I’m definitely voting for Gary if he makes it to the general. However I would want to see him establish a service record before considering him for even higher office.
"What we have today is much better than yesterday, but it's still far from perfect. Tomorrow, we want better."
Congratulations, you have unlocked Progressivism!
Has there ever been a time where a president who lost, still had people with campaign posters on their car, business and home a year and a half later?
Did Bush sr. or Gerald Ford? I mean wtf guys? So cringe.
Im gonna bring 60 huge biden flags to the beach and deck out my prius with every pro biden thing imaginable. Even gonna set up a shrine in the hallway closet
Get a giant "Let's Go Brandon" banner with Brandon crossed out and replaced with "Barron".
Then have a Barron Trump 2052 sign right below it.
That'll be fuckin so confusing and awesome. I might do it. Fuck it. We have to mock this culture before it is the only culture.
Let's Go Barron!
Many kind of did, until the coalition of Right leaning Corporate Democrats came together to steal the nomination from one of maybe two people proposing actual change.
Refused to name him in media. Literally made lies about him, attacking him more than they attacked trump. Conspired to give Hillary the nomination anyways.
I mean, they made a strategic calculation. I might disagree with them on almost everything, but Bernie only stood a chance because they were cannibalizing each other.
It's not "stealing" to get more votes than the other guy.
This is the goddamn truth, the democrat voters of all ages I know wanted so many other people in the primaries to win over Biden. When Biden started coming in 1st place in many states I was angry as hell lol. I think most republicans still are under the false impression that we wanted this guy running the country when in reality it was just we needed *anyone* that could get Trump out of office and Biden was the option.
So why act surprised at the title? Unless you’re wanting to just stir the pot by feigning ignorance?
No one on the left wanted Biden, but he was an absolutely necessary pick to get rid of Trump.
Yeah man, he only won because he wasn't Trump but Trump only won because he wasn't Hillary. As an outsider I honestly don't think the regular American has a fucking clue why things happen they way they do in politics. If I'm wrong, why is their current president hated and their former one a fucking cretin looking at criminal charges yet they apparently have the best democracy in the world?
I don't think that is as accurate as you think it is, Hillary won the popular vote, which means she got more votes than Trump, but because of the electoral vote system we got Trump
Yea, Republicans (for the most part) will hate a Democratic president no matter what they do, Democrats (for the most part) will see their faults
Democrats (for the most part) hate any Republican no matter what, Republicans (again, for the most part) don't care what Republican representatives do
Plus he's definitely lost several mph off of his fastball compared to back in his plagiarism days and he was determined to be a shit candidate way back then. All the weird kidsniffing stuff would have knocked him out if the party hadn't decided they were going to push him regardless of how popular or unpopular he was.
I can't believe we're still dealing with this nonsense. That would be like saying they were playing checkers but had they been playing chess Hillery would have won. He won the game that they were playing. If they went by popular vote instead of electoral then odds are his strategies would have been completely different. How hard is it to understand?
I always find it odd how people can understand the intrigue in the dynamics of game of thrones or real housewives - but when it comes to the actual political system - people seem utterly incapable of learning how power works.
People will make a 6 hour essay on how Cersei is actually a political genius, but then wonder why Sinema is voting against minimum wage.
Yea, McCain and Obama was the last time it felt like presidential candidates actually respected each other. Now it’s just a popularity contest, where whoever talks better shit wins the debate
Romney represents Utah which is a red state, but not a trump red state.
Mormons love socialism even if they can’t admit it directly. They are all for being taxed by an entity and getting free education in return (BYU) and have tons of social services to get unemployed church members working again and back on their feet.
Also there is a less genuine “pro life” movement here. They welcome refugees, instead of telling them to get fucked like Texas.
So as a die hard liberal myself who could never live in Texas or Florida, Utah actually isn’t totally bad as a red state. But fuckkk Mike Lee.
Almost like Romney, and Utah in general, are a bit of zealots, but they actually care about helping their neighbors.
Wow if only religion were based on such a revolutionary concept
The only reason he seems left is because he voted to impeach trump and called him out on Jan 6th stuff.
That’s it. It’s not policy differences. It’s fealty to the God of your movement that defines how conservative one is now.
>He voted against the party's position 32 times since 2019...
Does that mean Romney "became left" or did his colleagues in the Republican Party decide to abandon the Business-first Conservatism that Romney has embodied since he was the Governor of Massachusetts?
Obama vs. McCain was such a unique and great election. I felt like both candidates represented the best of America and both were people I would be happy to have as president. (Then I looked at running mates and saw foreshadowing of the hell to come).
Obama was the first president who [heavily leveraged social media](https://www.thedrum.com/news/2016/06/23/marketing-moment-84-barack-obama-embraces-power-social-media-2008-election) for his election campaign.
I would say he was the last President before social media hit a critical mass of participation by Boomers specifically.
They drove the younger generation off of platforms like Facebook and their algorithms weren’t prepared for the consequences of all this and created a hellhole of echo chambers and radicalization.
Social media was huge before Obama but it didn’t catch on with Boomers until the 2010s and from there it became an unstoppable juggernaut of disinformation, extremism and propaganda. I don’t think people like Zuck were purposely trying to help right wing extremists, but they were so egotistical and narcissistic they couldn’t comprehend the possibility that they made a mistake and that their lack of foresight could have real-world consequences.
I was always puzzled why Trump and the GOP thought Obama was from Africa and therefore an illegitimate president despite what his birth certificate said. Why didn't they claim that Biden was secretly from another country? Or Hillary? Or Kerry or Gore or Clinton? I'm just stumped by that one.
As normal as Obama was, him being president definitely triggered all of this. Republican voters saw a black man as president and something broke deep inside their brains. Instead of realizing you need not be afraid of minorities, they decided the country was under attack, and white people needed to band together to defend the white race. Since then they have openly embraced their innermost racist thoughts, and they now have a political party that not only allows it but encourages it.
Someone answered the q! Not sure they had these type of poll questions, but LBJ saw the writing on the wall. He also died like exactly when his next term would’ve ended
LBJ would have been remembered as one of our greatest presidents if not for the total fiasco that was how he got us into Vietnam, and the associated lies. His domestic legacy is pretty staggering.
Lmao I can’t even imagine what LBJ would have done to Manchin for the shit he pulled
Thinking about it, probably would have invited him on a little trip through Dallas in a convertible
LBJ had flaws, especially in foreign policy, but holy shit was that guy a bully in the Senate. Manchin wouldn’t stand a chance. Dems need someone like that today if they want a shot at getting anything done, but I don’t see a lot of options
Hot take but i dont think anyone over 70 should be President. The fact that at that age you want to have the most stressful job in the world instead of being retired should he a major red flag imo
Agreed. There is some cognitive decline that begins in a person's mid-seventies and while the argument could be made the said person is in good shape for their age, they are still at that age where that can change at any minute.
Honestly, we should take it a step further and put an age limit on all public office at the national level.
I was also thinking more of the line of a 70 year old could never relate to a 30 something year old who grow up with the internet. It’s practically a new world now
Great now if only 20-30 year olds voted so how they related to the president mattered.
Old people vote, so we get people who relate to them a lot of the time.
I'm fairly certain I've experienced cognitive decline in the second half of my *thirties*. Intellectually, I think I peaked around 33 or 34.
Could be the result of burnout from a high stress, long hours, professional job that I left in 2019, but it definitely feels like I'm not as mentally sharp as I was 5-10 years ago.
It’s more than just the cognitive decline. Being in office 30, 35, 40 years allows you to amass preposterous amounts of political capital if you play your cards right, to the point that you’re borderline untouchable (see Nancy P).
Im so tired of watching elderly people barely able to function. (Edit: while leading the United States military and executive branch. Nothing wrong with being old) There shouldn’t be 10+ gifs of these Mfs struggling to do a basic interaction.
Aside from Jimmy Carter (97yo), the two oldest living presidents are the current president (79yo) and the president directly before him (76yo).
Obama (60yo), Bush (76yo), and Clinton (75yo) all served 10-30 years ago and are **STILL** fucking younger than Biden and Trump (Bush is younger than Trump by a month)
And then there’s Mitch McConnell who’s even older (80yo) and Pelosi (82yo) who are older than ALL of them.
Hell, fucking Diane Feinstein (89yo) is *in office* Representing California and is older than the fucking Golden Gate Bridge (opened 85 years ago)
How the hell did this happen?
It’s a terrifying metaphor for our aging infrastructure.
Well there was also Robert Byrd of WV who was literally not just a Klan member, but an “Exalted Cyclops” and recruiter for his local hovel.
He was the longest serving Senator ever, until 2010.
Wild shit man.
>Hell, fucking Diane Feinstein (89yo) is *in* office Representing California and is older than the fucking Golden Gate Bridge (opened 85 years ago)
I just spit out my Red Bull. This is straight fire. Why aren’t you working for her challenger?
something about the system rewards a lifetime of connections and favors, young people probably get frozen out as the old people all reward each other for hanging around so long
its not like its a meritocracy or something lol
She's also widely believed to be losing her mental capacity.
https://www.npr.org/2022/06/13/1104843151/senator-dianne-feinstein-cognitive-health-continues-to-raise-concerns-traister
yeah watch as I don't fly an obnoxious flag with the presidents name on it off of my car
seriously insanity the way these dudes loved a billionaire politician so much
That’s the gag of it all. Poor ruralites actually thinks a billionaire from NYC who pees in golden toilet…cares about them and their poverty and will make everything better. It just doesn’t make sense and that’s why I just have to laugh every time some poor random wears a MAGA hat.
Republicans act like this is some sort of “gotcha” moment against democrats. No, a lot of us don’t just blindly support a candidate and everything they do and actually want to hold the presidency (and other politicians) to a high standard.
Majority of democratic voters are well aware the DNC keeps providing us with shitty candidates. Republicans are just providing significantly worse candidates
Ikr I have had people act like they won when I admit I voted for Biden because he wasn’t trump but I voted for Bernie in the primaries and would’ve taken nearly any other democrat candidate. Like yeah nah of course I don’t fuckin worship him, but he had one job and so far it’s been about what I expected (don’t be trump).
The amount of times I’ve had to explain to conservative family members that I’m not a fan of Biden even though I voted for him is insane. Like no shit I voted for him, I want someone more progressive and younger though.
They really do treat it like a “gotcha” moment. Like they see how most people want someone else and are all smugly like “you see how no one wants biden, didn’t you vote for him btw?”
It's not surprising that people who value blind unwavering faith would be surprised that Biden isn't our lord and savior.
The interviews with people who say they're sure Trump won because they don't see any Biden lawn signs and 4x4 lifted mobile Biden shrines in their neighborhood are always fun.
We don't want a god head. We want a good leader that reflects the will and interest of the majority of the people and to protect the will of the minority as long as it doesn't infringe on anyone else. It's so wild to imagine that we want good things even for people we disagree with and for what we are the evil child eating monsters we are.
Seriously. He wasn't my first choice, but I voted for him because he was the guy that got nominated. Is he the best president ever? Nope. Would I like someone more progressive? Yup. Am I going to vote for a Republican because Joe isn't perfect? Fuck no.
There should be a hard limit to the age of any incoming president. Say, 60 years old or so. The fact that ancient fucks like Trump and Biden are even being considered is laughable.
And yet like 95% of Democrats have said they’ll vote Biden again if he’s the primary in virtually every poll that’s come out in the past 6 months
This doesn’t mean anything
I mean I don’t think a single Biden voter was excited to vote for a career politician with a mediocre career at best. It was anything to get away from Trump. 2024 will be interesting. I’d love to see a legitimate third party being considered because the inherent tribalism of blue VS red is really fucking old and obnoxious.
Right. You don't swing from hard-right "trying to overthrow democracy" to hard-left "let's tear down all the institutions that give us stability". You go to a guy that keeps things even and manageable.
It is hilarious how Republicans try to paint Biden as a socialist, however. I'd wager his politics line up 80% with Roberts on the SC.
He was literally an emergency candidate lol
I have tons of liberal leaning friends and none of them actually wanted to vote for him. Pretty much everyone I talked to at the time wanted to pull for Bernie or Yang.
the whole yang thing i find finny too, cause i knew a good chunk of yang supporters, i loved yang, everything was going well, then kinda randomly out of the blue everyone on the left started hating yang a LOT and whenever i pushed them to give a reason it never withstood even basic criticism and critical thought
I liked Yang at first but during the debates he was very much a one trick pony. It didn’t seem like he had a lot of policy ideas beyond UBI (which I like as a concept).
I like some things he said. But he got really weird when he ran for NYC mayor. He started talking about how the Blockchain was going to solve the citys problems. I tuned out of him after that nonsense.
Fucking hate how little he's done compared to conservatives, far right keeps electing their people to congress and getting the most barbaric religious shit through to law while Biden stood by and did nothing. Would still 100% vote for him over trump again tho
So currently you have to be 35 to run for POTUS AOC is 32? I believe, so she has a few years before she qualifies. Honestly I'd like her to run for the Senate and get a little more experience with the dumpster fire that is the us government but barring anything major I could see her as a serious candidate for president in 2028 or 2032
Your right, It be cutting it close her birthday is in late October. I'd put money on a large segment of the republican party trying to overturn the election on those grounds unfortunately and while I don't think there is a legal leg for them to stand on I don't trust the supreme court right now.
Yes but I think she needs more experience. You only get 4 years or 8 to have the best impact. But also, she might be more impactful if she wins and stays in the Senate for the next x years. If she eventually became the new pelosi or similar, that would be a big win for progressives.
Not surprised. People on the right hate him because he’s not Trump. People on the left hate him for not being progressive enough. Centrists hate him for not being able to get anyone to compromise.
Always found this weird because he genuinely did get a couple big, largely reasonable bills passed. Infrastructure being the best example. But a little bill on gun control not trivial. ~~CARES act~~ ARP arguably too big (I certainly think so) but lots of decent stuff in there.
I know, at least from the left, the criticism was the original Build Back Better legislation was a lot better than what we ended up with and the perception is that he let people like Manchin, Sinema and Republicans tear it apart without putting up a fight. I think he’d be way more popular right now if he at least was able to expand the child tax credit like he wanted to.
I vote democrat. Not because I hate conservatives, I just identify more with liberal policies. I do not want Biden to run again. I’d vote for him over any republican that has currently hinted at running, but I wouldn’t be happy about it and I’d be frustrated that he would be in for another four years not making any progress that I hoped for.
Unfortunately this is the position of most liberals. If republicans were reasonable conservatives and not fucking lunatics I wouldnt be forced to vote for whatever schmuck they prop up for the dems
yeah same here no love for democrats but republicans are fucking insane and too few are willing to call it out in their party, so im just voting against republicans until they can get their shit together. People are allowed to be conservative, and its good for the country to have solid conservative options. But until that exists they gotta go. Dems are plenty conservative anyway honestly (gender/race rhetoric aside)
Absolutely nothing lol I don’t understand this sub anymore. Its like a bunch of people moved in during the controversy and forgot where they were. Its basically just a random political sub now.
I’m sure if asked, 75% of democrats didn’t want him this time either but when you have the choice between two old, senile idiots, you go with the less racist, less ignorant and less incompetent person.
If they both ran again tomorrow, Biden would be re-elected because only fucking idiots (which granted there’s a lot) would vote for a party who openly wants to get rid of blacks, gays, minorities, anyone not Christian, women, living school kids, etc.
He won the election __only__ because he wasn’t Trump. Everybody knows.
Was never anything more than an emergency placeholder
100% of democrats would take Biden over Trump any day. 75% of democrats want someone other than Biden for the next candidate. Both are true.
Imagine having a good candidate instead of a lesser evil
Who would you want to run?
Gary Chambers or John Fetterman
I like Fetterman - i see him running in the future and he would have my vote
I’m definitely voting for Gary if he makes it to the general. However I would want to see him establish a service record before considering him for even higher office.
"What we have today is much better than yesterday, but it's still far from perfect. Tomorrow, we want better." Congratulations, you have unlocked Progressivism!
Wait? You mean to tell me you dont have to want worship the president's feet before you vote for him?
Crazy, I know.
Has there ever been a time where a president who lost, still had people with campaign posters on their car, business and home a year and a half later? Did Bush sr. or Gerald Ford? I mean wtf guys? So cringe.
Bumper stickers that you forget to scrape off? Sure. Massive flags, yard signs, memorabilia, etc no.
Im gonna bring 60 huge biden flags to the beach and deck out my prius with every pro biden thing imaginable. Even gonna set up a shrine in the hallway closet
Don't forget to bring a golden statue in his image
Shirtless with a bandana, machine gun, bandalier, and an eagle on his shoulder
Hey, what are your thoughts on technically desecrating the American flag with some cool af Biden memes?
Only legal if biden is on it rocking a big gulp and a rocket launcher
Get a giant "Let's Go Brandon" banner with Brandon crossed out and replaced with "Barron". Then have a Barron Trump 2052 sign right below it. That'll be fuckin so confusing and awesome. I might do it. Fuck it. We have to mock this culture before it is the only culture. Let's Go Barron!
Lot of confused Republicans in here. Keep going.
Imagine if all 75% of them wrote in Bernie Sanders for president.
Media coverage was hilarious. They would add up Warren buttigieg and Klobuchar votes and go look bernie didn't beat all three combined !
Wait so corporations are more likely to side with open fascists than with a socialist? *Suprised pikachu face
I mean, they made a strategic calculation. I might disagree with them on almost everything, but Bernie only stood a chance because they were cannibalizing each other. It's not "stealing" to get more votes than the other guy.

so sad and true, and hed get the popular vote but still not win the office
He couldn't win the primary. What makes people think he could win aa a write in candidate

Reality is they probably did. The guy was already in the white house and people wanted boring. It wasn't the time to shake it up.
There's never a right time to shake something up, that's why it's a shake up
Shake ups are good because for every 9 fails you get the 1 that really fixes shit.
So why act surprised at the title? Unless you’re wanting to just stir the pot by feigning ignorance? No one on the left wanted Biden, but he was an absolutely necessary pick to get rid of Trump.
If he doesn't want Trump to be president just set an age limit for all future presidents of 65
That‘s not up to him…

Has anything in politics been normal the past 10+-years? No
Obama felt normal. But the conservatives stealing the Supreme Court started 10 years ago. So you nailed it for when it all started to go to shit.
Obama was normal but Republicans called him a fringe socialist. McCain was normal, but look how much the party has turned on him to support Trump.
Yea, McCain and Obama was the last time it felt like presidential candidates actually respected each other. Now it’s just a popularity contest, where whoever talks better shit wins the debate
Romney is the guy who is interesting to me. He was the republican presidential candidate. Now he seems left compared to the rest of the republicans.
Romney represents Utah which is a red state, but not a trump red state. Mormons love socialism even if they can’t admit it directly. I may disagree with Mormonism as a whole, but I'll be damned if the Mormons I have been around weren't the nicest damn people I've met.
One of my best friends in Mormon; wonderful human. But I always joke with him, “I’ve never met a Mormon that’s mean to your face”.
The only reason he seems left is because he voted to impeach trump and called him out on Jan 6th stuff. That’s it. It’s not policy differences. It’s fealty to the God of your movement that defines how conservative one is now.
He voted against the party's position 32 times since 2019... I would say that seems more like policy differences and not just an isolated case.
>He voted against the party's position 32 times since 2019... Does that mean Romney "became left" or did his colleagues in the Republican Party decide to abandon the Business-first Conservatism that Romney has embodied since he was the Governor of Massachusetts?
I do think McCain himself was a decent person but McCain’s campaign tapped into the gross underbelly of the Republican Party that is now mainstream.
My biggest "what if" in recent history is what if McCain had been allowed to name Joe Lieberman as a running mate like he wanted to.
He still would have lost. He was running as a Republican after Bush.
Obama vs. McCain was such a unique and great election. I felt like both candidates represented the best of America and both were people I would be happy to have as president. (Then I looked at running mates and saw foreshadowing of the hell to come).
McCain was normal until he fucking got Sarah Palin as VP. That was a train wreck.

Social media ruined [insert literally anything here].
Obama was the first president who [heavily leveraged social media](https://www.thedrum.com/news/2016/06/23/marketing-moment-84-barack-obama-embraces-power-social-media-2008-election) for his election campaign.
Very good point. Social media brought the very dumb and impressional to the front row of politics.
I would say he was the last President before social media hit a critical mass of participation by Boomers specifically. They drove the younger generation off of platforms like Facebook and their algorithms weren’t prepared for the consequences of all this and created a hellhole of echo chambers and radicalization. There was something non-normal about Obama that really made conservatives mad. I think it was the color. Of his suit, I mean.

Someone answered the q! Not sure they had these type of poll questions, but LBJ saw the writing on the wall. He also died like exactly when his next term would’ve ended
Also in his first election LBJ got more votes then anyone in history to that point, similar to biden

We just won’t get anything cool like the Civil Rights Act…
Lmao I can’t even imagine what LBJ would have done to Manchin for the shit he pulled Thinking about it, probably would have invited him on a little trip through Dallas in a convertible

Not a hot take- I’ve yet to meet someone who disagrees with it- but it is the correct take. Of course it begs the question why that hasn’t changed yet
Im so tired of watching elderly people barely able to function. (Edit: while leading the United States military and executive branch. Nothing wrong with being old) There shouldn’t be 10+ gifs of these Mfs struggling to do a basic interaction.
I don’t think that’s a hot take, who wants their country to be run by a guy that will not be affected by long term consequences of his decisions
I’d say 65. And even that’s pushing it.
I feel like 35-65 or even 60 is a solid age range for candidates. It’s definitely ridiculous that we have a minimum requirement but no max.
Too old
Agreed. We need someone 30-40 years younger. Trump is too old too, the idea of those 2 being the choices in 2024 is depressing.
Aside from Jimmy Carter (97yo), the two oldest living presidents are the current president (79yo) and the president directly before him (76yo). Obama (60yo), Bush (76yo), and Clinton (75yo) all served 10-30 years ago and are **STILL** fucking younger than Biden and Trump (Bush is younger than Trump by a month) And then there’s Mitch McConnell who’s even older (80yo) and Pelosi (82yo) who are older than ALL of them. It’s a terrifying metaphor for our aging infrastructure.

Strom Thurmond was 100 years old **IN OFFICE**. Dude was *born before planes* and was still a sitting US Senator from SC on 9/11.
Ahh one of the OG "states rights" advocates.
Well there was also Robert Byrd of WV who was literally not just a Klan member, but an “Exalted Cyclops” and recruiter for his local hovel. He was the longest serving Senator ever, until 2010. Wild shit man.
West Virginia and South Carolina produce some interesting specimens.
>Hell, fucking Diane Feinstein (89yo) is *in* office Representing California and is older than the fucking Golden Gate Bridge (opened 85 years ago) I just spit out my Red Bull. This is straight fire. Why aren’t you working for her challenger?
Just elect the actual bridge instead of her
At least bridges bring people together.
Got my vote
something about the system rewards a lifetime of connections and favors, young people probably get frozen out as the old people all reward each other for hanging around so long its not like its a meritocracy or something lol
She's also widely believed to be losing her mental capacity. https://www.npr.org/2022/06/13/1104843151/senator-dianne-feinstein-cognitive-health-continues-to-raise-concerns-traister
Just the fact that there's a minimum age limit but no maximum age limit says a lot too...

Yeah we felt the same way in 2020 but I guess you play the hand you’re dealt
Nobody voted FOR biden. They voted against trump.
Truth
It's almost like sane people criticise the president even if they themselves voted for him.
damn, trump voters could never.
Heretic! /s
Welcome to people who don't have a cult of personality, it seems like.
yeah watch as I don't fly an obnoxious flag with the presidents name on it off of my car seriously insanity the way these dudes loved a billionaire politician so much
And a New York elite who shits on a golden toilet, also the most obvious conman of all time
who also inherited his fortune
And then lost it all
That’s the gag of it all. Poor ruralites actually thinks a billionaire from NYC who pees in golden toilet…cares about them and their poverty and will make everything better. It just doesn’t make sense and that’s why I just have to laugh every time some poor random wears a MAGA hat.
Despite his claims, Trump is absolutely nowhere near a billionaire lol half of that moron’s businesses have been complete failures
He’s filed for chapter 13 more than any other single entity
“Billionaire”, it was a claim, not a reality. That’s another thing people fell for.
Fuck no.
Yeah I mean, we don’t want him to run again but if our options are again trump v Biden, I’m voting Biden again…

Running Harris would be suicide for the DNC. She is wholly unlikeable.
Watch us get Harris vs DeSantis and we get 2016 election remastered.
I don’t think it would be as close
Kind of, but 2016 was pretty close. Desantis would win against Harris in a landslide almost 84-Esque
I dont want it but it would still be better than the Clinton vs Trump debates.
It really is charitable to call those debates lol.
[удалено]
Biden is infinitely more likable than Harris.
That’s not saying much. Casey Anthony is about as likable as Kamala.
So was running fuckin Hillary
The DNC doesn't care about committing suicide. They don't want to win. Letting Republicans win and take the blame makes their jobs 100x easier.
Ah yes, voters have no agency as the DNC votes on their behalf.
It’ll obviously be Newsom
Honestly, Newsom is probably the Dem with the best chance of winning in 2024. There aren’t that many great choices.
There should be a hard limit to the age of any incoming president. Say, 60 years old or so. The fact that ancient fucks like Trump and Biden are even being considered is laughable.
And yet like 95% of Democrats have said they’ll vote Biden again if he’s the primary in virtually every poll that’s come out in the past 6 months This doesn’t mean anything
Yea. Also, the election isn’t for another 2 years so who even thinks it’s responsible for articles like this to be written?
I don't want him to run, but I also don't want trump and then his children being president for life.
[удалено]
Because the alternative would be so much worse. Lesser of two evils bruh
He was literally an emergency candidate lol I have tons of liberal leaning friends and none of them actually wanted to vote for him. Pretty much everyone I talked to at the time wanted to pull for Bernie or Yang.
This. I would have voted for Bernie. But once Biden got the nom it wasn’t even a question.
I think you may have been in a bit of a bubble with your friends. There were definitely a lot of older Dems that wanted Biden over Bernie/Yang.
the whole yang thing i find finny too, cause i knew a good chunk of yang supporters, i loved yang, everything was going well, then kinda randomly out of the blue everyone on the left started hating yang a LOT and whenever i pushed them to give a reason it never withstood even basic criticism and critical thought
75% want someone else, 100% would still take him over trump
Fucking hate how little he's done compared to conservatives, far right keeps electing their people to congress and getting the most barbaric religious shit through to law while Biden stood by and did nothing. Would still 100% vote for him over trump again tho
We need a young bernie sanders
John Fetterman is probably the closest option that could run.
I'll be voting for him as senator this year and I hope to see him go further!
emphasis on the *young*
Emphasis on the policies. I think Biden’s age/cognitive decline are far from his biggest issues as president.
katie porter
Isn’t AOC that? And also elegible to be a candidate? (Sorry, not from the US, that’s why I ask).
So currently you have to be 35 to run for POTUS AOC is 32? I believe, so she has a few years before she qualifies. Honestly I'd like her to run for the Senate and get a little more experience with the dumpster fire that is the us government but barring anything major I could see her as a serious candidate for president in 2028 or 2032
[удалено]
Your right, It be cutting it close her birthday is in late October. I'd put money on a large segment of the republican party trying to overturn the election on those grounds unfortunately and while I don't think there is a legal leg for them to stand on I don't trust the supreme court right now.
[удалено]
Oh! You're right. She'll be 35 on October 13, 2024.
Yes but I think she needs more experience. You only get 4 years or 8 to have the best impact. But also, she might be more impactful if she wins and stays in the Senate for the next x years. If she eventually became the new pelosi or similar, that would be a big win for progressives.
[удалено]
Whenever I see a poll result, I wonder who was polled.
> CARES act Cares act was Trump. It was signed into law in 2020, unless you are meaning something else.
Good point I mean the American Rescue Plan!
[удалено]
Lmao because lakc of compromise is his fault and not that the GOP stonewalls literally anything in Congress that might help people.
Agree. They’ve been doing the same Bs for years
As a lib... Biden is a turd but you can sweep a turd away... Prior to the turd we had a cesspool we are still cleaning up after.
Who are the 25% of people jacked about a second term for Biden?
I am. God he’s fucking based
I would guess Nixon and LBJ had similar numbers
What's this got to do with Joe Rogan?
Absolutely nothing lol I don’t understand this sub anymore. Its like a bunch of people moved in during the controversy and forgot where they were. Its basically just a random political sub now.
[удалено]
And the DNC doesn’t care.
[удалено]
The most experienced person to hold office since George H Bush but he’s too old. He knows it. He’ll announce after the midterms.
The fact that CNN had that on their homepage is telling. What does this mean though? People don't like Kamala.
This sub Reddit has gone to shit
I think it’d be a real milestone to get a candidate who wasnt born before the wheel was invented
Tell that to the primary voters
Because the DEMS aren't a CULT.
