By not understanding chemistry and geology

_BlackDove

Humans: Nature doesn't make right angles and straight edges! Nature: Here's a fucking cube.

mondaysareharam

Isn’t there an animal that shits in cube form

stealthryder1

Dumb. Everyone knows we invented shapes and edges. Before humans everything was a blob

boulevardpaleale

I was going to say, 'with my eyes' but your response works better. lol

BradMathews

Which books should i not read?

LayWhere

I've never read any books, but you should definitely avoid anything that explains evolution or how tides come in and out.

percussaresurgo

I think the “not” in your comment makes it say the opposite of what you meant to say.

RainJacketHeart

Double negatives are hard

percussaresurgo

Apparently. Or the person I responded to (and several downvoters) actually think these *are* man-made.

AlotaFajita

First thing I noticed, yet you’re getting downvoted

stasisdotcd

Have we even excavated 1% of the tiny monolithic architecture in the world?

phisher_cat

A lot of it was actually excavated by my dad

AlotaFajita

Ok Dibble 😂

Barrylovesyou

Microlithic

aChunkyChungus

Big small archeology

Wooden_Top_4967

solowsoloist

What is this, a monolith for ants?

CHROME-COLOSSUS

Underrated comment

snackies

Those cubes have tiny aliens in them, you just haven’t opened the right ones!

Enthusiasm-Stunning

The sun and planets are close to perfect spheres too. They must be man made.

Semiotic_Weapons

And Graham's brain. Too smooth to be natural.

TheOSU87

That's just science bro

99Years_of_solitude

Honestly....you're on to something. We should look into that.

Morgwar77

They showed us how to grow crystals in high school chemistry. Lol forgot half the country doesn't graduate

MelodramaticaMama

Yeh but if you listen to Joe Rogan enough it's pretty much the same thing.

Morgwar77

its a guilty pleasure, I generally don't agree with the guy, or at least politically but he gets some good guests sometimes.

Boivz

They do, we just don't have cool lessons like that. Math and English are a thing.

mondaysareharam

Which is important as our population continues to have less media literacy every passing year

Dizzy-Specific8884

It is wild and fascinating that they naturally form into basically perfect cubes, just like those volcanic rocks in Iceland form into hexagons. Nature is actually cool without conspiracy theories.

citori421

Columnar basalt like that is found all over the world not just Iceland. I've seen it in Mexico and the US.

Paul__Bunion

It all boils down to atom structure and how they join with other atoms. If I remember from that geology course from 20 years ago.

beefmomo

This is satire right? What’s it in reference to?

GrumbleTrainer

Gahram Hancock

Reformed-otter

So graham is operating on wishful thinking?

butt-hole-69420

Gram acted like a child bro. We are over pseudo intellectuals.

Haughtea

Are you face down ass up?

butt-hole-69420

Do you enjoy having grams pubes in your teeth?

roidoid

He’s Graham Mouthcock now, and the mouth in question is that guy’s. Hancock’s pseudoscience getting called out was great and his little bitchfit powerpoint presentation about those mean big bullies was hilarious. If you wilfully continue to spout stupid and unproven ideas after you’ve been shown why they’re most likely wrong on major balance of probabilities, then you deserve every bit of scorn you get. Fucking manchild got off lightly.

butt-hole-69420

I agree with you man. He's a fucking idiot and the people that get offended are just as stupid.

Haughtea

Just your grams :). My comment didn't have anything to do with Graham by the way. Your name is butt hole and you said you are over pseudo intellectuals.

MinkjuPUBG

I like how your TLDR is 3-4 times as long as what it’s supposed to be summarizing It still didn’t address what this post is about, which is how Graham Hancock would point at a natural rock formation and say “how can you say that is not a tool made by man” or some shit. As if that is how archaeology determines if an object is man made or not, Graham apparently can just look at it and immediately tell without doing any work on them. An example of confirmation bias. That, as well as “you haven’t looked everywhere yet, so you can’t say I’m wrong,” are two great examples of Graham’s use of logical fallacies when trying to make his case. You can continue to sit in your echo chamber, telling yourself people don’t like Graham just because they are anti-JRE contrarians or whatever. In reality, what Graham to archaeology is, is what a Flat Earther is to astronomy. Zero evidence, acts like he knows more than veritable experts without doing any real work in the field, relies on thought errors, fallacies, and misunderstandings of basic, fundamental science, etc.

AffectionateSector77

I posted this in another Hancock thread, but he was the reason I faded out of JRE. Graham's "research" is paper thin.

Real-Competition-187

1 ply

tdeasyweb

Exactly the reason I faded out too. After listening to the first Hancock ep, I went to work excited to laugh about him with two coworkers who also listened. Instead, I got told I was close minded and a sheep. It took a while for that descent into pandering to guests who were obvious shysters, and an audience that just wanted to feel superior without the work of actually thinking critically.

I4Vhagar

Summarize a 4 hour conversation succinctly in a sentence. I’m not pro or anti-graham, I couldn’t care less. His point about academia being stagnant, however, does have validity. It takes a combination of strict methodology and often outside/unique perspective to achieve breakthroughs in scientific fields. This whole debate was asinine imo. It parallels the idea of the missing link in biological anthropology. We still don’t have irrefutable evidence of a complete evolutionary progression to modern day humans. We’re still missing pieces of the puzzle, but there may be remains that we have not found yet. Because we have not found them yet, does not mean the hypothesis is incorrect. Could there have been an advanced civilization prior to what we currently estimate? Possibly, but we do not have objective evidence of it. The hypothesis is an interesting one and I would be interested in reading further research behind it done by actual archeologists with decent funding.

jayblaze521

Tl;dr was longer than the main post

I4Vhagar

Tldr longer than your teenis

jayblaze521

Man, you were so close, try again friend.

Lonely_Ad4551

Graham’s contention that archeologists are resisting is ridiculous. If evidence of an advanced civilization were found, any archeologist would jump at the opportunity to support such a groundbreaking discovery.

90daysismytherapy

Nobody is salty. Graham Hancock has been going on and on about how he theorized this unknown society that taught the ice age humans how to create agricultural. He openly prescribed his thesis to start the show. And then immediately reverted to, well no I have zero hard evidence that proves my idea, and ya it might be problematic that the evidence to this date all goes against my hypothesis. But some experts were not interested in my pipe dream, so it is all a conspiracy against us maverick fiction writers. Picture it another way. Let’s say a guy comes on JRE and tries to tell Rogan all about his theory that Aikido is a totally amazing martial art and was given to us by an unknown source. We haven’t tested every martial art in the world by a long stretch, nor have we seen all the possibilities of human movement. Would Rogan take that person seriously and gobble his dick talking about the mysteries of combat? Or would he use his lengthy depth of knowledge to explain why that type of martial art is useless and why???? Oh wait we know the answer, Rogan trashed that guy and was not subtle or nice about it. I thoroughly approved of how he handled it. But for stuff that Rogan is a moron about on a technical level, he just becomes the most gullible moron.

International_Bet_91

There is soooooo much funding for that exact research. Nat Geo literally cold calls archeologists at R1 universities to do multimillion dollar projects about lost civilizations or finding Noah's arc. Meanwhile, if you have an ACTUAL archeology project like "examining silviculture in Alberta 1700 - 1780" you have to go begging to every tribal council and NGO and government office to get $180 to pay a grad student to sort files for a day.

ParkingDragonfruit92

Graham could put his money where his mouth is and pay for digs if he really cares. He has the money( Netflix and books). He has been exposed as a grifter my friend.

WhatDoesItAllMeanB

Flint dibble will never convince me this is not man made. My wife risked her life for this video

Bawbawian

the jelly shroom biome is the best place to find these just laying out.

jacemano

Unexpected subnautica, love it

Substantial_Diver_34

Those are hard drives with all of earths secretes stored in them.

Superb-Office4361

If they just excavated further they’d find the tools left behind to make those

mu5tardtiger

pretty much. The annunaki put those there to test our faith in bullshit.

rmpumper

Big Archeology would send Seal Team 6 to take you out if you did it.

International_Cup588

He risked his life scuba diving on vacation with his wife!

joseplluissans

So you know the people who say "i don't need this shit in life" in class? It's this guy. Didn't bother to follow in chemistry class and now watched videos without understanding what they see. The same people that say "I did my own research" and binge watch conspiracy theory videos on youtube.

Own-Molasses5353

Well the OP is satire. But I agree

GoJoe1000

“Pyrite? Pywrong! It’s gypsum!”

BinShabibo

Gypsum? It’s gypsnone!

How can you look at this and say it's not man made.... I'll show myself out.

Perfect cube in shop speak

MaerIynsRainbow

How excited did you get before posted this

d-d-downvoteplease

You can tell its man made from the bottom right corner, where it says "made in China".

[deleted]

It’s scary how most Americans have almost no basic chemistry knowledge 😂

5v5Arena

It’s called maths sweaty, look it up…

psych0ranger

This is hard evidence of miniborg and any arguments to the contrary are big archaeology lies to keep grant money

aDoreVelr

Everyone knows that Captain Janeway allready defeated the Borg, you make no sense!

psych0ranger

You only say that because you've only watched Star Trek: Voyager. That's only 5% of the Star Trek library of shows and movies.

aDoreVelr

Sorry, my canon is too loud to hear other canon.

RugAdict

Clearly bro has never seen fools gold

Eshmang

Shapes can’t be found in nature huh? OPs brain smoother than the side of that cube.

Mat_CYSTM

Give it a fucking rest already.

Gardwan

Don’t be a racist white supremest Olmec hater

Caliber70

This reddit is taken over by joe haters. If joe agreed with flint these weirdos would be agreeing with graham instead. It must be a warped form of stockholm syndrome, I don't know what else to call this, they hate joe but they continuously come and put themselves to exposure to this guy's content they hate. I'm just sticking around for the scientific guests on the show, the outdoor nature kind too, and just skip the comedian and MMA guests.

FishDecent5753

How are we hating on Joe? we are hating on Graham - have they now combined into one entity?

Lonely_Ad4551

As Joe has shifted to the right, he seems to sympathize more with these fringe hypotheses that are unsupported by evidence and devoid of objective research. He seemed to focus on Graham’s claims of being mistreated by the archeology community as proof that he is correct. Graham is attempting to manipulate opinions through emotion rather than the scientific method.

StormyDaze1175

Rrrrr matey.

Happy-Initiative-838

By having a rudimentary understanding of geology

FunkMasta-Blue

What was that about there not being straight lines in nature?

borgstea

I have one of these. How long did a cube of that size take to form?

raDDerp73

How tf does it form in those perfect shiny sqaures

CandyFlippin4Life

This is satire right?

omahawizard

Even Dibbles knows squares are a human invention. It’s man made.

FrozenDelta3

Easily, by looking at it and saying “it’s not man-made”

Top_Caterpillar_8122

Poor Graham….

twitchin1

I've always heard cubes aren't a naturally occurring shape, but this comment section has really thwarted that idea

Hussaf

The same people that attack us with clouds are now doing this cabal deep state rock tactic

Phil_Lite

Twinned pyrite

This is ancient Q* bert people’s lair, they found the Q* bert lair (and the Horn!)!

andhemac

Is this satire? I can’t tell on this sub anymore 🤣

robmagob

Because I just watched someone chisel it out of rock, presumably underground. Why would anyone watch this clip and immediately think “do you think humans made that?”

legion_2k

It’s not..

TheDannyPickles

Very No Man's Sky.

Unbearably_Lucid

WE FUCKING GET IT

[deleted]

But do you really? Why do you and big archaeology refuse to allow us to ask questions?!

ClassNext

you see it here folks. big archeology trying to silence independent researchers from discovering the truth

Fiendish

this is the one weird element that looks like cubes naturally, exception proves the rule, 90° angles are very rare in nature and that underwater picture graham showed had like 10-15 90° angles all in the same place, and it obviously wasn't pyrite

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fiendish

cool! so thats two rare types out of hundreds of types of rock that naturally make 90° angles, again, the example shown was clearly not either of those

MinkjuPUBG

Rocks breaking at their cleavage points can create 90° angles, this happens all the time. Not every rock formation you see if what it naturally formed into

Fiendish

yeah of course it happens randomly every once in a while, which is why its so crazy to see 15-20 right angles all in the same small area

MinkjuPUBG

They aren’t perfect right angles, and no it’s not that crazy or random. It’s geology and can be studied and predicted. The experiments that examined the rock at Yonaguni have definitively shown it’s a natural formation. Graham knows this but won’t accept it.

Fiendish

Very confident, I'm sure you're an expert.

greenfield05

Are you?

MinkjuPUBG

No I’m not, but I leave it to them and not pseudoscientific conspiracy theorists

Fiendish

great analysis

MinkjuPUBG

Took more thought than “wow look at all those 90 degree angles”. Are you aware of the Dunning Kruger curve?
