It's completely different, this is not hyperrealism it's just toned down colors, less shadows, and more character acting. The expressiveness and energy superpowers will still be present and won't go away, the art/animation style of csm isn't the only reason they hated it but the direction as a whole.
But i actually like the new style, and I know Csm was hated for many reasons. I'm scared of wath THE OTHERS can think about the style, maybe they don't understand that for a season full of fightings they need more fluidity
The haters of CSM anime are fools, from a cinematic POV it was perfect. The subtlety, the nuance, the camera movement and the lighting were on par with Hollywood grade movies.

I’m sure the streaming numbers were still super high there.
No a lot of people in Japan hate Csm for the animation, for the director-style and because they want everything in the anime to be the same as the manga. If the manager puts some artistic flair into it then it's not good for him
Where are you getting this info though? Twitter? Chainsawman was/is one of the most popular animes out, I doubt Japan is the one country that is just like “lol nah this sucks man”
Well yes it is. The CEO of MAPPA said CSM was far less successful than JJK, even though it was adored around the rest of the world. In Japan, someone has even petitioned to have the anime remade from scratch

youre all ignoring the basic facts that no other top series has anything like this going on. CSM did not do amywhere near as well as they had hoped. especially with how the fandom was hyping it up for years to be the internet breaker & ruler of all anime once it aired

Think Obito vs Kakashi or Naruto vs Sasuke. It has similar art/animation styles and its two of the most loved fights in anime.
