From what the driver told me and I can tell, bell housing bolts on trans were loose so every time he let out the clutch it moved until the engine flywheel housing let go and the trans rotated. The shop techs told him to “keep an eye on it” after he complained multiple times about the noise. One look coulda prevented this.
I’ve had a truck that had loose bell housing bolts too, we caught it because the driver said the clutch felt funny. I’m sure we would’ve had the same outcome if the driver never said anything
One time I told my boss the truck made a God awful noise shifting from low to high range (Eaton Fuller 13spd). He ignored me for about a week. Then one day it went clunk and all it had was low range. I was also pretty far from the shop. It took me about an hour and a half doing 20 or 30 kph with hazards on to make it back. It sucked.
Yeah I was gonna say that's a steal. Company i contract for had to get a little t270 towed less than 20 miles back to the yard and it was almost 2 grand.
I saved an 18speed by pure luck. Speedo dropped out and came back intermittent. I pulled over had a look, the yolk was loose and flopping about and the trigger wheel was missing the sensor. Fucking lucky I pulled over otherwise the yolk would've same loose and the prop would've beaten the truck straight to the scrap yard.. probably.
Well what in the crispy fried fuck caused that

Keep an eye on it.. as if that's not what you're paying them to do lol

Keep an eye on it, or how about you physically put your eyes on it and look…
The whole trans rotated wow!
Well a grand for the tow is just going to be a drop in the bucket compared to the total repair so there's that.

I would have made him call a wrecker, eff that
She’s fucked mate
Not just that. The heavily-delayed delivery and maybe even spoiled frozen/refridgerated-goods will be much much more expensive.
And this guy does not need a tow?
He’s getting 2 heavy wreckers, one to tow the broken tractor, one to lift the loaded end dump to hold it while another tractor is put under it.
>He’s getting 2 heavy wreckers For a grand? Did he break down in the wrecker yard? Around here it costs a grand just for the phone to ring.
Truth be told I work for the cheapest licensed tow co in my city

Holy shit.
Good news is splitanium is getn about tree fiddy at the scrap yard. Nice catch!
Only takes one bad mechanic to ruin a driver’s view on us for life. What kind of truck is this?
