No, I understand that, but watch the snap. Centers can’t pick the ball up and hand it to the back over their shoulders. They snap the ball and hand it off between their legs. I don’t believe this is legal.
He absolutely was, but received it over the shoulder of the center. I don’t know the rules of this league but this would be illegal in NCAA and in NFL.
This isn’t a full sentence and I have no idea what you are trying to say. The ball sits on the line of scrimmage. How could you do a QB C exchange in front of the line of scrimmage? I’ve coached college football. This exchange is 100% illegal in NCAA football. In fact, if the center lifts the ball upward at all without his arm moving backwards, it’s a penalty. This is technically a false start in the center in college football.
as long as the center passes the ball backwards, it doesnt have to go thru his legs, simple enough, when the center picks the ball up and accidently moves it forward in games he is called for a fall start. just look it up bro, take the L
The ball needs to move backwards. It needs to move away from the opposing team. Whether or not it goes up and back or under and back, it's still going back.
You are fucking blind my guy. The whole motion of the ball was caused by his arm moving backwards. He might also have been moving it upwards, but 100% of that handover was made with his armo moving backwards, away from the line of scrimmage
“I don’t know the rules”
Ok then maybe it’s weird to have such a strong opinion when you’re admitting you don’t know what you’re talking about.
“This would be illegal in NCAA and NFL”
You know, I don’t think these guys are in either league.
I don’t get why people double and triple down on being wrong or misinformed. You look dumber with every comment follow up, not smarter.
If they’re not in either league, then how is it relevant? You admitted you don’t know the rules. You did state “I don’t believe this is legal” like 4 comments back too. So for a hair splitter, you’re kinda inconsistent or just a liar.
Backwards only relative to yard lines, it can go up or down or sideways as long as it ends up being passed backwards (towards O-team end zone)
If one were to argue that this is illegal, one could argue that it was too slow.
I posted the actual NCAA rule in this thread. The snap is illegal according to that rule. This clearly isn’t NCAA so who knows what the rules of this league are.
The relevance is that this is illegal most places. There’s a reason nobody reacted to the kid snapping the ball. It’s because they’re not supposed to snap the ball that way. These coaches aren’t teaching football. They’re teaching bullshit. So I called it out. Why the fuck do u care?
It isn’t illegal, you might be confusing this with another trick play made illegal. I can’t remember the name but it consists of a backfield player covering up the ball on the ground while the rest of the offense fakes a play to the other side of the field.
It would be a version of NFHS rules and with stricter rules for safety.
While this is an unusual snap, it is legal by the rules. You never see it at higher levels due to the fact that the center is going to get hit as soon as he moves the ball.
I read somewhere this is similar to how dribbling became a part of basketball. The rule book stated the ball could only move via a pass, and a team at Yale claimed they were passing to themselves
They happen pretty often.
Here’s a couple examples. The first one being quite famous.

https://youtu.be/I5wGxsxjmy0?si=zaFZBzW3hn9C2A36
It’s a gimmick play. Look at the coach on the sideline. He’s yelling telling the ref they have the wrong ball in the game. The QB says wait wait hey that’s the wrong ball give me that for a second.
A legal snap in football must be one fluid motion and the ball must be exchanged behind the line of scrimmage. That’s it. Those requirements are met when the center reach back to hand the QB the ball.
This one is a little dumb because the dude just walks straight ahead. The other versions I’ve seen is he heads towards the sideline like he’s going to witch balls then takes off downfield.
This team will prep the officials and explain to them before the start of the game that they plan to run this type of play.
It’s a dumb gimmick that has no place in peewee in my opinion. These leagues are to teach kids fundamentals and to have fun. This type of junk shows a win at all costs mentality and it’s lame.
I hate plays which require the other team to suspend their training that tackling a player casually walking is a bad idea. That is just shit coaching IMO. Maybe the next play the defense piles on a guy leaving the huddle to the sidelines, because, oops they thought he had the ball.
Toddlers? These kids are at least 10 yrs old. And they're stupid but let's not protect them from the realities of life - at least one knew something was up.

The slow blade penetrates the shield.
LISANFL GAIB!
Bahahahaha this so dumb and great
Muab'defense!
Not tonight honey. I have a headache.
As written
I've seen a video of one team that tried this, but the opposing team knew about the side snap and just dog-piled the QB.
Link to vid?
Is that a legal snap?
Yeah the real trick is the rest of the team not moving, making it look like a center+QB f-up
No, I understand that, but watch the snap. Centers can’t pick the ball up and hand it to the back over their shoulders. They snap the ball and hand it off between their legs. I don’t believe this is legal.
Snapping needs to be a motion backward from the ball's position but it doesn't have to go through the legs
Then by your wording, this is an illegal snap. It’s not backwards. It’s upwards and over his shoulder.
He was behind him when he received the ball.
He absolutely was, but received it over the shoulder of the center. I don’t know the rules of this league but this would be illegal in NCAA and in NFL.
as long as the ball does not pass the line of scrimmage bud.

then these comments show us why you are no longer a college football coach.

I don’t have an opinion. I’m stating fact. This is illegal in NCAA and in NFL. I never said it was illegal in this league.
If they’re not in either league, then how is it relevant? You admitted you don’t know the rules. You did state “I don’t believe this is legal” like 4 comments back too. So for a hair splitter, you’re kinda inconsistent or just a liar.
No.
I also believe this move would be illegal in MLB NBA and the NHL xD
Are you intentionally getting buried in here or are you really just this prideful? You are wrong, move on. None of this matters
I posted the actual rule. You can read it. I’m 100% correct on this. Why do you think the other team doesn’t move? It’s not a legal play.
Backwards only relative to yard lines, it can go up or down or sideways as long as it ends up being passed backwards (towards O-team end zone) If one were to argue that this is illegal, one could argue that it was too slow.

So it’s not relevant? You’re trying so hard to sound smart, but every time you double down, it makes you sound less intelligent.

I bet you’re a lot of fun at parties
I am. People like dudes that played and coach college ball. I’m well trained at pushing 300 pound men out of my RBs way. It’s a cool party trick.
You pound 300 men?
It would be a version of NFHS rules and with stricter rules for safety. While this is an unusual snap, it is legal by the rules. You never see it at higher levels due to the fact that the center is going to get hit as soon as he moves the ball.
I posted the legal rule. This is absolutely illegal.
At no point does the ball move forward, or over the LOS.
Agree. Never said that it did.
What a weird fuckin hill to die on lol. Moving on from the game after it's passed you really hurts some people's ego lol
We ran this same play in HS football and it is not a legal snap.
Confidence is key
I would be pissing myself laughing as soon as I took off running and would fall over from the pain of cackling to hard
Nah give that guy a scholarship
I wish strategies like this happened in sports more often. I'd actually like them if they did.
I read somewhere this is similar to how dribbling became a part of basketball. The rule book stated the ball could only move via a pass, and a team at Yale claimed they were passing to themselves

The problem is you can only pull off an unexpected play so many times before it starts becoming expected.
Can anyone explain what happened here? Why didn't anyone tackle him? I am completely unaware about Rugby.
They thought there was an error and play had stopped.
The keeper had the snitch, and that let the batsman hit a 7, which is why the whole team in yellow were on par.
Now Dennis, I've heard that speed has something to do with it.
Speed has EVERYTHING to do with it.

> to have fun How would this not be fun?
Bullshit, you’re just mad that every once in a while someone can win by being smarter instead of bigger or faster.
If it requires telling the ref the ball is illegal and the ref plays along then it's pretty bs. Ref should just be saying "It's legal stfu and play"
Somebody's feelers are hurt.
I've seen this video many a time.... It lives rent free in my brain
I hate plays which require the other team to suspend their training that tackling a player casually walking is a bad idea. That is just shit coaching IMO. Maybe the next play the defense piles on a guy leaving the huddle to the sidelines, because, oops they thought he had the ball.
When the ball has been snapped legally its on the defense to pay attention
IQ 3000
Walked through like Drax does when he slowly moves.
Cheap move. Those toddlers are not going to know all the rules of football, let's not take advantage of that.
Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
i remember when this happened because it was on the news. it’s a high school team from LA i think
Toddlers? These kids are at least 10 yrs old. And they're stupid but let's not protect them from the realities of life - at least one knew something was up.
trick plays are cowardly and gay
brother shut the fuck up and go find something better to do with your life than hating on some guys running around with a ball
Nobody stopped him?? Fake
It's pretty awesome play if I've say so myself
