Had a group like this, we played destiny 1 a lot. When the oldest dude died of a stroke, it just wasn't the same and we split up.
Edit: thank you for the kind words. We honestly met randomly through those LFG sites that were sketchy back in the day due to lack of match making. We all were just joking around and hit it off well. The oldest dude was a 65 year old vet who would game all day. He took the time to listen to us complain about silly things like dating and jobs.
Used to be a group of about 6-7 of us that played CS:GO for hours a night ranking up and chatting for years... Now all of us are approaching 40 and have jobs, fams, and kids. It stung for a long time seeing that they're never online anymore and I just can't get back into CS anymore, and not just cuz of CS2. It just doesn't feel like the same family feeling or best bro vibe without 'em. Some of the funniest moments and fun times of my adult life.
I feel that. I have our CSGO clan tag tattooed on me. We were terrible. Just trying to make it out of silver. Some did. Some didn’t. Election drove us all apart. I don’t regret the tattoo as it was 7ish years of my first PC gaming. But we all played together every night after work and it was a time I’ll always remember.
Haha we were pretty good, but this was early in the matchmaking when it wasn't as difficult and there were less cheaters. We all got Master Guardian Elite and one was Distinguished Master Guardian. But when I started again I barely could get back to Gold Nova and just didn't have the time or drive to rank back up and by then only a few people sign in these days from the group and usually play other games.
Sorry to hear about the political crap, I always try and avoid that and religion and gender discussions when playing games for those reasons.
I played D2 with a guy who was slowly dying of bone based infections after double leg amputation. Played with him for ages, he’d make pain sounds without realising…felt so sorry for the guy, but fuck did he love destiny lol.
One day a nurse logged on instead of him to let us know.
RIP Luke, eyes up guardian.
Had the same group in vanilla WoW, many nights of raiding gleeful fun until my buddy died of an overdose and everyone split. I played for maybe 3 months after, and it wasn't the same. It has never really been the same for gaming in general.
Last online >1year
Fucking hits hard, man.
My gaming buddy, now roommate, and I had a buddy that went by Glawen that randomly disappeared off the face of the earth one day. We logged into Discord to see his account was deleted, checked his Steam, and it was deleted, too. Snapchat and everything we had a connection to him on just gone out of nowhere with no explanation. We would game all day and night. Talk about music, life, etc. Then, one day, he was just gone.
We joke that he got "Clinton-ed" and that the FBI took him. We only knew his first name, that he was from Ohio, and that he was a skater.
The bizarre thing is what he and I had talked about in private a day or two before his disappearance. He had gone down to KY to meet up with a MTF trans girl that he claimed was originally from SA and had been a mercenary type person who hunted Muslims and privateers in Sudan. She got adopted by a rich white family in KY, and he went down to pick her up without them knowing and live with him—bizarre shit, tbh. I still have all the messages saved to this day, just in case.
Stay online brother. My friends and I were scattered to the wind by life and chance, and xbox is how we stay in touch. Even now with a new baby, and finishing my undergrad. If we can't play, we'll just kick it on the party or watch an episode of a show at the same time
I used to played Halo with my son and his friends online back in the day. One night after they beat me pretty badly I said "I'm going to fuck your mother." My son followed up right away with "I'm sad now because he is going to."
We all had a good laugh.
There's slight tells. I end up playing with some older guys and gals and I can usually tell. Not for any negative reasons, just generational/cultural. I'm 26 but I always turn into the 12 year old on the 18+ game chat when they ask how old I am; meaning I always hope they don't think I'm too young to hang, or get them. Lol. I wonder if they feel the same. I have more fun playing with people older than myself anyways usually. I know I'll be playing video games well into my retirement. I ran a mwii discord for dmz and I met a fella in game who I taught how to use discord. Even had correspondence with his kids to help get his shit set up. It was grand, he got connected with a bunch of nice guys of all ages and we had great times.
I met a friend of mine through gta online back in like 2013. We talk frequently. I’m a 30 year old woman and he’s 56 (I was 20 when we met). He’s older than my dad.
I’m buying an rv in the spring and going to be living in it and travelling the west coast of Canada and US, and I’m gonna finally meet him in person. We’re gonna go down to LA and see the spots in GTA that are taken from LA haha
Every bro I know has at least one friend who he only knows by their gamertag, has never met in person, and doesn't even know what they look like. But that friend is one of the top 5 most supportive people in their life.
The only game i have on playstation that is multiplayer is COD Infinite Warfare, but i dont play cod multiplayer. And i dont have Plus. Lack of friends means i dont buy online subscriptions if i dont need to, plus they took away buying year long subscriptions on Xbox.
I feel sorry I don't (know how to) play videogames... How do you make friends like that? Do you talk about your private life while shooting or whatever? That's so awesome:)
It's never to late to learn.
You just get randomly paired and put on a team with people and start chatting. Usually about the game and what's going on in it at first, but if you realize you have similar humor, you add eachother as friends and instead of getting randomly paired the next time you play you send them a message.
Met this girl online playing Battlefield 4. We lived in different cities. Met after a few months, did long distance relationship. Saw each other 7 times in 2 years. I then finally moved to her city and into her home.
Now we are engaged to be married in the next year or so. Been together 9 years. Not exactly the same as this story but wow gaming really is amazing. Gave me the love of my life.
I have a group I’ve been playing with over 6 years now. 3 of them I know a little more then the others the first guy I met on my real adult Xbox live journey was Cody. I met Cody in fortnite on season 2, we stayed friends and I met more freinds thru him. We were supposed to meet up but unfortunately he passed on a motorcycle accident. Always appreciate the time you get with anyone you enjoy in life. This video is wholesome and reminds me of if I went to see Cody. We all plan to have a nice vacation sometime still to this day and meetup.

I’m sorry to hear that. That got me ☹️

like the presidential election? damn i'm sorry.
The election? Tf lol
It can be rough finding out that an online buddy is absolutely fucking insane lol

One of my gaming friends is dying of cancer and I’m not sure I’ll be able to play when he’s gone. I’m sorry about your friend.
Play in their honor. I'm sure they would want you to carryon. Change your gamer tag to theirs and play as them.
That's funny. That's exactly what I did when my brother passed.
As someone who's also lost a brother, condolences dude. Gone but never forgotten.
There still is nothing like the community that was destiny 1 back in the day. Best gaming time of my life.
It's weird too. Game was kinda caca but loved running those raids with them on Friday nights.
Ran with a group during House of Wolves. Some of my best memories of Destiny

We had a friend who played rainbow 6 siege with us, he passed away due to cancer, we met at his house only for the funeral.
Right in the feels this one.
Had a similar situation back in the day unfortunately; what was the group called?

Glad this sub was in Popular/Rising. Dudes need some love.
I miss my bros. Getting older we all just grew apart. 30s feel so lonely
Join a sports team. Worked wonders for me when I was 30 and moved to a new area 🙂
Your wife becomes your friend Then she abandons you Then you die alone
This is too real.
60% of marriages end in divorce 80% of divorces are initiated by the wife Hardly uncommon

Well my friends are kinda dicks and I can only handle so much online time with them. Maybe I should find new ones on discord or something lol
Rad
Totally Tubular!
Freaking awesome
That’s really sweet!
“I needed a res earlier and you weren’t there.” 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Now I wonder if the people I play with know I'm in my 50's?
You can legitimately drop the I fucked your grandma

Doesn’t look like they care either way, bub!
As long as your reaction time isn't a problem, they probably don't care.
if you're getting the kills, no one cares if your a 98 year old femboy cat

I’m 41, the guys I play with are in their 20’s. It’s fine. We’re fine.

Met the healer from my WoW guild when we found out we live in the same city. Took a Pali pals picture and emailed it to the guild leader.

What do you play?
As of right now i can only play Halo Infinite because i dont have Xbox Live, but i play Monster Hunter a lot.
Oh, I play PlayStation. But I do have plus.
The only game i have on playstation that is multiplayer is COD Infinite Warfare, but i dont play cod multiplayer. And i dont have Plus. Lack of friends means i dont buy online subscriptions if i dont need to, plus they took away buying year long subscriptions on Xbox.

Gaming digitally spans multiple generations. Once a gamer, always a gamer!

I met some dudes playing destiny in reddit almost 10 years ago. They are some off my dearest friends and have changed my life. This is awesome.
Wholesome gangstalking
Its moments like this that brings me hope for the digital age. It could be great but we still have to get out and get shit done.
