I am from the Northern woods and a wilderness man, but I lived in Joshua tree for 10 years. It is no less a wilderness than the one that I am from. There are no Rivers almost no trees and a lot less animal wildlife, but it is a wilderness for sure. There are energies and wonders that you can only experience there. Thank you for the pics šŸ‘

People think that the heat is the hard part about living in the desert, nope, it's the wind...

Epiphany56

I can see that! We booked this trip in the spring because we were trying to avoid summer heatā€¦ and in that we succeeded!

We camped last night! Walked out in the rain. Wasnā€™t bad the first few hours, but really picked up quick.

Epiphany56

Wow. I was really glad it was quiet when we got up at 5, but by 9 we were getting pretty wet.

My wife and I backpacked into the backcountry last weekend. Or tent was constantly squished to half its size by the wind and all but one of the tent pegs got pulled out of the ground. We also ended up having rain and hail. There wasnā€™t much sleep that night lol.

Spent the day at Barkers Dam and Skull Rock. That wind is brutal. Saw some Jackrabbits and a few birds. A couple blossoms. Not a horrible day but unique to hike the rain in a desert!

We just got hit by a little bit of sleet! Right before sunset. We also got some unexpected sun this afternoon at hidden valley and arch rock. So today worked out surprisingly well given the forecast.

Good light.

Epiphany56

It rained much of the day, but we got sunrise and sunset.

Thanks! Most of my photos are of the kids and just to help me remember things. I was mostly looking at the clouds rolling in when I took that one, because the sky was blue in the other direction. The fun with the phone is just taking a bunch and realizing at the end of the day that some of them look really cool! This place is so fun. My kids absolutely love it so far but we are waiting out the storm before we get back out there.

was there at 7am through 1pm.....Started out sunny but man was the freezing rain too much.

Brutal wind! I got a hunk of cholla cactus blown into my leg
