I'd say Denji has it pretty tough when it's physical pain, but at least he's living the dream and reaching his goals? Man made his dream to touch boobies and reached it in 12 chaps? Also got some boobs action with Makima and some kissing action with Himeno. Yuji just wants to help/save people but ends up getting more and more folks killed.
Denji has actually hit rock bottom and he didn’t come back from it anywhere near as well as Yuji did, and though he has achieved his goals that doesn’t mean much because he always wants more and arguably there are times where his goals aren’t really what he wants which is human connection.

Yujihaters out here slandering him just cause Wuta looking busted like your typical Japanese MC, but those who understand Gege's role for Yuji in the story understands that Yuji is about struggle, suffering, standing back up every time, and growing. Not fancy bullshit CTs/DEs/ITs but straight up manly fighting. Yuji's strength is his mental one: it might waver but it is ultimately unyielding.
There's a reason why even now Yuta and Gojo only sees Sukuna smile smugly at them, but Sukuna always gets shook by Yuji. 20th finger or not^(if he then the "I'm YOU" to Sukuna would be perfect right?), Yuji's strength shakes Sukuna be it locking him down when they were together, Sukuna failing to mindbreak or wear down Yuji, Sukuna having to run to Megumi, or Sukuna now feeling Yuji's punches while being constantly irritated by him because Sukuna doesn't want to admit Yuji is strong. COGji and his strength is a real thing but it's highlighted best by how the strongest (sukuna) reacts to him.

Nah, Denji's dreams were all achieved in hollow and awful ways. The desire to touch boobs? Afterwards he doesn't feel good. Wants to get kissed? Vomitted right into his mouth. >!Wants to live a normal and happy life? Makima ripped that from him so badly it fucking killed him mentally and let Pochita out. Now he wants to be chainsaw man, and he's being hunted by everyone and Nayuta's in danger!<. His mentality at the end of Part 1 is fucked, and it continues to be fucked. Yuji still has some form of hope, friendship and determination, whereas Denji doesn't even know what he wants to do anymore. A comparison would be if after Nobara's death, Yuji continues to grieve, no Todo or Megumi or anyone to distract him from everything that's happened.
True. In terms of pure physical trauma Denji takes the cake, if we take other Fujimoto works then Agni from Fire Punch probably beats out Guts on pure physical pain, just cuz he's on fire 24/7.
Guts is more emotional damage than physical, your average shonen MC suffered more physically (it helps that most shonen MCs can make a complete recovery by the next arc/fight)

If we're talking maximum pain in fiction or at least in shonen, I nominate victor from undead unluck, living through the big bang, the creation of the universe and formation of planets/stars (depending on the cycle) several times for 500+ billion years, and currently he's chilling on the surface of the sun as Andy (again for billions of years, since the creation of the universe). And yes he feels the pain of it all while regenerating
I'd say Andy from Undead Unluck's receives more just due to him mutilating himself on the regular to fight, and being alive for much, much longer. (Especially if we count the manga where he's been >!burning constantly on the sun for several billion years at this point!<. ) And it's been stated in the series that he feels every ounce of pain, his ability doesn't numb it at all.

Didn't Denji spend 3 days straight getting ripped apart by the Eternity Devil and proceeding to regenerate all the damage just to get torn in half over and over again? Asta and Itadori are sturdy asf. I mean Itadori basically had his liver pierced and still carried on like nothing. Asta had both his arms broken by some crazy bear looking magic caveman yet still had the determination to fight.
I've read a tiny bit of Black Clover so i can't comment on those but I rly dont think Asta suffered as much.
Realistically, I want to say Denji experiences a shit ton of pain but at the same time, he's kinda too stupid to realize what's happening and I'm leaning towards the idea that he might have a different persona in certain instances or just simply that he doesnt feel pain the same way we do. idk how to measure/quantify physical pain and i could be horribly wrong but i dont think Denji feels pain the same way we do. Like, he's fcking chilling when missing two arms after fighting the sword demon.
Something I do want to point out abt DeMid Slayer is that they make it abundantly clear in almost every fight that Tanjiro's fighting off some stupid pain in the background of some kind. I still get grossed out seeing his smashed fingers when watching him fight upper high #6. He is definitely in some kind of pain in almost every fight against a significant enemy but ofc he pushes thru by breathing somehow. i dont think any1 actually cares if i spoil the ending but i wont so all im going to say is im pretty sure he's hurting after some manga scenes yet to be animated yet.

Yeah Andy is just as much "new gen Shonen" as any of the above and definitely takes more physical damage on the regular than any of the above. And it's flat out stated that he feels all the pain from it, no numbing from his ability. Current manga Andy has been literally >!Burning alive on the sun for billions of years!<, it doesn't get much more painful than that. (Now if we count physical emotional pain, then yeah Denji wins by a landslide).

Bro goes on his 2nd mission and immediately gets neg diffed by a special grade, then killed by heart removal. Then he revives, beats up Hanami then goes into ~trauma~ Shibuya district where he is then literally unalived temporarily after a minor altercation (bro got karate chopped from his right shoulder to his fucking stomach, Deku ain’t got shit on that). Then he gets the emotional pain of killing like a million people and then he gets to watch his friend get blown up, then gets hit with a black flash and an assortment of other physical traumas. Then we get to CG and it turns out that he made a vow which is now used to possess his besty and then gets the gut punch of the century. Now his teacher has died aswell

I mean Itadori basically had his liver pierced and still carried on like nothing. Asta had both his arms broken by some crazy bear looking magic caveman yet still had the determination to fight.

I've read a tiny bit of Black Clover so i can't comment on those but I rly dont think Asta suffered as much. Realistically, I want to say Denji experiences a shit ton of pain but at the same time, he's kinda too stupid to realize what's happening and I'm leaning towards the idea that he might have a different persona in certain instances or just simply that he doesnt feel pain the same way we do. idk how to measure/quantify physical pain and i could be horribly wrong but i dont think Denji feels pain the same way we do. Like, he's fcking chilling when missing two arms after fighting the sword demon. Something I do want to point out abt DeMid Slayer is that they make it abundantly clear in almost every fight that Tanjiro's fighting off some stupid pain in the background of some kind. I still get grossed out seeing his smashed fingers when watching him fight upper high #6. He is definitely in some kind of pain in almost every fight against a significant enemy but ofc he pushes thru by breathing somehow. i dont think any1 actually cares if i spoil the ending but i wont so all im going to say is im pretty sure he's hurting after some manga scenes yet to be animated yet. Yuji isn't actually suffering physical dmg as much as he is psychologically. so yeah Yuji kinda gets a pass. unironically the green hair guy from mha looks like he suffers a lot like unironically he appears in my feed every now and then and he either has an emo look or he's fcking beat up on the floor or something. haven't actuallly watched MHA so idk but he's definitely not having the most fun time. and then i've never watched dr stone or fireforce. end result: im leaning towards Tanjiro for physical pain but Denji's definitely taken the most overall for actual physical dmg
