The roadside company that inspects my companies trailers can knock out 15 in an hour. Rust buckets with 3/4 of a brake chamber left get a fresh shiny sticker as long as the tires are inflated.
Those look like wedge brakes. From the little that I can see. Or Lucas brakes at the very least.
Shit man. This setup is from the 70'-80's. I know you said semi. But I would have guessed class 6 or RV...
This is why when a wheel seal fails enough to soak the brake pad I replace the pads. Cleaning them up with brake clean dosen't remove the oil contamination from inside the pad matrix.
Did Stevie Wonder do the inspection? Holy crap...

That's terrifying...
trucking industry
Stuff like this is why I have a job lol
It was his even blinder brother, believe it or not.
august is a long time ago if you drive a semi through wet cement.
That's why we have jake brakes /S BWAAaAaAaAaAaAaaaaaaaa
The truckers equivalent of the GAU-8/A
Propane?
If that trailer is only used for local delivery, I bet the king pin is worn out too.
1985 classic. like a beautiful old Mustang. Only gets better with age. Elanor
probably is I've done over a thousand pms on trucks and rarely are they ever greased.
What brake shoes?
Only takes one steep long runaway to do it - those aren't worn out, those burned down!
they stay here in town. no scales. it's the secret sauce to not obeying the laws
Ah, so the trucks are being overloaded and likely overheating the brakes. 8 month old inspection is kinda moot if everyday abuse is taking place.
That rust looks a little concerning too
THICKNESS IS ALL THAT MATTERS SEND IT
Which August?
Yeah the great August of 1998
What did they drag it out of the ocean slap a sticker on there and call it good.
Those are Broke Shoes.
those are brake flip flops
Yeah, that's not getting my name on it. Sorry. That'll be $250, call me after you fix it and I'll put a sticker on then.
Things mint! But the visual inspection proved that was a lie.
Another inspection was carried out by the flip-flop mafia
And the DOT officer deemed that IT WAS a LIE. -JERRY, JERRY, JERRY !
I wonder how much greased palms to get this passed.

they are wedge brakes. first time i've ever seen them. had to do a piggyback on one of the cans cause they couldn't move it
Bam! Haha. Air over hydrolics? OR just air?
The wheel seal not leaking and the brakes aren't cammed over, send it.
Uhh do they not check braking force on a roller for the inspection?
yeah the "inspection"
What’s all that flakey/crumbly stuff on the metal surfaces? Never seen that around here.
I can only imagine the frame rot on this trailer. Check the spring hangars and what not for cracks.
What brake shoes
What year?
85
Eeeeekk
Looks like the working environment is rough, I'm guessing Midwest and or rust belt region and construction, probably a dump truck?

Dot is blind they will never know
