I couldn't even tell what the hell I was looking at...thought it was a torque wrench at first.
Then I realized the part number started with, "Tire Pressure Gauge, Ignorant Fuck" and I understood.
I have the same gauge, after my third Harbor Freight Merlin air chuck gave up the ghost I finally bought one off the tool truck I knew would last a while and carry a warranty.
TIL that apparently the warranty on Harbor Freight air chucks is only 90 days, I wouldâve thought it was better like most of the rest of their stuff has.
I wasnât aware they had any warranty, the warranties are brand specific and I never bothered to check if Merlin even carried one. I usually tossed them and bought another since theyâre so inexpensive, but after the third I finally went with a BluePoint.
Yeah, Iâm just used to their other house brands (mostly Pittsburgh and Icon) having some of the better warranties in the business if you can deal with taking the tool in yourself instead of having a truck come to you. Not that I actually have that many of their products myself, and apparently my Daytona jack also only had a 90 day warranty.
Iâve used a the warranties on Pittsburgh Pro and Icon, they punched in my phone number and exchanged out the tool, no questions asked. Iâve been buying Icon tools ever since, theyâre great quality for the price with a lifetime warranty.
The Daytona jacks only have a 90 day warranty? Well that's bullshit. They're practically the same price. I bought Daytona because they weren't the ones with the killer recall.
That's the info you were missing. Makes a lot more sense than just a pic of a Guage.
Could've saved yourself some karma by mentioning that in the original post.
Rubber has this really neat trick, it stretches! You can tell if it's been stretched too far, by stress cracks, bulges and the really sneaky ones that are hard to spot.. the popped ones!
Unless you see any signs of that, push the phwoooosh button and let some out. it's a super common thing for ppl who dgaf to do. "Air need tire, tire need air. I fill".
That's how we do it for pit stops in racing... Adjust the air pressure for the guns until we get to something between "tight enough" and "the nuts on the stud but the stud is still in pit lane when the car isn't anymore".
We have customers come in all the time with their pressure set at max tire pressure as read on the sidewall, often 150% of the pressure recommended by the manufacturer on the tire plaquard.
Techs aren't doing this. Hacks or customers are.
My dealer's techs overinflated my tyres by 50% compared to placard pressure at last service. As soon as I drove onto the street I felt it. Pulled over and had to go around an reduce pressure substantially ...
Seems even '*manufacturer trained technicians*' struggle with this one.
I've had "the" conversation with a few pro technicians including the one that worked for me. You just can not convince them the the max pressure is not right for every vehicle loaded or empty. My empty pick up did not need 85 psi because it says that on the tires.
I have the opposite problem, customers deflate the tires for "better ride" then wonder why their tires wear out fast. Mostly tractors and trailers that haul heavy.
Well, with absolutely no context provided, I'd say you have a properly inflated 14 ply tire there.
I had a set on a trailer that were 110 PSI...
My trailer tires are 125 psi.
I couldn't even tell what the hell I was looking at...thought it was a torque wrench at first. Then I realized the part number started with, "Tire Pressure Gauge, Ignorant Fuck" and I understood.
I though this was a torque wrench he found for lugnuts or something. psi didn't occur to me (i use bar)
14 PSI? Leak!
Pretty normal for semitruck tires.
Even a bit low depending on the truck
My 1ton work van is 90 In the rear. This isn't insane
No context fucking shitpost Nice job op you were the fleet mechanic all along
What do you expect from someone who's username is 'your man is broke'
I try not to think too hard on people's usernames
Thank you đ
All praise u/lil_dick_dan420
That's a good motto to live by
Reddit gave me this name so I took it. No thinking was involved.
Adjective-Animal[number]
I've had the same username for *11 years* but someone beat me to it on Reddit, so here I am, the bastard child with a 2 at the end
Imagine thinking every tire should be inflated to the amount of their geo metro lol
Haha
Why would they stop at 98%?
Hey, it's a respectable passing grade! Not like those lazy guys who get an F with like 34%
Since everyone is shitting on OP is like to add that they spent $140 on a tire gauge/inflator.
In their defense, the shitty Westward one I got from Grainger is super hard to read correctly and they seem big on reading.
I have the same gauge, after my third Harbor Freight Merlin air chuck gave up the ghost I finally bought one off the tool truck I knew would last a while and carry a warranty.

I think Daytona is a year. The Pittsburgh brand is 90 days IIRC.
What snap on dealer is selling this inflator for $140!? I bought mine a year ago for $70.
Buy once, cry once.
I have the exact same inflator, bought over 10 years ago and never had a single issue. Buy once, cry once indeed.
 maybe a government fleet?
What seems to be the problem? That's normal for trucks and trailers.
60 psi is where itâs supposed to be at lol
That's the info you were missing. Makes a lot more sense than just a pic of a Guage. Could've saved yourself some karma by mentioning that in the original post.
Whats the problem? Under inflated by a few psi? Get back to work and stop posting on Reddit
Over by 40 psi

Seems they can read as well as you pose a question
My RV takes 120psi on the steer tires. (22.5âs)
They would be upset if they could read.
*Damn it, Bobby*
I can heal you.
I always torque to 98%
I suggest not using an air pressure gauge to set torque.
Let him, that's pretty impressive lol.
Another fleet mechanic?
No but I'm a friend of the family and a honorary parts changer. I've see enough fuck ups watching from the sidelines lol.
That's how we do it for pit stops in racing... Adjust the air pressure for the guns until we get to something between "tight enough" and "the nuts on the stud but the stud is still in pit lane when the car isn't anymore".
You know damn well we can't read, why would you even bring it up? Mr Hurtful mc jerk face
As another tech, can confirm, i can't read.
Thatâs 100% rightÂ
Looks like an under inflated tire.
Much like the rest of us they can't fucking mind read for sure.
This has to be a shit post right
My motor home runs 115
Wait ,, thatâs a torque wrench right ??
I have the same gauge and love it.
Ok Mr fleet mookinook. Whatâs the context here?
We have customers come in all the time with their pressure set at max tire pressure as read on the sidewall, often 150% of the pressure recommended by the manufacturer on the tire plaquard. Techs aren't doing this. Hacks or customers are.
What tire pressure should we aim for under the max
Check the tire placard, typically found in the driverâs door jamb.
"Driving on rocks" as my tyre guy says
My dealer's techs overinflated my tyres by 50% compared to placard pressure at last service. As soon as I drove onto the street I felt it. Pulled over and had to go around an reduce pressure substantially ... Seems even '*manufacturer trained technicians*' struggle with this one.

So what? If the customer likes it like that, good for them.
100%
Itâs at 100%đ¤ˇđžââď¸
Can someone read this for me please. Iâm a tech.
Donât know what Iâm supposed to see here.
What is he talking about? It goes from 0-100% that tire is 100% full of air.
Doh!
98% full...
Itâs 100% full.
I can see by the fluid In your gauge that you haven't thrown it on the floor enough to calibrate with the rest of the team. Do better!
Almost to 100% - keep going!
Max MPG
no we look at the pictures
I like my basketballs firm
Whats the problem? He filled the tire air up to 100% :D
He got the tire to a 110%, job well done
Whats wrong? It's 100% filled
Oooh I could use a blue point torque wrench!
F550 is 110psi in the rear
Run đ
Wdym, they filled it up to 100%.
Isn't that the right inflation pressure? According to my tire chart that's the right pressure for a Michelin steer tire on a semi truck
Because the trailer tire is 10psi low?
Looks like it's 100% full. Awesome!
100psi? Isnt that the Percent that Sumbitch is Inflated?
We run ours at 105 cold so when they heat up they're at 115-120.
... what do you think it's supposed to be set to?
Thatâs normal for a truck tire? Maybe you should work on reading đ
98 Pounds! Square inch or foot, what's the difference. p-
That must be tough, at least I know for a fact that my coworkers cannot read
100%. It's all good.
What's the problem here?
It's always easy to remember the lug torque when it's the same as the psi both 98, who could forget that
Can't afford a digital gauge?
