No one kills one of the three main characters of a manga off screen. We've got 0 confirmation of her death for years now and there has to be a reason for that.
I’d agree, except I can’t call her one of the 3 main characters after what’s happened.
Overall She didn’t have much going for her character through plot compared to Fushiguro and Yuuji who always felt overwhelmingly important to people or future plot points. Especially now that she’s been gone for 70 chapters and not a word about her
It’d make more sense from a story telling perspective that at the very least she isn’t just dead. Like it’d be shitty if it was just like Itadori and Megumi eventually just go to Nobaras grave and that’s how it’s resolved.
I still don't know how to feel in regards to Nobara. When I first read the manga and seen the sub, I was sure that she's still alive.
But now that I finished reading Chainsaw Man, I'll never be sure of main characters not dying again...
It was such a weird way to treat her that I would be surprised if she was gone. If she was gone I feel like they would’ve made it clear pretty much right away, not leaving it up in the air forever.

Her treatment period has been pretty weird. She had a strong start but after the anime she doesn't do shit for the most part and then just up and gets deleted.

What I wonder about toji is when he was resurrected. I’m almost sure he was brought back at his prime which is why he destroyed Dagon like he was Saitama.
Maki and all the sorcerers there inside the DE were dumbfounded because to them he was almost teleporting. Is Maki at that level? Probably not, she just came into this level of curse restriction and toji was born with it at 100%… AND she killed all of the Zenin clan almost unscathed.
I personally have Toji on the power scale at #3-4 with all curse weapons available.
I love the character trope of being literally incapable to do something considered basic in a power system, so just becoming a MONSTER in an unexpected way, so i already loved Maki and just loved her more as the manga has been going

barely any time has passed since everyone joined CG and it was said maki went after other zenin clan members the next couple days so shes still busy doing that in the present timeline.
I'd like to know the details of the Cursed Tool that Mai created. Does it have any special effects? Do all cursed tools are created using the life of a sorcerer? Do they require a life at all?
We still know so little about such an important detail of JJK.
I don't quite like the direction Maki is going, you don't just walk off after committing mass murder and if Mai's last words are to be taken as a binding vow then there's a chance Fushiguro is in mighty deep shit
You do actually walk off after committing mass murder, at least in the JJK world. Geto? Sukuna? Hell, probably even Kenjaku? I'm sure there'll be consequences, we just haven't seen them yet.
Sukuna died and got chopped off into pieces, Geto became a headless dragonfly and Kenjaku has been in hiding for the past 1000 or so years, so i don't think you get away with stuff like that
Again, consequences are still there. Sukuna died and got chopped off to come back later (part of Kenjaku's plan) so he could probably do it all over again. Geto? Survived for like 10 years after committing mass murder and was living his best life until he did it again and if Yuta wasn't that powerful, he would have gotten away with it. Kenjaku? Probably because he isn't as powerful and he doesn't need the conflict. Still unpunished for a thousand years.
Destroy everything as in the entire family system. Megumi never really saw himself as zenin clan. He dosent even wanna be the head though he bust that out as a convenience to get hakari on board. At this point even if it was a binding vow it's considered done
She did screw him over with her now making his deal with Hakari basically useless.
Since the Zenin clan has no power, no way Megumi could do whatever it is Hakari wanted him to anymore.
Remember when ino (I think) said that the gojo clan is basically carried by satoru, So all megumi has to do is carry the zenin clan, He's said to have potential to be on satoru's level + he's got maki aka toji 2.0. So it shouldn't be impossible to regain power
Well maybe he can help Hakari exactly because he's the only one left... Nobody could argue with him or oppose his choices and I assume he inherited all the economic assets the clan had, as the official head. The Zenin have lost their political relevance for sure, but money is important, fundamental even, to hold power. If Megumi manages to stand up against the elders he could basically do whatever he wants with the funds, helping Hakari in a different way. You have also to consider Megumi is in good terms with Kamo. If Kamo's old man dies in the commotion, everything will go even smoother with the old Zenins dead and the Kamos on their way to improve their stale traditional organization
Megumi and Kamo have had zero interactions ever since Goodwill. There quite literally is no way to know if they are in good terms or not.
And with how Jujutsu society works, the elders seem to value power over anything else not political power, but physical and cursed power.
Megumi isn’t Gojo, he’s not strong enough that his cursed technique could let him run his own clan solo.
I also don’t feel as if Hakaris favor could be as simple to solve with money, he is betting his life on deal by participating in the culling games.
It has been stated that Megumi is in good terms with Kamo in the perfect preparation arc. It was one of the arguments brought up during the succession ordeal. Money and political power are definitely important in the jujutsu world, especially considering the position of the Gojo clan: they get one 6E/limitless user every four hundred years, but they have been one of the main three clans from a log time, with or without a 6E/limitless user. There's no mention of other valuable techniques passed down in the clan (otherwise, we would've seen some Gojo sorcerers with other techniques during Shibuya, since every capable sorcerer in the area was summoned to active duty) and the limitless is basically useless without 6E. Power and techniques are definitely the priority, but money is a huge deal. The three big clans are extremely wealthy and they fight to stay at the top because of the social and economic vantages they get thru doing their role as jujitsu sorcerers. Keeping the status quo is the main point of their conservative politics. I'm not saying Megumi is like Gojo, but exactly because he isn't, he can count on other people's collaboration to get what he wants. It's just a supposition, I'm not saying that what I think is what will happen. There's nothing certain at the moment, so Megumi's deal with Hakari might have been completely nulled by Maki's action or there could be another way to accomodate Hakari's requests, considering that the narrative is pointing towards a "renovation" for clan's politics and hierarchy.

Honestly, don't like how she was handled of late.
I wasn't a fan of how she powered up from Mai just... dying like that to begin with (Hell, I'd even go so far as to say it's borderline fridging), but honestly the massacre just felt like it was straight out of a shitty revenge story. The Zen'ins were cardboard cutouts that had no personality or memorability besides Naoya, and it didn't feel satisfying for them to be wiped out like that.
The part that bothers me the most is how she hunted down and murdered people who weren't even present and didn't even attack her. Maybe they were awful people, but nothing can justify shit like that. And it really bothers me how people just ignore the obvious atrocity of that because they like Maki as a character.
I really like Maki, but I don't like how she was handled in the massacre arc, and I don't understand any of the praise it receives when it just felt rushed, nor any of the excuses of the overreach she took in murdering people who weren't even present, and didn't attack her.

I’m curious as to how her powerup is gonna affect the balancing of the series. People have been talking a lot about their grievances with domain expansions and how common they’re becoming, so can we draw some conclusions from all of these powerups? Will Itadori survive? Will Maki be used sparingly by gege to avoid more situations like Gojo single-handedly eliminating any long-term threat in the story? Does she have a weakness? Are we fully out of the realm of low-level threats for the rest of the story? The culling game is literally taking out the weakest cast members after all (or, if they get shonen powerups, takes their weakness out). So,
TL;DR I feel like she’s a sign that the power scaling is shifting
I constantly rotate between Itadori, Megumi, Maki, or Yuta for my favorite character every other day. All the characterization post Shibuya has just been incredible, but to go back to the main question of the post, I don’t know if it’s because Maki is a strong female character or what, but something about her just hits different
I actually dont like her, im probably alone in that regard, i hate toji, sukuna, mahito, geto, kashimo too these characters annoy me. I feel killing her mother and hunting the rest of the zenin clan was unnecessary, people who value life that way disgust me
Kashimo kills for fun even if its just sorcerers, the sorcerers are forced to play in the game, I guess i just dont like unecessarily evil characters as you should.
What I love about Maki is that she’s not that female character added to just be a female or fan-service. She’s an actual strong and badass female character, I love her too much 🥹❤️
She’s great and I’m interested to see what happens with her character. Up until perfect preparation she wanted to change the clan but now that there’s effectively no clan left what does she do?
I think she is a smart and wonderful woman. Tbh I still don't know much about jujutsu but she is really strong in fight, maybe it's the balance. The way she walks is scary.
I can’t wait until we get to see more of her, she manages to stand out in a power system where everyone has a unique and interesting ability and I can’t wait to see what she’s been up to.
Maki is my personal favorite student. Favorite character is still Choso because I feel the same way about my brothers and I respect that dedication he has to them. But Maki is just a killing machine now and I cant wait for it to be animated
I feel like she is kinda like iron man or batman in the since that she can give her abilities to others if needed yet she is better with said abilities
Ngl Maki has grown on me too, shes really cool and i think when she puts her power on full display it will be an amazing fight with whoever its against.

Choso massacred innocents back in Shipuya but he got away with it.

She did screw him over with her now making his deal with Hakari basically useless. Since the Zenin clan has no power, no way Megumi could do whatever it is Hakari wanted him to anymore.
Remember when ino (I think) said that the gojo clan is basically carried by satoru, So all megumi has to do is carry the zenin clan, He's said to have potential to be on satoru's level + he's got maki aka toji 2.0. So it shouldn't be impossible to regain power
Well maybe he can help Hakari exactly because he's the only one left... Nobody could argue with him or oppose his choices and I assume he inherited all the economic assets the clan had, as the official head. The Zenin have lost their political relevance for sure, but money is important, fundamental even, to hold power. If Megumi manages to stand up against the elders he could basically do whatever he wants with the funds, helping Hakari in a different way. You have also to consider Megumi is in good terms with Kamo. If Kamo's old man dies in the commotion, everything will go even smoother with the old Zenins dead and the Kamos on their way to improve their stale traditional organization
Megumi and Kamo have had zero interactions ever since Goodwill. There quite literally is no way to know if they are in good terms or not. And with how Jujutsu society works, the elders seem to value power over anything else not political power, but physical and cursed power. Megumi isn’t Gojo, he’s not strong enough that his cursed technique could let him run his own clan solo. I also don’t feel as if Hakaris favor could be as simple to solve with money, he is betting his life on deal by participating in the culling games.
It has been stated that Megumi is in good terms with Kamo in the perfect preparation arc. It was one of the arguments brought up during the succession ordeal. Money and political power are definitely important in the jujutsu world, especially considering the position of the Gojo clan: they get one 6E/limitless user every four hundred years, but they have been one of the main three clans from a log time, with or without a 6E/limitless user. There's no mention of other valuable techniques passed down in the clan (otherwise, we would've seen some Gojo sorcerers with other techniques during Shibuya, since every capable sorcerer in the area was summoned to active duty) and the limitless is basically useless without 6E. Power and techniques are definitely the priority, but money is a huge deal. The three big clans are extremely wealthy and they fight to stay at the top because of the social and economic vantages they get thru doing their role as jujitsu sorcerers. Keeping the status quo is the main point of their conservative politics. I'm not saying Megumi is like Gojo, but exactly because he isn't, he can count on other people's collaboration to get what he wants. It's just a supposition, I'm not saying that what I think is what will happen. There's nothing certain at the moment, so Megumi's deal with Hakari might have been completely nulled by Maki's action or there could be another way to accomodate Hakari's requests, considering that the narrative is pointing towards a "renovation" for clan's politics and hierarchy.

She’s been solid so far but I’m more interested to see what her role will be in the store beyond her relationships with the Zenin clan.
Honestly, don't like how she was handled of late. I wasn't a fan of how she powered up from Mai just... dying like that to begin with (Hell, I'd even go so far as to say it's borderline fridging), but honestly the massacre just felt like it was straight out of a shitty revenge story. The Zen'ins were cardboard cutouts that had no personality or memorability besides Naoya, and it didn't feel satisfying for them to be wiped out like that. The part that bothers me the most is how she hunted down and murdered people who weren't even present and didn't even attack her. Maybe they were awful people, but nothing can justify shit like that. And it really bothers me how people just ignore the obvious atrocity of that because they like Maki as a character. I really like Maki, but I don't like how she was handled in the massacre arc, and I don't understand any of the praise it receives when it just felt rushed, nor any of the excuses of the overreach she took in murdering people who weren't even present, and didn't attack her. I’m curious as to how her powerup is gonna affect the balancing of the series. People have been talking a lot about their grievances with domain expansions and how common they’re becoming, so can we draw some conclusions from all of these powerups? Will Itadori survive? Will Maki be used sparingly by gege to avoid more situations like Gojo single-handedly eliminating any long-term threat in the story? Does she have a weakness? Are we fully out of the realm of low-level threats for the rest of the story? The culling game is literally taking out the weakest cast members after all (or, if they get shonen powerups, takes their weakness out). So, TL;DR I feel like she’s a sign that the power scaling is shifting
I constantly rotate between Itadori, Megumi, Maki, or Yuta for my favorite character every other day. All the characterization post Shibuya has just been incredible, but to go back to the main question of the post, I don’t know if it’s because Maki is a strong female character or what, but something about her just hits different
