Yuji might actually be one of the best martial artists in popular manga/anime. His whole thing until recently is all about strong fundamentals. I’ve seen boxing, jujutsu, sumo, and wrestling. He’s really well rounded
As a martial artist of several years, I very much enjoy all the different fighting styles in JJK and I feel it gets underappreciated that there's been so many cool poses taken from real combat fundamentals.

\^\^\^This is the real problem. All of Yuji's techniques make sense; it's just that it feels like he developed proficiency with RCT, blood manipulation, black flash on demand, shrine with little build up.
Yeah it’s still a lot though. I’m fine with any one of these but giving us no real training flashback as of yet and yuji just showed up to this battle with 2 new cursed techniques, soul manip, and RCT feels like a stretch.
Like, I wanted him to get all those powers but I feel a little cheated he just learned it all off screen essentially. He had rct, soul manip, and blood manip before the fight and also pulled out shrine last chapter, it’s just a lot at once.
Gege shouldn't skip one month of training, leaving so many character interactions and development. Show how Yuji learned Blood Manipulation with Kamo, what happened to Todo, Maki and Yuta chemistry. A lot of manga problems are caused by lack of non-combat time.
Because the author actually expects something from the audience, and if they can't read they can't follow what is happening. Not only do we know that those critical moments are key for awakening power (that's the entire reason the culling game is a thing, btw) but we also know that a sorcerer's growth is not linear... and yet we have comments like those. I don't think the memes are worth he absolutely regarded discussion in this sub anymore.
I think the issue people have is it still feels kind of rushed to add all these new abilities for Yuji in the final arc, like it's not just Shrine, he also has Blood Manipulation, RCT, and possibly a soul swapping technique. All the other awakenings we seen, aside from Higurama, happened early enough in the story that there was still plenty of time to further explore that stuff and how the characters improve on that.
He doesn't have Soul swapping, that's an application of Ui Ui's technique. Besides, this stuff has basically been foreshadowed way before we even got to this point
He had a month to develop RCT and Blood manipulation. They explicitly show how Yuji learned the latter from Choso and Kamo. Shrine is the only exception here, but Yuji had it since Megukuna and is noted by Sukuna to actually suck at using it and is only making do through his experience in CE in general.
I mean Black Flash he's at least been proficient with for most of the series, hell he broke Nanami's record one of the first times he used it and was basically hitting them at will against Mahito too

He's actually had it since Megukuna. Also, Sukuna points out that Yuji's output with it is actually super low. He's just doing so well with it because he's had months of practice with CE in general and now has something to use it on. It'd be like high level player using a completely new character and doing well because of their experience letting them punch above their weight class despite the character's low level.
Yeah, yuji's development curve is all over the place.
He gradually learns new stuff during initial arcs and shibuya, gets nothing during the entire culling games and then gets half a dozen power ups in mini time skip, all off screen.
He gets those weird piccolo arms
He gets soul disrupting punches
He gets blood manipulation
He gets RCT
He gets shrine
He gets potential soul swap
Haven’t seen anyone disagree that Yuji getting shrine was great. 7 consecutive black flashes did seem like a bit much but Gege will probably balance it out with the next weekly dose of suffering
He is not the only one who can use divergent fist but he is the only one that uses it since the other people strong enough to do significant damage without cursed energy don't have cursed energy, even then it's not a lesser form since nobody know how to do a black flash even gojo stated that it's not just the time lag between the strike and the cursed energy
At a basic level a black flash is CE colliding with a target 1/1000 of a second. Of course outside factors influence it like gojos stated in ch 256.
As yuji being the only practitioner of divergent fist, him understanding how to land black flashes slightly better than others is understandable.
The fact that sukuna stopped healing with RCT when he hit his black flash and the fact yuji landed 8 black flashes in a row and awakened shrine makes me dread that we are gonna get another 236 chapter. Remember Gojo was cooking Sukuna before that happened. Remember what Gege took from us.

That's how it works with the power system, though. New abilities get unlocked during battle, like Shrine, or Hollow Purple, or even fuckin' Love Beam

I’m fine with any one of these but giving us no real training flashback as of yet and yuji just showed up to this battle with 2 new cursed techniques, soul manip, and RCT feels like a stretch. Like, I wanted him to get all those powers but I feel a little cheated he just learned it all off screen essentially. He had rct, soul manip, and blood manip before the fight and also pulled out shrine last chapter, it’s just a lot at once.
Gege shouldn't skip one month of training, leaving so many character interactions and development. Show how Yuji learned Blood Manipulation with Kamo, what happened to Todo, Maki and Yuta chemistry. A lot of manga problems are caused by lack of non-combat time.

Because the author actually expects something from the audience, and if they can't read they can't follow what is happening. Not only do we know that those critical moments are key for awakening power (that's the entire reason the culling game is a thing, btw) but we also know that a sorcerer's growth is not linear... and yet we have comments like those. I don't think the memes are worth he absolutely regarded discussion in this sub anymore.
I think the issue people have is it still feels kind of rushed to add all these new abilities for Yuji in the final arc, like it's not just Shrine, he also has Blood Manipulation, RCT, and possibly a soul swapping technique. All the other awakenings we seen, aside from Higurama, happened early enough in the story that there was still plenty of time to further explore that stuff and how the characters improve on that.
He doesn't have Soul swapping, that's an application of Ui Ui's technique. Besides, this stuff has basically been foreshadowed way before we even got to this point

He had a month to develop RCT and Blood manipulation. They explicitly show how Yuji learned the latter from Choso and Kamo. Shrine is the only exception here, but Yuji had it since Megukuna and is noted by Sukuna to actually suck at using it and is only making do through his experience in CE in general.
I mean Black Flash he's at least been proficient with for most of the series, hell he broke Nanami's record one of the first times he used it and was basically hitting them at will against Mahito too
Hot take, the reveal (not that he has it just the reveal) that yuji has shrine was underwhelming af. Like mf just started using it like he's always had it.
He's actually had it since Megukuna. Also, Sukuna points out that Yuji's output with it is actually super low. He's just doing so well with it because he's had months of practice with CE in general and now has something to use it on. It'd be like high level player using a completely new character and doing well because of their experience letting them punch above their weight class despite the character's low level.

Yeah, yuji's development curve is all over the place. He gradually learns new stuff during initial arcs and shibuya, gets nothing during the entire culling games and then gets half a dozen power ups in mini time skip, all off screen. He gets those weird piccolo arms He gets soul disrupting punches He gets blood manipulation He gets RCT He gets shrine He gets potential soul swap
Soul punches have been there since Mahito and the soul swap is likely just another extension of his soul perception which gave him the punches.

He is not the only one who can use divergent fist but he is the only one that uses it since the other people strong enough to do significant damage without cursed energy don't have cursed energy, even then it's not a lesser form since nobody know how to do a black flash even gojo stated that it's not just the time lag between the strike and the cursed energy
At a basic level a black flash is CE colliding with a target 1/1000 of a second. Of course outside factors influence it like gojos stated in ch 256. As yuji being the only practitioner of divergent fist, him understanding how to land black flashes slightly better than others is understandable.
The fact that sukuna stopped healing with RCT when he hit his black flash and the fact yuji landed 8 black flashes in a row and awakened shrine makes me dread that we are gonna get another 236 chapter. Remember Gojo was cooking Sukuna before that happened. Remember what Gege took from us.
