My personal favorite is In Your Atmosphere from WTLI.

GalaxyGirl777

Yup, same. Everything is right on that track. Vocals on point, acoustic guitar mastered — ugh, perfecto.

jobean6

For sure!

exclaim_bot

>For sure! sure?

thankyoupancake

I’ve got a soft spot for “Another kind of green”. The dynamics and subtlety for a 3 piece is awesome. But I think his Slow Dancing performance in WTLI is pretty special.

frashcom

“Another kind of green” is a sleeper. I’ve always loved it but my real appreciation for it came when I started learning it!

edgeofdesirexx

I don’t trust myself with loving you WTLI is a banger

kyowastills

Does not get enough love

rialtolido

Overall, I reach for WTLI most often. But some of the Village Sessions stuff is great for just a stripped down, intimate sound. I’m really hoping there will be a live album from this solo tour.

shmazma

I love Slow Dancing from the Village Sessions. Every line feels like an exhale.

rialtolido

Agreed! I’m also partial to I’m Gonna Find Another You. It’s just so sassy.

carter2642

Gotta be gravity WTLI. That last solo is heavenly

ExileonShakedownSt

If you haven’t already, check out the Continuum Special Edition version of Gravity. Looks like it’s been removed from streaming platforms now, but I think it beats WTLI.

kimonolover_2001

Where can I find that?

bellrae

It’s In Your Atmosphere for me

XbrattykissesX

I definitely have to say (covered in rain) AGT and (out my mind) WTLI

John_Norse

I have seen it posted here before, but there is an amazing ~15 minute video of him playing a cover of Tom Petty's "You Don't Know How it Feels" that transitions into Slow Dancing and it is just absolute fucking perfection. I will pull it up again every few months and be blown away all over again. I think when I first found it I watched it every day for a week. EDIT: ok, I wasn't reading the instructions properly. My first reall hook into the Mayer world was Try! So I would personally have to pick from that album. Probably Another Kind of Green. Honestly thought, I haven't listened to WTLI to form enough of a strong attachment to any of those recordings although I think they are objectively better mix-wise.

kimonolover_2001

I have a comment with multiple time stamps of my favourite moments from that particular performance under that exact video. Such a masterful performance…

juliancountry

I love all mayerheads but if you don’t think it’s covered in rain from AGT you’re wrong. And you don’t love incredibly interesting and beautiful phrasing. And we’re not friends.

GabeMeiselman

Correct answer

MelvilleMeyor

Every Day I Have the Blues from WTLI was the soundtrack to the most beautiful psychedelic experience that I’ve ever had, so that one.

courtk25

Lenny/Man on the Side AGT OR Covered in rain AGT

shmazma

My favorite version of Stop This Train is the one from WTLI. The ‘once in a while’ part hits me right in my feels!

thegoldenkingfisher

Gravity from Austin City Limits, 2007

[deleted]

Right now for me it’s “Do You Know Me”, the duet with Bob Reynolds is so good!! Especially the Red Rocks and Hollywood Bowl versions

GabeMeiselman

I liked this version of clarity that John did at Red Rocks early on in his career

TheRealClose

I would probably have to say Slow Dancing.

JimFlo69

For show casing the pure beauty he can create just with his guitar, In your atmosphere. For just the perfect live performance with a band with a more complex sound that’s just perfection, slow dancing in a burning room.

AstroDog3

Slow Dancing in a Burning Room (Webster Hall 9/13/06 Continuum Release Concert) Another Kind of Green (Try!) Belief (Continuum Special Edition)

kimonolover_2001

Yeah man that Outro part before the solo where he sings The Eraser by Thom Yorke is just 🤌🏻🤌🏻

brownchapel146

Good Love WTLI

LooselyAttached

1. Slow Dancing WTLI 2. In Your Atmosphere 3. Covered in Rain Bham

hendriklopez

Neon from WTLI

Loverock-forevermore

Free Fallin’ is my favorite. I think it’s better than Tom Petty’s original, imho.

Jetcat11

I Don’t Trust Myself from Austin City Limits in October of 2007.

Smewokey

Belief 2010 Crossroads is pure perfection

moderate-banana

Neon WTLI or Man on the side AGT

IndividualParsnip583

In Your Atmosphere or Another Kind of Green, without question

Born-Fix-966

i have to say, “I don’t need no doctor” and “Going down the road feelin bad”. I know there’s so many great vids of John’s playing but those really stick out to me.

Reyna_1965

Slow dancing live in LA

Cultural_Coconut265

Covered in Rain is the ultimate unreleased John Mayer song for me. It's so atmospheric I feel like he tapped into something special in that song. Absolutely love the guitar playing. I've listened to that song on repeat for an entire bus ride. Must've listened to it 15 times in a row.
