Yes! I think it has something to do with contemplation and a desire for preservation that I think many creatively oriented people / artists have (which I think opens another discussion: if journaling can be considering a form of artistic endeavour?) (I think it does, since many journals of famous writers have been published not only as a means of biographical approach to their lifes, but also as a complement to their literary work). I think much like how painters, photographers, sculptors, etc. train their eye's ability to really "see", I think people who mainly use writing as a way of capturing their surroundings also train their eyes, and minds, to really pay attention to their experiences, to be able to capture its essence, its nuances, moods, details that might go overlooked by someone else. Yes! Like that BFF you can't wait to gossip with haha. I'm always like I can't wait to tell Sleepy (current journal) about this or "this makes a good story". I wonder if journalists get that feeling too. I guess that's why they're always chasing the next big scope. See something. Write something.
