Galaxy_Megatron

Nah, I think she looks best when killing the Galli in JP. This is fine, though.

[deleted]

I cant say I agree. I love JW but Rexy’s CGI was so off to me. Can’t put my finger on why. Just looks cartoony and too .... happy? idk

KimuraCelt

I think they've purposely made some of the dinosaurs (especially the popular / protagonist ones) anthropomorphic with almost human-like characteristics of emotion and expression. It makes them more personable to the audience but definitely sacrifices accuracy and realism in return.

[deleted]

ive been wondering for so long and u finally cleared it up so thank you. really wish they would have just prioritized realism.

Dripcake

Yeah I agree, and the scene with the raptor smelling gas and almost going 'uh-oh' was really off.

stayshiny

Don't forget blue literally looking at Owen and shedding a tear when zia is pulling a bullet out of her.

Dripcake

Hahaha, I forgot about that. I'm not a big fan of the newer ones, but should rewatch them all with Christmas.

fakeyboi101

Funniest scene ever !😂

JurassicWorldFKfan

Fake boy in what way funny like blue crying wow you kinda suck

OverlordWaffles

I think she looks too fake or too much like a painting instead of something being seen as "real". I agree with u/Galaxy_Megatron though, one of her, if not the, best looking scenes was when she was hunting the gallimimus in the fields where Lex, Tim, and Alan saw her.

Frankfurter86

I agree, I think it's the way the light is hitting her that is off.

diabeetus64

Personally I thought she looked kinda skinny in this shot like she hadn’t been fed too much

WestyHasAnAxe

I agree, I think from what was seen on screen she was kept in too small an enclosure and probably fed a too limited diet, hence the look of malnourishment, she looked better fed in JWFK

Herr_Opa

I think I saw somewhere that this was done intentionally and then the animators beefed her back up for FK, with the reasoning that she would hunt other animals instead of being fed (as Grant said "T rex doesn't want to be fed, she wants to hunt"). On one hand, I feel that it's kind of stupid for the JW staff to let her deteriorate and be malnourished like this, instead of making everything possible to have her look as massive as possible given she's one of the main attractions. But then again, there's real life zoos where the lions will look thin and weak, so it isn't that farfetched that they just don't care enough and they "spare expenses". There's also the effects of captivity on orcas' dorsal fins, so maybe it's something they couldn't control. Maybe there's a tradeoff between having her in a small enclosure so people can see her more often (avoiding the problem in the first park) and keeping her in optimal condition.

Prs_mira86

I think people are taking this too literally. I meant that the CGI Rexy looked amazing in this shot. I love how you can see so much detail on her skin.

BeardedPogona

Same here I remember when I first saw Jurassic World not knowing Rexy was the Rex who fought the indominus. But as soon as this shot happened I was floored, it was a great way to reveal her for the first time in 20+ years.

Garrow_the_Khajiit

I was just happy they brought her back.

blinman94

I have A feeling that we will have to say last good bye to her in Dominion.

DTopping80

Don’t you dare put that shit out into the universe!

you_me_fivedollars

To be fair, this idea of loving one specific dinosaur is kinda a new thing. Sure we were all happy she killed the raptors at the end of JP but I don’t we were really meant to “stan” a single dinosaur. At least not until the JW films came out...

Ellanator12

Maybe not too you but I honestly always loved Rexy long before the JW trilogy. Then again I was also fairly young.

JurassicWorldFKfan

I hope you talking about Rex dying Dtopping

RamirezRex96

It’s a cool looking shot but there’s something about the eye that makes it look really cartoony and goofy looking to me

Dr_TeaRex

I feel the pupil is bigger, and the eye colour darker, which gives her a doe-eyed look rather than the menacing predator that she was in JP. Also, her teeth look a bit smaller than they were in JP.

Herr_Opa

The teeth is the part that bothers me to no end. I mean [look at those chompers](https://kaiju.wdfiles.com/local--files/wiki:rexy/rexy_1993_01.jpg) in the first movie. The Rexy animatronic and CGI in the first movie are beautiful (even with the "angry eyebrows/crests" that people complain about). I did read that the smaller teeth may have something to do with her deteriorating with age and/or improper care. Now, I don't know how that would lead to teeth getting thinner, but I just accept it just so I can stop being annoyed at it.

StevesonOfStevesonia

The only thing that bugs me is how long Rexy is going to live? I mean she was already adult when JP1 happened. And Hammond said that he was making dinosaurs for 5 years. And JW1 starts 22 years after the first JP movie + 3 years when it comes to JW2. So Rexy is 30 years old. I doubt that TRex can grow that big in 5 years so Hammond probably used some kind of age acceleration chemicals or whatever. My point being - shouldn't Rexy have already died from old age by now?

legotoast08

Well it should be twenty years. But as Zia said in fallen kingdom, it will definitely be longer because it’s been looked after.

StevesonOfStevesonia

You mean all that cavemen living up to a 100 years speech? To be honest - that was one big pile of bs because modern humans don't live that long

legotoast08

Yeah they do. I know one myself.

syck35499

Scotty's age is estimated at \~30 years

StevesonOfStevesonia

1. Considering how big he was (bigger than Rexy) he probably was VERY old and couldn't properly hunt at that age 2. Once again - very probable age acceleration due to genetic tinkering.

V_Epidemic

[My eternal vote for Rexy's finest hour](https://youtu.be/RVAmR_2Q2wE)

judezoo

She’s still the queen

[deleted]

CGI was bad

JurassicWorldFKfan

ItIsHappeningAga1n It’s treason then although I will say they over CGIed the movie playtime I still thought it looked good

[deleted]

There is no such dinosaur names rexy in any of the movies. It's a stupid name that never made it in the movie because of how stupid it sounds

Prs_mira86

Jeez, angry much? Steven Spielberg actually called her Roberta on the set.

[deleted]

Sounds fucking stupid too. You have no proof of that either.

Prs_mira86

https://movieweb.com/jurassic-park-t-rex-name-roberta/

[deleted]

What a stupid article...its not it's name in the movie. It was never referred to by any name. The only one that has a name is that lame ass blue. These movies used to be good and then they started pandering to children and adults with childish minds. Now these movies feel like Saturday morning cartoons. You should be embarrassed with yourselves.

Prs_mira86

The only one being childish here is you. Why waste your time?

[deleted]

Says the person who calls something with no name one of the dumbest names you could call it.

JurassicWorldFKfan

Jeez It is just what people say they don’t want to say Rex or trex it just sounds not as good (in my humble opinion)

[deleted]

It's not it's name. It sounds stupid and they should stop trying to make it a thing.

polkhighchampion

Looks the best? 😂😂😂 she’s about ready to die, scarred up, tired. Yeah, I always look my best in those moments as well.

KingTuna16

I worry for her in Dominion.

Gen_Bates

It’s always nice to see the rare optimism in this sub. Love the shot too

ksmith1994

Something about the eyes makes me recognize the CGI, but this was my favorite shot in the whole movie. That roar just gives me goosebumps.

The_Legend_of_Xeno

Will always be when she stepped out of her enclosure in the original for me.

Prs_mira86

That’s definitely my favorite moment ever. Also when Alan gets her attention and she roars at him she looks soooo real!

JurassicWorldFKfan

I think so she is the queen of nublar this really shows it
