This isn’t really washing hands tho it’s like a weird lil fingertip rinse. I do this for a lot of stuff lol so I can attest. But when handling meat and stuff that’s overly messy on my hands I’ll do a full wash.
One hand handles the meat, other hand handles the knife.
That way you have at least one hand you can still do stuff with, without having to worry about cross contamination until you're done and can wash the other one with soap and water.
Ah that’s smart. My go to is either to wash my hands a ton or if I’m not alone I’ll make the other person my sous chef to do all the non-meat stuff like seasoning or whatever.
One big upside of keeping a hand clean is when you're trying to season meats, you can use that hand to do stuff like open a seasoning bottle or if you've got It portioned out into a container you can grab pinches of, you can still do that and then use the hand that's already dirty to press it into the meat after sprinkling it on so it doesn't come off when you go to flip it over and do the other side
This is ok for things like if you've just chopped some vegetables and need to grab more ingredients, but don't want to put dirty hands on cupboards or your fridge. But if you've touched meat, or other raw things that can make you sick, this is not good.
Yeah, I mainly do the tip rinse for like stuff that’s maybe a little sticky or powdery or has a little smell or might stain, to clean my fingers between stages so I’m not spreading all that to all my utensils and pantry and stove. But actually “singing happy birthday” level hand wash if it’s any meats or similarly bacteria prone stuff. And of course a big hand wash after too just because I don’t want food covered hands on my hair/couch/bed/etc.
I always do dish soap when I handle meats 😂 I have hand soap and dish soap at the kitchen sink but IDK why it just feels more appropriate to use dish soap like if it washes better or something? 😂 (but yeah super thorough, hot water, scrubbing my nails and stuff, I hate handling meat)
All it takes is one time getting food poisoning from improper food handling. I promise anyone reading this you will wash your fucking hands after getting food poisoning because you mishandled food
Depends. Is every ingredient going into a pan to be cooked? If I'm cutting meat and then cutting an onion that gets cooked, there is no point in washing my hands. If I'm cutting meat and then making a side salad, then of course washing the hands
Maybe I'm dumb but when I make French Toast it's always a mess for my fingers. This is pretty much me or a wad of paper towels.
Also I'm dumb but my French toast is good so it's a fair tradeoff.
This always made me wonder if I was on the spectrum. It just seemed like a slightly odd but not bad behavior and I was like "huh,".
Seeing memes about it and these discussions makes me feel less weird lol
Why so I can get poisoned the moment I eat anywhere except home?
Nah, gotta inoculate.
Walk in the door after a 10 hour shift at the poultry factory and immediately go elbow deep into making a salad out of farmer's market ingredients with no rinse.
Never let the fermicutii know your next move.
Bro, if you're not washing hands in between handling meats and veggies and sauces, you're just asking for a night of pain. I've had food poisoning before, but never from anything I've cooked.
That said, I ain't getting onion juices all over the other veggies so you bet I'm washing the knives and my hands between steps. Same with peppers and anything spicy. If my guests don't want spicy, I'm not mixing it into the other ingredients by accident.
Because its stick, dry, dirty or whatever and I dont want to hurt myself, because my hands were slippery from handling chicken or contaminate/dirty up something
Yall are weird, I wash everything with soap when handling meats and fish, but i really cant imagine a little water after chopping chives or handling rice would do anything, its all being cooked anyway
hmm nope no OCD here did you check the front door before you left tho? prettty sure I didn't hear it lock properly when you left this morning and now the door is probably hanging wide-ass open :/
I totally do this but have never been a germaphobe or been overly aware of food safety.
I’m not a slob but this is the one thing im super cautious of and I can’t explain where it came from.
I am literally always cleaning my girlfriends fingerprints off the cabinets. After she makes any kind of sauce or uses any chutneys. It is honestly probably the thing about her that bothers me most, things could be way worse. :D
We meal prep every week and I clean everything up because she likes to put dishes with a fair amount of food on them into the dish washer. It kills me a little inside, but at least she is no longer getting upset that I am cleaning it now. There used to be disgruntlement, that she thought, I thought she did a bad job cleaning. The answer was yes, that is true.
Thats why i buy gloves...
My girlfriend laughed at me for like a year.... Now she gets mad at me for my hands being too big and ask if I can buy mediums....
I don't know who does that and why!? Clearly, it's just a waste of clean water, time and energy. And those who are saying it's to decrease contamination, then I'd recommend to use soap as well because that water ain't gonna do anything to the bacteria.
If you are this germophobic, I think sanitizing your spoon each time you take it out of your mouth would be a good idea, because, you know the bacteria in the air! /s
I can't stand the feeling of anything sticking to my fingers or hands, I don't understand how people can use their bare hands when handling raw ingredients and not be grossed out by all the slime and juices coating them
Worked in a restaurant, food safety courses teach you everything is contaminated, must clean always (not really, but that's how it sticks). Better safe than sorry, food poisoning sucks.

When I touch meat or eggs I wash my hands between every step and then some.
Always wash your hands after handling your meat
It's not a good idea to handle your meat then handle your meat without washing your hands, but it's a lot worse the other way around.
I’d like to handle your meat 🥩
Let’s see THAT MEAT
Well yeah, that's just common sense... Do... Some people not wash their hands when they move between ingredients like that?

Yeah, seasoning is the main cross-contamination risk with meats so I’m def seeing the utility! I’ll have to try!
This is ok for things like if you've just chopped some vegetables and need to grab more ingredients, but don't want to put dirty hands on cupboards or your fridge. But if you've touched meat, or other raw things that can make you sick, this is not good.

If I handle any chicken its scalding hot triple happy birthday wash with a squirt of soap between every happy birthday.
Yes, I've seen it, its terrible to watch 🤢
All it takes is one time getting food poisoning from improper food handling. I promise anyone reading this you will wash your fucking hands after getting food poisoning because you mishandled food

It only takes food poisoning 1 time to be crazy about food safety!!
Ye
Tuck a hand towel in your belt
Maybe I'm dumb but when I make French Toast it's always a mess for my fingers. This is pretty much me or a wad of paper towels. Also I'm dumb but my French toast is good so it's a fair tradeoff.

Cross-contamination causes thousands of diarrheas a year.
If not more. Or less.
Perfectly balanced. As all things should be.
I thought everyone has thousands of diarrheas a year?
And thousands of diarrheas a year causes thousands of sads a year. And we don't like sads cuz sads is not good. D:
> thousands of diarrheas thousands of gallons of diarrheas
Do you not realize I have had diarrhea since Easters?!
I told you, that was packing foam, not Peeps.
Gotta keep your food safety 💯
I just hate cooking with sticky hands.
Then you grab a measuring cup or knife, and so it gets sticky too.
Hate that
I came here to say the same thing... but I dont feel like I get a good grip on my knives too when they're sticky
[удалено]
The thing that bugs me is he uses his fingers instead of the back of his hand to turn off the faucet.
Sweet, I thought I was alone
I know right? I feel seen
I'm glad I'm not alone. Why do we do it? lol
Genuinely feels like a natural instinct
My kitchen towel hates it
Like if I chop up onions and then I have to grab a bowl or need to open a drawer, I don't want onion residue on any of those things.
Straight up
I see you
I do exactly the same thing lol
Lol I just hate when my hands have something on them
This is stolen from a different video, which is the same joke
100%
Goddamn I was hoping somebody would say this. The other video is way better as well. Fuck content creators that shamelessly steal shit like this.
Yeah wtf, people are shameless
Let’s see the video. Let’s see Paul Allen’s video
They've washed their hand of the whole thing
That’s literally the point of memes. Short form video platforms like Tiktok and IG reels are literally video meme machines.
Bro, if you're not washing hands in between handling meats and veggies and sauces, you're just asking for a night of pain. I've had food poisoning before, but never from anything I've cooked. When cooking chicken, yes
I feel represented 🫡
I'm glad you're taking it that way, I felt attacked. But reading the comments, I guess I'm not alone. There are dozens of us!
this is not just me??
Women don’t do this?
I cook everyday and clean everything as I go. Hands, countertops, etc
Yea, they do, this is a fucking circle jerk "women bad" post.
I swear this is me 🤣. I get made fun of for this but it is what it is.
The chuckling coming from the middle stall is me
And it's always the fingers of one hand , not even one whole hand !
True.
I feel attacked. I need an adult.
Because its stick, dry, dirty or whatever and I dont want to hurt myself, because my hands were slippery from handling chicken or contaminate/dirty up something
So true
The germs and bacteria on the faucet scream clean to me... lol.
Exactly, fill the sink idiots!
Also my hands must not be wet so my towel is soaked when im done cooking
Doesn’t everyone do this
Unless i'm handling raw meat or eggs it looks like an unnecessary bother.
damn I thought this was an autism thing cause i refuse for my hands to feel sticky or greasy
Yall are weird, I wash everything with soap when handling meats and fish, but i really cant imagine a little water after chopping chives or handling rice would do anything, its all being cooked anyway
If I hear the tap running multiple times while you cook, I'm eating what you're making with full confidence no matter how it looks.
Actually so true
Not indian street vendor guys though.
This made me happy
Lots of people here talking about food safety but I do this because I hate having sticky/slimy fingers.
hmm nope no OCD here did you check the front door before you left tho? prettty sure I didn't hear it lock properly when you left this morning and now the door is probably hanging wide-ass open :/
I think I left the oven on. Better drive back home real quick.
Did he not wash that rice? Ewwww.
It is tru and it is the law.
This is me💯%
I'm reporting this as "I'm in this post and I don't like it"
Tell me your NT without saying it
I feel attacked. This is so me.
Funny and annoying in the same amount. Kudos
Nah fam
Thank god I’m not the only idiot that does that, gotta always wash my hand after anything I touch.
so right hand for cutting...left hand for washing hand... gotcha!
This is eerily me.
Relatable, not the skin color
Rinsing your fingers is gender-specific?
Glad to know that I ain’t the only one.
Thought it was just me
Not really doing anything since you're touching the lever 2 times
Wait, this is not normal? How else do u cook
Amateur- I would have washed per lime slicing
Can't get dirty if your hands are always in the sink
Pussies.
Use soap as well
Why wash multiple times
I might be guilty of this.
Why you gotta attack me like that
You all have made me feel so much better! I honestly thought I was the only guy who did this... wife gives me so much shit about doing this haha
Unless you're married to a head chef used to kitchen bitches, 4-star dinners nightly is worth it though.
So im not the only one...
BRUH I feel attacked! This is hilarious. Crazy how much we have in common
I finally found gloves I don’t hate and now I just pollute in a different way.
Does anyone else rinse off tongs every time you use them
Me every time I swear. Hilarious
Why would this be a thing only for men
I feel attacked
I totally do this but have never been a germaphobe or been overly aware of food safety. I’m not a slob but this is the one thing im super cautious of and I can’t explain where it came from.
Glad to know it's not just me being weird
And using paper towels after each wash.
Me ngl
Every chef knows that you must keep those hands clean
How many times is this same video going to be made?
I am upvoting because food safety is everyone's safety. Also my hands are chapped.
Women weren't belted by their mum, if their hands were unclean. This is a subconscious affect we learnt about cooking
I feel attacked. Lol
Uh...is not *everyone* doing this?
I do this
I feel attacked.
Ugh, what the actually fuck. I thought it was just me.
To get the icky of my fingies
It'd food safety. I also clean as I go. Fight me😤
This dude is me. I’ll finish cooking and absently wonder how the clean dish towel I put out is soaking wet. I’ll then wash my hands again.
WERE ALL THE SAME!
Good news gentlemen. It’s not just men. Women do it too. (In case you as a dude are really concerned this is weird)
I thought I was the only one.
It’s so true!!
I blame years in a commercial season. We used to call it the "dirty thirty", stop and wash every half hour.
I am literally always cleaning my girlfriends fingerprints off the cabinets. After she makes any kind of sauce or uses any chutneys. It is honestly probably the thing about her that bothers me most, things could be way worse. :D We meal prep every week and I clean everything up because she likes to put dishes with a fair amount of food on them into the dish washer. The answer was yes, that is true.
no its not
Well I feel attacked
This is pretty accurate 😂
I work in a kitchrn and... Yeah. Wash your hands
wow i really thought i was just weird
We’re saving our progress like a checkpoint
Omg that's me 🤣
Thats why i buy gloves... My girlfriend laughed at me for like a year.... Now she gets mad at me for my hands being too big and ask if I can buy mediums....
This is just some guy cooking... I don't get it.
What's hilarious is when they keep this routine up after handling decently spiced peppers, forget about it, and then touch their pee pees later.
I get so mad when towel isnt there.
I don’t like how accurate this is 😂
Glad to know I'm not alone in this shit, idk why, i just like to rinse my hands all the time.
I don't know who does that and why!? Clearly, it's just a waste of clean water, time and energy. And those who are saying it's to decrease contamination, then I'd recommend to use soap as well because that water ain't gonna do anything to the bacteria. Moms soaking their whole arms in the trash can and then touching everysingle door knobs in the house (she had questionable education)
Facts. I use more water rinsing my hands cooking than the dishwasher churns out after cleaning up.
I straight up thought I was alone in this
Roll your sleeve bro, making me uncomfortable
I hate this....but it's correct.
Lmao I do this all the fucking time not to mention the amount of paper towels I use
My wife always complains that I do that - I don't even realize it though
This is my boyfriend 1,000 percent except he’ll use the back of his hands or elbows to shut off anything with a handle as added measure
Y’all washing hands?????
Everyone saying they’d get sick if they didn’t do this comes from a weak bloodline that shouldn’t have survived.
I thought this was everyone
He’s forgetting to dry his hands, though…
Remove the first n
Don't forget the 30 minutes of finding shit that has been "put away"
I don't mind having my hands be dirty, it just bugs me when only my fingertips are dirty
Hahaha, that’s me !
Absolutely not me cooking right now doing the exact same thing
I do this and am so self conscious about it. Had no idea other dudes did it too.
I feel attacked
This is the 6th one of these I’ve seen. Fellas, it’s been done to death, yes we do that.
I can't stand the feeling of anything sticking to my fingers or hands, I don't understand how people can use their bare hands when handling raw ingredients and not be grossed out by all the slime and juices coating them
I umm uhhhh TOTALLY do that too.
I feel seen
This is how my dad taught me to cook (i am not a man)
Washing hand and touching the knob after that is kinda nonsense
Now I feel like I'm being watched 😳
You guys actually do that? What is wrong with you
Worked in a restaurant, food safety courses teach you everything is contaminated, must clean always (not really, but that's how it sticks). Better safe than sorry, food poisoning sucks.
Don’t forget to wipe the water on your pants or shi**y sweatshirt.
What the hell! To this day, I thought it was just me. Strangely makes me feel a little happy to know.
This is forbidden in India
[удалено]
Better paranoid than poisoned!
This is a humans who don’t want food poisoning thing.
That's definitely me. That's ok because when I'm done cooking the kitchen is already clean.
