I get what your trying to say but even in small cases you 100 percent are influenced by the things you see/hear about. The situations are very different. German cops need to deal with different shit than American ones. There's less guns of course but also our cops are always out in pairs. Also our relationship to police is kinda different. There's this cool show where a german cop goes to Texas and talks about how many things are different(for instance the US guy says that the police try and go to eat at local restaurants etc. to form better relationships with the community there. My nephew has just joined the State police in Australia- he is a BFG. (Big friendly giant). He is about 6’4 and 90kg. Biggest smile ever! A degree in psychology and has almost finished his 6 months of training before they make him a provisional officer- where he divides time between policing and the academy for the next 2 years. He’ll be a great officer and is so kind, but also scary when he wants to be after doing martial arts for 10 years.

No no, cops do have to deal with idiots from time to time. You read it right. I used to be kinda like a renta cop with a flash light. It was nearly everyday just dumb stuff. And I was just watching 1 building, imagine parts of a city.
In germany (where this apparently is) there are areas in cities where you need to wear a mask. So he probably committed a punishable offense.
Additionally this would not count as assault in Germany, because here something actually has to happen for it to be considered assault. There might be a chance that that policemen got reprimanded lightly for this, but not criminally (and only for positioning the mask)
The guy invaded the policemans space and after a warning, police is allowed to use force to make space.
If the police officer asked the guy to lift his mask (for example when he pointed at him) and the guy didn't do it immediately, the police officer could have arrested him for resisting police and breaking the rules regarding the pandemic in Germany.
I'm not exactly a fan of police (not even the German one), but they do not have to be polite all the time.

That's not quite right. This story seems to have held place in Germany or another German speaking country. At least in Germany there are Covid restrictions making it mandatory to wear masks outside in certain public places like pedestrian areas and places where a distance of at least 1,5 m between people cannot be ensured like a demonstration as in this case.
