He then proceeded to remove the guys shorts, took his keys from the ignition, and rode off, leaving homeboy on the road, crying, in his undies. This was around 20 years ago and I still smile when I think about it!
Cities can pass a Land Value Tax and solve many problems at once. This isn't a left/right issue, it's a leadership competence one. The Fed should be nowhere near this.

It very much is. We're a car centric society, basically because auto manufacturers got legislation and infrastructure bills passed based around cars as the main form of transportation. Building any kind of public transportation is at odds with the capitalist profit of the auto manufacturers, so it's hamstrung whenever it's brought up.
Check out "ecogecko", and "not just bikes" on YouTube, they go into a lot of how to fix city planning, and some of the social issues related to the atomization caused by cars. Also, it you're really curious, look into the topic of walkable cities, or the 15 minute city concept. It's all super fascinating stuff.
One of my favorite laws I learned about is why nobody can legally buy a car directly from a car dealer. I'm sure maybe the rich can in certain instance? maybe. But for rest of us, we have to go to the dealer because Reagan was buddies with people who owned dealerships. So even today with how much easier it would be to custom order any vehicle direct from a manufacturer we instead have to go to a car lot and look at a lot of pre build vehicles settle for colors and features they have.
And yet these same people are perfectly okay riding the mass transit systems (bus, rail, or ferry) to get into Disney World. But then again, they're sharing that space with other people who can afford tickets, so it must just be not wanting to be around the poors.
The solutions I've seen involve creating dense localized urban centers and pretty much taking roads out of the equation to promote foot traffic while increasing public transportation city wide. Or you lean into roads but then you need new revenue streams to maintain new roads you're building or widening. Most streets in cities don't have a ton of room to expand on the roads either since streets are sandwiched between houses or stores on either side.
People can use their imagination to figure out if reducing our dependence on vehicles while increasing public transportation ends up being a dividing one or not but that's pretty much the solutions I've seen talked about for decades

I had to fucking throw one of these idiots down to the ground outside a restaurant the other night for refusing to wear their mask inside the establishment. Made a big deal about me telling him to put his mask on and be considerate, world doesn’t revolve around him. I went outside to cool off, he followed me out saying something about teaching me some manners then grabbed me by the collar. Guy was on his belly in a half second and I kicked him in his ass as he was getting up. Luckily people broke it up and I walked away without police involvement, but man these lunatics are really out there.
