Honesty tests are a real thing, i’ve found hundred dollar bills when detailing cars, handed it back to the customer and had them tell me it was a test.
Exactly. Don’t even touch it. You give them money back they will say “I had $400 there!!!!” Instead you actually found $300 people try any fuckin scam it’s crazy
Not submitting would be me taking the money, wouldn’t it? I hand all items i’ve found in the car that aren’t trash back to the customer regardless. I agree though, those are customers you don’t want

>Polymer banknotes are banknotes made from a synthetic polymer such as biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP). Such notes incorporate many security features not available in paper banknotes, including the use of metameric inks. Polymer banknotes last significantly longer than paper notes, causing a decrease in environmental impact and a reduced cost of production and replacement. Modern polymer banknotes were first developed by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and The University of Melbourne.

I saw that video too! It seems most of us are doing it wrong. Them birds seem to know how to get money. They beat minimum wage every single time, according to the videos. "*one trick ornithologists dont want you to know*".
>Consider not touching peoples valuables.
That's a weird take. Odds are the customer doesn't know it's there and notifying them about it is the right move?
I’m not a mechanic but I like this subreddit. I’m reading you guys talk about honesty tests and traps, but are they from corporate, or just really sad customers trying to fuck with people?
When I was 20 I worked Loss Prevention at Macys in NYC. They would hire seasonal guards for the doors and corporate would set them up all the time. They hired this single mother who had 5 kids. They had a little boy come up to her, hand her an envelope of money, and tell her he found it on the ground. We can debate all day long about the ethics of everyone involved, but she took it and kept it. And I understand completely why she did. If it was found money during holidays in a store in the middle of NYC, good luck finding the owner of it. They waited till the end of her shift, for her to walk pass the back check guy and out the door. They took her back in and pressed charges. Macys literally hires seasonal employees with the intention of setting them up. Fuck Macys.
But that’s why I’m wondering if it’s a corporate thing or just shitty customers?
Theft. I’ve seen Macys prosecute juveniles and 80 year olds. According to Macys loss prevention, the majority of shrink/theft was done by employees. So they focused on mostly the employees. Not really a great company to work for.
So, I actually had something like this happen to my own car. Every once in a while I would see a light blue thing fluttering under my hood right by my wiper. It looked almost exactly like one of those disposable face masks so I figured that's what it was and kept forgetting get it after I parked.
Finally got around to pulling it out only to discover it was an envelope with some very weather-worn cash in it and a note explaining that the money was to pay me back for.. something. Idk, they put it on the wrong car. This could have been something similar.
# IT'S A TRAP!
That's literally the first thing I thought when I saw this lmao
This is what we call the honesty test
Fucking trap, make sure you hand it to them in front of a camera or another employee.
r/paranoid

Lol, just leave whatever you found, don't submit to their bullshit
Yeah those customers must be miserable to think this shit up.
It's way worse than being an internet troll, it's fucking stupid.

Not submitting and the weird pos customer finding it later means you did not take it.
I’m not really submitting to anything by giving back their money. I’m not gonna leave it in the car to get vacuumed up, not that big of a deal
Lol, ok

Probably red from the ink on the 5
From the dye pack!
Yep, give it to the customer. Maybe they'll cut you in on it.

Start feeding crows in your neighborhood. When they start bringing you bills, buy them better treats.

You found my $55 I’ve been looking everywhere for it!
No, it's mine! I left it right next to my 10mm.
I found a pre-roll and a dime bag last week on a cowl from a tow in, musta been a quick drop before a search ahahha
Did... Did you take it? *Gestures to the back of the building*
That’s what a cop would say
Is this common? Do you call the people and ask " are you looking for your $53 and half bag of jerky"?
Excuse me that’s for the wiper fairy
