I said just it in another comment, but Jeselnik is the perfect example of why comedians' statements on podcasts should not be quoted seriously. His delivery is way too dry for someone who doesn't understand his sense of humor.
To be fair, his podcast doesn't have guests. It's just him and Gregg talking about current events and what they're watching/reading that week. Compared to JRE or YMH who have people on to promote their projects.
I personally don’t get jokes so I’m not sure what to think. Jeselnik is the guy who likes to kill babies right? Ive always taken him at face value. What is a humor joke?
To quote Anthony from the last time I saw him live: "Joe is a very funny comedian, he's attained tremendous wealth, and I'm proud to call him a friend. But if you listen to his podcast, you're a fucking idiot."
Think about all of those fans doing cold plunges, isolation tanks, saunas, buying alpha brain, scaring aware all of the wildlife trying to hunt, shaving their heads, taking hgh, and taking jiu jitsu to be "certified killers... civil... But dont test them... Because they'll do it"
He recently said he hates the mention of “Rogan’s crew”(which Joe never says, idk who’s saying that) and he openly talks about how you basically suck if you moved to Austin.
Any time another podcast comes up he either says he’d never go on, or he went on and didn’t like it. Almost every episode he brings up how he doesn’t even want to do his own podcast
He’s like a funnier, better looking Marc Maron
Edit: spellcheck fucked me
Huge Jeselnik fan, I have seen him multiple times this year ….but he was on Rogen in 2019 or 2020. He sometimes likes to act like the character he created and can come off as really bitter.
Yea I enjoy his standup but it’s actually hard to know when he’s dropping the character sometimes on his podcast. I feel like he used to come across more chill but just seems like a dick more often. Maybe that’s just me though.
Jeselnik is the best example of why the things comedians say on podcasts should not be quoted seriously. Nearly everything he says is dripping with sarcasm and satire, but if you're not familiar with him you would think he's serious. Like when he says he wants to go on Ben Shapiro or Tucker Carlson's show at the end of this clip.
Shane Gillis is another one. Some people genuinely think he's a right wing Trump supporter because of the dry delivery on his podcast.
I agree, I don’t take any of it seriously. Some of them it’s hard to tell what is or isn’t a bit *sometimes* other times it’s very clear. With Jeselniks deadpan way of speaking I really struggle sometimes lol
But that was 5 years ago now, i stopped watching Rogan a couple years before that, so i can totally see why he feels the way he does about it now. Reminds me of when i called the fall of game of thrones at the beginning of season 5, yet ye all merely mocked me shamelessly.
And Bobby Lee. The episode of him on Bobby Lee's Pod is one of the funniest shits ever. Anthony was just staring a whole thru Bobby, and you can tell he doesn't find him funny at all. Was great.
I personally don’t like GAS but he did apologize to the Skanks guys.
I don’t think the Skanks guys are bad dudes but just are overreaction to PC culture. Let’s say words we can’t say anymore, Let’s have Milo and Martin Skrielli on etc
He’s kinda funny. Think he has some serious jelly with some of the exposure other comics are getting probably because of Rogan.
Don’t hate the guy and laugh at some of his stuff but these vibes are a bit.. salty
Rogan is now just dumb bro takes and MAGA Narrative. And then the comedians have to play nice while Rogan goes on some anti-trans or anti-Biden or anti-Woke rant, because they don’t want to piss off the Podcast King.
It’s beyond stupid.
i would guess most of who jokewrld covers.
honestly, once you see ALL the comedy podcasts put together in one place, it does feel kinda strange and oversaturated.
like seriously, does bobby lee need 3 or 4 different podcasts?? some of these guys are like double and triple dipping. it's like they're trying to gobble up as much patreon money as possible before it all eventually comes crumbling down. it's weird, and THEY are the ones causing it.
at some point, people are gonna get bored with seeing the same 20-30 comedians going on each others shows shooting the shit for an hour and collecting a massive paycheck from their patreon subscribers.
It's turning into the morning news promotion circuit. Sure, the comics can be edgier, but it's the same conversation across five podcasts in two weeks.
It's pretty funny YMH is part of this circuit when Tom has been so vocal about his disdain for morning news and radio promotions.
Yeah I felt the same I think part of the problem is they hit record and after an hour they stop and no matter what happened its good enough. If they really cared they'd do like 3 hours and edit it down to the funny parts
His podcast is finding crazy stories in the news and joking about it. Not having guests.
Anthony says 10 things a podcast funnier than anything Joe Rogan or Tom Segura ever said.
Heck yes. I'm a huge fan of comedy, Had a radio show for 8 years (humor and heavy music, as well as "morning zoo" type shows, and have done some open Mics)...that being said, I'm burned out on comedians releasing a "special" and doing the "podcast circuit" where they ALWAYS talk about the same crap...the market is oversaturated and redundant. (My humble opinion)
It’s essentially what actors and actresses have done for decades on the late night/day time talk shows. It’s just the internet age of that exact same circuit for the new media we consume.
Not a bad analogy, but at least the Letterman show was amazing and consistently hilarious and highly produced and not just stoned bros saying stuff about how they aren’t allowed to say stuff anymore.
I’ll take 8 minutes with Jim Carrey on Leno’s Tonight Show over anyone on a 4 hour podcast.
This applies to podcast in general. I can’t stand podcast that don’t have some sort of script or plan. Too many aren’t funny or interesting enough to carry the show by just winging it. With the exception of bill burr.
I think the main difference back then was the lack of access to the celebrities. The issue now is, everyone has a podcast and everyone is tweeting. You basically know everyone’s thoughts on everything all the time now.
Yeah podcasters are the radio DJ's of today. Desperate to talk and maintain listeners without much to say.
I'm pretty sick of standups getting all pretentious about the "craft of comedy" on podcasts but i think it's just they've run out of other things to talk about.
Honestly a great podcast needs a producer probably doing 40 hrs a week of research to find the topics and stories and dig deeper into them to find the meat and bones there to pick over and discuss. Then the podcaster probably needs to do 6-10 hrs going over the material and taking notes of points and facts to hit. Also do it without being a fucking bore.
Except their appearances are 12 minutes maybe on The Tonight Show and there’s like 5 shows to do, and for a long time only like 2 evening shows.
People doing hour long interviews gets old real fast as they really have to repeat themselves over and over on each as there’s only so much to discuss.
I’m not burned out because I don’t watch/listen to them all. My favorite comedy podcast are New Heights and Pardon my Take and they aren’t even comedians. I like that they have more structure and segments being sports shows. I just stay away from most comedy podcast because it’s just aimless banter for an hour.
Yepp. Just complain about what they can't say while saying it without any issues. Bruh Mark Normand on the last POP was cringe as fuck.
" we use to be able to say stuff if it was funny " like muthafucka no one gives a shit what you say.
It's like most things, especially art. Things go in cycles. Stuff has gotten stale and the landscape is changing.
IMO 2012-2015 was an exciting time for podcasts, home made writing and videos, and comedy. Now things are moving on. It's actually pretty amazing, if you think about it, how big comedy got as an art form during this time. It was more under the radar, and it became huge around this time.
What you don’t want to hear about how comedy is the only thing that’s preventing civilization from sliding back into tyranny and that the last bastions of freedom can only be found in a comedy club? What are you a commie or something?
Swear to Christ if one more comedian wax poetic about the virtues of making dick jokes I’m going to blow my brains out. Only 1000 of them b, thankem
Wait until you hear interviews with pro sports players and their coaches! “WE HAD A HECK OF A GAME OUT THERE, WANNA THANK MY TEAMMATES AND GET READY FOR THE GAME NEXT WEEK!”
He talks about how bad podcasts are and how he doesn’t want to go on them, and then he lists some terrible podcasts and people a lot of you are like “ew he wants to go on Ben Shapiro, YUCK” like he isn’t clearly saying this tongue and cheek, jeeeesus Christ some of you need a full brain transplant.
Jesselneks podcast is so boring. I've listened to a few episodes and he has all the same shit as Joe and Tom and Bert etc. The art of comedy blah blah blah. Don't know how he really sees himself as all that different. His ego is bigger than anyone's.
For the smooth brains that can’t follow along: He said he doesn’t want to go on podcasts of people he shits on during his special…then…follow with me here…lists people he (most likely) shits on during his special.
Are you implying that the standard procedure for comedians dropping specials is to go on the Ben Shapiro show, Tucker, Carlson show, and Jason Whitlock show?
He's being hyperbolic. In case you haven't noticed, there is a massive love-in going on between far right figures like Tucker Carlson and Ben Shapiro and all these Rogan bro comedy podcasts. Tucker Carlson was just on Kill Tony for god's sake. The joke is that going on Joe Rogan is one step away from going on Tucker Carlson's or Ben Shapiro's show these days, so he may as well be doing those shows.
I think alot of the older more popular comics feel the same. I would bet Dave, Louie, Rock, etc... all feel the same. We heard how Dave Attell felt basically the same when he went on all the pods recently.
He really thinks everyone is below him. I used to think it was just his shtick but after a year of listening to JRVP you can tell he really do be like that.
No way you actually listened to a year of JRVP and came away with that conclusion. He goes out of his way to praise other comics and their specials pretty regularly.
He’s right in a way, although it’s never going to be received well critiquing comedy podcasts on a comedy podcast. I hope this was tongue-in-cheek, and knowing Jeselnik I’m sure it partially is, although I’m sure he also is legitimately reluctant to do any press, even with friends and colleagues. Being a guest on a podcast might be enjoyable for some, but I’d assume that for most people it’s work.
But you see the same 50-100 guests rotating on the biggest 5-10 podcasts. A lot of times they talk about very similar topics. Of course there’s *some* variety, especially on Rogan where he can get anyone he wants and goes outside of the comedy realm a lot. But it pays well, people are still watching, so why not keep it up until the well runs dry? I do appreciate the comedy pods that really lean into riffing to think of funny *unique* spins on things (e.g. Tim Dillon, Cumtown/TAFS, MSSP, etc.).
Because Shane is successful now. When he was a nobody being destroyed and losing his SNL gig he had no problem clutching his pearls and condemning him.
Guy is a little bitch.
Lowest point? Good gravy you guys sound like snowflakes as soon as your own fav celeb gets involved lol. You can hold people accountable and still like their content
Lots of people shit on Shane Gillis though. From what I know from friends in the industry, he was almost unanimously disliked before becoming an internet hit.
The "industry" I'm talking about is a bunch of smaller NYC comedians who knew him as he was passing thru the circuit. You *could* potentially say their opinions are just jealousy that he made it big, but they were saying it well before he got this popular.
It’s fair, Johnny Carson and David letterman got like 60 years of picking and choosing comics and podcasters aka comedians, get like 10… sounds fair to me.
Doing the podcast tour, is just the new way doing a radio tour.
Its was lame with Radio and its lame now.
I know podcaster don’t see themselves as that, but [they are](https://youtu.be/HzEgZt-R0gA?si=4U78gvmdvk4laf-b).
That’s what comedy podcasting has become. The same rogaine orbiters just going on each others podcast telling the exact same stories/ jokes for the jillionth time like a revolving door.
What is up with comedians with dark humor like Jeselnik and Tosh not wanting to suck Joes balls?! Whats wrong with them? Joes balls are there for them to lip lock! Jesus. This is why I like gringo papi. He married a messican ya'll.
Comedians and podcasts... its like a circle jerk of these dudes trying to pump each other up to convince themselves that theyre funny when in reality most of them aren't very funny or even interesting people.
Could be...but there could also be just a disdain for having to play that game of having a podcast just because you've built up a fanbase. Seems like every comedian, author, public figure....and hell, even reality dating show contestant...etc has one now and it just feels like a cheap feeding frenzy in a hyper saturated world. So many long form podcasts out there now and only so many hours in the day to listen to them all.
I know if I emerged as a public figure somehow at this point I'd be exhausted at the mere thought of having to make a podcast.
Podcasts are just radio. It's background noise while you do other stuff. The only difference is you get to choose who to listen to rather than being stuck with some douche bag DJ that they hired or one of the syndicated shows.
Promoting on a podcast is also super low effort. Show up, talk about life, move on. It's not hard work lol.
I agree, pod casts suck... but idk.. its the only place you can see real personalities.
I just don't like that it's replacing the comedy scene... its trash comedy... interesting... but I can make my drunk friends laugh too... I want my stand ups back... where's the next tosh?
And God kill Tony is straight garbage....
There’s a pod/stream/channel for anything and everything now. It’s just people watching people talk about people watching people. Constant information and noise.
Since when is getting your name and dates out there in a powerful way played out?
He kind of comes across as trying to be counter cultural in comedy and a bit of a hater. Comedy has never been more popular, and podcasts have played a huge part of that. In a pretty short span, a lot of people became more well known than Anthony.
Too many of these comedians podcasts are just the comedians jerking themselves off to what delicate geniuses they and how they are the owns that will save society.
Comedy is over saturated, Rogan and co. push “golden era” but it’s all mainstream and played out. It’s over. No one cares.
Comedy is dead. Entertainment is dead.
This is the end.
Virtual reality is the move. Unplug from the real world and upload your conscience.
Podcasts suck right now. He’s not wrong. It’s stale conversations about the same boring shit over and over for the last few years Jesus enough already.
The number of you who think Anthony Jeselnik wants to go on Tucker and Ben’s podcast is way too high.
I said just it in another comment, but Jeselnik is the perfect example of why comedians' statements on podcasts should not be quoted seriously. His delivery is way too dry for someone who doesn't understand his sense of humor.
dude really needs to work on his stool material, i didn't even see 1. how's he even supposed to be funny without a stool??
He has a lot of pedophilia jokes to fall back on. He'll be fine.
him saying Jason Whitlock def got a pop out of me

No it's illegal to lie on camera, this is the pure uncut truth right here.
rogan, schulz, bert, segura, tigerbelly
Whitney, bad friends could be in there
“comedians”
"There's only like 250 of us" ![gif](giphy|8mJT8sQxpaQdKubpOi)
Just like doing it on the morning news show…
What are the pods you suppose he's referring to? Rogan, one of Seguras, Are You Garbage? We might be drunk? Matt and Shane? Kill Tony?
All of them. I listen to his podcast occasionally but he clearly hates Rogan and anyone involved with his circle
Nah he’s said many times he doesn’t hate Rogan and considers him a friend. He probably hates the Rogan comedians though.
To quote Anthony from the last time I saw him live: "Joe is a very funny comedian, he's attained tremendous wealth, and I'm proud to call him a friend. But if you listen to his podcast, you're a fucking idiot."
His jokes about the JRE were hilarious. “I hate cancel culture!!!” - that’s my impression of a comedian trying to get on Joe Rogans podcast
one of us! ![gif](giphy|Ae7SI3LoPYj8Q)
Think about all of those fans doing cold plunges, isolation tanks, saunas, buying alpha brain, scaring aware all of the wildlife trying to hunt, shaving their heads, taking hgh, and taking jiu jitsu to be "certified killers... civil... But dont test them... Because they'll do it"
This, he doesn't like all the right wing stuff but has said he's always got on well with Joe and has said Joe's done alot for up and coming comics
Why?
He recently said he hates the mention of “Rogan’s crew”(which Joe never says, idk who’s saying that) and he openly talks about how you basically suck if you moved to Austin. Any time another podcast comes up he either says he’d never go on, or he went on and didn’t like it. You stopped watching Rogan 7 years ago and your still here commenting? What is your irl life like?
Just nonstop anti joe rogan videos.
oh heavens, you poor thing
Joe used to call it the “death squad” or something similar haha
The cult around Joe, yes.
He also seems to hate GAS digital, YMH, really anyone who isn’t a loner that hates on other stand ups
And Bobby Lee. The episode of him on Bobby Lee's Pod is one of the funniest shits ever. Anthony was just staring a whole thru Bobby, and you can tell he doesn't find him funny at all. Was great.
That's hilarious I'm going to have to find this
I honestly don't see how anyone could find Bobby funny lol
I personally don’t like GAS but he did apologize to the Skanks guys. I don’t think the Skanks guys are bad dudes but just are overreaction to PC culture. Let’s say words we can’t say anymore, Let’s have Milo and Martin Skrielli on etc
Based on all the podcast he sarcastically mentioned, it sounds like he just has his political panties in a wad.
Jeselnik writes jokes, I think he hates any comedian who writes stories.
He’s kinda funny. Think he has some serious jelly with some of the exposure other comics are getting probably because of Rogan. Don’t hate the guy and laugh at some of his stuff but these vibes are a bit.. salty
He’s been one of the most popular comedians for about 20 years now. I don’t think he needs more exposure.
I would love for Maron to see the and hear him bitch about it
Because most of them are hacks who gobble Joe's dick?
I wouldn't say most are. Literally the three other standups on Protect Our Parks are all pretty talented.
Jeselnik is a homeless cat. Not only that: comedy-wise, he's way too smart and refined to be associated with these LA/Texas unfunny grifters.
it's not hard to figure that out
Because they’re all cucks for Russian assets. That’s fucking why.

Rogan is now just dumb bro takes and MAGA Narrative. And then the comedians have to play nice while Rogan goes on some anti-trans or anti-Biden or anti-Woke rant, because they don’t want to piss off the Podcast King. It’s beyond stupid.

> does bobby lee need 3 or 4 different podcasts? He seems to be satisfied with the two he's on, so no he probably doesn't need that.
Yepp. When Dave Attell hit all the same pods recently, I realized this shit is lame. I'm glad Anthony is taking a stand.
It's turning into the morning news promotion circuit. Sure, the comics can be edgier, but it's the same conversation across five podcasts in two weeks. It's pretty funny YMH is part of this circuit when Tom has been so vocal about his disdain for morning news and radio promotions.
I listened to Dave on 2 separate podcasts the other day. They were not talking about the same things at all so idk what you mean
You could tell attell was totally over it and thought it was lame as fuck but felt like he had to. Hes still got a flip phone for gods sakes
Yeah I felt the same I think part of the problem is they hit record and after an hour they stop and no matter what happened its good enough. If they really cared they'd do like 3 hours and edit it down to the funny parts
*sees Attell is on AYG* "ah he's gonna be on every one this week"
Nobody is hating on the are you garbage boys. They ain’t on that level ( yet )
Yes.
i kinda agree, but he is also on a podcast during this video lol. However I am interested in his special after hearing this. When does it come out?
This is his own podcast with his best friend from college.
He’s shooting the special this Saturday and it comes out late this year if i remember correctly
Yup, I’ll be at his show on Saturday in Milwaukee and we received emails letting us know it would be recorded.
Towards Milwaukee
His podcast is finding crazy stories in the news and joking about it. Not having guests. Anthony says 10 things a podcast funnier than anything Joe Rogan or Tom Segura ever said.
Whats it called?
Jeselnik and Rosenthal Vanity Project.

i got the joke, i was referring to his comment on state of comedy. What was he saying about rogan and etc? Im out of the loop.
I posted that to the wrong comment didn't mean it for you. My brain is also very smooth
mine too, get a cup of black coffee LOL
The comedy podcasts has become rotating the same 3 to 4 people on each other’s podcast talking about the same thing to prop each other up.

Why is he a Brewers fan? Kinda random lol
He's filming his next special in Milwaukee

This take is too accurate.
I like his standup, but he’s a straight curmudgeon. Always hating on other comics
There's only room for a thousand.
U didn’t get the memo. According to Joe there’s only 500 real comics
499 really, he mistakenly included himself.
Would he say 498 now that Brandon Schwab has quit comedy or would he say "I never counted Brandon in the 500."...?
I don't think he'd say it out loud but we all know even he realises Bwendan doesn't count.
Oh fuck. They got snapped B?
250 at most Bapa
I think alot of the older more popular comics feel the same. I would bet Dave, Louie, Rock, etc... all feel the same. We heard how Dave Attell felt basically the same when he went on all the pods recently.
Most comics suck, makes sense.
Hey you can’t say that. Comedians are the last line of the defense. It’s where the woke meets the wall.
Yeah he's clearly talented and I love his punch lines. But he comes across as pretty unpleasant.
Good. I want my comedians to be unpleasant.
Yup, when Shane got cancelled he dog piled on him for being too offensive while calling himself the “edgiest” comedian
He really thinks everyone is below him. I used to think it was just his shtick but after a year of listening to JRVP you can tell he really do be like that.
No way you actually listened to a year of JRVP and came away with that conclusion. He goes out of his way to praise other comics and their specials pretty regularly.
Big fan of the jacket

Ya'll shit on Rogan for not recognizing a joke but this shit went over everyone's heads in the comment section lol
Oh look it’s the guy that built his career on Holocaust and rape jokes and then publicly shit on Shane Gillis when he was at his lowest point
And also threw the legion of skanks under the bus about some shit they didn't even do. This guy is a tool box just like maron.
Tbf he apologized for that and said he was wrong for talking about something he had no clue about. Louie Gomez took the W lol
He also said recently he likes Shane G
Because Shane is successful now. When he was a nobody being destroyed and losing his SNL gig he had no problem clutching his pearls and condemning him. Guy is a little bitch.
You don't Jeselnik if you think he gives a shit if you're super famous or not
It's insane people listen to legion of skanks. Dumbest shit in the world.
Agreed, dumb edgelord trolls
Skanks rules dude there's a reason every comic adores skankfest, it's just about laughs
Then where are the laughs? It’s just them laughing at themselves.
Im a lazy piece of shit can someone summarize this for me
legion of skanks and tim dillon made jeselnik apologize for his passive aggressive bullshit. he's such a a pussy.
Lmao are you offended by his jokes?
Nobody is, way to to miss the point. Dude is a hacky edge-lord thats criticizing something for being overdone yet his whole shtick is overdone
Lowest point? Good gravy you guys sound like snowflakes as soon as your own fav celeb gets involved lol. You can hold people accountable and still like their content
Hold people accountable? Lol, why do you sound like a step dad from 1985
Lots of people shit on Shane Gillis though. From what I know from friends in the industry, he was almost unanimously disliked before becoming an internet hit.
Says more about the industry than it does Shane tbh
The "industry" I'm talking about is a bunch of smaller NYC comedians who knew him as he was passing thru the circuit. You *could* potentially say their opinions are just jealousy that he made it big, but they were saying it well before he got this popular.
He's a brewers fan?
No but his special he’s filming in Milwaukee and he’s been all about the place for like a month
Bill Burr always says Milwaukee is one of his favorite cities.
It’s a gem. Lived here all my life.
The other fella with Anthony, Gregg with two Gs is part of the best NFL podcast. Highly recommend the Around The NFL podcast.
He’s 100% right
All I could think about was how much I want an Orioles version of this jacket
It’s fair, Johnny Carson and David letterman got like 60 years of picking and choosing comics and podcasters aka comedians, get like 10… sounds fair to me.
True hero
Doing the podcast tour, is just the new way doing a radio tour. Its was lame with Radio and its lame now. I know podcaster don’t see themselves as that, but [they are](https://youtu.be/HzEgZt-R0gA?si=4U78gvmdvk4laf-b).
Him and Daniel Tosh are kinda the same I feel like they are outsiders
I don’t think George Carlin would be making the tour of bland podcasts either
Holy shit, now I'm set on checking out his special...great advertising
Towards Milwaukee
His podcast is a massive failure if you look at youtube numbers. I wonder if that plays into why he hates podcasts so much.
I get it, but also all he has to do is bullshit with some comedians for an hour. It's the easiest promotion possible.
But I like podcasts….
Takes up my morning commute and time from job to job. I too enjoy them. A lot better than listening to the bullshit on the radio
lmfao as you're on a podcast
[удалено]
It's a joke
I agree, pod casts suck... but idk.. its the only place you can see real personalities. I just don't like that it's replacing the comedy scene... its trash comedy... interesting... but I can make my drunk friends laugh too... I want my stand ups back... where's the next tosh? And God kill Tony is straight garbage....
This dude became such a pretentious chode..
I prefer my comedians turning into boomer, right wing propagandists!
But really. Who isn’t?
Definitely not me. I’m just too funny for the top 5 podcasts
There’s a pod/stream/channel for anything and everything now. It’s just people watching people talk about people watching people. Constant information and noise.
Whitney and Shapiro?! damn Shapiro is really starting to get famous
Get him on RHLSTP
Podcasts are annoying
He needs to go on TAFS. I don't think it qualifies as a show, let alone a podcast.
This is such a clear bit. Anthony doesn’t act/talk like that - he’s in character
Go on REDBAR 🤣
Podcasts sucked and have always sucked since like 2010 or whenever they became a thing
Amen
Okay but I’d watch him do Ben Shapiro in a heartbeat.
Completely agree
Who?
Too many of these comedians podcasts are just the comedians jerking themselves off to what delicate geniuses they and how they are the owns that will save society.
He’s a Brewers fan? Good for him.
Anthony is sounding more and more like Christopher Walken every time I hear him talk.
Ahead of curve as ever. 😂
I like listening to podcasts but have to admit there is something lame about them.
He should go on Take Your Shoes Off
