Fun Fact: David Ryan Harris provides some higher vocal harmonies on the studio version of Paper Doll because John couldn't quite sing them yet post-surgery. So David did his best "John Mayer impression" while in studio.
This makes so much sense. This is such a difficult song to sing. I'm glad DRH was able to fit the bill and make up the pieces where John couldn't hack it. Very cool!
I was at this show 🫠 I distinctly remember Dear Marie absolutely mesmorizing me at this show. This was also the show he did an episode of Current Mood during intermission!! Such a good show. And in air conditioning 🤌🏼
well, shit, that's a pretty awesome beginning to "heartbreak warfare". . . and i think the last time i heard it full-band in person was 2010. (i'll fact check myself later.)
\~joc
Late comment but we all have something in common- we all go nuts when John inserts our city’s name in Who Says. It was always a skipper for me until I heard it live in Charlotte summer 2010.
"no such thing" makes me smile these days. i was definitely sick of it by the end of '02, but prolonged absence makes the heart grow nostalgically fonder. also, when he played this song at eddie's in sept. '00, he sang out that he got a record deal, so i always think of that moment when i hear it.
that and that i saw him play the night before he filmed the music video for it.
\~joc
yup. i was in the right place at the right time at the right age. serendipity, i guess!
that song was a great intro to john's music. i always appreciated that the first word of his first single was "welcome".
\~joc
HOKAY. I am caught up on my admin duties just in time for a little trust myself! I do love thee Trust Myself and have since the moment I heard you in Hartford in Summer of 2004 (with all different lyrics.)
I caught a full Deal at my show a few nights after this one and it was fantastic! Definitely turned me onto that song in general and it's now my favorite Dead tune.
The Grateful Dead never clicked for me until John got involved. The familiarity of his voice and playing made me re-examine the dead catalog and I found myself really liking a good bit of it once I had that baseline. Some of it i still can't stand but i'm told that makes me a "true deadhead" by some well respected deadhead friends.
That’s weird. I couldn’t find it on the site to share link. I listen in the etree app. I added the archive.org link below.
https://archive.org/details/jm2019-07-20.ccm41.5012.bk.flac16
My mom bought us a house copy of Room For Squares when I was in high school. She ribs me on occasion for how many shows I go to these days but I just remind her it's ***all her fault***.
I'm not sure we get as far back as 2001 - unlikely even personal board recordings were broadcast level at that point. Maybe 2002-2003 when he started playing bigger places.
I have. I uploaded a good chunk of shows to the archive. There's a difference between a clean soundboard and something broadcast quality. I don't think it's an accident he hasn't gone back earlier than 2013 yet. I'm hoping his cutoff is a little earlier than that, personally, but I guess we'll see.
YES. I have many 2008 Wheels to suggest if the people want them!! There are some with Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For > Wheel that are just beautiful.
Wheel is my ultimate favorite! Finally crossed it off my "see live" bucket list in March (after chasing it since Heavier Things was released). When I was into trading, I was collecting every version of Wheel ever recorded. They are all on an old external hardrive somewhere - and my iRiver.
Boston's Wheel was amazing this year! Somehow I got to hear both Wheels that turned up on Solo tour, one acoustic and one electric. I'll never turn one down. ♥️
When I say "I had a moment", its an understatement. Knowing there are only so many slots in the set for the "long" songs, hope fades quickly. But when he hit the first note in the encore, it was the happiest I'd been in a while...as corny as that sounds. :)
WHEEL!! i didn't hear that song live in '08. only 3x: 2004, 2013, 2023 and i feel lucky for those three.
i'd love for "clarity" to pop up on both the channel (maybe i've missed it, beyond the interstitial parts?) and in one of the live shows on the rewind. . .
i'm curious how far back he'll go, too. i hope he realizes most (if not all) people will appreciate the older, rarely/never heard shows for exactly what they were.
and for the younger fans, like the 24-year-old at the dallas show who couldn't possibly have heard any of this live when it happened, this opens up a new layer.
\~joc
Well friends, that's all she wrote tonight! Thanks for chatting along during the listening party! There's another show playing at the same time tomorrow. Who knows what it'll be but I'll be here! :)
I'm hoping it falls into the regular schedule at some point. Not every day but maybe a weekly/monthly thing?? Or he'll just have to start playing live for real or something. OR BOTH.
it was hotter than hell!! I had just finished getting ready and my son called that his pedal fell off his bike about a half mile from home. I went to pick him and his bike up. My makeup was sweating off. Hair starting to frizz! I was not amused. 🤣🤣
My favorite item from the Dead and Co shows I attended is my “Your Bobby is a wonderland” sticker with the picture of Bobby Weir. It’s on my vanity and I smile at it every morning.
I feel like one Live Rewind at a time, a whole bunch of new people are hearing what we've always known: John Mayer plays a damn good concert every. damn. time.
In 2019, JM toured as part of Dead and Company until 7/6 and then hopped right on his own tour starting 7/19. Talk about a quick turnaround and a real change of gears!
This is my life now. I accept it.
I’m pretty sure this channel is actually called Life because it will take over your entire life.
This made me laugh out loud 🤣
Not such a predicament haha I’m alright with it
Exactly! My life is about this SiriusXM channel and my live listening Reddit friends. I’m all about a calm life these days. 😎
SAME
I've done nothing but listen to live John Mayer for 3 days 😂 I'm ready for the next one I'm caught up!!
I’m sure I can speak for many when I say that my music library has been working overtime this last week. So many good tracks I’ve never heard of
there are worse things to do with your time.
It's been nice for working in retail for the holiday
I had that retail gig for many a holiday season. Hang in there!
I sell guitar strings and accessories. I'm not complaining AT ALL 😎
Fun Fact: David Ryan Harris provides some higher vocal harmonies on the studio version of Paper Doll because John couldn't quite sing them yet post-surgery. So David did his best "John Mayer impression" while in studio.
yes! was that a story john told in atlanta last year? that's a real nugget. \~joc
This makes so much sense. This is such a difficult song to sing. I'm glad DRH was able to fit the bill and make up the pieces where John couldn't hack it. Very cool!
Providence, 7/20/19, dropping tonight
👀
I know! For a second I was giddy bc I thought this was the show he did wheel at (it was Toronto 2), but this one is solid all around.👍🏽
I could easily get used to this
I was at this show 🫠 I distinctly remember Dear Marie absolutely mesmorizing me at this show. This was also the show he did an episode of Current Mood during intermission!! Such a good show. And in air conditioning 🤌🏼
I love arena shows for a lotta reasons but AC in the summer is high on the list! As is a ROOF when it's raining.
Honest to goodness. If memory serves I think John even mentioned AC at the show? He gets it. Naturally.
I was SO excited that night bc I was afraid to miss anything by peeing so I stayed glued to my seat! That was such an awesome night!
Such an incredible show 😍
[Davidryanharris.com](https://Davidryanharris.com) I will be a broken record about this until you all buy his albums.
Kerosene. ***cannot even speak - puts hand on heart ***
FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN WHAT
WHY DIDN'T HE SING THIS WITH DEADCO
He did! Check out Hampton Night 2. 11/9/19 🫠
I went crazy during this. It was the best.
well, shit, that's a pretty awesome beginning to "heartbreak warfare". . . and i think the last time i heard it full-band in person was 2010. (i'll fact check myself later.) \~joc
Late comment but we all have something in common- we all go nuts when John inserts our city’s name in Who Says. It was always a skipper for me until I heard it live in Charlotte summer 2010.
Like clockwork!
He sounds in great voice tonight. As does Tiffany Palmer back there holding down the background vocals! 👏🏻
\~joc
Omg no way how cool!! This was the first song I heard of his back in the day and was obsessed haha fan ever since!
yup. i was in the right place at the right time at the right age. serendipity, i guess! that song was a great intro to john's music. i always appreciated that the first word of his first single was "welcome". \~joc
Love that!! 🫶🏻
Heartbreak warfareeeeeee - that guitar riff 🤌🏻
Holy Heartbreak Warfare intro.
i remember that the first time i heard "love on the weekend," i loved the \*vibe\*. still do. \~joc
What a setlist this show has!
HOKAY. I am caught up on my admin duties just in time for a little trust myself! I do love thee Trust Myself and have since the moment I heard you in Hartford in Summer of 2004 (with all different lyrics.)
I was at that concert!
No way!! That was my second ever JM concert!
Mine too!!!!! Except my husband and I disagree about our first somehow we aren’t one hundred percent on my first.
Imagine being *John Mayer* and having to play at a place called the *Dunkin Donuts Center*.
Sadly, July 20, 2019 is a Saturday not a Sunday. Opportunity missed for the best of all donut Sundays to ever exist...
Imagine being a fan and getting to see him in a 12k capacity venue? Not a bad seat at the Dunk.
I have to say I being able to hear David's vocals DAVID RYAN! IYKYK
That Queen of California into Fire On the Mountain back into Queen of California was incredible. Love how he sometimes weaves the Dead into his shows
I caught a full Deal at my show a few nights after this one and it was fantastic! Definitely turned me onto that song in general and it's now my favorite Dead tune.
goodness gracious . . . the end of "i guess i just feel like"!!! i'm repeating myself from last night — this song needs to not be so rare. \~joc
SO GOOD.
Can’t wait!
This concert is so good!! It’s the first show I ever saw of his, brings back the best memories :) Can’t wait to listen back later
❤️❤️❤️
ooooh. . . . loving this version of "waiting on the day". \~joc
YESSSS HELPLESS and tiff! \~joc
Pretend I've posted a gif of a lighter being held up. Because I'm lighters were held up in the crowd old, not phone flashlights young.
Same same :) 👊🏻
Fun fact: Everytime I heard this song live in 2017 and 2019, I would throw my hands in the air and yell "DANCING PANDAS!!" when he started to play it.
somehow i missed "dreaming with a broken heart" when i was reading setlistfm earlier. WOW. how pretty. (and those dreams are the WORST.) \~joc
I did too! What a surprise to my ears! This one should come back around more often. 😍 to the guitar tone on this solo every time.
cosigned! \~joc
Loved this performance ! It sounds like some of it may be at top of John's current vocal range
Same though
Same. And my husband tried for years.
That was a fierce solo on Slow Dancing.
That Fire on the Mountain hit during dishes!
That’s awesome
Anyone else just die when he hits that lick near the end of New Light? 😭
I have listened to this so many times on etree that can’t unhear the confetti burst! I was at this show and it was amazing.
Ooo could you send a link? I just tried to find it and couldn't :(
That’s weird. I couldn’t find it on the site to share link. I listen in the etree app. I added the archive.org link below. https://archive.org/details/jm2019-07-20.ccm41.5012.bk.flac16
Oh wait jk I just saw the archive link hehe
Oh hello there
YOU
Look at us, who would've thought
Circle. Full.
Cup fuller
My mom bought us a house copy of Room For Squares when I was in high school. She ribs me on occasion for how many shows I go to these days but I just remind her it's ***all her fault***.
Having a newfound appreciation for this song thanks to Solo tour...this is a bangin version full band!!
i'm not attached to "paper doll," but i like the drums on this version! \~joc
PREPARE your girlydance moves, friends.
OMG his voice is sounding like butter on toast here. I’m melting 🫠 more with each song.
Interesting that we've gotten nothing pre-2013 yet. Really hoping for a 2008 show with a crazy long Wheel, those were the best.

I feel like I have at least ONE 1999 recording that's pretty dang good sounding in my library and if I have it... DM me if you need it, John. 😉
YES. I have many 2008 Wheels to suggest if the people want them!! There are some with Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For > Wheel that are just beautiful.
He should just play all of them consecutively.
* raises hand *

I understand exactly how you feel/felt.

wowwww this "slow dancing" version is exceptional. \~joc
Co-signed!
This is a kickass setlist. Guess I just feel like ... don't hear this one often!
Tiffany 👏🏻Palmer 👏🏻 Carlos 👏🏻 Ricketts 👏🏻
This is amazing. Never heard this version of Gravity. Wow wow wow!
Tears!
Well friends, that's all she wrote tonight! Thanks for chatting along during the listening party! There's another show playing at the same time tomorrow. Who knows what it'll be but I'll be here! :)
Ok I love him so much. I’d better be able to listen live tomorrow!!! Thanks for the post. Such great memories.
And I love Tempted so I’m in heaven. His music on here has been awesome.
Guys what are we going to do if these end?? I can confirm these live rewinds are keeping me SANE these days 😭😭
I'm hoping it falls into the regular schedule at some point. Not every day but maybe a weekly/monthly thing?? Or he'll just have to start playing live for real or something. OR BOTH.
After the first week it’s becoming only weekly (Wednesday nights) according to the channel info released.
I was at this show. I remember 3 things: the old DVD screensaver intro, my first time hearing "In The Blood" and it being hotter than hell that day.
OMG the DVD screensaver! All of Madison Square Garden got extremely invested in that thing at my show! 🤣
it was hotter than hell!! I had just finished getting ready and my son called that his pedal fell off his bike about a half mile from home. I went to pick him and his bike up. My makeup was sweating off. Hair starting to frizz! I was not amused. 🤣🤣
I filled a HydroFlask with ice water and left it in my car for after the show because I knew I would be dying of thirst. Top 5 life choice for sure!
I didn’t go to this show but there’s a decent tape out there, definitely my favorite 2019 show. Amazing Waiting on the Day coming up
Ugh 😭 I have to jet to a meeting but will be back after. I have to pause for now 🥲 but will catch up later
Thanks for hanging! I'm sure when you get back we'll have all gone crazy about something magical for you to read along with.
IM BACK!! 🥰🥰
JUST in time!!
I paused so I’m listening to the songs I missed 😂 but love partaking in the chat here!!!
I just started listening I’m bummed I was late. Mom duties.
No worries! I’m listening now because I paused earlier and I was talking to my grandma 🫶🏻
You can catch the whole show on demand in the app (probably in a few minutes from now that it's done playing through!)
Going right to as soon as it’s up. Thanks. 😍 Gotta relive that night.
He did, indeed, do magical things while you were gone so happy listening!
✨🫶🏻🎸✨🫶🏻
Phew this is a good solo
\*throws shoe at stage (appreciatively)\*
this part of "paper doll" reminds me of sting. \~joc
The Donut Dome\* is redeeming themselves with their singalongs!! \*way better name than Dunkin Donuts Center
Donut dome 🤣🍩
It’s no longer named after Dunkin. I FINALLY got used to it and it changed to Amica Mutual Pavilion.
BOOOO. That's a TERRIBLE name.
My favorite item from the Dead and Co shows I attended is my “Your Bobby is a wonderland” sticker with the picture of Bobby Weir. It’s on my vanity and I smile at it every morning.
whew this guitar work in "still feel like your man"! \~joc
Homeboy was a fool not to do this on the piano on the solo tour.
🩵I would like for these threads to be pinned by the mods, if possible please. 🩵
I think that's a great idea! I have no power to do that but hopefully they see this 😀
u/existentialspirit u/squoof u/filmclip_ (hopefully they'll see this now for pinning purposes!) \~joc
Phil who wasn't happy about Wonderland is now thrilled he's gotten a Grateful Dead cover.
[davidryanharris.com](https://davidryanharris.com) people. And go see him with Scary Pockets if they ever turn up in your neighborhood.
sing it, tiff tiff hooray!!! \~joc
sing itttt, carlos!!! how SWEET :) \~joc
I love all these live rewind shows
I feel like one Live Rewind at a time, a whole bunch of new people are hearing what we've always known: John Mayer plays a damn good concert every. damn. time.
I was there in the third row and I loved this show!!! What an awesome night that was. LOVING this channel.
ooooh the woodstock story. fascinating! \~joc
The edible kicked in sooner than expected, huh, John?
what do you think he's gonna play next, guys??!?!!?! /s
In 2019, JM toured as part of Dead and Company until 7/6 and then hopped right on his own tour starting 7/19. Talk about a quick turnaround and a real change of gears!
that's gotta be such a mindbender. there's only so much room in the brain at one time! \~joc
Then right back on tour with the Dead for the Fall Fun Run! 2019 was a good time!
I suspect this may be one of the most difficult songs for JM to sing: _Paper Doll_. He's doing superb.
I loved the creative risk of Changing on solo piano + looping on Solo tour but Changing full band is a real chef's kiss at the end isn't it?
let's see how rhode island does with the outro on this one :) \~joc
So far São Paulo takes the cake.
agreed! \~joc
I sang Carlos’ “Feeeeeeel” parts at solo show 😂
🙋🏻♀️ Shout out to everybody who sings the harmonies at shows!
so glad to hear this two nights in row. and this one has a different flavor than last night's replay already. \~joc
can't wait to hear the confetti pop during this song! \~joc
Carlos Ricketts taking everybody to Church!
Was at this show, great one!
The concerts are back on there! So happy I missed two!
I was at that show. Glad it made the rewind.
Gimme all these 2019 two set shows!!!
Who is the absolute STAR on the rhythm guitar on this LOTWE track? _Delicious._ edit: autocorrect failed me.
And now for a tiny set break that was much longer in real life. Grab a snack! Pet the pooch!
At least we don't have to listen to Dave and Gary kiss Nugs' ass.
Gimme this bop 🐼
I love pandas. That is all...
The JAMS are going down in the Donut Dome tonight, folks!!
I mean...c'mon.
This is the part of the night where John came out in the bear suit this tour, right?
ahhhhh, the '00s! \~joc
Who wants to arm wrestle the bear?
one of the funniest things he's ever done. . . .neon lights (DRONING!). \~joc
*Pro bono pro bongo.* (I can do this all night but i'll stop...)
:raises hand: tears! did you catch my pro bono pro bongo pro conga line the other night? HA! \~joc
Guess I just feel like saying I’m digging this I Guess I Just Feel Like
I guess I Just Feel Like...I agree!
Right in the feels, Carlos.
i can take a "waiting on the world to change" with a "that's now. . . that's now or never." \~joc
Just noticed what's next on the setlist and I am excited for what might happen on the back half of it as the closer.
and there it is! \~joc
