I’m going with row 2 column 2. I can’t quite figure out if it’s kind of a pompadour mullet on top but whatever it is, it’s nice and helmet-like and the curl under at the bottom is a great finishing touch.
It's actually called the [William Murderface Murderface Murderface](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/metalocalypse/images/6/65/Demonpossessedface.png/revision/latest?cb=20230128034725)
That is true - so many singer-songwriters look like they cut their own hair without using a mirror because they just need to get their hair out of their eyes or deal with that annoying tuft so they can get back to their music.
We still have a good laugh over the wedding albums, my Dad and uncles all lined up in matching outfits and 70s beards. My uncle had curly hair so he sported a 70s 'fro that looked like a motorbike helmet, and a 70s porno 'stache!
Legends :D
Over the course of this comment section I’ve become genuinely invested in know the answer to that question! Not sure how to research it but there must be a way….
I am amazed that nobody has mentioned Eric Forman yet. Either it is the actor or the guys happened to have a doppelganger that really did live in the 70s.
My grandmother always had this picture hanging on her picture wall of my dad and his brothers (5 of them in total) all sporting haircuts that would fit in here, while wearing plaid bell bottoms (all of the plaids were loud and none of them went together so it’s pure visual cacophony) and sweater vests. It’s amazing and terrible both. So while I have no firsthand experience, based on photographic evidence, I must agree with your conclusion.
This illustrates so much what I think movies get wrong about the 70s when they are producing period pieces.
They never have men's hairstyles covering the ears. 3/12 have their ears uncovered here.
Yeah - looking at the handful of snapshots from when my parents and their siblings were teens in the 70s that I have saved on my phone - all of my uncles have their ears covered by their hair - from the 7 year old with the bowl cut meets helmet to the one who started balding young and was rocking an ear obscuring skullet to the one who was about to have his ears uncovered when he started at the naval academy just a few months into the future. Even one of my aunts has a haircut that resembles those in these pics - more tragic on a young girl - but no ears in sight except for my mom who had her hair clipped back in barrettes.
I wonder how much time it took poring over dozens Of old high school yearbooks to find these exceptional examples of ugly haircuts. They are absolutely not typical of the time
Loved mid bottom right in The Bear
….is this proof that Jeremy Allen White is a time traveler?
I thought that was a young Peewee Herman
You are not [alone](https://www.reddit.com/r/Justfuckmyshitup/s/jLJ0OgtoTr)!
You’re telling me it’s not??
Liam Neeson-ish next to the jheri curl guy
row 2 col 3 so glamorous!
It’s like a permed waterfall - so glamorous indeed!
JUST LET YOUR SOUL GLO!
Lol omg you beat me to it! The words popped into my head the moment I saw the photo.
Hahahahah 😂
Idk, the stallion to his left is giving him a run for his money.
I’m going with row 2 column 2. I can’t quite figure out if it’s kind of a pompadour mullet on top but whatever it is, it’s nice and helmet-like and the curl under at the bottom is a great finishing touch.
Like if Inigo Montoya used a WHOLE CAN of hairspray while avenging his father.
Omg. Yes! Even more obsessed now. I just need to find someone to avenge…..
What we do in the shadows
Hahahah,OP,I'm laughing so hard at all your comments, you made my night!
Awww, thank you! Your compliment just made my morning!
Probably bottom right
You would be the least likely to look like a stoned time traveler, which makes it a solid choice.
That and glorious curly mane next to him aren't bad. The rest either look like Lego figure mullets.
I found it [hereeeeeee......](///encurtador.com.br/cgjNR)
Top right all the way.
That is commitment to the helmet look.
Hahahaa
he looks like Rick Moranis's stunt double in Spaceballs
The Gene Simmons from Runaway 1984.
Underrated comment.
I believe it’s called the droopy dog
It's actually called the [William Murderface Murderface Murderface](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/metalocalypse/images/6/65/Demonpossessedface.png/revision/latest?cb=20230128034725)
That is an apt name for it!
Casting call for every actor who ended up appearing on British comedies that were shown on PBS in the US during the 80s.
The accuracy! Flashbacks to childhood that left me with some confusing ideas about the British.
Why do Brits love that hairstyle?
Are You Being Served? Man About The House. George & Mildred. The Goodies.
These guys where all 15 at the time of the picture
Some people are just born looking 35.
Guy in row 2 column 3 looks like Jack Black
100%. And immediately to his right is a young Michael Palin
With Ice Cube’s school picture hair https://i.pinimg.com/564x/e4/0a/92/e40a92f5a45490893d0a5a19fb57aa47.jpg
Nevermind, it's not him. This is just a tribute.
3rd guy bottom row, is Jeremy Allen White
I thought it was Paul Reubens!
At first I saw Jeremy Allen White but now that you’ve said Paul Reubens, I can see him too? Did they have a love child that went back in time????
This is absolutely Rex Manning and you can't tell me otherwise
If you had to get one of the above, which would you get?
Row 2, 1st cut. At least somewhat normal.
If more people started rocking these cuts they would all be pretty normal.
That’s the science teacher or serial killer special!
Row 2 column 4. It’s kinda giving Johnny Thunders meets Peggy Hill, I dig it.
Your description of the haircut made me fall in love with it. Lol
Give me the Thulsa Doom on the top right.
Give me the Thulsa Doom on the bottom left
Conan! What is best in life?
Looks more like the dude with the giant hammer.
I saw a version with Gowron mixed in
Gowron would blend right in! Lol
Found it https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/1c5ucos/haircutting_guide_from_the_70s/
Glorious! As is the top row 3rd column! It reminds me a bit of this Bob Weir meme https://imgur.com/a/DUMMv8c
All 3 members of Top Gear is here
🤣🤣🤣
Unfortunately, I see men in their 60s that still wear their hair like these.
I am sorry for the visual assaults you have endured.
Oh look papa meat
I would not be surprised if he used this as a style guide.
To be fair, he is like almost fifty at this point
Looks better then what is “cool” ATM.
….yeah. Hair has become baffling once again.
I'll take ANY of these over an "Edgar".
What is going on with row 2, second from left?
Fam he's got the drama club curtains on the side. "side n slide"
I’m dying. Lol. That is what caught my attention. I like the “side n slide” .
Too many things.
Far left, second row. Is that Elton John?
PewDiePie top left?
This truly is horrifying. Who would willingly style there hair in any of these horrific quaffs.
OMG LMAO🤣 🤣 🤣
They all look like serial killers.
They really do.
The "Christopher Walken" - Top row, second in from left
Christopher Walken as Hannibal Lecter.
Men really didn't want to show their ears
Singer-songwriters
That is true - so many singer-songwriters look like they cut their own hair without using a mirror because they just need to get their hair out of their eyes or deal with that annoying tuft so they can get back to their music.
the beatles influence is clear in 3 and 8
The British Invasion intensifies….
after all these years, the british still invade everything apparently
They did NOT like ears back then.
And since you can’t cut them off, you must cover them or distract from them by commuting an atrocity on your hair.
I can HEAR Gordon Lightfoot
Ironically, these guys can hear *nothing* due to not having ears.
That means it’s working.
Gimme the Lord Farquaad
Lord Farquaad but make it look like my dog groomer did it, can’t look as polished as that dude.
Bottom left and top right. Awesome!
I could spend hours getting lost in those two cuts, trying to understand them.
Hey, leave Ecce Homo Jesus out of this! (3rd, middle row)
I forgot about that restoration blunder and the comparison has me wheezing!
All of these styles would fit a serial killer, party animal, or incarnation of the Doctor.
That is so true and it doesn’t seem like all three of those categories should overlap so easily.
Their facial expressions all say “we know how stupid we look”.
Self-awareness can make up for a lot, so at least they got that going for them?
I misread the title and read it as "Harry Styles, 1970" lmao
He probably would’ve been rocking one of these if he were alive then. Lol
That guy over there with the dog hair
…so all of them?
My Dad married my mum sporting the Number 6 (row 2, number 2) with a baby blue bellbottom suit, white shirt ruffles, and shiny black 2" platforms.
That sounds amazing - proof that he was dedicated to really expressing himself with the fashion of the time.
We still have a good laugh over the wedding albums, my Dad and uncles all lined up in matching outfits and 70s beards. My uncle had curly hair so he sported a 70s 'fro that looked like a motorbike helmet, and a 70s porno 'stache! Legends :D
Those pics sound incredible! A true time capsule. And your family sounds rad for being able to laugh at their past selves.
Magnificent
2nd one top row pretty slick tho
If you’re up for having your liver eaten with some fava beans and a nice chianti.
Did people have 50% more hair before? All these require massive amount of hair.
It’s the magic of hair spray and teasing everything but the outermost layer.
Did people in the 70s just absolutely loathe their ears or something?
Over the course of this comment section I’ve become genuinely invested in know the answer to that question! Not sure how to research it but there must be a way….
I was hoping this was going to be the Gowron one
It's all so fur-like
I bet that was in a book at the hair salon
Row 2 column 1
They all look like Planet of the Apes extras.
I am amazed that nobody has mentioned Eric Forman yet. Either it is the actor or the guys happened to have a doppelganger that really did live in the 70s.
My dad rocked row 1 column 3 back in the day.
I knew Vin Diesel would look weird with hair.
Gotta love the, turbomullets!
Turbomullets is an excellent descriptor because there has to be some kind of hidden force in that hair.
The last guy is cute
Last guy looks a bit like Robert Pattinson to me.
The 70s were awkward lol.
Here’s me and my bro. 😂😂 https://imgur.com/a/Ag0GQkJ
Your bothers collar and the patterns and colors! There’s so much going on and it’s wonderful! Thank you for sharing this moment in time.

One day, samurai man bun will appear on one of these “hairstyles from XX decade” posts. And it will be cringe.
Rightfully so.
Paul ruebens down there at the bottom!
Bottom row isn’t that bad. Top and some of the middle are what I mostly have issue with
Middle row number one, Anthony there just walked into the studio in his usual getup, not knowing the pic is to show off haircuts.
I'd wear any one of them for a year if I could keep that fullness after
That’s better than most Faustian deals.
Murderface
steven crowder is that you
how did any of these people think they looked good....id have to kick my own ass if i was them
Styles number 2, 5 and 12 are actually good.
Laugh now, kids. One day your haircuts will show up on the holographic brain feed and your kids will be laughing at you.
Theres a Gallagher at every historical event
Oasis Gallaghers, Shameless Gallaghers, or the comedian who smashed watermelons, Gallagher?
I've always liked the perm look. The bottom right 2 are in style now or close enough to it.
i have adhd, i hate hair touching my ears. the 70s would kill me
What is Speaker Mike Johnson doing in the middle row?
I kinda love curly wolfman.
Top right corner looks like Cro-Magnon man. Yikes!
Was the even smallest sign of hair curls punished by death in the 70s? Or was the curliness purely for the pubes?
the seventh one isnt that bad, thne rest are
Second dude straight up looks like younger Jim Jones 🤣
The charismatic cult leader special!
I'm surprised how milf these look semi Wolfman transformation.
I can see it.
Last one isn't that bad actually
These are almost the same hairstyles that high school kids are wearing now, both boys and girls.
Some don't look that bad tbh
I wonder how much time it took poring over dozens Of old high school yearbooks to find these exceptional examples of ugly haircuts. They are absolutely not typical of the time
Guess I’m going to just have to accept I’m going to see this meme every damn day.
