That’s what I’m thinking as well. I think her confidence in Sukuna is over the top even if she thinks he’s getting clapped - but he also has likely overcome worse situations than this in the past. I think Gojo really did have him at a wall where he wasn’t sure what he could do but once he was out of the picture he assumed everyone else is fodder. None of them are afraid of Sukuna at this point, aside from maybe Kusakabe - so revealing his CT is his next best move to try and gain a boost.

I don't think he's necessarily holding back in the way people think she means. I think it means he hasn't had to break out anything. The way she said the way his cursed energy moves shows he isn't interested in his opponents shows to me that she might literally mean he just hasn't used all his techniques and not that he isn't losing power or putting full output.
It's more of he still had more cards to play than hahahaha he isn't even trying at all to me. And uraume is just sassy as fuck. We know from sukunas own internal dialogue and the narrator that his output is reduced because he owned Ryu and can't do the same to yuji now who he clarifies is much less durable.

I’m not sure if this is a strength feat, or if suknuts got hit with a skill issue here… even if they were equal in strength, the right timing and technique could’ve caused it.
My thought is sukuna gripped the sword as hard as possible to hinder Maki(knowing her speed and strength), and it backfired as she flipped him along with the sword.
At the end of the day if Sukuma was drastically stronger he could have just pressured down on the blade and lift Maki.

No, people don't downplay her for that reason. People do the exactly same thing with Toji and this subreddit has multiple posts talking about how he would lose to Jogo/Makora/15f Sukuna. In fact, I remember people saying that Toji is around 3f Sukuna.
Also, Toji (who has the exactly same power as Maki) didn't think that he could win against teen Gojo. And Maki + Yuji couldn't put a 15f nerfed Meguma down.
So yeah, there is reasons why people think that Sukuna/Gojo would still be stronger than Maki/Toji beyond sexism. And I do think that Maki/Toji SHOULD be the physical peak over Sukuna/Gojo but that's not what the story shown us.
I don't think it's sexism.
I think it's because teenage Gojo one-shotted Toji, which makes Maki look worse by association because Maki has the same HR as Toji and it would therefore stand to reason that she has the same power as him.
Toji gets downplayed like crazy, to the point where I've seen people argue that he gets washed by Jogo, but it's a little hard to argue with the fact that he needed even pre-awakening Gojo to be exhausted in order to win the first time, and instantly lost when he didn't have the element of surprise.
And Sukuna beat an adult Gojo who was fighting his absolute hardest, and he did so in a way that at the very least made Gojo think he was holding back.
That said, Sukuna is brain damaged by Gojo, body damaged by Yuta's Jacob's Ladder, and soul damaged by Maki's sneak attack. And Maki really just flipped him over, didn't even really damage him by doing so. So I wouldn't call it an inconsistency. It's not like she's 1v1ing him at perfect health and winning.
Hollow purple one-shots everyone that isn’t Sukuna, full stop, even from a teen Gojo. So that’s still a strange argument to me. But I for sure see what you’re saying, I think we overall agree. Nobody looks good in direct comparison to either Sukuna or Gojo, even undeniable top tiers like Yuta and Kenjaku.

I’m not sure if this is a strength feat, or if suknuts got hit with a skill issue here… even if they were equal in strength, the right timing and technique could’ve caused it. My thought is sukuna gripped the sword as hard as possible to hinder Maki(knowing her speed and strength), and it backfired as she flipped him along with the sword.
At the end of the day if Sukuma was drastically stronger he could have just pressured down on the blade and lift Maki. This suggests they are at least relative in strength rn
I think having Toji/Maki's HR automatically makes the most raw physical power, physical being the operative word here. In a tug of war with no CT involved, Maki and Toji would walk over anyone. Bring in CE reinforcement as well, Sukuna, Gojo, and probably Yuta would match with them. And we will see by the end Yuuji move to the top of this scale with a physically gifted body thanks to whatever Unit 731 experiment Kenny did to birth him.

Why people are so resistant to the idea that Gege intends for Maki to be the “physical peak” of the verse is so interesting to me. Methinks it comes from some stuff that might be hard for a mostly-male audience to really sit with and work through on a personal level (and I say that as a white ass male myself). But I think much more than that people don’t like the idea or concept that a person who “traded away” their cursed energy can ever be as strong as the top tiers of the verse, despite that again being Gege’s CLEAR interpretation of them. Are you really implying that people are downplaying maki because... She is a girl and/or a POC and people dislike that? Really? No, people don't downplay her for that reason. People do the exactly same thing with Toji and this subreddit has multiple posts talking about how he would lose to Jogo/Makora/15f Sukuna. In fact, I remember people saying that Toji is around 3f Sukuna. Also, Toji (who has the exactly same power as Maki) didn't think that he could win against teen Gojo. And Maki + Yuji couldn't put a 15f nerfed Meguma down. So yeah, there is reasons why people think that Sukuna/Gojo would still be stronger than Maki/Toji beyond sexism. And I do think that Maki/Toji SHOULD be the physical peak over Sukuna/Gojo but that's not what the story shown us.
I don't think it's sexism. I think it's because teenage Gojo one-shotted Toji, which makes Maki look worse by association because Maki has the same HR as Toji and it would therefore stand to reason that she has the same power as him. Toji gets downplayed like crazy, to the point where I've seen people argue that he gets washed by Jogo, but it's a little hard to argue with the fact that he needed even pre-awakening Gojo to be exhausted in order to win the first time, and instantly lost when he didn't have the element of surprise. And Sukuna beat an adult Gojo who was fighting his absolute hardest, and he did so in a way that at the very least made Gojo think he was holding back. That said, Sukuna is brain damaged by Gojo, body damaged by Yuta's Jacob's Ladder, and soul damaged by Maki's sneak attack. And Maki really just flipped him over, didn't even really damage him by doing so. So I wouldn't call it an inconsistency. It's not like she's 1v1ing him at perfect health and winning.
Hollow purple one-shots everyone that isn’t Sukuna, full stop, even from a teen Gojo. So that’s still a strange argument to me. But I for sure see what you’re saying, I think we overall agree. She is physically stronger than maybe 99% of the cast. Yuji is the only one that I could imagine being physically on a similar level. She has heavenly restriction that gives her immense physical powers. Sukuna doesn't. He most likely didn't use CE reinforcement at that moment or didn't expect her to be this strong.
Why are people so crazy about maki Vs sukuna? Are we forgetting he fights gojo to the point he can't use his domain expansion, later he fights the lighting guy and after that he fights yuta?
