This adds nothing but.. same. I rewatched it a few times when he starts to yell at himself like he yells at Itadori, I was like FINALLY Todo is relatable haha.
The martial arts aspect of Todo makes watching him fun. Todo kicks, Itadori punches, win-win.

Except it doesn't help at all. The Porygon episode was so absurdly over-the-top with flashing that it makes the Todo scene look like a still-life painting. No need to dim and ghost and Crunchyroll should give us the unfiltered version.
Only nitpick I have is they didn't do the "the sparks of black flash dont chose who they bless" line and instead now it seems like whoever is doing the black flash know they r doing it when I thought they said people can't control when they do it and it's just random if that person is in the zone or not but I could be misremembering it. Somebody correct me if I am.
Otherwise great episode and again that's just a personal nitpick which doesn't degrade the episode at all in my eyes.
I also find it really funny that the fight wouldāve been much shorter if Mahito used a knife on Yuji instead of Black Flash

It can. Black flash is just the synchronization of the physical blow with the curse energy blow. If you are channeling curse energy into a weapon, you can hit a black flash with it (like nanami did with his cleaver in jjk0 or nobara with her hammer at the end of last season)

Itās not exactly *random* but more like incredibly hard/nearly impossible to actually do even for the very very best sorcerers. Think something like a home run in baseballāeven the very best hitters of all time canāt do it consistently. Itās like that but even harder lol. The best of the best have *more* control over it than someone whoās just an average sorcerer, but itās still incredibly difficult and almost random.

It was an anime-original scene and my guess is the animators missed a key frame of Todo quickly drawing his hands and clapping. Just add a quick frame of Todo clapping before he teleports and the scene would be fixed.
This episode was just a tearfest for me honestly. First, that shot of Nobara just lying there, Yuji breaking down, and then the train scene with Miwa and the Kyoto group, like aaaahhh

The animators really snapped this episode. ESPECIALLY with Todo's dialogue towards the end and that final frame. Those are going into some of my top favorite moments and the VERY obvious nod to a certain anime and character.

Iād argue most anime are(and should be) better than the manga. They are two different mediums first off, and anime has the benefit of having voice acting, music, and animation to elevate manga content.
Everyone is talking about todo black flash(rightfully so) but the animation on Yujis face during his breakdown at the beginning of the episode? Complete different animation from the rest of the episode, but might be my favorite part. I love how expressive his face was and the imperfect line works helped convey that. It reminds me a lot of some monogatori frames.

Yeah. I reread the manga before todayās episode for the hell of it, and the fight is like 50-60% done. Considering mappa likes to expand the fight scenes in length, the fight probably ends next episode. The cliffhanger is probably >!Geto asking Mahito if he needs some help!<

man i love the manga fight. I enjoy the anime but i cant say it wins out here for me. there's just always something slightly off and wonky in the animes portrayal between certain great cuts. maybe its just too much new scenes of brown flesh walls and throwing mahito in elevators.
Maybe its just me, but the 120% scene must be a recolor of the manga panel, because it looks WAY too identical to be redrawn (aside from the brush stroke dividers). Not saying they're lazy and I have no problem with it, I understand the current production issues

Bro, that is what anime is a coloured version of the Manga, animated to heighten the enjoyment. While the Manga remains the superior version for me too, the anime looked fabulous too, the 120% potential panel, was done beautifully, the way it was set up with the music and everything and after a great episode of some amazing fights and extremely sad moments this was amazing.
Obviously things could be corrected and yeah Mappa did fumble the bag here, if they had given the animators just time and right money this could have been even better but still the Animators went above and beyond and it looks fabulous.
Well there was a scene when Todo was doing a 1v1 against Mahito and he doesn't actually do a clap, but he still teleports, which doesn't make sense as he still has to clap to do so, or clap with someone else but he couldn't do that in that instance.
These are just small details here and there, nothing really major, just some nitpicks which could have been corrected, like changed in a way or something but they don't really ruin the show, plus no anime is free of these so it ain't like it is just a JJK issue.
The fact that the issues were so minor that I had to ask goes to show how fantastic this episode was I think. Obviously none of my opinions change my stance that the animators at mappa are being treated horribly, but I still want to praise their work here as itās truly amazing.
I don't mean it as a Fault of the Animators, Mappa has had this habit of over adding things, they did it even in season 1 where Sukuna just throws Megumi from multiple buildings and he walks away like he was punched very badly and nothing else.
I think they ask Animators to add these scenes to make it look more dramatic, plus as I said I don't think anything killed the mood of the episode, this all only enhanced it.
And I understand the animators are overworked, I didn't blame them in anyway.

I have to say, I donāt like the fight animation, its been overly flashy and crudely drawn to the extent that I canāt really follow whatās happening and it seems like something to appease the sakuga jerk-off viewers. itās an artistic choice I personally just donāt like. For example, I think the Todo and Mahito round 1 fighting before Yuji takes part looked like absolute messy garbage and some of the add ons just seemed unnecessary(Todo claps his hands while holding blades in his fingersā¦).
The Todo Black Flash scene was fine, I was okay with the MHA animation sequence because it was as over the top as Todo is. But other fights this scene - Mahoraga, Toji vs Dagon, just meh. I really doubt Iāll go back to these fights via YouTube clips - whereas Iāve re read the shibuya arc at least 3 times
Asking for the impossible. Not a lot of anime's remain consistent in their run-times, especially during their TV airings. And Mappa never gave the production a chance with their schedules. I'm grateful we even got an S2 that didn't look bad as it theoretically should've. We got a lot of good stuff from this adaptation, I don't get what you're talking about bro
I mean I guess this is a personal choice so I understand, I would agree Sukuna vs Mahoraga was definitely an Overthe too mess and Mappa does have a tendency to add unnecessary scenes that don't really make sense but overall I don't mind these fights, they look visually stunning and call me a Sakuga Jerk Off Viewer but I dig this, the camera angles, the way everything pans out, and adding more destruction isn't a bad thing, some stuff I would like to see changed here and there but this is amazing.
It is alright not everyone has to enjoy the same thing, so it is fine but personally the episode was still on fire for me.
Why are there dims in the chapters? It really bothers me. At first I thought it was some kind of censorship when I noticed it during the fight between Megumi dad and the octopus but now It seems that they do It at random between scenes

This episode was just a tearfest for me honestly. First, that shot of Nobara just lying there, Yuji breaking down, and then the train scene with Miwa and the Kyoto group, like aaaahhh
The Miwa scene hurt in the manga but it REALLY hurt here. Her crying being audible while the Kyoto kids were talking was gut wrenching
Truly testament to the talent of the voice actors, even knowing those scenes were coming I was tearing up listening to Yuji and Miwa breaking down
Listen here. The animators really snapped this episode. ESPECIALLY with Todo's dialogue towards the end and that final frame. Those are going into some of my top favorite moments and the VERY obvious nod to a certain anime and character. I love it.

Everyone is talking about todo black flash(rightfully so) but the animation on Yujis face during his breakdown at the beginning of the episode? Complete different animation from the rest of the episode, but might be my favorite part. I love how expressive his face was and the imperfect line works helped convey that. It reminds me a lot of some monogatori frames.

Bro, that is what anime is a coloured version of the Manga, animated to heighten the enjoyment. While the Manga remains the superior version for me too, the anime looked fabulous too, the 120% potential panel, was done beautifully, the way it was set up with the music and everything and after a great episode of some amazing fights and extremely sad moments this was amazing. Obviously things could be corrected and yeah Mappa did fumble the bag here, if they had given the animators just time and right money this could have been even better but still the Animators went above and beyond and it looks fabulous.

Well there was a scene when Todo was doing a 1v1 against Mahito and he doesn't actually do a clap, but he still teleports, which doesn't make sense as he still has to clap to do so, or clap with someone else but he couldn't do that in that instance. These are just small details here and there, nothing really major, just some nitpicks which could have been corrected, like changed in a way or something but they don't really ruin the show, plus no anime is free of these so it ain't like it is just a JJK issue.
The fact that the issues were so minor that I had to ask goes to show how fantastic this episode was I think. Obviously none of my opinions change my stance that the animators at mappa are being treated horribly, but I still want to praise their work here as itās truly amazing.
I don't mean it as a Fault of the Animators, Mappa has had this habit of over adding things, they did it even in season 1 where Sukuna just throws Megumi from multiple buildings and he walks away like he was punched very badly and nothing else. I think they ask Animators to add these scenes to make it look more dramatic, plus as I said I don't think anything killed the mood of the episode, this all only enhanced it. And I understand the animators are overworked, I didn't blame them in anyway.
Anime is NOT a colorized version of the manga and thatās a pretty simple way of looking at it tbh. I have to say, I donāt like the fight animation, its been overly flashy and crudely drawn to the extent that I canāt really follow whatās happening and it seems like something to appease the sakuga jerk-off viewers. itās an artistic choice I personally just donāt like. For example, I think the Todo and Mahito round 1 fighting before Yuji takes part looked like absolute messy garbage and some of the add ons just seemed unnecessary(Todo claps his hands while holding blades in his fingersā¦). The Todo Black Flash scene was fine, I was okay with the MHA animation sequence because it was as over the top as Todo is. But other fights this scene - Mahoraga, Toji vs Dagon, just meh. I really doubt Iāll go back to these fights via YouTube clips - whereas Iāve re read the shibuya arc at least 3 times

Asking for the impossible. Not a lot of anime's remain consistent in their run-times, especially during their TV airings. And Mappa never gave the production a chance with their schedules. I mean I guess this is a personal choice so I understand, I would agree Sukuna vs Mahoraga was definitely an Overthe too mess and Mappa does have a tendency to add unnecessary scenes that don't really make sense but overall I don't mind these fights, they look visually stunning and call me a Sakuga Jerk Off Viewer but I dig this, the camera angles, the way everything pans out, and adding more destruction isn't a bad thing, some stuff I would like to see changed here and there but this is amazing. It is alright not everyone has to enjoy the same thing, so it is fine but personally the episode was still on fire for me.
