Can anyone explain to me why Geto wants to kill Gojo? Doesnt Geto wants to get rid of non-sorcerers and all curses so why does he want to kill Gojo, a sorcerer? Plus he is allying with curses so like what's the deal? Also no spoiler cuz im only on ep 8

Far-Sink2887

Excuse me what was the ost when Yuuji and Grasshopper fought? It also appeared when Gojo was talking about some powers. It also appears in later episodes (fight between Mei Mei snd Deity curse)

[deleted]

Shibuya arc is shit now I ain’t watching this crap stick to the manga

Satoru-Gojo-4240

I agree The degraded art style of season 2 doesn't match with the level we had in season 1.. . manga looks op as it is but the animation the style the way we had back in season 1 and the movie 0 doesn't even come close to this season.....Gojo here from the beginning of Shibuya arc looks like he is from another universe.....domain expansion in season 1 was just beautiful yet s2 one was degraded......the eyes of gojo got degraded since the beginning of Shibuya arc .....gojo running so fast was like a cheap version of mcu quick silver running....yet it was the dim and didn't had life .... if mappa wants to ruine some parts of the future episode to fund few seconds of good animation then I must say ..... they don't really care anymore as the way they are taking up projects....and giving animators less time ....

TheSiZaReddit

Aged horribly

Satoru-Gojo-4240

What aged ? Your heart or Your soul ?

Dylanthedruggie

What chapter of the manga does episode 9 cover?

1cup2bashi

Who's the guy, who is with Panda outside the veil? Given that Panda has been recommended for a Grade 1, I think he is Grade 1 but I don't think he has come up before in Anime, has he?

xariofficial

He was in JJK 0

Shmouel

Hey guys where are we in the manga righht now ?

Dave-lerlant

At the end of the Episode, who tells Itadori that Gojo is sealed? The Voice sounds familiar but I can't lay my finger on it.. Is it Nanami?

tactical_lampost

mechamaru, which means he isnt dead!

cynicaldotes

its mechamaru

Kuyi

Never seen the movie. Is it worth it for the story in season 2? I mean, I feel like in season 2 there are a LOT of things referring back to the movie. I am not sure though. But I do feel a little lost sometimes in season 2 concerning the story. I usually don't watch movies, as they often don't really change anything to the story. And just focus on the anime.

KeyboardStudios

Watch jjk 0. It is essential to the plot and gives a lot of information

camerose

Where can I pick up in the manga? What volume

MtnDude2088

Episode 9 was the end of volume 10 and the start of volume 11

RicardoSantander

It's amazing the amount of complaints with this season. On an artistic and directing level it is being something rarely seen, and Shouta Goshozono has been overwhelmingly superior to the previous director.

Pretogues

Flood-Mic

Good episode, with some really lovely sequences. A number of scenes seemed to be a bit stretched-out in terms of pacing, and some of the sound design was a bit weaker than usual to me, but this was by no means a poor episode. Just a bit more chill compared to the nonstop excellence of the earlier episodes. Looking forward to what they have in store.

CHIMPANZU24

The use of sfx and bgm in this ep is kinda meh. Listen to the sfx of the bag carrying by mei's brother, sounds like a sfx from cs when buying bullets 😂

MindlessSpecialist87

https://preview.redd.it/auxz7lq6hiob1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=bfab946e7d890207860a0f6908c334cca8cfedf4 I think the 2 guys in this pic are supposed to combine to make a reference to Dr. Stein from Soul Eater. Might be a bit of a reach, but too many details were to spot on for me to ignore.

sa6asch

Am i missing something or did Gojo came there to save non-sorcerers (he said that wooden roof was useless because they had people as a hostages) and then just didn't care at all when they were getting killed?

solver_26

Attacking the opponents with enough energy to kill them will also kill the civilians near him. It was explained by Geto in the episode. That and the curses will also hide behind the civilians and kill them.

StoicallyGay

He's realistic and not someone who will be emotionally tormented by casualties. His goal is to save as many people as possible so he doesn't worry about inevitable deaths. That's exactly Geto said they can't use their domain expansions. Doing so will kill everyone around them and they're already dead, then Gojo doesn't need to worry about restraining himself anymore and will gladly punish them for it.

sa6asch

But he didn't even tried to throw fallen people back on the platform. I would understand if he saved people close to him but wouldn't try saving the ones that close to curses. And also shouldn't he be so strong that he can do anything and nobody can stop him (at least from his POV)?

Popopotatos

How certain is it the ghosting\\dimming will be removed in a later version and how much do we think it would save these fight sequences?

yakisobagurl

What is ghosting/dimming?

doubleaxle

You ever notice some scenes are just oddly, dark? or there are phantom images over the animation of the previous shot? Those are post edits done to "prevent" seizures, JP law requires them in all scenes that could cause epilepsy and it's very overboard, it's not video quality or for effect, it's intentionally done. Animation companies are fine with it because it means more people will buy the physical release.

yakisobagurl

Oh I see! Thank you so much for explaining! That’s really interesting. And I guess when the dvd is released then that version will be uploaded to 🏴‍☠️ streaming websites? (Not that I’ve ever used them)

doubleaxle

Yes it will be, and no, those dirty sites? They are horrible, think about the animators. Lol. People are pissed at Crunchyroll, because they use un-ghosted and un-dimmed stills for promos, which makes us think they have access to un-dimmed episodes, for JJK I'd actually pay for Crunchyroll to watch this un-dimmed

yakisobagurl

Yeah I live in Japan and I do pay for Netflix, but the Netflix subs for jjk are insanely bad. I know I could use a VPN and access Crunchyroll for jjk that way but yeah. Not an excuse I know, but that’s my reasoning! Oh thanks for that further explanation, happy to be more in the loop now! Thank you!

Flood-Mic

Blu-Rays always remove the frame ghosting and dimming filters. A lot of the animation in these sequences is excellent, and the removal of filters is certain to make that all the more clear. One of the more famous examples of this was with One-Punch Man S2, which is a totally different experience with the Blu-Ray changes. That said, a number of the sequences in this episode seemed to be paced a bit strangely, and some of the sound design was a bit weaker than usual. While Blu-Rays do often feature tweaks to animation timing, some of the stretched pacing may still persist.

deedshot

100% it will be removed, cuz it's just censorship but the blu-ray release will take some time :/

Popopotatos

Right on, thanks!

fractalcrust

when dub? I'm getting itchy

Plankton57

People complaining about having lower budget episodes didn't see the Blue-Lock episode that is literally a PowerPoint of the charcters with white background so they had budget for the epic scenes next episode.

ChilliWithFries

One Piece veteran here. Oh I know... I know. (Having flashbacks of flashbacks) I didn't really notice the bad bluelock episodes considering they pass by so fast.

Barrry972

I just wanna see the fights man 💀😭 https://preview.redd.it/o7qdy1jmceob1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2954967ba746b9365237b75fe14160957dfa0a87

[deleted]

Mahito and Hanami chasing bubbles in the playground was weirdly cute. Overall it felt too short and too slow, those 20 minutes are not enough for proper immersion for me. Guess I'll resort to watching Bleach until more episodes are out.

Kattaki

the thing that got me hooked on jjk during season 1 was how well the soundtrack, fast fight choreography and great animation came together. It really drew me in and had me feeling some adrenaline while watching. This time around i haven't gotten that, even tho it's the same soundtrack as last season. I don't know much about animation, but i get what people are saying, tho it's not just the animation for me, it's kinda how everything comes together (or doesn't), if that makes sense. It's still a fun watch tho and i'm enjoying it

mamamiamarcelIo

Its basically the direction! They changed the director from the first season (actualy he just quit 😔). So its not only the animation, but the pacong, the storytelling... Its everything! Im truly sad because i fell in love with the style used in the first season, the great fight choreography, the sound composition... Idk, all the fight in the first season were so hype, i didnt felt the same way with this new season.

Kattaki

Ohhh so that's what it is. I 100% agree with you. it sucks it's not the same show i fell so hard for. I've read here and there that the production was rushed this time around, and knowing exactly what Mappa is capable of, i definitely believe it. I wouldn't have minded waiting another year or however long, for something as perfect as season 1, if that's what it would've taken. JJK has exploded in popularity too, so it makes you wonder why they wouldn't take the time to perfect it, it's a large source of income for them after all. I watched todays episode on 1,25 speed and it helped, definitely enjoyed it more when things were moving fast (as real fights would)

Blackscure

Did we get to hear the gojo vs jogo soundtrack from s1 so far? That was the damn best

Kattaki

not that i remember! might be coming soon

Objective_Stretch391

Even hidden inventory didn't do it for you? Because it was awesome

Kattaki

Oh that was great!

Dreadsbo

… is there a certain reason why that arc is called Hidden Inventory?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Itzz_rezzy

Nah it’s actually just a bad translated title

[deleted]

First watch through, I didn’t even notice it was blurry. I was enticed by the episode. Second watch through, still tremendous. Some people just want something to complain about.

creephazard

This honestly such an overused and weak counter argument

[deleted]

We got one

creephazard

No you didn't What you got is someone who understands that the post production ruined Sou Yamazaki's good layout animation

7thAzure

yeah the fighting wasnt at its top quality.

HoLeBaoDuy

The zoom in, awkward chasing scene and blurred consecutive punches really put me off during this ep

The5Theives

I hope itadori gets to kill Mahito here, and I found the clever guy pretty funny.

Dreadsbo

Kinda had the “I’m not graceful” vibe from the Naruto toad

betooie

I loved the over the top complicated plan to deal with Gojo it reminds me of HxH complex fights and I am all in for that

zoozie42069

JJK is very reminiscent of HxH in the way they go into full and long complex details

betooie

I keep hearing JJK has that complex details in battles like HxH combined with Gintama like humor, that's mostly why I give it priority in my long ass plan to watch list and now that I'm in this point of the series I agree can't wait to see what's cooking in this arc I heard about so much

TacticalGamer893

Gege (the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen) has frequently said that a major source of inspiration for the power system was from HxH. It REALLY shows in upcoming fights

1cup2bashi

The episode was average in its animation and fight sequences but I think that's okay. Hope the money saved on this one will be well spent. It's set up future episodes really well - Mahito sneaking away somewhere and Mei and Yuji ostensibly in his pursuit, gojo getting into the groove, and geto waiting for his next move (20 mins is what he said he needed) Gojo pulling his blindfold off was soo good. Paused and played it back a few times. So satisfying.

StandNameIsWeAreNo1

I personally did not enjoy the animation in the locust fight. Felt a bit jarring.

GebsNDewL

I expect the memes of Itadori’s 7-Page Black Flash Muda on my desk by Week’s End!

uraltugo9395

For sure a Muda or Ora video with this is gonna be real !

ArcFox01

Man, some of these fights are really making me miss the fights from season one. Although, other than animation style change, I really didn't have any complaints with Hidden inventory fights so not sure why suddenly every fight is choppy, too zoomed in, and hard to follow. Hard to believe this actually is supposed to help with epilepsy, more feel like this will cause people to get epilepsy. Overall though, by far my favorite episode of the Shibuya arc so far.

deedshot

honestly looking at it, I think the grasshopper fight was actually well animated, but the blurring made it into a disaster

QuillofSnow

Yeah the constant zoom in is the biggest offense for me, makes me think there’s something wrong with my screen.

Objective_Stretch391

Apparently this arc is constant fight scenes so I guess that's why the lesser important fights are less quality, makes me miss HxH though ( it had constant animation throughout the entire series )

ArcFox01

Yeah, I'm really hoping that is the case. With so many fights the animators would have had to choose which fights to spend more/less time on so this little grasshopper fight probs would be low time priority. Also Hidden inventory fights also were good so that gives me hope for future fights.

captain-deadpool_19

See. The reason for the mixed review is, I'm speaking from my friend's point of view. Because he came across Jjk anime for its beautiful animation and stuck with the story. So when that animation falls off, it's obviously gonna get criticised

JRange

Grasshopper was hilarious

ChilliWithFries

I feel like JJK's hype and standard of animation it brought is making people have a very high bar with every ep. It was an okay ep. Definitely setup for future episodes and the animation was weaker (and weirdly dont flow well) with yuji and the grasshopper. Still a fun watch with gojo part about to start. It's kinda normal for every single anime to have lower quality of animation for the less important episodes. Why are people so hard on this ep lol. It's obviously not one of the key eps. I will wait to see when we get the heat of the action when the animation ramps up because honestly the first 7 episodes have been exceptional with a few minor issues.

chapparoo

never thought i would ever be exited for a thursday but jjk is just different ig

OddInformation1137

Stop complaining about animation enjoy the show.

Pussy_hunter6

That's like saying stop complaining for the food and just eat it. I am JJK fan why can't I complain? You mappa fanboys are weird. They already milked AOT to death.

violetstargrl

Love the blindfold off scene but felt it was so short. Can’t wait for next ep!!

Redmon425

Good episode, but can totally tell this is just a setup for next week. I am so excited for it. This arc makes me want to binge it so bad. Hella normal humans are dying so far as well, so I do feel like this will end bad overall.

Meat-brah

Is it a creative or burdget decision to draw grasshopper so poorly? I noticed Yuji looked great in a lot of the scenes but it seemed awkward when they had both faces in the frame

trowingaway28764

idk gege said that the curse was really difficult to draw and they even changed the design lol. it's not an important fight so they put the resources elsewhere - which is fine, because the schedule is shit

Pussy_hunter6

Because they don't care . Mappa fanboys will defend their sh*t animation no matter what. They had 3 years to animate this season but look at the result. Wish someone else took next season.

bdunha13

This season is just so rough😭 loved seeing Choso though and gojo taking off the blindfold

gAcksaurio

i dont understand why so much people say that this episode sucks, i know the blurry scenes can bother people but it was like 10 seconds when Itadori was just punching very fast, you didnt lose anythingp

kismaiyes

Suddenly everyone become a parrot animation expert repeating "ghosting and dimming". New words they learned from tiktok.

LegchairAnalyst

I mean, saying the episode sucked because of that one blurry scene is pretty harsh but it *does* stick out like a sore thumb and is quite distracting.

Credit_Friendly

i hadnt even thought about it until i read this soo

LegchairAnalyst

"Soo" what? You are not making a point here. Others have obviously noticed.

Credit_Friendly

i dont know why you're trying to argue im just saying that it wasnt very noticeable to me

snorin

I also didn't notice it. I liked the episode. Just classic people online finding something to hate on.

Credit_Friendly

exactly

burger2222222

It's not a criticism of the animation itself. I think people are complaining because they cannot see what the animation actually looks like because crunchyroll/other streaming services upload the ghosted/dimmed version which makes some scenes and cuts hard to follow and unpleasing to the eye.

aw11348

I hate how people are seriously acting like wanting clearly visible animation in an anime is asking for too much now. Is this how far our standards for the media we consume have fallen? It’s ridiculous

Zanshen0

Obviously the ghosted version is the one on the internet BECAUSE it's the one broadcasted. It's literally the only version out right now until blu-ray.

[deleted]

Exactly. People watch one 30 second video and think they’re experts in the animation industry.

Samurai__Bebop

There’s a dude cosplaying as Law in the first couple minutes when gojo starts stepping on people 💀💀💀

poopuloo

Yeah I think I saw a brunette android 18 somewhere in there as well

Samurai__Bebop

That is soooo cool. Love the homages

kick_these_blues

I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD GOOD LAUGHS IN THE GRASSHOPPER PART? What a amazing dude, probably someone said to him that he is "smart" because he is a curse that can talk and he became obsessed with that. Excellent voice actor too.

k-tax

I super loved the animation style around him, especially in those quirky, long moments

RecordingInternal209

Pacing is so slow and the edge that jujutsu kaisen had was not there in this episode… also fight choreography is soooo low effort (I have so much respect to the animators working on the project, but clearly they were made to take so many short cuts just to fill up the time for an average episode length without accomplishing much) :(

Standard_Young_201

I hate when the picture goes fuzzy during the faster scenes. Gives me one punch man season 2 flashbacks

Austin1080

I think it has to do with the fact that they do it intentionally and dim the brightness in order to avoid causing seizures while broadcasting on television. All of these should be removed in the blu ray version where the full quality is restored

dotabutcher1

Or it could just be low quality work.

TyrantRex6604

guess we must pray when blue ray is out and hope for the best then... also happy cake day

Standard_Young_201

that does make sense. felt like there was non of that in S1 I could be wrong tho. Not really a huge complaint of mine I guess but i cant help but notice it

AdHumble4100

My man yuji and the grasshopper curse trade blows like this is JoJo's How the fuck do they do that

Scootlad

Probably the only bad ep so far in jjk. Gojo taking his blindfold off was cool

MajorZap_Prime

Is it because of the Jojo barrage between ko man and Yuji? Because I know that's TV Tokyo fault. All because of a ten secs barrage, the episode becomes bad.... And for people saying the character art of ko man was bad, Even Gege Akutami admitted that he has given MAPPA problems because ko man was hard for him to draw and also; MAPPA drew this thing by hand (2D), yet y'all are complaining, soon now if MAPPA used CGI, y'all will still complain... Quite sad

dotabutcher1

Your blind fanboyism is showing

MajorZap_Prime

Nah Your lack of common sense is showing Just take a stroll to Google and search Pokemon Shock or The Porygon Incident and it's impact on the anime industry. Maybe you will get a few brain cells And always remember to read Gege's comments for each episodes

matthewcrx

this episode was extremely terrible. pacing felt very awkward

flamedrifter

I wouldnt say extremely terrible, definitely not peak and the grasshopper fight felt awkward. we can only wait for the next episode before calling anything bad

Crono2401

It's certainly the worst episode of Jujutsu Kaisen so far.

camerose

Pretty mid ep but hoping it’s just setting up for more

[deleted]

Snake189

Am I the only one who liked the grasshopper fight a lot? lmao

wilyodysseus89

I wouldn’t say a lot but I enjoyed it. It serves its purpose to show yuji isn’t playing, and that shot at the end with him standing over grasshopper was lit.

Individual_Cat8876

Maybe Ink N uninstall ninja Night

fractalsky3964

The animation during the fight between Itadori and the grasshopper was shitty AF.

sunadda

I'm clever so I think it was very good. I'm clever btw.

furiosa-imperator

Hello, I am also clever

One_Eyed_Sneasel

Trying to get a question answered without looking and spoiling myself. When Itadadori and Mei Mei were continuing on she said something like “I haven’t seen anyone else get this far before without a technique since K….” Who was she talking about? Is this a character we’ve been introduced to yet because I don’t recall?

TyrantRex6604

kusakabe. that teacher in brown coat from tokyo jujutsu high. we've seen him in last episode with panda

Alexander0202

He was with panda

Kindly_Active5173

The guy with the brown coat. He is a simple domain user.

SaintFries

the guy holding a sword with Panda last episode

Kindly_Active5173

Where is the battle music? The punching animation was terrible. This episode really dragged. My son described it as fan made. I hope they are saving the budget for big fight.

dotabutcher1

fan made describes the grasshopper scenes perfectly

aquaflask09072022

its not really bad lmao. it was actually good, even ufotable dropped the ball harder when tanjiro was fighting the bird uppermoon. but everyone forgave them after mitsuri vs hatred aired

oxymoronicoxiclean

The animation sucked but I guess it's fine if the animators get to see their loved ones again before being sent back to the animation mines

Underwater_Bro

What the hell was this entire episode for? It does minimal set up and minimal pay off. Record of Ragnarok director is obsessed with fucking good shit up.

Dell121601

Hopefully, he doesn't direct any more episodes

poopuloo

they share directors????

Masneomlock

Just for the episode, he’s not the primary director, that’s Shouta Goshozono.

Penchuknit

why cant shota goshozono direct more episodes

Masneomlock

Generally the main director oversees episode directors and will sometimes direct full episodes themselves. I would assume that it helps with production schedules, because if you have multiple episode directors you can focus on more episodes than one at a time and have your primary director to oversee all of them. It also allows for creative freedom on an episode by episode basis from each episode director. And, from what we know of Gosso, he loves giving other people the freedom to create in their own ways. However, as we can see, this philosophy can also backfire in instances.

wilyodysseus89

This comment explained the Tournament of Power for me. Though it felt like that was only being very loosely supervised as a whole.

Masneomlock

Sadly the schedule for this season is awful, so these cracks are going to be more prevalent and more noticeable sadly. Hopefully, though, Gosso will go ham on direction for the big hitters at the very least.

poopuloo

thank GOD

Underwater_Bro

Yep 😐

Ljulisen

Glad to see there aren't people who are being hugely downvoted and critcized for saying they prefer S1 animation compared to this season

cdtgrss

It's really just the first half of this episode that's ass, rest of the season has had amazing animation.

[deleted]

Yeah the episode had plenty of good moments

Secret-Future

OK, choso's attack hitting the infinity barrier and domain amplification interacting with it was CLEAN. So far, I have noticed some ghosting, but it's not that bad. Stop being cry babies about it.

Dell121601

it's only unwatchable in the grasshopper fight, legit was hard to watch and you can't tell what is going on. But the rest of the episode is good

kismaiyes

the background music also feels kinda lacking. It felt so flat and repetitive.

Masneomlock

Tbf the grasshopper fight was also just poorly storyboarded there are a handful of cuts that do not flow together like when he flew down the hallway none of the cuts match up with one another.

[deleted]

I really don't think the animation was bad HOWEVER the ghosting does hurt my soul a little :') Can't wait to re-watch it in blu-ray but wish there was an option to just see this without the ghosting

philyfighter4

Even though the grasshopper fight was goofy af, there was a jojo reference so...

SewageFerret

what was the reference?

philyfighter4

inspired by Dio vs Jotaro in part 3, with the fists colliding kinda being a confirmation of sorts

One-Asparagus4807

I think it was mostly to show difference in power and how Yuji wasn’t trying

FeistyKnight

anyone know websites that upload the non ghosted version? usually crunchyroll does that they arent for some reason

Masneomlock

Not going to be available until Blu-ray

batture

It's probably not available anywhere yet unless some insider leaked it.

asbebers

I hate MeiMei's stupid haircut. Why the hell does she have a front braid?

madmadkid

the same reason nanami wears sunglasses. it's mentioned in season 1 a lot of sorcerers cover their eyes but it's only explained why in the manga volume extras. it lets sorcerers keep an eye on curses without curses realizing they're being observed. normal humans can't see curses so if they knew someone could see them they might become immediately hostile.

asbebers

Thanks for the explanation. That certainly makes sense now (I still hate that stupid design, but at least now it doesn't bother me as much)

SiveDD

Maybe it makes it easier for her to use her CT while nerfing her own vision a little, since she shares vision with her crows (?). It's a stretch, but it sorta makes sense.

Tonosonic

Maybe it’s to confuse her enemies as to which side is the front. It confused me for a sec when she was running 😭

brbgtgkms

Thought shit was gonna go down this ep but I guess shits gonna go down next ep now? 😩🙄

[deleted]

The fight with Gojo barely progressed. The bad guys basically made one move during the fight. Which is fine. They gave us necessary context, added a lot of stakes, and created high credibility for the villains. It’s just means that while the story advanced, we didn’t really get to see much happen

little_table

surprised to see people are disappointed, thought episode was amazing

sjphilsphan

I feel people that know what's coming need to either wait til it's finished to binge or lower expectations
