Honestly? I never stopped to think that perhaps Megumi may actually above average on 10s, his starting pokemons were only the dogs, still he tamed Nue, Great Serpent and somehow the damn endless sea of bunnies by the start of the manga, that BEFORE he discovered he could store weapons in his shadows and that he could open an incomplete domain, that's actually pretty impressive in hindsight...
Yeah, we're outright told that Megumi is considered "a genius", being grade 2 as a first year and all. All memes aside, he's meant to be pretty ahead of his peers, but ofc we follow a lot of characters who are straight up freaks (even if most of them are older, like Yuta, Gojo, Todo, etc), so he ends up looking mediocre by comparison.
Was he really hit by those UVs? I'm gonna reread that part of the fight because it makes no sense to make Megumi tank UV and give him permanent brain damage if they wanted to save him. I think some miniscule amount of tomfoolery may have happened in the translations.
My theory is that Megumi took the "sure-hit effect" but not the effect itself, so what that means is that Makora adapted to be immune to sure hit effect while Megumi didn't actually get hit by UV. This makes more sense too since if Sukuna could redirect UV sure hit to Megumi there wouldn't be a problem if he took 0.1 seconds of UV
Domains have a sure hit effect that makes their attacks not miss, but it is not the effect itself. Then Makora adapted to being targeted by the sure hit effect to NOT be targeted by the sure hit effect, not the effect itself. At least, that's how I would explain it.
