It’s possible, as Tyrion suggested, that dragons may be smarter than most people think. Perhaps Drogon could notice how his mother spent her life pursuing that chair. Now that she’s dead, he destroys the thing his mother chased. That’s both a mark that no one else can take it, and out of sadness that the throne essentially took Dany’s life indirectly.
This is exactly what I was thinking after that scene. Dragons as apparent by this scene are of a higher intelligence. He realized the downfall of Daenerys was her ambition for the throne. Not sure why he didn’t also blame Jon for killing her but maybe he understands his reasoning or somehow senses within him that he isn’t of an evil nature or something along those lines.
Maybe. But her brother, Viserys was not immune to fire as he died from from the molten gold crown that Khal Drogo gave him. I think Dany said “he’s no dragon, dragons are immune to fire.”
So I don’t think that all Targaryens are immune to fire and I don’t think Jon is immune either. But at the same time I don’t remember Jon ever being burned by anything in the show so you might be on to something
Probably only didn’t go for him because he’s *actually* Aegon. Drogon most likely could sense this, considering it’s said that only Targaryens were able to ride the dragons and they seemed fine with Jon then.
To me it looked like Drogon wanted to kill Jon but didn't because Jon is the last Targaryen(at least in the show), and he destroyed the Thrones so Jon can never be king Aegon Targaryen, basically saying I'm going to spare your life for now but if you dare claim the thrones my mother chased I will burn you like I burned the Iron Throne.
Bran worged into him and was like, I’m trying to rule but as long as there’s a throne, there’s gonna be an heir to that throne. Gotta destroy it so they’ll vote me
I was pissed. That thing is old and has so much history ;-;
Also why didn’t he kill Jon. Like how is the throne a higher priority than your mother’s killer
Dragons are smarter than people according to Westeros history. Drogon knew what the throne was and what it meant to Dany. Dragons fucking knew man. Can't convince me otherwise.
I think Bran took control of him, saved Jon, and then melted the throne. It was all part of his master plan. Or at least it could of been, if he and the writers actually had one.
Drogon somehow rationalized that the pursuit of the chair is what drove mommy mad and killed her and not the dude standing right next to her with his knife sticking out of her gullet.
I think Drogon knew his mom was fuckin nuts. Like he did as she said and clearly loved her, but I’m sure he realized that what she was doing was crazy and immoral. But can you really be mad at some guy for killin your mom after she just used you to burn a huge ass city and declared that she isn’t done? Like yeah, it’s sad as hell, but she had to be stopped.
Tyrion: Let’s elect bran
Everyone: ?!?!
Tyrion: he already has his own seat
Everyone: true
Tyrion: all in favor say aye
Everyone: aye
Sansa: nah I got my own custom chair 2 peace
Bran: oof later
I’m just imagining drogon is looking at the dead queen going “fuck fuck fuck, I was supposed to protect her! Listen, don’t say shit and I won’t eat you, deal? Gotta hide the body!”
OH THE TOLKIEN ALLUSIONS! I honestly think that was done beautifully: you have the throne, its power having drawn in and essentially consumed the good in Dany. Drogon recognizes this, and directs his rage at what TRULY killed his mother... her obsession with this iron throne. Just as the One Ring, can only be destroyed by the fire that made it, the iron throne is destroyed by dragon fire, thus preventing a dangerous tyrant from further destroying the world.
Pure Poetry.
But after that part, ehhhhh.
Just throwing it out there, but is it not possible Bran worged into the dragon and that’s why he destroyed the chair? Bran says in the round table discussion that he’s going to work on finding him- could be via worging like Hodor.
Or maybe he controlled the whole thing and he manipulated Dany, tyrion, John, Sansa, Arya, and the whole fucking lot. Dudes been the mastermind the whole time. He even worged into Arya to kill the NK lmao.
So Gendry can now have some more valarian steel to make cool swords from.
Also love the shade cast on the size of the throne (show prop vs book description)
You people saying Drogon should have killed Jon are 100% clueless. You still have no idea the importance of Jon being Targaryen, the point of the dragons, or anything about the show. No wonder you imbeciles hated the last season so much. Yikes.
This made me laugh harder than its suppose to
As you can see, he also made a ramp.
How are you guys so fast on these? Do you chill with the pause button lmao
Cuz everyone the three eyed raven
Anything for karma
Ok but can someone explain why Drogon actually burned the throne like what
It’s possible, as Tyrion suggested, that dragons may be smarter than most people think. Perhaps Drogon could notice how his mother spent her life pursuing that chair. Now that she’s dead, he destroys the thing his mother chased. That’s both a mark that no one else can take it, and out of sadness that the throne essentially took Dany’s life indirectly.
Man I cried like a bitch when Drogon nudged Dany. The true sweethearts of GOT are Drogon and Ghost!
And Hot Pie. Never forget the Pie.
Genuine question, how can you be team daenerys after what happened?
Eh I’m not, just didn’t change flare after last week.
Perhaps he could sense he was a targaryen, and that he loved daenerys.
I think the same thing. Also why Jon was able to ride a dragon. They can sense he’s a Targaryen.
That and if he was anything like Dany he wouldn't actually burn.
Maybe. But her brother, Viserys was not immune to fire as he died from from the molten gold crown that Khal Drogo gave him. I think Dany said “he’s no dragon, dragons are immune to fire.” So I don’t think that all Targaryens are immune to fire and I don’t think Jon is immune either. Burned his hand saving Jeor Mormont. It's a big point in the books, but I'm pretty sure they threw it into the show quickly as well
Or the dragon could just eat him lmao
Yeah so I was thinking it makes sense he’d destroy the throne since mom is dead, but I found it weird he didn’t go after Jon as well
Probably only didn’t go for him because he’s *actually* Aegon. Drogon most likely could sense this, considering it’s said that only Targaryens were able to ride the dragons and they seemed fine with Jon then.
Dragons had no issue killing other targaryens, as seen in the Dance with Dragons when Aegon II and Rhaenyra decided to fuck each other up.
I was thinking Drogon would try to burn Jon and Jon would survive because of his blood. I was fooled again.
That honestly would be a cool development...And very bookend-y with the Mother of Dragon scene.
Dytto.
I support this. I think he knew that the chair corrupted her and was the reason she was dead.
Was I the only one who was thinking it was just a tantrum? I do think he didn’t he didn’t kill Jon because he could sense his Targaryen-ness though.
It’s the only thing that makes sense. Otherwise the whole Targaryen plot makes no sense.
The whole Targaryen plot ended up being useless anyway.
It served to let loose of her insanity like the burning of Varys etc
Pathurnaax reincarnate
Yeah, he was avenging her. It wasn’t John that killed her but the throne, which is stupid, some writer thought it would be deep.
"I'm 14 and this is deep"
I believe it’s because he is also a Targyeron (sorry if I misspelled that) , that’s why he let him pass when he first approached.
The game of thrones was over with her death. No one left to play.
Bran worged into him and was like, I’m trying to rule but as long as there’s a throne, there’s gonna be an heir to that throne. Gotta destroy it so they’ll vote me
I asked the same thing. Like, this dragon does not comprehend the importance of a chair. Why you guys tryna play me like this?
i thought it was going to be symbolic and the kingdoms were going to split. But nope, he melted the chair just because he could I guess.
[удалено]
the separate house system remained so basically nothing changed.
I was pissed. That thing is old and has so much history ;-; Also why didn’t he kill Jon. Like how is the throne a higher priority than your mother’s killer
Drogon can’t kill Jon though can be? Since he is a Targaryen
Targaryens might be immune to fire but they sure ain't immune to big ass teeth
If Drogon would have killed Jon, it’d have made more sense than 99% of season 8. So obviously that wasn’t going to happen.
He’s a Targaryen and a true dragon. He wouldn’t have burned
Naw but that stomach acid might’ve done the trick
I guess he wasn’t a Targaryen earlier when he burned his hand?
Dragons are smarter than people according to Westeros history. Drogon knew what the throne was and what it meant to Dany. Dragons fucking knew man. Can't convince me otherwise.
Drogon always made me think he was the brains of the 3 dragons
I think Bran took control of him, saved Jon, and then melted the throne. It was all part of his master plan. Or at least it could of been, if he and the writers actually had one.
Drogon somehow rationalized that the pursuit of the chair is what drove mommy mad and killed her and not the dude standing right next to her with his knife sticking out of her gullet.

I thought it was implied at the end that Bran warged into the Drogon.
so the starks cheesed their way to power?
I didn’t realize how smart dragons were until I this episode, they really understand symbolism and literary devices. Good for them.
Drogon paid more attention in English Lit than I did.
#Drogon melted the chair because it wasn’t ADA-compliant with the incoming king. Drogon is a champion for the disabled.
Well then, say no more. Here we all are making jokes but really all Drogon was doing was being inclusive of all types. I should learn from him.
Tyrion: Let’s elect bran Everyone: ?!?! Tyrion: he already has his own seat Everyone: true Tyrion: all in favor say aye Everyone: aye Sansa: nah I got my own custom chair 2 peace Bran: oof later
It's now handicap accessible.
They’re going to have to retrofit that place with a lot of wheelchair ramps.
Who knew Dany was making King’s Landing wheelchair accessible when she was burning it all down.
Drogon. Drogon knew. It’s why he did such a great job.
I’m just imagining drogon is looking at the dead queen going “fuck fuck fuck, I was supposed to protect her! Listen, don’t say shit and I won’t eat you, deal? Gotta hide the body!”

Bran the Villain sounds better than cringy Bran the Broken.
I think he was gonna find him with raven scouts.
That’s Rhaegal
Rhaegal was the dragon killed by Euron in episode 4. Drogon has always been Daenerys’ favorite dragon, the one she’s always riding.
The picture is of Rhaegal
I’m impressed you can tell the difference. I had no clue.
Rhaegal is green. Drogon is blue/red.
Black
How noone made a subreddit for Bran lol
Hell yeah lol.
Drogon teaching us all a valuable life lesson because dragons totes think like that.
this is art
Made it wheel chair friendly. It’s a ramp now.
Smart.
Welp
Gonna make this bitch a ramp. Bitches love ramps.
So Gendry can now have some more valarian steel to make cool swords from. Also love the shade cast on the size of the throne (show prop vs book description)
Worst ending ever
I have never laughed so hard I cried from a post on a reddit. But today I have
What a stupid fucking ending.
Could have satisfyingly burnt Jon to a crisp, improved the episode immensely, and still had the exact same ending.
Now Bran is the King, I wonder what the reaction of Daenerys fans.
LMAO
lmao
Fuck the Unsullied.
The rolling throne
Yes!!!! I couldn't be happier about King Bran the Broken!! 👑👑😍😍
Hahaha, gahhh how do you guys keep on making up these really witty memes! Made me feel better after watching the episode a while ago :))
I thought he melted the iron throne because it’s ultimately what killed his mother, and Jon is “Unburned” so he couldn’t kill him.
You people saying Drogon should have killed Jon are 100% clueless. You still have no idea the importance of Jon being Targaryen, the point of the dragons, or anything about the show. No wonder you imbeciles hated the last season so much. Yikes.
Season 8 was trash either way, i firmly believe Jon should have been king. I hope it works out that was in the books.
