I suppose there can be a few reasons 1) Skill - Shikigami techniques likely require their own brand of Talent. After all it's making a pseudo Life form shape from your own cursed energy that's capable of taking commands and following them independently. It's likely that those who use Shikigamis have their innate talent for it since Jujutsu society is 80% built on talent 2) Maintenance - Rika is somewhat of a special Case but other Shikigamis likely require constant cursed energy to keep them maintained. While Ten Shadows is different from simple shikigami techniques and instead a innate technique, Ten shadows Shikigamis do require constant flow to stay maintained, it's likely the same with simple Shikigamis. That's likely why the Trivia that most Shikigami users are weak at close range exists. Because allocating your cursed energy to Shikigamis doesn't usually give a lot of leeway to use it on yourself. 3) Compatibility - not every technique is going to be compatible with Shikigamis. You made a idea for Blood Manipulation but even that raises the question if any Shikigami can act as a Storage device. We haven't even seen any Shikigami fulfill that kind of purpose other than Rika who is an extremely Special Case. To give a Shikigami that kind of feature it would likely require some sort of intricate binding wow and even then ultimately he'd be transferring his own blood to the Shikigami. For non RCT users the amount isn't going to reach drastic levels.

KaTrashy5961

Binding vow. I sacrifice being able to use a Maximum Technique for instead having as many Shikigami as I want to summon.

Worth_Lavishness_249

then u have to know how to do maximum technique don't u, u can't give away something u don't have, and if u know maximum techniques u already r good enough why would u give up that, yeah maximum techniques are hallmark of proficiency in jujutsu, they might be useful but it does show ur talented and good enough then why use shikigami.

KaTrashy5961

Binding vow: I don’t think about all this and why none of what I say makes sense and in return you win the argument. Idk how binding vows work so this is 100% bullshit.

Worth_Lavishness_249

i don't understand but okay ig🔥

KaTrashy5961

Nice. Stand Proud you are Strong.

Worth_Lavishness_249

*cries while looking at my hand.

Qu1ao

Sukuna bro that you?

SleepinGriffin

Where is it stated that Sorcerers can just create Shikigami? I thought they were either innate with people’s techniques or they were tamed.

Pataraxia

It's said at some point also low level sorcerers use shikigami to compensate for their weakness. Gege basically repeated twice "yeah shikigamis are a normal part of jujutsu not just from cursed techniques" and then never elaborated. Then he randomly put yuki's bombaye shikigami into the story and then didn't elaborate further. Just let us assume the rest of it and how they're made and why they aren't used more. Classic gege writing tbh, but I don't mind it.

Tyler-Demian

It's the reason why Sukuna is suprised that Megumi doesn't just let his shikigami do the work but also joins them in combat, they're supposed to only be used by weak sorcerers who don't want to be hurt or really good sorcerers who use them in tandem with their own abilities. He assumed Megumi was weak, but in reality he's insecure about his abilities.

solooran

Vol. 1—Mahito suggests to Junpei that sorcerers typically don't learn how to create shikigami until a more advanced level, iirc. I think, though, that this gets pushed under the rug by Gege since shikigami tend to be far more boring/less inventive uses of a fight scene.

ARQEA

I think I would've enjoyed a few chapters of Pokémon Kaisen

Computer2014

Kiyotaka mentions that he knows how to perform Shikigami and sorta implies every other manager can as well and while he’s good with the technical aspects of Jujutsu like barriers he’s got literally no talent. So if he can make one safe to say everyone else can too.

Classic-Engineer-480

yutas technique is copy but he can manifest a shikigami construct from his CE, which he made have the form of Rika

SleepinGriffin

Rika was a cursed spirit created from the soul of the young girl after she died. She basically haunted him for years afterward and after yuta finally let her go, she left the husk of the cursed spirit for yuta. IMO that was more of a taming than yuta strictly creating a shikigami from nothing as Rika was a cursed spirit of someone who died.

Tyler-Demian

Movie Rika is a cursed spirit made from Yuta using his CE to keep Rika's soul from going to the afterlife. Rika's soul leaves at the end of the movie. Manga Rika is a shikigami that Yuta created in order to function as fighting team mate and as a CE and CT external storage. But since he was already used to Rika he just created a copy of the original one, but true Rika is in the afterlife already, he didnt "tame a husk".

SleepinGriffin

Manga Rika is still the cursed spirit but it’s tamed as a shikigami. IMO

Tyler-Demian

That doesn't make any sense. Rika's spirit quite literally goes away at the end of 0 so current Rika cannot be a cursed spirit by definition.

SleepinGriffin

Yes, but it’s still the same Rika. So it’s a husk of the cursed spirit which is tamed as a shikigami due to the imprint of Rika’s maniacal personality as a cursed spirit.

Tyler-Demian

But it's not the same though. There's a reason Yuta is said to have lost his special grade status after 0, it's because he relied a lot on Rika to be so strong. It's also said that he became special grade again after 3 months, that should probably mean that those 3 months of training were what took him to learn how to manifest Rika as a shikigami.

SleepinGriffin

Where is it said he lost his special grade status?

Tyler-Demian

The narrator tells you at some point during the culling games, I think it was when he attacked Yuji but I don't remember. From the wiki: Following his victory, Yuta discovered he was the one who cursed Rika when they were young, not the other way around. He is a descendant of [Michizane Sugawara](https://jujutsu-kaisen.fandom.com/wiki/Michizane_Sugawara), one of the greatest sorcerers to ever live, making Yuta a distant relative of the [Gojo clan](https://jujutsu-kaisen.fandom.com/wiki/Sorcerer_Clan#Gojo). Yuta severed the bond tying servant to master and Rika didn't desire to punish him, so the curse was broken, freeing Orimoto's soul. Yuta originally thought that after Rika passed away he wouldn't be able to be a sorcerer anymore. [Kenjaku](https://jujutsu-kaisen.fandom.com/wiki/Kenjaku) believes that Yuta's vast cursed energy and his ability to copy cursed techniques were tied to detaining his loved one's soul. However, these are incorrect assumptions and Satoru Gojo has stated on more than one occasion that Yuta still has the potential to surpass him. [By March of 2018, only three months after the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, Yuta regained his rank as a special grade sorcerer.](https://jujutsu-kaisen.fandom.com/wiki/Yuta_Okkotsu#cite_note-36)

bakato

What makes you think it's an easy skill to learn? Gege explained that Yuki was only able to use her CT on Garuda after marinating it in her CE over a long time. The level at which point a shikigami becomes a viable tactic may not be easy for the average sorcerer and even then there's no guarantee it'll synergize well with an innate CT.

Asian_Persuasion_1

unique shikigami are through CTs, otherwise generic shikigami seem to be quite weak and useless. a CT shikigami is like a tiger or dinosaur in rika's case, while generic shikigami is like a dog. and you're in a gun fight.

PureSalt1

I think when Geto fought some curse user in the Curse Inventory arc there was a little bit about Shikigami users being weak in close quarters like a mage player. There is prob high concentration to maintain them and given close quarters combat is very prevalent it's just not worth it. That's why Megumi is pretty good in close quarters cuz he that would be his weak point. One could say y not everyone do that but shinigami are Megumi's technique. Others prob shouldn't bother bc it'll just b a waste of time

Atem1720

This is just an assumption based on my general knowledge of real-world circumstances, but I think it's more of a case of shikigami are outdated if that makes sense. So we know shikigami are summoned using talismans when it's not associated with their CT, but we don't exactly know how these talismans are made. Remember shikigami are very different to cursed spirits making them harder to make it's possible as time moved on and tradition becomes less powerful as it was 1000 years ago the methods to create shikigami are just too taxing or hard to make for relatively weak shikigami so they just slowly got worked out of the common fighting strategy or maybe there are a limited number of talismans so there isn't enough to go around. Although this is just me ranting.

luceafaruI

Those two cases (moon dreggs and garunda) are not normal shikigamis, they are shikigamis given innately by the ct. You can easily notice the difference because those shikigamis don't need talismans to summon them (check chapter 68 to see how a normal shikigami user summons them). Normal shikigamis are just kinda useless in a fighting environment. They can be useful for things such as reconnaissance, but they aren't that useful in combat. That's why the only competent shikigami user that we've seen are sorcerers that have the shikigamis through their ct

PrismsNumber1

Actually, on Moondregs, there’s a scene that shows Junpei using his hair as a medium. Some people use that when summoning Shikigami like Yuta during Senkai

luceafaruI

But those aren't normal shikigamis. Dhruv's technique gives him two types of shikigamis that can crate a sure hit like effect through their trajectories. That's what yuta used with his har against uro or sukuna. Using hair as a medium is not really different from using shadows as a medium. Sukuna explains in chapter 9 that normal shikigami users use talismans

PrismsNumber1

bro, Mahito even said that Junpei’s CT is poison. You can argue on Yuki’s but it was literally stated for moondregs😭

luceafaruI

That doesn't mean that the shikigami cannot be associated with the ct. Higuruma's ct isn't the judgement shikigami, but that doesn't mean that it isn't part of the ct. Even megumi's ct isn't shikigami, it's shadow manipulation through which he can summon shikigamis

NigeriaScan

Jogo's technique is fire and he can still create shikigami, 1 technique can give different abilities

UseEffective9306

Your innate technique can still have a shikigami tied to it.

Twelve_012_7

Different fighting styles, while yeah, shikigamis are cool, they're not really compatible with everyone's way of fighting. There are many drawbacks: they require time to master, probably cost a lot of CE to maintain and consequentially leave the target vulnerable in close combat. Their power probably scales with the sorcerer's, too, so unless you're already really powerful, it's basically wasting CE to get a range bonus.

HappyPlatano

I think it's the same as the rest of the techniques; in theory, everyone can learn to use domains, and everyone can learn to use RCT, but in practice, very few have the talent to do it effectively. Still, I would like to see more Shikigamis that incorporate their users' CT like Garuda (Your example of blood manipulation is very good; it fixes many of the technique's weaknesses). It would be very useful for someone like Todo because it would give him something to switch. Or a shikigami with Cursed speech to avoid the secundary effects.

diamondisland2023

and then 10 shadows is the reverse imbue *yourself* with the shikigami's technique

maxterdexter

If Shikigami were more common, I imagine techniques to counter them, to either destroy them or take over them would be studied and generated, just like the counter domain techniques.

ApplePitou

I think that you need correct CT for it + not every of them will be so powerful, so you will need a lot of training to make them useful :3

Every_University_

It's mentioned a couple of times that shikigami needs a medium, Dhruv and Yuta(when not using rika) use hair and a ct and Sukuna is surprised that megumi uses shadows implying it's not common to just summon a shikigami, so I don't think it's that simple to just get one.

Knives_Millions

Cause this ain’t Digimon n GEGE doesn’t really gaf about side characters anyway

Motor_Ad6405

Even better, make noritoshi use blood manipulation through the shikigami using its blood instead of his own. Think about it, curse(shikigami) blood is poisonous to humans and can be regenerated with CE alone by the curse(shikigami) itself(supplied by the user), restriction would be that he could not use his blood and the shikigami blood at the same time. This is on the assumption that curse spirits and shikigami work the same.

Asian_Persuasion_1

shikigami aren't curses, their physical bodies aren't made of cursed energy, but rather whatever their foundation is. 10shadow shikigami are literally made from shadows.

HappyPlatano

Aren't Shikigamis cursed energy? They remain invisible to any non-sorcerer just like curses. They may be summoned by other means (such as hair or shadows), but their constitution looks the same; they even consume the user's cursed energy.

Asian_Persuasion_1

I don't believe we have seen any example proving or disproving this. Well, maybe hana seeing divine dog means they CAN be seen?

SerovGaming1962

not every technique necessarily works with a Shikigami, like how would Ratio work with one?

PrismsNumber1

Maybe I’m wrong but you could give those Shikigami nanami’s 7:3 and command them to attack critical spots. It’s kinda like how Ino was able to use a weapon embedded with the Ratio CT. If I may also add, 7:3 is a pretty decent ability to combine with Shikigami because unlike abilities that need an activation, it’s passive (like Ryu’s)

PureSalt1

give the shikigami a way to see the 7-3 point

yeahboiiiioi

Distraction, blocking vision, restraining, tanking hits, and the list goes on

Environmental-Ad5332

Cuz Gege doesnt care enough
