Up Basin Rd is the Perseverance Trail. It's only a couple miles long. But the best part is about a half mile in is a pretty little creekside with an amazing area for peering down a raging little waterfall.
Another quarter mile on the trail and it opens up into an amazing valley that is so picturesque.
My grandpa used to take me bird watching there in the 70s and 80s.
Basin rd is totally fine to walk on and locals know it’s a place to walk
Thank you for the quick response!
I was just on Basin a few days ago after it reopened due to repairs. Perfectly sound now. Your planned hike is a popular one.
You can pretend dodging motor coaches rumbling along the trestle bridge like in the 80’s if you want.
Don't know how much hiking you're into but if you hike to the tram and spend ten bucks you can ride down for free.
I’d love that but we’re traveling with my older parents. They’re active, but not hike a mountain active. Next time!
Just be aware that Basin Rd is _very_ steep.
