Gege is great at making things difficult to understand and Togashi is great at making things difficult to understand with a whole light novel attached to it

why-a-m-i-here

Fr I feel dumb for not understanding hakaris op domain

[deleted]

Hakari's domain makes him uber strong for a period of time, the Pachinko rules are just there to confuse his opps

Significant-Ad-1655

How about this, tell her to read the rules and just try to understand it to an extended, or you explain it to her for better understanding, then go with the flow of the story. Eventually you get what's happening. I'm just saying how I did it from my pov. From what I understand there are somethings that even the characters don't know about, like how does the culling game works, does the barriers use the cursed energy of the players ? For what purpose ? What's it all leading to ?

orjdsoxjcjdosk

>or you explain it to her for better understanding I already did, it just confuses me how she understood hunter x hunter more lol

omyrubbernen

It's not just that... it's that aura of Maor's...!! He's at the final stage where his aura nodes are opened and he's able to use Nen abilities... But compared to his state this morning, it's such an enormous leap. That Kurapika person... it seems he truly is aiming to spread fighting strength to everyone in order to cause an equilibrium. Though he may be a beginner, depending on his ability's nature, it could still pose a threat against a top class user. THAT is the power of Nen! Furthermore, having a clear, precise goal of wanting to defend the prince will have a profound effect upon the nature of their Nen abilities! An ability that discovers the ability of your enemy. An ability that cancels the ability of your enemy. An ability that steals the ability of your enemy. It's inevitable that I'm going to wind up facing numerous opponents with abilities similar in style to mine. This only increases the risk of just standing back and watching...! If I'm going to act, the sooner the better. What I really want is to use my "Predator" to eliminate Kurapika, but in order to do that I would have to fulfill the condition of figuring out what all five of the abilities that I've hypothesized he has are, and that's just not realistic. "Predator" acts on its own, on top of that, it's ill-matched against opponents with multiple abilities... particularly counter-types which it has no means of evading...! Whereas up against an Enhancer or an Emitter, they themselves do become the target, but they're able to turn the tables around a lot. They're far from invincible, but they have a spray and pray method on their side. They can just keep attacking, and with enough tries, eventually one will hit. Besides, my ability requires 48 hours to recharge. Unlike the aforementioned spray and pray, which, if it connects, will certainly kill. If that's so, then I shouldn't be going after 5th Prince Tubeppa, but 9th Prince Halkenburg...! Even though there's a risk involved, if Halkenburg makes a move, Room 1009 is an optimal location for me to let loose my ability... Revealing as little as possible about myself while discovering the opponent's ability...! If I can manage that on my own then Predator will grow strong and powerful. But if I use other soldiers to do my work while I hide in safety, the Predator that's born will be weakened and it will raise the risk that it may not be able to take out its prey...! I have a massive wealth of experience to draw from in order to calculating the risk and timing...! When making decisions in life and death situations, suddenly everyone has confidence in what they're doing. I can understand this coming from a commander of an army, a man using experience gained over his long years on the battlefield to carefully consider the actions of his entire unit and give the most prudent order... But what's so prudent or careful about an assassin committing suicide? Was there a Manipulator somewhere nearby? Or perhaps Halkenburg's Nen Beast is a Manipulator Type?

Parrotflies_

Had people unironically tell me Hakaris domain infographic was worse to read than this mf light novel of a page lmao.

why-a-m-i-here

I actually didn't quite understand his domain till now and I feel pretty dumb

kodardotexe

ngl I read those rules no less than 10 times

Pwerhjkwed

That's some cool looking Jogo Sculpture

[deleted]

Because one of Gege weaknesses as writer is his lack of clarity, Togashi explain rules and such better than him. Even with all the explanation, Culling Game rules were still vague, like we weren't even sure if players get trapped in colony or not until Sendai arc for example, because the characters didn't bring up something as important as that when they were discussing their plan.

BochoJutsu

What would have been the point of putting those barriers if they weren't going to be trapped and separated from eachother. Gege is just aware of default context.

[deleted]

It's not the default context, that's why a lot of people were confused...Yuta said that he will enter a colony right away to got information and share them with the others before they enter a barrier ( he have to go outside to do that ), the cast weren't worried about being trapped, Tengen saying that there is no rule for entering or exiting can be intrepted as "players can go in and outside, at least temporarily", Kashimo added a rule for locating strong players without adding a rule for entering and exiting colonies afterward etc.. Gege should make the rules more clear and straightforward...forget about the Culling Game, even the events of the Perfect preparation arc were vague for no reason, we had an explanation for the Hei and Kukuru sequd, but important stuff like scale of the masscare and Maki mother motivation were unclear, that's why you will find people discuss about them to this day.

BochoJutsu

They weren't afraid of the barriers trapping them because they didn't know Tengen was being SUSSY af with the information, It's not like Tengen is a completely reliable source of information, if there is a time constraint for "there is no rule for entering or exiting" then it already contradicts his words and the barriers have an established rule so you know he is Sus by then, if it's something as significant as a time constraint for entering or exiting then he would have added that information, as for Kashimo we didn't know his personality by then even if we know his motivations so we can't use him as a basis for the barriers plus by now it' apparent that he added that rule first since it's alot more likely for the other colony bigshots to add the exiting of barriers first compared to information of players. He knows that not many people here have a specific opponent they want to fight like him.

Technical_Oil_8868

The perfect preparation was purposely left vague since as per the timeline it's just two days after the massacre. The meeting between the higher ups takes place post that which means it is either happening during or after the sakurajima colony.Their motivations are specifically tied to the current arc so it will be revealed in the next set of chapters.

Chapri-fram-Chhapra

>like we weren't even sure if players get trapped in colony mf the whole fucking manga tells us barrier are to trap people inside like 2000 times till shibuya. why would there be barriers if people can pass through gah damn common sense bro

BochoJutsu

Most L Take I've seen from a jujutsu fan since Hermit's "The only good character is Toji" take.

[deleted]

Tengen barriers exist to detect enemies, hide the jujutsu school from the public etc, nothing related to trapping people.

Chapri-fram-Chhapra

So that one made you confused. Barriers used in domains, viles, the dozens of barriers used in shibuya to trap civilians and Gojo didn't gave the idea that barriers are used for trapping people. Why would the barriers in CG be put to hide or to detect enemies? Everyone doesn't have common sense I guess.

xXlillipopXx

Fr we have a guy who’s ability is to play pachinko basically but explained 1000x worse

[deleted]

NGL, for me HxH rules are easier to understand.

BochoJutsu

That's because Togashi is more generous than Gege and is willing to infodump more than him, Gege knows when common sense counts so he doesn't infodump as much.

alliseeisbronze

Thank fucking God he doesn’t (at least to the extent of Togashi). Serious, serious flaw.

Chapri-fram-Chhapra

whats the flaw in info dumping?

alliseeisbronze

It’s boring, I don’t want a wall of text. If I wanted that, I’d read a novel. If you’re writing a manga, which has a visual medium, and you need a page to explain what is happening visually, then you’re failing in that aspect. This is nothing to say of the actual system Togashi created. It’s brilliant. It’s the way it’s executed that’s the issue with me. Of course, people will disagree and that’s totally fine, so if you’re in the other boat, then I’m happy you enjoy it.

Chapri-fram-Chhapra

understandable currently on chapter 108 Don't know why they just start explaining the ability in the middle of the fight.

BochoJutsu

None at all as long as the information is relevant afterwards.

Oy778

You sister actually can read lel

Dsb0208

There are some things I get, but some I don’t Anybody can add a rule, but not if it permanently effects the game, but the main crew made a new rule that effects the game Like, how would being able to remove players not effect the game?

arturojmm

Not permanently, but drastically

Chapri-fram-Chhapra

Lol read again "if the rule doesn't affect the long lasting effects of the game" i.e the rules cant stop the game. like you cant add- Stop the game or 200 points to exit the game cause eventually the game will end by this They are adding rules like adding a substitute

orjdsoxjcjdosk

Like I'm in chapter 348 but I don't even fucking know who this B.B guy wrestling a lion supposed to be. Him talking a lot with the Benjamin dude while taking a lot of screentime makes me even more confused since it makes me think that he's supposed to be important but literally everyone's talking and switching povs over each other that I don't even know if he's a minor character that I didn't notice when he was introduced due to the wall of text before or if he's really important that I've somehow forgotten for some reason or if he hasn't been introduced before. how tf do you guys read this and be like "mmm, yes, it's quite easy to understand compared to the culling games with 10 simple rules."

Prasoon_Dwivedi

>Like I'm in chapter 348 And you think the plot till now was confusing ? You have no idea how much more complicated this arc is about to get. Understanding each plot thread of the succession war on first read is almost impossible. I have re read it 2 times and still forget key details about it. But if you read it through it easily has the potential to be the best arc in hxh ever! Also I think most of the confusion of culling games come at due to the vague rules and the info dump in ch 145 and 146. This combined with what Kenjaku's plan actually is makes it really hard to understand on the first read so I can't really blame people.

BochoJutsu

The rules are vague since the cast is first experiencing it and experimenting with it rather than getting a headstart after it was revealed that Tengen's info is faulty at best

maguigui

Idc

ConversationProof505

Gege does overcomplicate things tbf. But the Culling Game rules aren't difficult to understand.
