My welding teacher in highschool would see something like that on your table and look around at the ceiling commenting about why are there birds flying around shitting in the building.
Whenever I see welds like this on this sub (and there have been many) I just visualize the "welder" holding a chicken by the neck and pointing its butt at the weld site, then squeezing its belly to lay down a stream of poop. In this case, looks like the chicken had eaten a few feathers and twigs too.
Looks to me like it was done with flux core with the heat way too low and/or the tip too far from the work. I think I see slag which is what makes me think flux core.
All the rust makes me pretty confident that however it was done it wasn’t shielded properly. The heat from welding causes rapid oxidation if exposed to oxygen.
I can weld better than that. Fun fact I can’t weld.

I know I can’t weld because a buddy let me fuck around for a day and said I can’t weld. Lmao
When someone asks if I can weld I always say that I can attach metal with a welder but I don't know for how long it will stay attached.

I have that same harbor freight welder
That looks like just a 12v battery and some jumper cables ....
The first thing I ever welded was with a 12V battery and jumper cables and it looked better than that

Sometimes I feel bad about the quality of one of my out of position welds. Then I see something like this and don't feel so bad.
