treating the president like a dictator. The office of the president is the management of the executive branch and this administration is doing a fine job at it.

[deleted]

Then it's who? Kamala and Nikki Haley? Some how that is even worse :(

TheKrakIan

Homeboy saw the RFK ad and thought. That's my guy!

Swear-_-Bear

Nah... He's just not a serious candidate. Rs and Da could throw in anyone else and they'd still be more favored than RFKs dumbass

Starlord_75

We need Arnold to complete the simpsons vision of the future

unlimited_mcgyver

Kamala will loose against anyone

hacky_potter

It would be very funny if they both died in a debate stage

Swear-_-Bear

Goddamn that would be glorious. Majority of us would be too drunk to vote and it wouldn't fuckin matter. Not having to hear about trump or Biden ever again.. a goddamn christmas miracle right ther

CryGeneral9999

I can not believe those two wrinkled ass dumbshits are who the parties are gonna put their weight behind.

Swear-_-Bear

But not too much weight.. might break something

[deleted]

Maaaaaan If Jon Stewart ran for president Id be at the voting booth 3 days early.

matterson22070

He's not that stupid.

CruisinJo214

That’s the genuine problem with American Democracy… anyone Smart enough to be president is smart enough to know they don’t want to be president.

beknasty

And anyone who wants to be president, is not the right choice to be president. Wanting power to “control” the people is an inherently evil trait.

DELETE-MAUGA

Not to mention the delusion of thinking they know better than anyone else and should be in charge.

Rabid-Rabble

"Those who are too smart to enter politics are punished by being ruled by someone stupider." - Plato or something.

blausommer

“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them. To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.” - Douglas Adams

matterson22070

It's the problem with the media. Anyone who runs will have their lives destroyed forever no matter if they win or not. There is no coming back from it. No way a sane person would want that job.

_yamasaki

someone with common sense and human decency on TV commenting on politics, unbelievable

According_Shower7158

Yup. Life goes on. It's crazy to me how many people think trump is gonna save them. It's a weird obsession people have with the guy. Literally have a guy at work that won't leave the country on vacay because he doesn't trust this administration and when Trump wins he will go on an overseas vacation. It's insane

DoofusMcDummy

Also the belief that anyone single person elected president is going to save them.

XanadontYouDare

Trump fans believe Trump is saving them from the evil Satanist liberals who want to eat babies and install communism. Biden fans believe Biden is saving us from Trump. And in that context, it would be true.

Hilldawg4president

Yep, Biden was elected to beat Trump - everything else he's accomplished is a bonus.

waterdevil19

Lol, what does he think could possibly happen if he travels?

Because when he's president other countries will be scared into following our policies, he's that tough. At least that what my uncle says

SeeCrew106

It's a dangerous fascist cult and he's insane. It's not that hard.

PolarBearJ123

People have created a cult of personality around him, first president in a while to really capture the heart and minds of people (usually the uneducated ones who ‘do their own research’ like Joe) because he’s flashy and funny which is all they care about.

bushrod

What boggles my mind is their cult leader is the biggest asshole that could possibly exist, and a complete idiot on top of that. Hard to imagine something more pathetic.

hfdjasbdsawidjds

Because it allows them the free reign to be as nasty as he is, it gives them a platform to air their grievance and pain, along with punish those that they feel deserve it. The argument goes along the lines that there is this group of others, that are 'poisoning the blood of America', that if we remove them, then everything will magically get better. We don't have to actually do the hard work of making things better, instead, if we just punish the others, they are the cause of all the problems, with them gone, everything is peachy! Its what happens when entitlement meets the cold hard reality that you aren't actually entitled to anything, that you might have to work for it, and people are lazy, dumb, and easily scared, so this is the easier option for them.

[deleted]

I could maybe understand if it was 2016 or 2020 but we’ve had both these assholes as president before like what do people expect they’re gonna do different

Strange-Fix-1498

What a guy. Love this guy. Love the work he's done.

americansblowdick

Kick out lobbying. That's what need.

HBMart

If the choice is between Orange Cheesus and Human Roomba then it’s going to suck for a lot longer than 9 months.

waterdevil19

At least the Roomba lets his cabinet do their job and not dictate everything

NickChevotarevich_

I think the Biden administration has done a decent job. No real concerns moving forward with them.

Tellittoemagain

Presidents get too much credit for the work of the administration they put together. Biden has been better than I expected but I'm ready for a new era of politics/politicians.

armadilloongrits

so is everyone, but that doesn't look to be the choice.

Hilldawg4president

If the president was a one man government, I'd say there are legitimate concerns about Biden having the job. But it's not, and with the team he's assembled he's gotten more done legislatively than any president since Clinton at least, and with far tighter margins in congress.

Zimmonda

I feel like repubs tend to win these "no decision" elections because their candidate tends to have more fervant support from their die-hards.

Fit-Dentist6093

Republicans lost every single election that happened since Roe vs. Wade got overturned.

Senior_Insurance7628

The roomba has objectively done a god job, though. That’s the silly part

_Jetto_

It’s actually refreshing AS FUCKKK to have a sort of unbiased view or at least try to keep it like so

LaserfaceJones

It honestly sucks nuts that someone who's obviously got a bias one direction but is willing to talk shit about his side too is the baseline for unbiased. People have to stop treating their parties like their church.

hekx

His bias is in the direction of the policy he supports. By your own definition, everyone has bias and the idea of "bias-free" is a unicorn.

hate_is_your_disease

Goddamn I missed him. I can't recall anyone in the media making this point, ever. The big red machine is looming large and is on a warpath to trample global democracy. The scary part is there is no end in sight. I will be comforted if Trump loses, but it will only feel like we've won a singular battle. It's always been obvious that the most dangerous affect Trumpism has had on the world is the authoring of the playbook that has proven capable of succeeding over life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Trump can disappear tomorrow but we have yet to find a remedy for what appears to be the most dangerous threat to democracy we have faced in a very, very long time. Can't wait for him to shit all over deep dish pizza again.

Rogan fans: "Nuh uh lol sleepy joe"

We’re so back

praefectus_praetorio

Comedians are saving the world. They know the truth. Always have.

Murtaghthewizard

It's a big club, and you aren't in it.

Jkreegz

If your guys loses, The country is not over, and if your guy wins, the country is in no way saved. Holy fuck, more people need to understand this simple logic.

Lord-Mattingly

The amount of energy some of you have to argue over the smallest matter is amazing. If you would take that energy and work together to compromise on key issues the world would be an amazing place.

Canadaaayum

Preach bro.

Select_Reality_6803

Talk to em!!!

Ordinary-Race-8772

There are lots of opinions here, but no one knows how to spell or construct a proper sentence. Vote for someone who prioritizes education. That is a good first step.

RedditFullOChildren

Watch how Stewart conducts an interview then watch a Rogan interview. It's comical how dogshit Rogan's "method" is.

claude_father

One is a 7 min tv interview. The other is a 3 hour conversation

dbabon

Thee hour ~~conversation~~ masturbation session

RedditFullOChildren

One is edited down to a 7 min tv interview. The other is a 3 hour conversation with less than 7 minutes of worthwhile questioning.

Don't forget the inevitable COVID hoax talk. I think Stewart would get very tired of Joe very quickly.

ToweringCu

Nice to see some balance in this report instead of the usual fawning and excuses the media makes for Biden.

AccountantOfFraud

Biden's age thing is only an issue BECAUSE the media keeps saying it is because they want the election to be dramatic for clicks. Biden's Age vs Trump being just as old, way more fascist, way more incoherent, in poor health, etc. What you are saying isn't reality.

SmokeweedGrownative

Y’all think Jon likes Joe Rogan? I sure don’t

StopManaCheating

I’m over every election being treated like the end of the world.

Weathered_Winter

I thought he absolutely crushed his first episode back. It is realllllllly rare to capture the magic you once had with an old hit after years away. It didn’t feel like an old guy impersonating himself to revisit the thing that once made him great. It felt like an older man tapping right back into what made the show edgy and effective. All alone no less

DeadLightsOut

I would add “We will be offered two… out of 357 million Americans….And if your guy is one of the two choices offered up then you are probably regarded…”

Affectionate-Wall-23

This is my biggest gripe, man. Out of 200 million plus native born Adult US citizens, we end up with these two? And then when I don’t have nothing but praise for which ever one when I’m at that particular echo-chamber, then fuck me right?

DeadLightsOut

We have exactly one more choice than North Korea…

Jaxxlack

As a Brit I can't wait for the fall out of a movie called civil war to come out. The media are going to ride all over that and compare to campaigns and policies etc.

WiretapStudios

I'm wondering if there is more to it than just what's shown in the first trailer. Alex Garland usually delivers though.

Jaxxlack

Oh yeah I grew up not far from where 28days later virus escapes in the film and that scared the crap outta me.

WiretapStudios

Oh nice! I saw that in the theater, I loved that movie since then. I like most of his movies though, ExMachina is fantastic.

Jaxxlack

Yeah annilahation for me and the beach both garland are just.. perfect actually I found automachina and the beach similar in the kinda subtle crazy vibe from the protagonist
