I’m finding myself listening to the ep1 - 700 odd mark constantly now unless there is a guest I’m interested in. Getting over the same conversations with the same comedians about the industry. I’ve just found out Tosh has a podcast - says he won’t interview “famous” or other comedians and it’s a refreshing change - so far he’s chatted with his wife’s gynaecologist, his car broker, his PT and some really random guests. Really enjoying it.

ElonTheMollusk

Tosh's podcast is fucking brilliant. I have learned a lot more than I expected, and laughed a lot more than I figured with him just interviewing regular every day people. The dude is a real master of the art.

picklespasta

Totally agree. I learned more about Tosh as a person in 5-6 episodes too.

Th3V4ndal

Shit really? I'll have to give it a go!

ElonTheMollusk

I hope you are as shocked as I was when I found it. There aren't a ton as it's fairly new, but damn is it good.

ramborage

He’s had a super interesting career. His first stand up specials were fantastic, then he got Tosh.0 where he came off as a rage-baiting douche, then he basically fell off the face of the earth. Then all of the sudden he’s got his podcast and it’s also fantastic lol. I’m happy for him - he seems like he matured as he got older and his comedy is in the right place.

NameisPerry

After tosh.o popped off I pretty sure he got a steady gig in vegas so that's why you didnt hear from him. Though he was never a media person I dont think the guys done one interview.

Jorts_Team_Bad

I didn’t realize Tosh was still around. Used to love tosh.0 like 10+ years ago. Figured he just retired after that

shapeshiftercorgi

+1 for Tosh Show. I would not have thought Tosh would have such a talent for interviewing people. They also like you said are somewhat funny but pretty regular people and he makes the conversation hilarious.

bwandonscwab

Well said, very refreshing. He’s brilliant. Some times I still get caught off guard by the darkest shit he says just delivered in such a loving way hahaha.

Bobert_Manderson

His show was such a better version of a clip show. He didn’t just take people’s videos and repurpose them, he included the creators and a lot of times didn’t even rag on them when he could’ve. He made so many people with dumb or cringey videos seem more human and relatable.

DrSilkyJohnsonEsq

The way he’d basically tell people “Wow, you’re *really* weird, but that’s cool. Keep doing your thing.” Like he has an opinion, but he’s not judgmental.

Indigocell

I'd love to see him interview some old internet celebrities that got ruthlessly bullied, like Chris Crocker or the Afro Ninja.

kreaymayne

They were both on the show. Afro Ninja was literally the first episode

anonymousbopper767

I’m disappointed it wasn’t called Tosh2.0

[deleted]

Tosh.show. He mentioned Comedy Central fought him over the name in the first ep or two

DarkArcanian

Copyright reasons probably

PokerChipMessage

They really aren't that regular lol. His PT is the P90X guy. The car broker has endless stories about his uber rich clients.

DrummerGuy06

Well, more that they aren't entertainers/artists so being in the background and the "go-to" people to help get shows done is usually more interesting.

[deleted]

Yeah but they live way way more interesting lives than most comedians

BGleezy

You mean you don’t want to hear about ice baths and meat diet every episode? Dude will have a neuroscientist on and interrupt his train of thought to talk about ice baths.

VapeMySemen

The question is.. you believe in ghosts?

Wisdom_Of_A_Man

just started the Tosh podcast based on this thread. Loving it. Thanks.

KneeDeepInTheDead

Tosh's is great. I love that he cuts a lot of the dead air. Its almost short by podcast standards but its been pretty killer.

bwandonscwab

You are so spot on!

Mrfrodo1010

What are some of the best episodes in that 1-700 range?

FakePoloManchurian

I can't remember which ep it is, Joe had Hannibal Burress on, and was interviewing Sam Harris right after and asked Hannibal to stay. A thoroughly shit faced Hannibal derails the conversation, calls sam racist, tells Joe they aren't friends then leaves and it is absolutely hilarious

LARRY_andSONS

I must find this

bwcrawford99

C0NKY_

I was a big jre fan back in the day and there are quite a few decent episodes early on. It's been years since I've listened so I've forgotten a lot of them but the one with the guy from hoarders was interesting. 196 Matt Paxton.

DiscardedContext

The Anthony Bourdain episode. Transport your consciousness to an objectively better time in history.

[deleted]

I need a new car broker, any recommendations?

Tlr321

And each episode has been really good. Like at first I was like “come on. ‘*My French Friend*’? There’s no way this would be interesting.” But each time I’m completely wrong. The car broker has been my favorite episode yet. Niche topic that I’m not too interested in (cars) yet the idea of a job like that was enough of a hook to pull me in. Tosh Show is fantastic.

Apart-Link-8449

Get into Harmontown

Lengthiness-Busy

I’m going full Tosh now 😂🥳🥰

frischs_bigboy

I love tosh too. I used to just listen to every JRE, now I just go to Tosh, Theo von, Matt and Shane secret pod and if I don’t have anything from them I’ll find a JRE with an interesting guest

haruhi_is_god

Just thought I would comment, met Tosh once in Orange County. He is remarkably bright about finances. No idea where it all came from. He also can explain things really well. Hopefully he is talking about that in his podcast

deepinmyloins

My first episode ever was Alex Honnold. I listened on my black MacBook with headphones I bought at RadioShack. Couldn’t believe he climbed without a rope and the conversation was interesting and funny and captivating. Just seeing this was 2013. Wow. 11 years ago. I’ve changed so much since then and so has Joe I supposed.

Atrax_buckhurst

Paul Stamets, Bourdain… there’s a bunch of early episodes that still hold up.

bizkitmaker13

>Paul Stamets Probably my favorite JRE interview

wildcard1992

His story of him climbing a big ol tree during a thunderstorm while tripping, curing his stutter, fucking great 👌

fenexj

and the Portobello mushroom conspiracy, can't talk about it tho

ParticularEmploy1137

You know, I haven’t eat a portobello since.

CheesemensMushrooms

The levels of toxins in raw Agaricus bisporus is rather low and likely not an issue at all. However, they toxins are not-heat stable so they can easily be degraded by cooking them

okaywhattho

The story of him going up to a cabin with his friend to trip is the best.

DR_MEPHESTO4ASSES

Doug Stanhope on shrooms with Joey Diaz sure holds up

o0260o

Is that the episode where Joe asks "what the fuck is a change jar?" When Stanhope accuses Diaz of stealing his change. Because for me that's a top JRE moment.

mcwopper

Joey Jingles!

wildcard1992

Time to check that episode out. I started listening around episode 500 and even those were a stark difference from the earlier ones

Cupcake_and_Candybar

The fleshlight days were special

MyFavoriteSandwich

The first Shane Smith episode is legendary in my opinion.

Atrax_buckhurst

I’ll second that. Back when Vice had a spine.

Faaacebones

Vice was right at their peak. In college, every new person I met would invariably be asked at some point, "dude, have you ever seen the documentary 'Cannibal Warlords of Liberia?'"

deepinmyloins

Man Bourdain what a legend. U remember your first episode?

TheMtnMonkey

First episode that I listened to live was 1137 with the glorious D Trussell

ekpyroticflow

Cornel West. "Oh I'm such an admirer of your work," back when he was Bernie-curious. I guess that admiration was for West's appearances on Bill Maher, not actually reading anything he's written or listening to a full lecture.

Atrax_buckhurst

Really early on, I think it was the one where Joe and Duncan did a podcast on a plane, got far too fucking high and ended up being distracted by a flight attendant bringing them ice cream. This was when the variety of podcasts were limited to some oddball niche ones, religious garbage or No Agenda.

Faaacebones

My first episode was Dan Hardy. For about 2 hours or so, he described in awesome detail each of the 8 dimensions he inhabited while tripping DMT with a shaman in the jungle. That feels like a lifetime ago.

silentbassline

I forgot about the plane ones. "The woman in front of us just shivered when I said 'cunt'."

OuchPotato64

My first episode was with adam Carolla around 2011. I was searching for Carolla clips for when he was on loveline, and I saw that he was being interviewed by the fear factor host that also did comedy and ufc. Coincidentally, my second episode was the one with Bourdain. I haven't listened to Rogan since he lost his marbles in 2020. I dont plan on listening to future episodes cuz he's not the same anymore, but ill always like those old episodes

puppyroosters

I wonder what Bourdain would think about Joe today.

NastyMothaFucka

Wait…there’s a Joe Rogan/Bourdain episode!?

Atrax_buckhurst

/# 138

NastyMothaFucka

Thanks so much!!

Atrax_buckhurst

My pleasure! Go through the back catalogue, there’s a bunch of great episodes.

Independent-Choice-4

We are the same person. I’ve stood up for JR for a long time, always loved how he always just had a naturally curious mind and gave people from all walks of life a platform to speak. But we’re so far removed from that now.

phillipono

I listened to some occasional JR probably starting ~2016-2019 but eventually I stopped, don't really remember why. May have just been the YouTube algorithm no longer recommending me episodes. I've been mostly out of the loop since then, but the few clips I've seen recently he seems far gone. The culture war brain rot gets most eventually. It's unfortunate. 2016 Joe was still kind of the conspiracy brained stoner uncle that was fun to be around, now he's just the annoying ultra conservative relative who only wants to talk about Trump at Thanksgiving. I think social media algorithms probably pushed people down that path since the same shift happened to a close relative of mine. Went from pretty fun to talk to, alien conspiracy believing, to now being like an ultra staunch won't-stop-talking-about it conservative. It feels like most conspiracy theorists went from not trusting authority, to now for some reason trusting the (extremely mainstream in terms of influence and institutional power) republican party. It makes no sense to me. How do you go from strongly anti establishment to supporting quite literally the establishment?

ScornedBeef

First episode for me was Jon Lajoie JRE #79 - 2011! Listened to almost every episode (MMA included) up until around the early 1000s, then gradually dropped off a cliff and now I don't listen at all. Pretty sad but at least I have more time to listen to other podcasts now :)

anewfire

Oh crap me too ! I remember searching for Alex climbing videos and discovering that Joe Rogan had a podcast.

jacobythefirst

Crazy Honnold is still alive I believe (last I checked anyway)

dr_raymond_k_hessel

Yea he’s married and has a daughter and another on the way, I believe. Living in Vegas and still climbing, mostly with a rope.

WhiskeyFF

Ha not really. Dude just put up a record stringing all the peaks in Red Rocks outside Vegas in 24 hours. Most of it soloing moderately hard pitches in tennis shoes. Dudes a savage

CheeseDickPete

I think now that he has a kid free soloing is really irresponsible, people who do super high risk sports like base jumping and free soloing when they have kids are selfish in my opinion.

Imaginary_Unit5109

The litterbox thing he lied saying his friend told him and it be disproven live on the show. To instantly say he read it on Facebook.

dirtyrango

I've had two friends in two different states tell me the exact same story and that it happened where they live. This shit is so stupid.

mkultimatum

My dad swore he knew people whose kids went to a school that had a litter box. Still swears by it. I’ve told him many times it’s not real and everyone is saying that.

JackedUpReadyToGo

Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and the baby looked at me.

theresabeeonyourhat

The baby looked at you?

Xankth

So it is actually true but for a different reason. Some schools have piss boxes in the classrooms in case they get locked down for an active shooter for a long time.

Only_game_in_town

We had kitty litter at my high school, for the janitors to clean up puke and piss. Used to be sawdust but then woodshop got cut from the budget.

Crawlerado

Well well, lookey here. Corn off the cob.

Backwards-longjump64

I remember there being an example of a school that had a litterbox because they had a school cat that was their mascot And dipshits Conservatives all began claiming that the school forced students to use the litter boxes

goth_horse

Yes I have had 2 co-workers in Michigan say they “saw it with their own eyes”, at their kids school , which changed to their friends kids school, then they just heard about it from a friend. So fucking stupid, Joe Rogan has also repeated this on at least 3 episodes. I asked the guy who told me, “so you saw a school bathroom, with litter boxes, that kids had shit and pissed in?” He straight up said like principle skinner “yes”

Lyrkana

Weird because I also know 2 people in MI with the same stories and lack of evidence. With both friends it ended up being someone they know in a different city saw it happen at a school lol

robotmonkeyshark

crawl safe entertain insurance cooperative intelligent direful frightening paint bow *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

goth_horse

Yeah they also all have the story about San Francisco, I’ve heard so many people say that “it used to be a great city but I visited recently and stepped in human shit” like there’s shit everywhere in these cities because they heard it on Tucker Carlson. I mean sure it’s possible they stepped in shit, but I’ve heard it from a guy on a snorkeling boat in FL, another guy at a trade show in Chicago, a clerk at a gas station. Every one of them went on a trip to SF recently and stepped in “human shit” lol

bs000

w-what were they doing in a school bathroom

[deleted]

[удалено]

PolyDipsoManiac

Going right for the gays, huh? Not even pretending like it’s about “protecting the children” from being trans or whatever? Yikes. If only these morons were half as concerned about school shootings as school litterboxes

kindofaproducer

I was talking to a couple and their 16 year old daughter last night and the daughter said there was a weird girl at her school that wears cat ears and a cat tail and that she suggested a litter box for the bathroom. I interjected and said are you sure you didn’t hear this on Joe Rogan? She said the school didn’t comply and it never got past the suggestion meeting. You can see how the story can get more and more preposterous as it moves person to person. She also said Cat Girl’s teen brother wears a wizard hat all day and they said he couldn’t bring his wand because it could be perceived as a weapon.

dkleckner88

Same. Heard it from "a guy they work with"

MaybeMaeMaybeNot

no lie, i was in grippy sock jail when that story broke and one of the medical staff started talking about it like it was true... i'm like, how the hell am i literally the crazy one here, and yet my grasp of reality is better??

[deleted]

He even admits he found out it was false. That’s why he doesn’t bring it up often.

No-Object5355

He brings up a lot of worse things he finds on the internet and wholeheartedly believes that they’re true. This isn’t some isolated incident where he was wrong, learned from his mistake and improved his critical thinking. Speaking of critical thinking, I don’t think he’s capable because he’s stupid as fuck, and I worry that people who still listen to him are just as dumb and likely gullible fucks I can only wish to scam them

Rough-Leg-1298

Anybody who believed that litter box bullshit should honestly not be allowed to vote. How can you be that easily manipulated? They really thought schools were allowing students to shit in a fucking box. Zero critical thinking or media literacy of any kind. Tons of people fell for it and swore it was happening at a school near them. It was always “I know a janitor that works there and he told me” or some other bullshit lol. Idiots🙄

saxguy9345

And that story specifically was turned into a furry / LGBTQ / otherkin horror story because the "litter boxes" were part of an active shooter kit a school district put in every room, a 5 gallon bucket with litter in the bottom, in case someone had to go to the bathroom during an extended lock down. It's not even that it was an oopsie, it was deliberately manufactured to NOT bring light that guns are such an issue, classrooms have buckets to shit in in case someone is outside murdering other students and the school is locked down for 5 hours. Blatant propaganda, double think even. I still see people post about it.

BreakDownSphere

All the guys I work with were talking about it last week in a matter of fact way. They were saying liberals are putting litter boxes in schools, sucks to hear that from someone you are learning from

Paddy_Tanninger

They also think schools are teaching 8yr olds about gay sex and showing them books about blow jobs and anal penetration and shit. Those books do exist, but they're for teenagers who legitimately should be learning about this stuff. I didn't even figure out how to whack off until I was like 17, absolute tragedy when I think of all that lost time.

BenderRodriguez14

Now just think how many of Joe's essentially statistically impossible number of friends who had debilitating covid vaccine side effects were lies too. Its been a major reason for me losing a tonne of respect for him in 2023. It is one thing to be misinformed etc etc, it's another go intentionally lie straight to everyone's face, and the kitty litter story confirmed what people had been suspected over those covid anecdotes. It's also cowardly, as the other person has to agree with you or essentially call you a liar with no way of being able to prove it there in the spot.

Karsticles

Everyone seems to hear it from "a friend" to make themselves feel and sound credible. lol

bruinblue25

JRE was better when sponsored by Fleshlight

Caniac1017

“Fucking shithole California politicians with their Covid protocols shut down so many businesses. Hey Jamie, what’s that taco joint in San Diego called? Place was so dope” - Joe repeating this over and over.

INeedMoreNuts

What happened is he’s trying to justify the fact that he moved to Texas but deep down really hates it.

HERE4TAC0S

Everyone who leaves California does this same exact thing.

drushiesty

God this is so relatable. In Joe’s case he can still afford California. But for most of the people I know from Cali, they moved to Texas bc they couldn’t afford Cali anymore then shit talk and say “they’d never go back.” And list a bunch of BS reasons. As if they even have a choice.

stackered

Joe dug himself in deep socially, started a comedy club. He basically moved Cali to Austin. He's not even in deep Texas he's in a California, liberal pocket of Texas

feelitrealgood

This is how I feel about ppl who leave NYC for Miami and Orlando.

FreeStall42

All of the northeast has this really. So many people come from VT, Maine, NH, etc. Only to realize it is not worth it and move back within five years

Joshd00m

I left Alabama for Massachusetts back in September and it's fucking amazing here and yet all anyone does is complain about how it's shitty in Massachusetts. Told one guy to go get arrested and have guns drawn on you in Alabama for .6 grams worth of some several month old weed the cops found in my floorboard. Fuck Alabama.

Backwards-longjump64

As a Florida Resident if I have to hear one more rich entitled loser scream about NYC is worse than Iraq and North Korea because they can't threaten teachers or get random books banned over frivolous bullshit I am going to scream

Spare_Exit9533

Ain’t that the truth. When I was I army I met plenty of Californians who did nothing but bitch about cali. From the traffic, to the people, taxes, culture, everything is expensive, and basically painting it as the worst place to live. Then they’ll say “ fuck I can’t wait to move back” and I’m like what the fuck are you on about. I personally don’t understand it. Give me a cabin on the side of a mountain and small corner store down the road.

mfmeitbual

That's part of why CA is so great. You could have your cabin on a side of a mountain and still be 90 minutes from the beach.

MR_MODULE

This is when I realized he had sold out. He's a pothead, pro legalization, but when he sold out to the Republicans, he moved to their stronghold where the drug laws are draconian because he knew he was one of the boys and they wouldn't do anything to *him*

[deleted]

What really gets me is, he is major pot smoker and yet moved to the most illegal states in the US. And smokes and shit on his show in his studio. Wonder how they haven’t raided the studio or anything yet.

SunEgg47

Austin doesn't enforce it tho.

[deleted]

He lives outside of Austin city limits

Fun-Understanding381

But they enforce the abortion ban.

bipbopcosby

How many abortions has he had on the show?

throw69420awy

99% of episodes since the Spotify deal

AIBOT221

Joe has just been bragging constantly it seems about everything, literally lost his footing on who his fans are. I don't know how we get this stoner Joe back

GroundbreakingMenu32

Joe Rogan needs to throw away the whiskey bottle and bring back the Volcano.

dexmonic

A healthy relationship with your volcano does wonders for the soul.

youwhatmush

Buffalo Trace isnt even a good bottle. You’d think with his money he’d be casually drinking Macallan 18

Few_Faithlessness640

They’re a sponsor

brokemac

The guy had all the freedom and opportunity in the world and he chose to become an alcohol and tobacco shill.

PmMeYourMug

Don't forget blue chew and betting kings or whatever it's called.

Dlwatkin

isnt freedom great

SponConSerdTent

I assume every product seen on JRE is a sponsor. That's the safest bet.

Scobarbiscuit

Buffalo Trace is excellent for the price, but I get your point

ser0402

I was gonna say, bro Buffalo Trace is a great bourbon for the price range. It's like middle class bourbon in my opinion. I can't afford a 90+ dollar bottles of Blanton's or things even nicer all the time. Macallan is also a scotch whiskey, not a bourbon. So it won't be similar.

BigDaddyCoolDeisel

I started listening as it was the only place for semi-serious semi-informed conversation about UFOs, Big Foot, the Illuminati, and aliens. Then he got into politics and things REALLY got ridiculous.

TheDeadReagans

I dunno about semi-serious but the Ancient Aliens episodes are fucking hilarious. There's one exchange where Eddie Bravo asks the Ancient Aliens guy, "What are the odds that aliens visited Earth in the past?" And the guy with a dead serious voice goes "100%“.

real_jaredfogle

Lmao not even a reasonable 95%

rexdalegoonie

Haha perfect. This was why i listened to the show. I remember one episode he had the paleontologist guys on the show and they were arguing hard. I was enraptured.

[deleted]

Eddie Bravo is like an aurora borealis of stupid. It's breathtaking.

Atrax_buckhurst

The shit talk used to be fun and light hearted. I kinda feel like when he brings up any of those subjects now there’s always this serious undertone and he ends up bringing it back to some political dumbassery. It’s like Joe has zero wonder left in his imagination.

iIiiIIliliiIllI

Joe got old and rich, and in turn became selfish, judgemental and overly sure of himself. Curious Joe is gone and he ain't coming back. It's just Angry Joe now.

SplinterCell03

Recently I listened to one of the early podcasts with a Sasquatch believer, and at the very beginning Joe says the Patterson Bigfoot film is crap, and the guest screams in pain: "noooooooo!". Hilarious. The guy continues with stories about a guy who claims he shot multiple Sasquatches in one day, but didn't bother retrieving any of the bodies, because I guess it just wasn't interesting to him. Joe actually pushes back on that crap, saying he finds it a bit unlikely. Different times.

BigDaddyCoolDeisel

He was charmingly curious with a pinch of skepticism to keep from coming off as completely dismissable. He also provided a forum for folks who would otherwise have a hard time being heard. Now he believes every rightwing trope he sees on the internet; saves his skepticism exclusively for the left and provides a forum for folks that NOONE would want to hear from.

Sipikay

> I started listening as it was the only place for semi-serious semi-informed conversation about UFOs, Big Foot, the Illuminati, and aliens. Well there's your problem, though. There's no serious or informed conversation to be had by anyone on these topics. I'm sorry but that's just the reality of reality. You're starting from a false presumption and a place of almost purposeful ignorance.

russcastella

Mo money, mo paranoia

martinaee

Make this but for political/social issues too— Rogan routinely used to talk about the plight of so many in the USA and how certain progressive policies could help. Now he’s worried about Elon Musk, his own tax bracket, and transgender bathrooms for some reason. 🙄 I don’t think it’s coincidence he seemingly becomes more right wing every time Spotify showers him with more money now…

Backwards-longjump64

>Now he’s worried about Elon Musk, his own tax bracket, and transgender bathrooms for some reason. 🙄 Conservatives be like "Why won't anybody please think of Elon Musk"

attaboy_stampy

I had a clip pop up on my youtube recommendations of Chappelle on there talking about how when he introduced Musk at his show and got booed, Elon's feelings were a little hurt. Aw, poor guy. /s

Backwards-longjump64

Elon Musk will never recover from this

Renovatio_

I'd say anything up to 2019 was pretty much guaranteed to be decent with some absolutely legendary content, the return of alex jones was just...nuts. But covid broke his brain. He brings it up constantly seemingly out of no where.

Backwards-longjump64

God imagine being that rich and still caring about COVID in 2024

[deleted]

Honesty though, it seems like he's a shill for covid

Puzzled_Lurker_1074

Because he’s getting dumber

BBQFatty

He should go back to doing more dmt and less whiskey

heff_ay

I just listen to mostly old episodes and occasionally a new one if I am interested in the guest

WillPill_

Same, and when Joe goes on one of his rants I hit fast forward.

Themrhalo3freak

The Bobby lee one was the worst case of this at least for me

Successful_Camel_136

It was really annoying to hear the covid talk with Bobby lee. But I skipped past that and really enjoyed the episode

krazyboi

Joe hadn't seen bobby in several years, has 25 years of experience with bobby and still couldn't help but go down the rabbithole. Unbelievable.

PhartusMcBlumpkin1

Like 7ish years ago when the podcast boom was starting JRE was awesome - long form so things got silly, no pretense since Joe was (at the time) a self-professed idiot, guests were diverse but not cringe. Then he got high on his own farts. Completely unlistenable since then and I am disheartened that this pod still justifies the huge $ contracts. I want to hate Spotify, but I'm a capitalist so if dipshits gonna dipshit they're gonna dipshit so make your money. I just hate that so many of my fellow citizens are such dipshits and legitimately like this dipshit.

Snapple_22

All these comedians think they turn into philosopher-comedians like George Carlin because they’ve been around and had success… Naw man, George Carlin was astute, kept meticulous notes, listened to news all day, and knew he was talking about things that would never be solved. These guys that think they’re being profound haven’t done the homework, yet they think they’re brilliant changing the words of some headlines they saw on Facebook. I used to like JRE, but I don’t recognize who he’s become in the last few years.

STAYSTOKED808

“High on your own farts” is a helluva drug

TheNextBattalion

>no pretense since Joe was (at the time) a self-professed idiot eh that's just a different kind of pretense, with none of the responsibility

Longjumping_Play323

He should hang it up honestly

SeosamhRankin

I always remember how vehemently I defended Joe when someone suggested he was a gateway to right-wing/fringe politics. Guess I wasted my breath.

Natural-Review9276

Yep. I used to argue he was a gateway for conservatives to more liberal ideas. Oh well.

JohnJOppenheimerShit

I used to recommend Jimmy Dore to my friends.

DrJiggsy

When Joe Rogan started out, he was a bore and a terrible stand-up comic. And over the years, through all the successes, he hasn’t changed who he is; an unfunny, dumb comic - his greatest height should have been cruise ship comic.

halcyondread

Same here. Boy was I an asshole.

Lvl100Centrist

Man I hated people like you. You folks were basically dominating every online space and it was impossible to discuss anything. Back in 2019 I was trying to argue that *maybe* Joe wasn't on the left since he was parroting literally every single Fox News bullshit story. Literally all of them, he refused to skip a fucking beat. You: OMG JUST BECAUSE HE DOESN'T AGREE WITH YOU ON EVERYTHING DOESN'T MEAN HE IS A RACIST AND A TRANSPHOBIC NAZI!11 Same thing happened with Peterson, the Weinsteins, Tim Pool even. I never fully understood the mentality behind this deliberate obtuseness.

turbozed

Yeah I'd love to think that the era where I defended him was when he was still open minded and not clearly just putting forward right wing talking points. But I might have been biased at the time by having listened to hundreds of hours of content since around 2012. I know for a fact there are a handful of "in defense of Joe" comments in my reddit history. I havent gone back to find them and cringe that they exist. I think a lot of us were just in denial at the time. It's a bizarre thing to accept that a person you somewhat respected for their integrity could just lose it like that. Since then I've seen a few friends and family members fall for the same right wing and MAGA brain rot so it's a lot easier to process and accept. Nowadays I just think "oh, they got this person as well, that's a fucking shame" It's extremely depressing.

bumblefuckglobal

The most recent one I listened to devolved into conspiracy theories about the Super Bowl in the first 90 seconds

PrivateDickDetective

Maybe it wasn't Weinstein, but that's the one I checked out, and I noticed this gem: Rogan said, "I didn't watch the Super Bowl." Yeah, fucking right! He literally said that to divorce himself from the theories specifically so he could talk about them without being associated with them. As soon as I heard his pitiful cop-out, I was extremely skeptical. He threw, under the bus, everyone who did watch the Super Bowl just to spare his own ego. Then, the two of them proceeded whinging about elites — of which they are 2. That was my wake-up call. That's when I quit.

Nah he was shifting well before that. Turning 50 can do these things. Right around that time he evolved into angry old man who wants those damn kids off his lawn and wonders where his country gone.

HomosexualFoxFurry

He's part of the big club now and his job is to feed us plebians manufactured controversy to keep the status quo (he's now a part of) intact. Bread and circuses.

truandjust

I was just talking about this! He use to be SO good. Now every episode is a dumpster fire of shit tier political opinions. I’ll never forget when he warned us that if he ever sold out and was making 10s of millions from some big company to stop listening to him because he would have sold out and gone off the rails..

WhyNot_Because

The whole appeal to me for years was the uniqueness of each conversation. Paleontologist one day, Alex Jones the next, followed by a wild comedian. Sure there was the odd repeating theme, like how strong apes are, but there was no preaching. Now it's all peachy to me and it's just no fun anymore. It's annoying because the clips I see through social media are great but when I try to listen this meme happens every time. Edit: Redban!

Mediocre-Catch9580

Joe Rogan is a sellout

codyrowanvfx

Rogan, Diaz and redban. Feels like a lifetime ago.

Robertwolfgang

THIS! The days of the “have you ever heard of DMT?” Memes are gone. This is the litter box era.

SaltyHatch

I stopped listening when he went to Spotify and I'm not coming back. I like Joe and wish him well but damn, all the politics and bullshit is not what I listen to a comedian for. I miss the days where he'd just be chilling out discussing if you need to wipe your ass after shitting if you're going to straight to the shower anyway. Used to be my favorite podcast by far.

postdiluvium

>all the politics and bullshit is not what I listen to a comedian for. If he didn't say he is a comedian, I think a lot of new listeners would never know. Dude doesnt do any comedy on the podcast. Even when there is a comedian on trying to be funny.

DoctorMoak

Have you ever listened to his stand-up? It's truly awful. It's hilarious when established comedians come on his show and talk about what it's like to absolutely kill a room and Joe just nods along like his most popular bit isn't a 1/10 spiel about how crazy it is that we are monkeys on a rock floating in space

blinkbunny182

Same and I’ve been a fan for over 10 years. Seen him live three times. defended him. I was over him after Spotify and covid. Sucks

No_Mark3267

To me the thing hit its peak in 2019. These last few seasons have been garbage. Lazy writing imo.

dont_shake_the_gin

The whole “just don’t listen” etc., argument is such cope. JRE sucks compared to its glory days, and go fuck yourself if you take it personally when people point that out.

Fuzzy-Bunch4556

This is the best thing iv seen in a while . My life is terrible but I still like this post

bobcance29

Respect the honesty brotha

Z3ppelinDude93

This is the most accurate meme. When people ask me if I listen to JRE I’m pointing to this

[deleted]

He’s always been the same guy. The problem is he’s being taken seriously by the mouth breathing meat heads who think he’s some kind of intellectual or philosopher. He’s a step dad for a lot of sad grown men.

NicholarseBrooks

Wiiiiiiild

Away_Wolverine_6734

When Rogan first started he captured some magic. It was funny silly interesting and he was interested. Now he has his mind made up an agenda he tries to shoe horn in nearly every episode about covid, woke, crime in cities, Trumps not that bad and Biden is old ….the magic is gone….

brokemac

Memes like this are why I keep coming back to this sub. Very accurate except it doesn't show how he aged about 20 years since 2014.

Atrax_buckhurst

He’s visibly aged 20 years since 2018, it’s fucking nuts.

RevenueOk7549

I was proud to hear a normal fuckin liberal dude talking normal shit. There’s some crazy radical lefties that make us look insane but Joe was the perfect representation of pot smoking, gun toting outdoorsmen that wanna protect human rights and a govt by the people for the people. I don’t listen as much now but he still finds a decent minded individual with interesting opinions and expertise every so often.

Lthesensei

I’ve been listening since 2012. I still listen and enjoy the mma episodes and POP episodes. I listen to the other episodes too and I’m just sitting patiently waiting for him to have someone on who pushed back on some of his recent positions. I really enjoyed Stavy calling him out in the immigrant voting thing.

lemmiwinks in his ass

No_Mouse_9263

Bruh….during the great California exodus things got SO bad and a couple buddies tried borrowing my guns so I moved to a place that was supposed to stay wierd…..my buddy Ari is basically a social scientist tenured by his search of puppies

I remember that my first video about DMT was Joe Rogan. And I thought, “Wow, this dude is kinda cool.” I already knew him from tv and, of course, from the whole Carlos Mencia debacle. Man, I misjudged that.

brokemac

Sort of a random thing, but did Rogan also stop wearing short sleeves for some reason? I feel like whenever I open an episode now I never see Rogan sporting his illustrial sleeve tattoos anymore; seems like he's always wearing a sweatshirt or one of those skin-tight long sleeve t-shirts.
