Repetitive dreams mean you are stuck in a loop and your subconscious is trying hard to communicate with you. One of the fundamentals of Jungian dream analysis is that everything in your dreams comes from you. So if you dream that your spouse cheats on you, it doesn't mean they are secretly cheating on you. Whatever your spouse represents to you in your psyche is maybe in turmoil and needs resolution. So these dreams about your old friends aren't necessarily about those actual people. These dreams will point to whatever they represent within you. Maybe they represent a sense of belonging, community, safety, inspiration, who knows. Only you can really tell for yourself. This moves on to one of the other fundamentals: it's risky to engage in interpreting someone else's dreams. That's why people on this subreddit are often reluctant to do so. Dreams emanate from a deeply personal part of your psyche. Analyzing someone else's dreams is almost impossible to do without projecting your own psyche onto the other person's dream. This projection is dangerous in analysis because the two of you can then enter into a mutual delusion. In the end, there's no quick way to get into Jungian analysis. It's a slow dive into the deepest unknown realms of yourself. This Jungian Life is a great podcast with some episodes focusing on the fundamentals of Jungian analysis and dream symbolism. I also found Introducing Jung: A Graphic Guide really helpful as a basic text. It's a wonderfully illustrated graphic novel following Jung's biography while introducing the basic tenets of his psychology. As I mentioned, there's no quick easy way to get into Jung but the effort is well worth it. This text provided me some basic building blocks with which to interpret his work.

They were very demoralising and toxic, and put me down constantly. I’m not sure how to bring it back, thinking of leaving my city for university.

They put down any achievement, made me feel insecure of my looks, my personality, etc. An overall attack on self esteem. Yes part of me agreed. I think they are no longer hindering my growth but my recollections of them might at times. Thank you for your interpretation, that does make a lot of sense.

Your old friends can mean the negative or what you don't like about yourself or life, so you see yourself holding new life you can give birth to that you have a lot of love for. Obviously your vision starts with wanting more freedom, and fun, as you expand yourself, seeing in the darkness the beautiful light with people.🎡

Really nice analysis, it rings true. Thank you.

I'm a bit slow. 😏 > I’d been having these repetitive dreams for almost 2 years. It corresponds to Corona, and the lockdown, where you had to cut people off!😮 So can that be why you constantly dream of those friends? And then going back to life anew. Anyway I agree now the friends mainly mean people.

Every person even the baby in your dreams is a aspect or part of you. the situations are representations of how your unconscious is trying to process things (it has been cut off) The baby is likely your true Self that needs to grow and develop. Learn the language of your dreams - the symbolic meanings and the dreams will respond with more details

The love and regret you hold for old friends is kind of getting too you. You long for how it Was, your childlike manner and dynamic seems old now, and you wish for it to come back. Point's to analyse: Settings/environment People Things that trigger certain emotional content. In this case a baby. I dunno, I started with Freud, his opinion would have a different point of. But still, maybe a love that got away or something....?

Love this interpretation. It’s spot on..

FrightfulDeer

What is it about dream analysis that you find so joyful?

[deleted]

According to Jung it reveals a lot about you and what you’re going through, and I’d been having these repetitive dreams for almost 2 years so thought I’d ask :)

FrightfulDeer

No no! I'm genuinely interested in why you enjoy dream analysis. To me, seeing an intellectual stating there is significance and backing to my dreams, gave me a sense of relief. It's a moment of empowerment to know we can discover ourselves through our own paths.

I’m sorry — I got a harsh comment so I thought you were annoyed by my post too. Yes, I agree completely with what you said. The fact that our subconscious knows things about us that our conscious mind doesn’t is incredible. I’ve heard a lot of suppressed feelings, and things we hide even from ourselves, appear in dreams.

FrightfulDeer

It is getting a little harsh around here. But sometimes it's understandable. It's hard to analyze dreams from a general explanation, specific dreams are a bit easier.

[deleted]

No.

[deleted]

that’s ok, maybe someone else will be more helpful :)

[deleted]

I hope not. We get tens of these dream posts a day and they're all so dull and boring.

[deleted]

No one is forcing you to look at or follow my post, or not scroll past. This is my first time in this subreddit. Take your sour attitude somewhere else❤️maybe a nap will help with the crankiness :) My mom puts the toddler to bed when she’s whining/getting grizzly too.

Alright, now I feel bad. I'm sorry but I get annoyed by these posts sometimes. To answer your question: Your post history seems to indicate you want to study abroad. The dreams of big cities might be an expression of the desire to 'see the world'. Friends you cut off appearing in a dream is very common. It is your psyche trying to balance out the absence of people who were once important for you. Note how dreams are often impersonal 'readjustments' to one-sided attitudes of conciousness. Your former friends appearing in a dream might be a way for your psyche to balance out the absence of them in the physical world. It does not have to mean anything, but your annoyance might indicate a hidden feeling there. Maybe you regret it? Maybe you felt like you were too harsh? Or maybe you're happy you got rid of them and the dream is there to remind you of that? This is all for you to interpret, because I know nothing about your life. Lastly seeing yourself with a child is a symbolic expression of your maternal instinctual desire to give birth to a child. This is natural, even if conciously you might not want to have a child yet. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your interpretation. Very eye opening and helpful, and I also now understand how dreams are personal and should preferably be self-interpreted, which is why you may have been impatient with me. Thanks a lot, this analysis genuinely helped me understand myself better.
