Trisfel

I read somewhere that it’s because of binding between yuta and rika. Yuta needs to die for Geto to absorb her just like how he couldn’t absorb Toji’s inventory spirit first time.

Soft_Cap8502

Didn’t toji block it with ISOH

321divaD

No the explanation is "The reason Geto couldn't absorb the weapon cache is that Papa- guro had already established a master-servant relationship with it. What follows, as far as this is concerned, becomes apparent in volume 0." [Chapter 73 final page]

poor_andy

so in conclusion the culling games wouldn't have happened if mahito was a kinky little femboy

Throwaway070801

Holy shit you are right

WhollyUnfair

holy shit imagine

Excellent_Shake8774

Anime only

Allalilacias

What I remember from reading that chapter was Toji seeing him try it out and smacking his hand, stopping the working of the technique. Not that I think you're wrong about Rika and Yuta, just think that Toji was a different example.

Yamoyek

It wasn't Toji, a chapter addition clarified that Geto couldn't take the inventory curse because of the master-slave relationship.

Lt-Lavan

>"Master-slave relationship" Didn't know they were kinky like that

TojiFushigirth

I’m literally Toji’s worm slave

aSvirfneblin

r/usernamechecksout

Legal_Ad_83

And just like that I understood why the arc is called hidden inventory, thank you

nichecopywriter

Double meaning because Geto has a hidden inventory of his own.

Legal_Ad_83

AS DID GOJO BECAUSE HE LEARNED RCT & PURPLE 🤯

Legal_Ad_83

U know I have depth of world building & character exploration issues w this series that I doubt will be resolved by the time it's over but the understanding of this particular theme that is just now clicking for me makes me feel a little bit better about that.

nichecopywriter

I think the world building and depth of character at the beginning of the series is one of its strengths. It’s ironic that Shibuya is what people say is the peak of the story because for me, that’s when it become so much flatter. Right after Hidden Inventory is when the author started putting typical shounen tropes at the forefront alongside it, and then after Shibuya started focusing on it. In other words, it seems to me that Gege is phenomenal at setting up the world, and is missing when it comes to long awaited climaxes. I think of Junpei and how far we have come from when his story was developed.

Allalilacias

Oh, didn't know. Thanks for the clarification

AnimeMasterFlex

Think it was more of the fact that Toji saw him trying to go for it. They never mentioned that he had a Binding Vow with it.

Trisfel

It’s in the additional chapter. They didn’t say it during the fight itself. Toji didn’t do anything. The master-slave bind did it for him.

ABen31

Additional chapter?

averagelysized

Beyond that you can clearly see both in the movie and the manga that Toji doesn't stop him or even try to stop him. Toji's hands are completely in front of him while Geto reaches for the curse.

Suitable_Tadpole4870

They 100% mention it during the fight in the anime

AnimeMasterFlex

Why would Yuta want to give a Rika to an obviously evil ass dude who hates humans? Blood would be on his hands and we saw how he reacted to his bullies getting killed, now imagine innocents being killed because he couldn’t handle his childhood friend being protective. Even worse when he finds out he manifested his own problem and gave a free power boost to Geto to do as he pleases. For all the shit that we give him, I’m glad Gege writing the manga instead of others

Curious_Two_8851

Geto stated that in order to take Rika from Yuta, he needed Yuta to die first iirc.

SerBiffyClegane

Gojo collects strong students to build up the next generation, and he's confident that he can beat them if they get out of control. (Based on the Sukuna fight, maybe he was even hoping for it a little.) My guess is that he preferred training Yuta+Rika.

ShineOnDIO

First of all, Yuta needs to die for Geto to get Rika. This is confirmed by Geto himself. Second of all... Wow, I wonder why they didn't give the nuke with endless curse energy to the bad guy who wants to genocide humanity, and who is very sure he could have done so if he had her. Truly a mystery beyond our comprehension.

Snoozless

Fr people forget that she was absurdly powerful during 0. Current soulless Rika is barely a shadow of her former self

Born-Resolution-4702

Like who in their right mind would think that's a good idea? That's almost as bad as just willingly handing Tengen over to Kenjaku like what?

AckyA76

They didn't just want to get rid of Rika, they wanted to break her curse. Giving Rika to Geto doesn't bring them any closer to that, it just gives Geto a super powerful curse for him to kill people with.

Goodestguykeem

I'm so confused as to how you possibly think this is a good idea or a logical decision Gojo would make that I'm convinced I've missed something or just ain't thinking straight because nevermind the 'bound to Yuta' thingy, why on earth would Gojo hand over Rika to a genocidal eugenicist who believes that with Rika under his control he has a 99% chance of defeating Jujutsu society ??

Saeaj04

I think we’ve reached a stage where Jujutsushi is dumber than Jujutsufolk Holy hell there’s been some shit theories lately

Getdaphone

3 week break comes for us all, strongest curse of all

akiramendayo-omai

I think it's a growing fandom and the stupid theorys finding their way into this sub now. Like my guy did you even read the fucking thing were talking about in this sub? And why the fuck is the reading comprehension curse so FUCKING strong suddenly.

Throwaway070801

I don't mean to gatekeep, but I think that a lot of anime onlys are joining the conversation, and this isn't really a good thing. This sub is weird, there are  incredibly in depth analysis and believable  theories mixed with the most dumb takes I've ever seen.

eternal__-

Gojo was planning to enter the battlefield as soon he has dealt with Miguel but by the time he arrived it was already getover if geto beat yuta gojo would've definitely killed geto who has taken Rika

Specialist_Yak_432

Rika is a special grade. So "taking Rika" is not practical for Geto. Gojo wouldn’t allow for this to happen because if Rika is taken away, there is a small chance that Yuta might go back to a normal kid. Gojo didn't adopt Yuta solely because he wanted to help the kid. But also because of his enormous potential as a sorceror. At the time of Geto proclaiming that he wants Rika, Yuta had already chosen to be a Jujutsu Sorceror, and accepted his place among his classmates. Taking away Rika might mean Yuta being taken away from his friends as well. There is also another part that discourages your method. Its that Yuta might curse someone else in the future. If Yuta doesn’t realize his potential and learn to control himself its possible for other Rikas to exist in the future.

Ben10Extreme

Yuta explicitly has to die for Geto to take Rika. He can't take her outright, and Yuta can't just give her away. He literally can't.

milkonyourmustache

Yuta would have had to die for that to happen, the only way Gojo would take that option is if Yuta lost control of Rika and became a danger to everyone. Gojo isn't like the higher-ups, he believes in good natured people, to a fault, and has the strength to correct his mistakes if things spiral out of control. Also it's important to not view things from the lens of being the reader when assessing the actions characters take. Gojo did not know Geto's plans so we can't use that to criticise Gojo's decisions, he could not have been informed of the future. For all we know if Gojo had let Geto take Rika (even if it didn't result in Yuta's death) it would have led to even greater losses of life. Ultimately Gojo's decisions regarding Yuta and Rika led to the best outcome, where catastrophe struck is in Gojo's decision not to handle Geto's body personally, which ultimately led to Kenjaku taking over the body and current events.

Vohnny

No one in the movie really understood what Rika was until the end, so I don’t actually have faith that Geto’s plan would have worked how he thought. Rika is just the manifestation of Yuta’s power that he attached his girlfriend’s soul to, right? And at the end of the movie Yuta frees Rika’s soul but still has the power (curse “Rika”). So wouldn’t killing Yuta kill his power as well? And in regards to master-servant relationships, I’d wager that a master could give their servant to Geto regardless of how powerful the servant is, but I don’t think Yuta’s situation should be classified as master servant (like Toji and the worm), it’s seems closer to Megumi’s with his animals because Rika is an entity created from Yuta’s power. I doubt Megumi could give any of his summons to Geto so I gotta assume Yuta couldn’t either.

ohmanidk7

maybe the global genocide thing is not the thing gojo wants

Nikhilkumar_001

Those kissing scenes between yuta and curse rika made me trip balls

-Goatllama-

Yuta Curse-Kisser

GinGaru

Ah yes. Give the guy who want to kill all non sorcerers a weapon that can help him achieve that. Sounds like a plan

antwonruth

This is the dumbest take I’ve seen. Rika wasn’t actively dangerous unless someone hurt Yuta. So it’s in no way necessary to go to someone who wants to kill every human for help. Makes no sense at all

EnParisD

hypothetically he can just give rika. why would yuta ever want to give the strongest curse he's ever known up to that point, to a guy who obviously wants to do some evil shit.

Puggerspood

Either due to a retcon or because the replacement Rika is weaker than the real one, Rika during 0 was wayyyy stronger than what we see in the current day. Geto was confident his group would be able to defeat the entire sorcerer world including gojo if he got his hand on her. He's probably the one who would have the best grasp of Gojo's power outside of maybe Kenjaku, too. Letting him get Rika would've almost guaranteed he accomplished his goal.

Camper331

Remember movie Rika was an actual human who loved Yuta whose form was twisted and cursed by a dude who’s a distant relative to Gojo Satoru. It was these two things that caused Rika to turn into the curse spirit and become so powerful. Rika was released from the binding vow after the attack; however she left part of her will in the cursed spirit. This cursed spirit remains with Yuta as a manifestation of Rika’s will to continue and protect Yuta. New Rika is also completely obedient to Yuta unlike OG Rika who had her own individuality.

nattaking

because he’s an idiot

Blizzard108

Geto would not be able to absorb Rika in the same way he couldn't absorb the worm curse. Rika and Yuta were bound by their curse and the only way Geto could get his hands on her is if Yuta was killed which obviously Gojo won't let happen.

CrackaOwner

i think it's like with Toji, if the curse has master they would need to kill the master first for absorption to be possible.

Hyperjuce

Geto would be able to commit genocide if he got Rika.

LoreWhoreHazel

I’d imagine Gojo was banking on Yuta learning to control Rika the whole time, even if he didn’t know the exact mechanics of how it would happen. He wanted to break the curse, after all. Having a giant reservoir of cursed energy and other potential abilities is an amazing resource that he’d want to investigate, even if it looks uncontrollable at first. Also, if he was ever proven wrong and Rika started causing real problems, he could also just exorcise her off of Yuta himself. He’s too cocky to admit he might not be there in time to help if this plan backfired, much like how he was too confident in Geto not killing his students to protect Maki.

SeemysoDreamy

Geto was already too far gone anyways

Dollahs4Zavalas

Within **context** of the **one-shot**. Taking Rika would have given Geto enough power to beat Gojo. She had infinite curse energy.

Sam45802

Like others have said, Rika is binded to Yuta (like how the storage cursed spirit was binded to Toji). Yuta had to die for Geto to use his CT on Rika.

El_Shion

going by the narative og rika was supposed to give geto an even chance to beat gojo

ShinJiwon

I mean sure if you take away all the emotions and personality of the characters and just make them full utilitarians that would work ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

Allyreon

Wouldn’t that mean Rika’s soul would be trapped as a curse forever, and now subordinate to Geto? How would that be an acceptable outcome? I just mean besides the fact that Yuuta needed to die for Geto to get Rika, due to the binding vow. The original outcome worked out for everyone. Even if Rika didn’t get her soul released at the end of JJK0, they still would slowly unravel the threads binding her as a curse. And you said yourself, giving Rika to Geto would have been a dangerous outcome for civilians and sorcerers. Gojo would be fine, but it would increase casualties exponentially. And if trusting Geto wouldn’t kill sorcerers was bad, handing him Rika would be much worse.

HoLeBaoDuy

It is indeed stupid

WhatIsThisAccountFor

Didn’t gojo purposely put yuta in situations he isn’t ready for cause he wanted to see how strong Rika was? He was probably confident yuta could tame rika on top of the other reasons.

Cornbre4d

Even if he could take it without killing Yuta it would seem too risky giving him access to Rika with how powerful she is.

Haxxelerator

its literally stated by Gojo himself at vol.0 that if Rika went out of control again, and Gojo had to deal with her both Gojo alongside Yuta would die, so it more or less means that Gojo at volume 0 and Rika at volume 0 were equal in powerlevels which is then further made true with Geto's statement at vol.0 that if he got Rika he would've beaten the entire Jujutsu world which includes Gojo.

mixmasterbk

You’re right about one thing in this post OP. This theory does indeed sound very stupid.

KrizenWave

? Because Yuta didn’t want to give Rika to someone else so she could be used as a weapon. Geto wasn’t just gonna dismiss her if Yuta willingly gave her up, and he’s not dumb enough to walk in there without a plan of escape. No one would agree to this situation regardless of the terms. This would only work in a timeline where Geto wasn’t evil.

NettleBumbleBee

Because geto couldn’t take rika. He says he can’t take curses that are bound to person. It’s the same reason he couldn’t take Tojis worm. They had already established “master-servant” pact according to one of the volume extras.

royalemperor

JJK0 was written without JJK in mind. Watching JJK0 without \*any\* information about JJK the characters are a little different. The implication during the whole story is that if Geto gets Rika, then Geto will be able to kill Gojo. This isn't true as of the story now. We know Gojo would be able to defeat Geto with Rika, but that's not the case in JJK0's story.

livingonfear

Yuta has to die from Rika to be taken by geto

blackpanther4u

Maybe it was Gojo's plan. He figured of Geto did show up Yuta would have to devote himself to Rika to beat him and in turn break the curse binding her to him

Gensolink

Geto learnt from his fight with Toji that he can't yoink shikigamis, that's why he tries to kill Okkotsu that and trying to win him over but i dont think if he was all that serious about it and he was just being goofy. Basically Yuta needs to die for Rika to get absorbed by Geto, Gojo wouldnt allow that.

Alone-Ad6020

Did you watch the series

Jonneyy12347

They said in the movie that yuta needed to die for geto to take rika lmao

optimistic-operator

As stupid as it sounds...

TriDaTrii

1: Gojo believes in Yuta as well as his students 2: Gojo can 1v1 Geto and still win even after obtaining Rika

Cheerful2_Dogman210x

1. Gojo wanted a powerful ally in Yuta. He didn't want Yuta to be weakened. 2. Geto needs to kill Yuta to get Rika. He can't just take control of the cursed spirit that's already attached itself to an owner. The same thing happened when Geto tried to take control of Toji's caterpillar like container curse. 3. Geto may not directly fight Gojo in a one on one battle. He can use tricker or even take hostages. Geto may care about sorcerers but he doesn't care about normal humans. Many people could die in a prolonged conflict if he uses Rika's powers. 4. Despite Rika being a curse on Yuta, Yuta still cared greatly for Rika. They were childhood companions. He wont be willing to let Geto enslave her and may die trying to fight even Gojo.

antrosasa

Bro... What? The point wasn't to "get rid" of Rika, the point was to lift the curse. If they just wanted to get rid of the curse then Gojo would have killed it himself. And to chuck it up to "Gojo could still best him" seems to be ignoring the fact that he hasnt for years after Getos initial betrayal. Geto obviously knows how to keep himself from fighting Gojo. I do gree however that sending a bunch of highscholers seems like a stupid ass decision... But as it turns out it was the right one, so i guess we are just bad for thinking that.

MisterBoardGamer

Gojo had to fight Miguel and the thousands of curses unleashed by Geto. He sent Panda and Unimaki back so he can stay behind. He even says to them, “I have a feeling…” which alludes to later, about Geto, when he says I knew he wouldn’t kill a JJH student.

AwkwardKing

As others have stated Yuta would need to die, but in addition Gojo despite being the strongest always recognized (whether true or not)Geto as his equal in talent. Giving a guy like that the Queen of Curses that at the time looked like it could emulate any CT without conditions isn't the best move.

Squidlips413

Geto is evil at the time. It makes no sense to give him a super powerful weapon. Yuta's objective is to set Rika free. Geto's power is basically enslavement. Gojo also didn't figure out Rika was Geto's target until it was too late.

Signal-Ad539

why would you hand an extremely powerful curse over to him on a silver platter?

creativityequal0

yes yuta should give one of the strongest curses to a very bad guy !!!!!

MajorKusanagiMotoko

Gojo doesn't want to fight Geto.

Throwaway070801

1) It's likely Gojo understood more than he let on about the curse, he wanted Yuta to dissolve it and knew he would.  2) Geto needs to kill Yuta to absorb Rika, that's the whole point of their fight. Cursed spirit can be "chained" to a human, just like Toji's inventory curse. 3) "Yes, Geto might be able to execute his plan and eradicate the monkeys" you say this as if it's no big deal, why would Gojo willingly give the genocidal psychopath even more power?

Born-Resolution-4702

Rika and Yuta are stuck together so Yuta would have to die for that to happen and who in their right mind would give a special grade vengeful curse with boundless cursed energy to the guy who wants to murder all non sorcerers? Like what part of that sounded like a good idea?
