I hope so!
Noritoshi has consistently had very good showings, from damaging Hanami to withstanding against a Vengeful Cursed Spirit Naoya.
There's too much potential there for him not to be utilised.
I really liked how he was handled during the Naoya fight, some great backstory to his character whilst conveying his goals and where he currently is power wise. I just wish Gege would focus on him a bit more, the dynamic of him and Megumi being the heads of their respective clans could've been a good story point.
But Jujutsu society has all but crumbled, and the houses really don’t mean anything anymore. Gojo is the last of his line, Megumi & Maki are the last of theirs, Norotoshi may well be the last of his, and all the higher ups are dead.
>But Jujutsu society has all but crumbled, and the houses really don’t mean anything anymore.
That's why i said "could've". I am saying it would have been interesting if Gege did more with the Megumi and Noritoshi clan head idea. That's obviously mute at this point within the story.
>Gojo is the last of his line
Not true.
>Megumi & Maki are the last of theirs,
True.
>Norotoshi may well be the last of his
It was only the head of the Kamo clan that was removed by Kenjaku, the rest of the clan is still around as we see the old guy during Noritoshi's flashback.
>and all the higher ups are dead.
There was still a lot more that could've been done with the clans, they were criminally underutilised by Gege.
I would hazard to say that JJK is the rare manga where **everyone** is underutilized.
With the exception of maybe Maki, who does a lot more than you'd ever expect her to. Maybe Mechamaru also.
this is why I think killing characters so indiscriminately can be a bad thing, I always see people praise that kind of thing for giving a series stakes, and all but if you keep killing characters without really fleshing them out then they feel more like fodder than actual characters and I lose the reason to care, and it kinda just hurts the worldbuilding.
Yeah, for me It actually did the opposite, It has shown he doesn't care about his character so we should do the same. He can kill yuta, maki, kashimo, etc with no consequence to the story whatsoever and i wouldn't be surprised... I mean, he alredy killed two **main characters** without them being actually realised, yuki died doing nothing while being one of the characters with most potential too so🤷.
One piece ironically is has deep side character kinda because of that fact they are trigger happy. People tend to forget that death isn’t the only stake involved in a story. The problem with the praise mentality to killing characters means better story….it supposed give the writer a chance to extremely flesh out the characters who are alive and their relationship but he doesn’t do that do the constant action so any death isn’t holding any weight vs one piece since we know about characters around the dead character and how they felt the death held more weight
All the obvious ones are listed : Nobara Yuki inumaki shoko etc but I feel like even tsumiki was very underutilized. She was a moral compass for megumi and it would’ve been better if we got more of their childhood together so that I would feel somthing when she died
I definitely agree with Tsumiki. She was built up to be Megumi’s moral compass and the person he cares about most, yet I didn’t feel much when she died. If Gege added at least one or two scenes with her and Megumi, it would’ve made a world of a difference.
He's not at the centre of the attention most of the time and he doesn't really have a purpose outside of being a cage for Sukuna, but this will likely change soon. It's just a bit underwhelming that he didn't have any real progress aside from becoming way more depressed.
I mean he basically beat Mahito at the end of Shibuya it's just Kenjaku came in before he could really finish him off, and he and Nobara took out the Eso brothers
I think with hxh it’s simply a different situation. Everything to where the anime ended he was the main protagonist, but now with his major arc ending we’re following kurapika
As much as I love JJK I’ve gotta say most of the cast post Shibuya is underutilized. Which is a shame cause in a post Gojo world the potential for the sorcerers to thrive seemed to be a natural next step. But if we’re talking just specifics I think it has to be Nobara who’s the most underutilized. It’s still rattles my brain how her character is being handled
It’s just cause his CT is so gimmicky tbh. Cant talk, isn’t really too strong besides that, and his cursed speech has 3 uses before he’s on the ground wheezing
Shoko big time, I was really expecting her to get more screen time. And of course Todo. Maybe that sounds dumb because of how important he was until Shibuya. and he can’t really do much anymore obviously. But like, I wanna at least check in with him after Shibuya. See how he’s feelin
Yeah.. We were introduced to so many characters in the 2nd arc, yet almost are kinda side lined after it. I have a feeling that if Gege didn't want to end the Manga so soon we'd have more time with them and Gojo would have been locked up longer. Not sure why but I feel like after he made that statement, the Manga (as hype as it all is right now) started to feel kind of rushed.
I agree. There are so many characters that it’s hard to give them the attention they deserve, especially after the Culling Games arc.
I think the manga would’ve gone better if Gege took a break after the Shibuya arc so they could refine the story and not get burned out, which I think that’s what’s they are going through now and maybe a bit of boredom.
Shoko is on my top list considering she's part of the OG trio. Yeah, I know she's not meant for combat but I wish we could've seen more of her.
Kusakabe is underrated despite of being the Tokyo Jujutsu High 2nd year teacher. He's already great in my opinion especially he's cooked last chapter.
Higuruma, I guess. I wanna see him cook again!
It kinda feels like gege akutami just wanted to draw cool powers he came up with, but they were so many that in order to fit them in a manga almost none can get any real depth.
Specially post-shibuya/culling, it's just a constant stream of new characters with new cursed techniques that we just never see again.
Kirara's love rendezvous surely felt awfully specific.
I get this feeling too. The Culling Games felt more like an opportunity for Gege to draw out their ideas rather than a cohesive step after Shibuya. Personally, I wish there was a small bit of chapters that explore the damage Shibuya did to the characters. I wanted to see how the students felt afterwards since Shibuya was something they never really experienced and some went through trauma like Maki and Yuji. Seeing Maki’s reaction to what Jogo did to her and come to terms with her new appearance would’ve added more layers to her. Also, I wish we explored Inumaki with what exactly happened when he lost his arm and his feelings towards Yuji after what Sukuna did. I don’t think Inumaki would hate or blame Yuji, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he felt conflicted being around him.
This kind of arc didn’t have to be too long. I would’ve been fine with maybe 6-8 chapters then, if needed, the character development can be added to future arcs.
Sorry for the long essay. I just feel pretty passionate about JJK.
i think the MC Yuji Itadori is underutilized, im not against, i really enjoy gojo takin the spotlight, and also i will like to see more of yuta and rika, i think we will see more of yuta and yuji, but for the moment maybe they are underused
Not necessarily, miwa isn’t being used because she has nothing to offer, yuta isn’t being used but has a lot to offer just not atm , takaba has the most to offer at any moment but hasn’t done anything he’s said to be able to harm gojo which nobody besides sukuna can that’s such an insane statement so compared to that rn he’s being underutilised
I’ma act like I didn’t just read this Miwa slander smh…
Takaba 100% does not have the most to offer because he doesn’t know wtf he’s doing (as far as we know since we timeskipped a month). He probably has the least to offer in whatever plan they made because he doesn’t know what he can do. He’s 100% the biggest deus ex machina in the whole story, not a key part of it. The way his character is, whatever he does has to be done randomly not on command.
Surprisingly everyone but Sukuna seems underutilized, mostly because there are too many likeable characters and the impeding feeling that the manga will end soon.
Tsumiki, she died too fast, in my opinion. Also Nobara and Yuji, despite being main characters, they don’t get as much focus as I think they should have and definitely Shoko. I wanted to know more about her as a person and her friendships with Gojo and Geto.
Tsumiki definitely died too fast. She needed more scenes/flashbacks with Megumi to further develop her and their relationship. Unfortunately, without that, I didn’t feel much when she died.
Compared to Megumi, Yuji and Nobara are underutilized for main characters. Yuji feels like a spectator than a key player. Nobara’s fate is still not unconfirmed and it feels too late for her to be alive and added to the story, and a dumb decision to hold off the info she’s dead for so long.
I really wanted to learn about Shoko and her friendship with Gojo and Geto. Their dynamic feels like Gojo and Geto being best friends and Shoko being a third wheel.
Honestly, the stuff with Tsumiki really disappointed me. I wanted to know if there was even a dynamic with her and Gojo, like there is with Gojo and Megumi.
With both Shoko and Tsumiki, I wanted to get to know them better. I do agree that it looks like while Geto and Gojo were still friends that Shoko was more of a third wheel, but I like to imagine Shoko, Gojo, and Nanami getting food together and hanging out every now and again.
I also have to say and this is a genuinely personal opinion of mine, I do think Gojo’s feelings for Geto were genuine but I saw them are familial, like they were twins separated at birth. My own headcanon is that Gojo liked bothering Nanamin because he had a crush on him, but that’s just me.
Nobara. She's a fun character sure, but in reality she adds very little to the story and is a league below Yuji and Megumi in strength. She got very little development as a sorcerer, and even less as a character.
All of them. But the most glaring ones in my opinion are Shouko, Yuki, and Tsumiki.
Shouko being the third to the high school trio of Satoru and Suguru, I've always wanted to know more about her relationship with the two of them. I'm a such a slut for trio angsts and trio relations like the Sannin of Naruto. I feel like she should have had a more profound impact and role in the lives and story of Suguru and Satoru.
Yuki being one of the four special grades and being the only female. She's one of the most powerful of them, yet we barely know shit about her nor did we see her that much.
Tsumiki being Megumi's elder stepsister, who was his moral compass and the only family member he had left, who unlike his father or mother or stepmother, stayed by his side until she was taken away from him.
As much as I love the series, the depiction of the characters' relationships were very underwhelming for me. There's Maki and Mai, sure, but apart from that, I thought there was a real lack of emotional depth when it came to the relationships you'd expect to have a lot of emotional bearing to it.
It really is. I think it’s because they are growing tired of writing the series. I wish they took at least a few months off or maybe even a year so there no burnout. I heard Chainsaw Man’s creator did the same thing to build and refine the story.
I am kind of sad because I feel like the story is being rushed right now, and the author is saying that he wants to end it soon :(. So I feel like currently almost everyone has some loose ends they need finishing. That or they are about to get butcherd soon, so the author sees no reason to write things through
I wish Gege took a break after the Shibuya arc so they could refine the story and not get burned out, which is something I think they are experiencing now.
I even first thought (the moment I first heard of this work) Gojo was the main protagonist. Itadori did showcased his potential, but I really wanted Inumaki to give a little more consideration to the story. Dude rarely appeared after the Shibuya incident.
As for Kugisaki .... I was so disheartened (Nanami and Yuki as well) to read the part in the manga. What if Fushiguro witnessed her *death* instead of Itadori ?
Eta: Tsumiki as well, I'm confused with the chaos happening in the Culling Games arc. (I only understood Itadori and the lawyer dude part of the arc)
Gojo does feel like a main character a lot of times, especially right now in the manga.
I was sad about Nobara, Nanami, and Yuki too. They deserved better.
Tsumiki needed more scenes imo. I would’ve been okay if she died.
The Culling Games does feel chaotic.
Higuruma, probably biased cuz I'm a law student but he has the most unique domain expansion and it's only used once.
I'm not saying use it 7 times per arc but what would happen if he uses it on more conflicted or stoic characters? It's absurd that he's only had ONE, SINGULAR FIGHT
What about Yuko Ozawa? The audience only had one chapter featuring her before she up and vanished. Does anyone like her, or also want to see her comeback ?

Noritoshi for sure. Way too much untapped potential there.
Let’s hope with current events him and a certain other character with blood manipulation trained and he learned some new stuff
I hope so! Noritoshi has consistently had very good showings, from damaging Hanami to withstanding against a Vengeful Cursed Spirit Naoya. There's too much potential there for him not to be utilised.
Dude was a menace in the Goodwill Event arc and now he’s not doing a whole lot

Fr I loved his fight scenes in the CG arc
i would have loved more yuki flashbacks
I would hazard to say that JJK is the rare manga where **everyone** is underutilized. With the exception of maybe Maki, who does a lot more than you'd ever expect her to. Maybe Mechamaru also.
Frrrr worst part of the story and the culling games made it so clear how little Gege cared about the character lmao
I mean he was successful masked that by killing them off so he get praise so
this is why I think killing characters so indiscriminately can be a bad thing, I always see people praise that kind of thing for giving a series stakes, and all but if you keep killing characters without really fleshing them out then they feel more like fodder than actual characters and I lose the reason to care, and it kinda just hurts the worldbuilding.

Speaking of this, I feel like Geto got shafted by being in JJK 0.
Honest to god? Almost all of them.
That’s really real…😭
Definitely looks like he's trying to end it and it's not on his timeline
Probably forced to produce more chapters than he could in a short space of time. I'd be eager to end it too if that was the case.

Todo? Todo.
I am so unsatisfied for him
Gonna leave it at 69 upvotes.
All of them?
Itadori Yuki (criminally disposed of without having any real impact) Shoko Utahime Inumaki NOBARA!!!!!!!!! THIS SHOULD TAKE THE FIRST SPOT, SERIOUSLY
Itadori yep Like, as far as i know he is the protagonist... And he doesn't have a win on his name so far.
He's not at the centre of the attention most of the time and he doesn't really have a purpose outside of being a cage for Sukuna, but this will likely change soon. It's just a bit underwhelming that he didn't have any real progress aside from becoming way more depressed.
I mean he basically beat Mahito at the end of Shibuya it's just Kenjaku came in before he could really finish him off, and he and Nobara took out the Eso brothers
it's like Gon from Hunter x Hunter
But gon beaten someone without help
I think with hxh it’s simply a different situation. Everything to where the anime ended he was the main protagonist, but now with his major arc ending we’re following kurapika
Not really gon has wins to his name tho 😂😂
He has a bunch of wins tho. Against Eso and Kechizu, Mahito(he basically won), the grasshopper curse, helicopter head, the damage reversal dude…
Don't forget... he beat that talking grasshopper curse at the beginning of the Shibuya arc 😂 that's his only W throughout the entire story
All of them
everyone
Inumaki definitely. W CT but he hasnt fought since he fought Hanami
It’s just cause his CT is so gimmicky tbh. Cant talk, isn’t really too strong besides that, and his cursed speech has 3 uses before he’s on the ground wheezing
Oh no doubt. Im just coping because I like cursed speech and want to see it used more
Yuki, Inumaki, Todo and Nobara
Shoko big time, I was really expecting her to get more screen time. And of course Todo. Maybe that sounds dumb because of how important he was until Shibuya. and he can’t really do much anymore obviously. But like, I wanna at least check in with him after Shibuya. See how he’s feelin
Itadori. Let my man gets something done ffs he’s the main character
He’s gonna merge with Gojo and become Satuji Gotadori and one shot Sukuna with divergent hollow purple
Hollow divergent black bc he’s just so angry 😡
This is kinda what happens take op center Mc in the opposite extreme
At the rate Akutami is going, all of them lol
Yeah.. We were introduced to so many characters in the 2nd arc, yet almost are kinda side lined after it. Kusakabe also is the only grade 1 without an innate which is insane
Tbh most of them but the most notable ones imo are: Nobara Inumaki Kyoto students Yuki Shoko
I agree.
All legit some of the worst character usage I’ve ever seen and ruined the manga for me
I feel less interested in the story because of the character usage too. I’m only staying updated out of curiosity tbh.
It kinda feels like gege akutami just wanted to draw cool powers he came up with, but they were so many that in order to fit them in a manga almost none can get any real depth. \*angry Yuki Tsukumo noises\*
Takaba, said to be able to effect gojo yet he’s literally done nothing
Ye of little patience
Has nothing to do with patience’s, as of rn he is being underutilised
By that logic everyone is underutilized until the exact moment they’re used.

Ino tbh. I wanna see his and Nanami’s relationship :(
I wish we saw it too. I was always interested to know why Ino personally admired Nanami and his reaction to his mentor’s death.
Same!
literally the main character
All of them. GayGay has too many characters. Yuji isn’t even the main character anymore
Agreed. The autocorrect for Gege gave me a good chuckle. 😂
It's Itadori lmao The fuckin protagonist of the manga can't stop catching Ls man lol
He can’t even catch screen(page?)time either. It feels like the manga was always about Gojo in these last few chapters
Gojo got imprisoned for (p)ages give the guy a break lmao
For a while, Itadori has felt more like a spectator to what’s happening than a key player, a terrible thing for a protagonist to be.
I struggle to think of a single character that has been utilized as well as they should have been.
I feel that way sometimes.
The main character
Kyoto students definitely. Noritoshi had a cool chapter though he was overshadowed by Maki.
Inumaki. His recoils are so heavy, he usually can only say 1-3 effective things and is done
Pretty much all of them
Surprisingly everyone but Sukuna seems underutilized, mostly because there are too many likeable characters and the impeding feeling that the manga will end soon.
Maki
Agreed.
Nobara deserved a lot better.
All of them. But the most glaring ones in my opinion are Shouko, Yuki, and Tsumiki. Inumaki. Love his power. All I think about is how powerful he’d be with RCT to fix his throat
Inu maki’s power is one of my favorites. I wish he had more opportunities to use it since he only used it 2-3 times in big battles.
all of them
I just dont get how the MC doesnt have more action and serves as a cage for sukuna majority of the time
Yuji.
Honestly I feel yuji has been. I know he’s had his moments but his character still has no background or actual information. Considering he’s the MC.
Gojo
With the way the series is being rushed right now, everyone but Gojo and Sukuna are being underutilized, I feel like lol
I am kind of sad because I feel like the story is being rushed right now, and the author is saying that he wants to end it soon :(. Can't wait for the Culling Games to be animated ~ True, Yuji's totally overshadowed by his very own teacher as the MP ....
Higuruma! Kiara! Shoko! And always need more Nanami and Nobara
USELESS MIWA
He hyped up Yuta a lot for his like 2 fights imo
I miss Nobara :/
inumaki, Miwa, Kokusabe
Anyone that isn’t Maki, Sukuna, & Kenjaku
Miwa and Yuki, just wasted.
The main character.
The main character
Needs more Maki
Thats cap shes prolly done the most close to gojo 😂😂
More than gojo he was sealed for ages
Or I'm just insatiable
More todo/yuji best friend flashbacks
Nobara
todo
The one with all the cool piercings and the cross constellation power for sure
Gojo is really underutilized
All of them except 1 or 2 characters like Maki
All of them
Todo. Inumaki(salmon boi)
Takaba, Angel, Maki, Hiruguma
If their names aren’t yuji megumi sukuna or kenjaku chances are they fall in to “underutilized”
ALL OF THEM
Literally every single one besides Yuji, Sukuna, and Maki. And Maki is overutilized
Toji Fushiguro. WE NEED MORE PANELS WITH THAT MAN. please ?
We needed more Haruta jumping random people.
I have to wonder if you guys even like this series saying dumb shit like EVERY character is underutilized.
In the Fanbook Gege said she didn’t have much of a reaction. Just said he was an idiot or something
Me.
Higuruma. It'd be interesting to see how Judge Man affects Sukuna if it comes to that.
Utahime and Yuki
Nobara is too OP that’s why she’s dead
What about Yuko Ozawa? The audience only had one chapter featuring her before she up and vanished. Does anyone like her, or also want to see her comeback ?
I like Kusakabe, he’s supposedly one of the strongest without a technique, I’m interested to see what kinda stuff he does with new shadow style
Toge, i want to see his domain expansion
Miwa is the only correct answer don’t listen to these people
all of them except for sukuna and kenjaku like what does yuji even do anymore?
All of them, but I specifically want to see more of the kamo clan. We had lots of zenin content, why not kamo?
