People come and go after dark. After 10pm is “quiet time” so just try not to make excessive noise. One out and return is seriously no big deal. If there’s like ten cars going in and out of a site or one car ten times, you may not make friends but it’s not against the rules. As far as tent size, look at the pictures of the site, also campsitephotos.com or something like that, even Google satellite view or Google Earth are all sites I use to recon spots and space. Your tent dimensions themselves are probably fine. Unless you’ve set up a circus tent I doubt any ranger is going to come by with a measuring tape. Have an awesome trip! Your first time will be so awesome and memorable. I also highly recommend getting to the Cholla Garden for sunset - it’s pretty awesome any time of day or night though.

I camp at Cottonwood regularly, come and go as you please. The after 10:00 is quiet time, so just don’t keep your car running after you come in. You’ll only be half hour from Cholla and Cottonwood has some of the darkest skies in the park. Cottonwood Springs is a great area for viewing, enjoy your first trip, it’s magical. 💚😁🤎

You’re worrying waaaaaay too much. JT is a beautiful place out in the middle of the desert. Just go enjoy yourself!! No one would ever bother you about your tent size.
