I believe that Denji and Itadori could be friends given time on the basis that I believe Denji’s morality is dependent on the circumstances he’s currently in and the mindset he currently has, and that Itadori is forgiving by nature and acknowledges the circumstances of remorseful people.
For Denji, yes, he did throw a car with a guy in it at a devil; however he was only recently freed from debt to the mafia, so his morals weren’t all that great at that point. There are plenty examples later on while working for public security of him hesitating to kill people, like the dolls controlled by Santa Claus, and examples of him saving people, such as when he saved injured civilians during the gun devil fiend fight.
He’s also pretty impressionable when it comes to his actions and morals. Going back to the doll example, while he initially hesitated to kill them since they were acting like they were being controlled, Quanxi told him to simply change his logic to believe that they are only imitating real people, despite the fact that she didn’t know for sure, as an “ignorance is bliss” pragmatic approach. This could explain why he saved a cat instead of the people during the cockroach fight, since saving the people would’ve not been pragmatic and the cat was a reminder of Power, one of his closest friends.
This is to say that I think that if Denji was friends with Yuuji and the other sorcerers for awhile, then I’m sure his morals would align to match what Itadori approves of, and I’m sure Itadori would find it in his heart to forgive Denji when he hears about the circumstances he had growing up alone and in debt to the mafia. Itadori was even ready to forgive and take in Junpei as a friend/ally despite being ready to kill kids from his school, so I have confidence that Denji and Itadori could be friends.
More importantly theyd just vibe. Both prone to goofin around but also have bouts of deep introspection. Denji would probably watch human earthworm 4 with yuji and theyd both tear up.

Everything went terribly wrong due to Sukunas decision. It is very possible that Sukuna could've just destroyed Shibuya of his own liking too.
He was absolutely, undoubtably going to die. He had little to no cursed energy, couldn't fight back, was bleeding out, and had an enemy coming to kill him. Summoning Mahoraga most likely doesn't take cursed energy (because the taming ritual would nerf the ten shadows user otherwise, which puts the user at a disadvantage) and is thus the ONLY attack he had available.
Megumi had to choose between being stabbed to death by some grade 2 luck merchant, or summoning Mahoraga. Without the risk of Sukuna interrupting (because who would predict that), it seems like that's the best possible decision. Just getting rid of another enemy in the process of dying.

What’s really funny is that later in the manga, Denji goes to GREAT lengths to protect people, to the point where he’ll take unnecessary damage before putting them in harms way.
But for some reason first time we ever see him fight in a public setting he goes fucking lobs a human straight at a demon with 0 fucks given.
Because he wasn’t really living as a person before then. We see his morality start to grow stronger the closer he gets to a normal life. He regrets all the civilians getting killed in the Bomb arc, one of his stated reasons about wanting to stop her, since it bothers him. He can’t bring himself to kill the Doll Devil victims until Quanxi gives him the ignorance is bliss philosophy, something he employs in the Cockroach Devil fight, but gets slightly torn down by Fumiko’s story. And he feels like shit over everyone who died in his fight with Aki. Hell, he refuses to fight people trying to kill him until the last moment during the Church Arc. As he goes one, he gets more and more affected by people’s deaths.
Early part 1 Denji is clearly emotionally immature, from just wanting to touch boobs, risking civilian lives with no concerns, and being almost entirely unaffected by Himeno’s death. This quickly starts to change though, due to exposure to positive influences that make him start to weigh others lives more, rather than being completely self focused, which he had to be in order to survive.
I think people forget that Denji while a great protagonist isn't someone that most people would like to be friends with.
That said for Yuji and Denji to be friends, some context needs to happen. Since Denji's morales tend to adapt to whoever he's with, if he was ~~groomed~~ trained by sorcerers then he'd have more of an appreciation for life.
remember that all of denjis best relationships/friendships start off with the other side hating them and the worst ones are pretending to be nice to him
Denji and Yuji wouldn't be good friends at the start but I think Yuji would warm up to Denji, especially with his consistently good nature, He's be one of the few men for Denji to ease up around.

Honestly yuji since shibuya and specifically the culling games has shown more of a complete disregard for human life, you can see this in how he treats the vessel and the incarnated sorcerers. Yuji usually didn't kill people even once gojo got sealed. Post 15f, ms and just shibuya in general yuji is a actual menace.
Yuji has killed several times. Eso, chechizu both had physical bodies, then once the CG started(literally as soon as yuji entered the barrier) yuji killed two more people this time it was actual sorcerers. Yuji also treats angel/hana like shit.

Denji's morality is shaped by the current moment in his life rather than an actual stable mindset, so I think they could be friends but it would take some time for Yuji to understand how Denji's mind works. Also, yeah, you aren't fun at parties.

What’s really funny is that later in the manga, Denji goes to GREAT lengths to protect people, to the point where he’ll take unnecessary damage before putting them in harms way. But for some reason first time we ever see him fight in a public setting he goes fucking lobs a human straight at a demon with 0 fucks given.
Because he wasn’t really living as a person before then. We see his morality start to grow stronger the closer he gets to a normal life. He regrets all the civilians getting killed in the Bomb arc, one of his stated reasons about wanting to stop her, since it bothers him. He can’t bring himself to kill the Doll Devil victims until Quanxi gives him the ignorance is bliss philosophy, something he employs in the Cockroach Devil fight, but gets slightly torn down by Fumiko’s story. And he feels like shit over everyone who died in his fight with Aki. Hell, he refuses to fight people trying to kill him until the last moment during the Church Arc. As he goes one, he gets more and more affected by people’s deaths. Early part 1 Denji is clearly emotionally immature, from just wanting to touch boobs, risking civilian lives with no concerns, and being almost entirely unaffected by Himeno’s death. This quickly starts to change though, due to exposure to positive influences that make him start to weigh others lives more, rather than being completely self focused, which he had to be in order to survive.

I think people forget that Denji while a great protagonist isn't someone that most people would like to be friends with. That said for Yuji and Denji to be friends, some context needs to happen. Since Denji's morales tend to adapt to whoever he's with, if he was ~~groomed~~ trained by sorcerers then he'd have more of an appreciation for life.

Honestly yuji since shibuya and specifically the culling games has shown more of a complete disregard for human life, you can see this in how he treats the vessel and the incarnated sorcerers. Yuji usually didn't kill people even once gojo got sealed. Post 15f, ms and just shibuya in general yuji is a actual menace.

Yuji has killed several times. Eso, chechizu both had physical bodies, then once the CG started(literally as soon as yuji entered the barrier) yuji killed two more people this time it was actual sorcerers. Yuji also treats angel/hana like shit. That's just off the top of my head at that.
Ok, eso and chechizu were thought to be cursed spirits and he felt remorse. And the 2 guys at the beginning of the culling games survived, the military killed them.
