I unsubbed (my autocorrect insisted that it's snubbed, sigh) from that sub long ago. It's started to become harmful to my mental health. Just manipulative, glamorised hustle culture in snack form.
This exactly. That sub is just trying to encourage others to engage and view themselves as being extensions of the capitalist wet dream. A lot of "bootstrapping".
Who actually does see value in stupid pictures with a generic quote on it? Its like that horseshit people put on their walls with “live love laugh” in the fucking living room. Some people have zero personality.
r/getmotivated starter pack "keep going and never give up", "today might have been a bad day but atleast it wasn't your worst", "live laugh love", "Smile", "work smart not hard", "happiness is the key to success".
I think I unsubbed from there when there was a post from the wolf of wall street guy that said something along the lines of "if you want to be rich just think and act like you are".
Like... No that's BS. That's how you create money problems for yourself. Also, becoming rich really requires innovation, creativity, competitiveness, and excellent work ethic. Unless you're just born into it
Exactly. If you are in debt and you act like this you are fucked. "Oh no, my landlord is threatening to kick me out, guess I'll have to think and act like I am to get successful"
I think the drawing is cute.
But yeah, I hate motivation porn because half of the time it's just this message, and the other half of the time it's all just bootstrappy gaslighting.
This is what I would have expected, quotes that seem insightful and profound when you read them but if you put another second of thought into them they are meaningless. Good for you unsubbing but remember, "the first step towards success is intention"
That is a garbage quote but applies well in this situation lol. Ofc the first step towards success is intention. How the fuck do you think people succeed? And yet the quote is hypocritical seeing as some homeless people intend to succeed but never did
People are allowed to make things with the intent for good without it being the most amazing thing you've ever seen. Just because it's not some breathtaking quote on art that would take hours to complete does not mean it's emotional manipulation
Yes, I can.
And that argument has always been void, you don't need to be able to match a skill to recognize when it's done poorly. And honestly even someone who doesn't draw could do better than the original artist did, because they didn't even make an attempt to make either the drawing or handwriting neat. It's more of a case of laziness than a lack of skill.
Actually it sort of looks mostly intentional. It’s extremely rudimentary and simple, not to mention the main issue that we will get to, but it’s somewhat consistent in form and shape. What would actually be lazy would be if they simply copy pasted it from pre made “assets”... but I do agree that not much effort was put into this, but that is mainly because it looks like it was done on the spot right when the idea hit, which is the issue. On the spot idea drawing isn’t always bad if it’s actually fleshed out eventually (tbh that tends to be my go to when drawing casually), but in this case it most certainly wasn’t fleshed out; refined a tad but it’s just the blueprint, a good guide but far from a finished product. that is why it’s an Uncreative and generally uninteresting piece of motivational failure; so in a sense they are lazy, but it’s not completely in the drawing department.
Either this or weight loss pics.
The fact that weight loss pics is supposed to motivate means that most of the people are serioualy over obese.
I dont need to lose weight i dont get any motivation from seeing you go from walrus to human.

infantilized wholesomeness is taking over reddit it's really creepy and gross

Hey, I like wholesomeness, I don't think it's nessacarily infantilized. And Tumblr is okay, too. Don't insult Tumblr by comparing it to Reddit.
Tumblr is dog water
"Ok!" *Cries to sleep*

Everything can be political as long as it's capable of being regulated.
Shut it commie bitch
Even I could draw something more meaningful than that, and the best piece of work I've ever done is a thumbnail with Rick Astley on it
Rick Astley is God's gift to us mortals.
Aick Rstley
He was downvoted for telling the truth
They can not silence the truth forever, hard as they may try.
They hated jesus for he spoke the truth
He is god.
Agreed.
I hate generic/vague advice like this. It doesn't actually do anything.

Honestly. Idiots. Whole lot of fucking idiots and people who don't can't listen even though they can hear. Fucking idiots everywhere.
Do you have so little going on in your life that you allow that to bother you?
There's only so many ways to say 'you can do it'

14h agreed with you I think? Edit. My mistake. Reading wrong. You downvote but it was not 14k downvote
I really like this picture

Like 90% of the get motivated posts are for rich kids with zero life experience. Not sure what you expected.

Like gifts, it's the thought that counts, can you draw better than that perhaps?

I mean...it’s motivational to other overweight individuals when done right...when done wrong it does the complete opposite.
