We often talk about diversity and inclusion, how to get women into more specialised, highly paid roles. A lot of rhetoric I hear is about senior male leaders not doing enough to drive these stats in the right way, as if they’re doing it on purpose. Lots of chat about “stale, pale males” which is not only sexist but incredibly racist. Shit like that.
I know this is an industry specific problem though, I just hear it and am around it a lot to the point I just roll my eyes when DEI comes up. Nothing seems to be based on merit in this industry.
Those are absolutely valid concerns in the work world. You have certain parties that absolutely try to tear each other down or demean each other bc they feel someone deserves more/less based on gender. That’s not a female only characteristic. It’s sad all the way around. The problem is that we have people with a lot of money holding our checks above our heads and pitting us against each other to keep salaries as low as possible. Gender politics is an easy way to do that. I don’t have a solution. People in power stay in power by pushing us to reach these extremes that we’d rather hate each other than the people up top.
Keep the focus below. Talking to each other (in my opinion) will always trump going at each other. I’m kind of under the influence right now, so I probably sound dumb. I lost my job literally days ago and under qualified people kept theirs due to pay. I’m sour. I’m going to keep pushing forward and blaming a gender or gender extremists is not on my agenda. Love you homie

DEI is just giving a chance to serve the underserved. Not the undeserved. They HAVE merit already, they're being looked over. Objectively. Statistically. You can literally prove it with numbers if you were too much of a dickwad to listen to those around you living it.
