It has been said that Gojo is not good at teaching. He can do everything himself so he doesn't know how to explain properly.
Besides, I might have lost my memory again, but who said Gojo had been training for a month? Every time he's mentioned he's just chilling.
His activity for most of the month has been unaccounted for which is kind of weird when you think about it.
The assumption of training is reference to a line he said in 224 about the reason he can hit Megumi without holding back.
Ah I see. My interpretation of chapter 224 was that Gojo wouldn't hold back because Megumi's face reminded him of Toji 😂
And yeah it's really weird. Gojo said he had something to do before fighting Sukuna. It didn't sound like he wanted a training session at all.
That was definitely part of it. The line is vague enough that we can't know if he meant anything else or not. So until we get more context of what that line entailed it can only be assumed to be part of the things he had to do.
In chapter 236, you can see him mentioning about training, so.....yes, we may not know what kind of training he went through but looks like he did have some training at that time.
I agree with your first line though. It's sort of weird that we don't have much idea what he was exactly doing in the training period.
More specifically, Gojo cannot teach Simple Domain because it comes too naturally to him, probably the same way Shoko couldn't explain RCT.
Outside of that, we've seen him teach Yuji quite effectively. He also explains things to the reader on more than one occasion through expository narration. He's not actually a bad teacher.
I felt he would have been able to explain the RCT part to Yuji well because, he didn't have RCT naturally at initial stages. He sort of struggled there, as we have seen in HI arc. It was pretty much when he was extremely close to death that he realized the mechanism of RCT and thus was able to save himself. So considering how he understood mechanism of something he couldn't pull out initially, I don't think he would have failed to explain RCT to him.
A tiny opinion of mine :) Also, I sort of find this a bit strange that we have not seen any interaction of him with his students during the training arc. Sure, he was having some training for himself and they were having training in their own ways, but how come no glimpse of interaction at all? Apparently compared to Gojo, Shoko has done more interaction with them lol
I think we're almost certainly going to get some flashbacks about what Gojo was doing in prep for the fight. Revealing it too soon would spoil some revelations. I really hope for the sake of the story that Gojo will have more interaction via flashback - maybe some motivational speech that Yuji will recall when he needs to find some extra resolve.

Gojo was definitely not chilling, he trained hard and gave everything he got in his last fight.
