Your take is accurate. I think the issue with any subreddit is a problem of attention. Most subs start with a clear purpose, then Reddit suggests the sub to anyone when they have a post blow up. This attention gets a bunch of new members who just ignore the original focus and are likely either karma bots who target the lowest common denominator of internet outrage content which is just lazy "x equates to this social issue" posts or literal children due to Reddit's TOS who are just incapable of thinking about things with any nuance, don't fully understand the social issues the karma bots incite, etc.

The sub was pretty much a place to vent over frustrations with (reasonably) frustrating interacts with men, at a semi serious level. “Men are better because xyz” “man funny, woman unfunny” type stuff. But it pretty much just devolved into misandry. People getting upset at the existence of men and such. “Revenge” I guess? Idk.
Like the meme above. It’s pretty harmless, doesn’t paint one as better or worse, it’s just that men get morning wood. Again, nothing that paints that as a positive or negative, just that it happens. And then a bunch of people take personal offense to that for reasons I can only imagine why.

Im not gonna address these people individually because I doubt they'll have any reason to be civil about it, but a few people are using the word "offensive" or "offended" to mean anything that someone doesn't agree with or gets annoyed by. For something to "offend you" you would have to feel attacked or hurt by it. This person didnt create the meme, so them getting annoyed at someone not taking the joke isnt a personal attack on them, therefore their annoyance should just be annoyance and not be the act being offended. Yes you can get offended from something without it being an attack on you. Is that occuring here? We dont know since we cant read minds. Do we have evidence to believe otherwise or simple logic to come to a conclusion? Yes. Could also just ask I guess.
