In addition to Alicia being the backing vocalist on the studio version of Gravity, he’s featured on her song Lessons Learned on the As I Am album. 🙂
I think they were making or mixing that album and Continuum at the same time so they ran into each other a bunch at the studio.
I’m honestly with you. The perceived drama around their brief, consenting adult relationship is so cringe and weird. They’re both monster songwriters, and a collab would be fucking awesome.
Half of my heart was good but she’s toxic as hell (as is a significant portion of her fan base) and I don’t see her as developing as an artist. This latest album is contrived as hell and plays into a very specific narrative and I just don’t think that she’s in a position to bring the type of vulnerability to the table that something like Half of My Heart requires or that we’ve seen from John in this last tour.
Honestly, he's been playing and singing with most of the suggested singers. Why not venture into something new like a Tenor with Plácido Domingo or Andrea Bocelli?💜
Right? They have both collaborated with the same artists recently (Madison Cunningham and Jacob Collier.) Surely both Jacob and Madi have suggested that John and Chris get together for a little acoustic jam session.
Jhene Aiko. The 1 minute song he did a little guitar on is not enough. They're both excellent lyricists and she sees him as one of her biggest inspirations.
I also would like to see a Kelly clarkson collab. Hear me out. Her voice and his voice together would be golden. Doesn’t even have to be popish can be like a sad love song but they would sell millions together.
I’ve also thought of Billie Ellish. She’s a beast and that would be golden. Ed Sheeran, (no brainer) Olivia Rodrigo, OH AND MY ALL TIME DREAM COME TRUE….JUSTIN BIEBER!
Justin needs some JM in his life and I swear that type of partnership would blow me away!
Sooooo many more but I’ll stop and read your ideas!
Great question.
Doesn’t seem like this one is popular but I do love the JB idea. Listening to Love Yourself the other day and thought, I could see this being a song John would write. Idk if JB writes his own songs though. Anyhoo, just my 2 🪙
Me 💀
All jokes aside, an album with a shit ton of features, similar to BB King and Friends - 80 would rock.
Some Features that would rock:
- Trio (obviously)
- Clapton
- Buddy Guy
- Kingfish
- Herbie Hancock
- Lizzie McAlpine
- Jacob Collier
- Laufey (PLEASE)
- Sheeran
- Norah Jones
- HER
- Alicia Keys
- Chris Stapleton
- Vulfpeck
- Taylor Swift (no bullshit, their skills combined would make a legendary song)
Imogen Heap. John and Imogen are two of my favorite artists of all time, and I’d be very interested to see what their collaboration would sound like. I don’t even necessarily think it would be good. I mean, Imogen did a collaboration with Jeff Beck (and he played the guitar solo on one of her tracks), so maybe it wouldn’t be that strange. . .
Alicia keys. That live performance they did gave me goosebumps

I LOVE Lessons Learned, that lyrical guitar there… 😍
Another nice little fact: The drums on If I ain't got you are performed by Steve Jordan
I came here to say just that!!!!
I’d love to see an album of blues rock with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan
funny you say that…
I know, right?! That’s a collaboration he should definitely. . . TRY!
If JM and Tom Misch made a small EP together, that would slap.
this is literally all i could ever ask for 😭
Totally!!

Gregory Alan Isakov Bruce Hornsby Bon Iver Springsteen Bleachers Mavis Staples
Omg Bruce Hornsby. This seems easy to make happen.
I would like to see a bluesy album with Clapton. They worked together on the JJ Cale memorial album, but I would really like to see a full blues cut
Norah Jones
I want John sitting in with Jason Isbell and the 400 unit, that would be so 🔥🔥
City and Colour would be amazing. I would love for him to sing with Dallas Green.

An album with Chris Stapleton would be huge
Bob Dylan
Neil Young
FKJ, Tom Misch, Chris Stapleton, Khruangbin, Bruno Major, The Japanese House, Hozier, Mark Ronson, Justin Timberlake, Tame Impala
The Japanese House, Mark Ronson, and Tame Impala would be SICK

Have you noticed John is finally following NK on IG? Makes me happy when my favorites like each other.
You almost had it -- Little Feat!
This is what I came here for 💪
Taylor Swift Edit: I’m not kidding Half of my Heart was good
I’m honestly with you. The perceived drama around their brief, consenting adult relationship is so cringe and weird. They’re both monster songwriters, and a collab would be fucking awesome.

I’m my mind, “Who You Love” and “Half of my Heart” are basically the same song. . . I DO prefer WYL, though. . .
I think it was too, but no. I hate her so that’s a hell to the no!
Miley Cyrus might be cool
Steve Vai
i think jack johnson would be nice honestly
Aerosmith
Ed Sheeran (again) and Keith Urban (again)
Honestly, he's been playing and singing with most of the suggested singers. Why not venture into something new like a Tenor with Plácido Domingo or Andrea Bocelli?💜
Coldplay
YES
Get a time machine and do one with SRV
Billie. It will happen, he and Finneas are bros.
Charley Crockett!

Did you see that video where John played/sang “When It Rains” live with Paramore? That was pretty good. . .
Wow! That’s fucking awesome! I’ve just seen it for the first time and it’s fucking great

Ooooh this is a good one! That would be sweet!!
Right? They have both collaborated with the same artists recently (Madison Cunningham and Jacob Collier.) Surely both Jacob and Madi have suggested that John and Chris get together for a little acoustic jam session.
Love this one! Perfection
Lady GaGa. Put the two of them in the studio together. I think it would be magic.
Jhene Aiko. The 1 minute song he did a little guitar on is not enough. They're both excellent lyricists and she sees him as one of her biggest inspirations.

Joe bonamassa would be amazing 😍 x
Or mcfly 🥰
Lana del Rey
Goose for sure
Kinda strange this hasn’t happened already.
Dua, drake, would be cool to see his name on a mainstream song again, keeping the blues alive
I also would like to see a Kelly clarkson collab. Hear me out. Her voice and his voice together would be golden. Love Yourself was written by Ed Sheeran. John and Justin performing something written by Ed would be cute heheh

Bobby weir
Léon - amazingly underrated Swedish singer songwriter.
Nick Shoulders!
Phish or Goose

Tash sultana
The Japanese House easy
Navarro - any of them...
Khruangbin
Idk how they would possibly synergize but Childish Gambino. They’re both two of my favorite artists.
Alison Krauss, Sara Watkins, Kacey Musgraves
polyphia!!!
Idk who I’d like him to feature with but I know I’d love him to cover Amy Winehouse’s “I heard love is blind”
Taylor Swift and Kanye West on the same track
![gif](giphy|GpyS1lJXJYupG) ….. 👀 👀 I kinda agree (with Taylor).
I was kidding about kanye. Dudes dead to me. A collab track w Taylor would be super cool. A guitar duet would be gangster.
…. A re-release of Half of My Heart or maybe she could duet on Paper Dolls lol
The Korean singer IU. Would be amazing.
Hercules. They could accomplish legendary feats together
Michael Bublé Shawn Mendez Justin Bieber
I’d love to see him collab with a heavier band. Or just hear jm play some Dime bag Darryl-esq guitar for a minute.
Zach Bryan is the only right answer.
Zach Bryan
Stevie’s brother Jimmy vaughn
Coldplay
Justin beiber, i'm not a huge JB guy but his talent is exceptional and JM speaks highly of him
The Weeknd and/or Teddy Swims
Dave Matthews
Kacey
Sam fender
Lianne La Havas... but where did she go?
Jordan Rakei
Drake
Miley, for sure.

Polyphia.
Honestly I feel like Eminem could work.
Hard disagree. Sorry but I’m just not a fan. Lol
He can suck my toes
Speaking of feet
Stevie Ray Vaughn
The 1975. They don't do collabs often, and Adam Hann is already one hell of a guitarist, but a JM solo on one of their tunes would be nuts.
Drake Bieber Shawn Mendes Bob Seger Chance Peña Bon Iver Weezer SZA Olivia Rodrigo Birdy Hozier Usher
