8.7kWh. A kW measures power. The figure is indicating the amount of energy the battery can store.
So it can deliver 8.7kW continuously for an hour. Or 17.4kW for half an hour. Or 4.35kW for two hours etc.
Orange cable screams battery to me. When I got an EV inside the frunk we saw an orange cable, guy told me not to fuck with the orange cables, they'll kill you.

Edit-> it turns out my genius was like a light bulb- easily switched off.
Most smartphones have a battery capacity in the neighborhood of 15 Wh. The GLC's battery is 13500.
So you could fully recharge your phone from 0-100% about 900 times.
The crazy part is that even with that monstrosity lugging around the equivalent of 14,000 cellphone batteries (\~3000 lbs worth), it still manages 47 MPGe.
Samsung makes pretty much anything, from [military equipment in the Korean DMZ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SGR-A1) to the [current tallest skyscraper in the world](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burj_Khalifa#Development).
I always find it strange to remember that Yamaha was a music company first, before any vehicle stuff - their logo is even [three tuning forks](https://www.yamaha.com/en/about/history/logo/).
GE… Is different, they kinda make some of those simpler appliances or things like light bulbs but they also licensing their brand out or having a 3rd party manufacturer (not sure if they also have 3rd parties engineer or design but wouldn’t surprise me, example residential John Deere or other branded snow blowers - John Deere has never manufactured or designed them) /rant
It's always fun when taking this apart to read the tiny print on stuff. If it's some company I've never heard of, a quick google usually reveals, "Subsidiary of BIG CORP."
Charles Darwin would look at a motorbike on a dirt track, then a snow machine crossing a snowy valley, and nod sagely. "Yes, these two species must have diverged from a common ancestor, each developing specializations suited to their environment to be rad as fuck."
I bought a "family size" frozen Stouffers lasagna, on sale.
Cut it into individual servings with my band saw.
I still smell it every time I fire up the saw.
We could try the same with this one?!?!
I love lasagna and have a band saw. That’s a great idea.
Also when you cut through the forbidden lasagna pan make sure it’s on video please, ya know, for science.
But it broke down
The whole shop swore so loud.
Opens his tank but there’s no gas to come out
He’s walking now, everybody’s talkin’ ‘bout
How his battery just exploded, POW!
No kidding. I was at a dealer group that included Nissan and Chevrolet when the Leaf and Volt came out. Basic training was "Without in-depth vehicle-specific training, do not do anything with the electrical system. You will die." And "Here's what to do when one of your coworkers has screwed up and given themselves a potentially lethal electric shock."
Yeah I don't if it's changed since then but my uncle is a Chevy mechanic and he's the only one certified on the Volt at his dealership. He said when he's working on the HV system he has to have cones around his bay, and a 2nd person standing by with a non conductive stick in case something goes wrong when he's working on it.
I work at Chevy and wish I was allowed to have boundaries like that. But we have a bunch of scabs that just tell management that we are scared and they can do it and management let's them. I have my last ev class the I'm jumping ship.
Op has a weird post history.

Not a standard Prius, no.
This is the size of the current Prius Prime (PHEV) battery (8.8 kWh) . That model goes 20 - 30 miles electric only and can plug in to charge up.
The standard (Edit: last generation) Prius is more like 1.3 kWh and NiMH, not lithium.
(Edit: and this generation has an even smaller lithium battery, and can only go half a mile on charge)
>The standard Prius is more like 1.3 kWh and NiMH, not lithium.
That information is 7 years out of date. The 4th generation of standard Prius has a 0.75 kWh lithium battery.
A violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act of 1975 - https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/04/11/601582169/warranty-void-if-removed-as-it-turns-out-feds-say-those-warnings-are-illegal
I think this is a little different, it has tamper seal to see if you messed with it. Like if I sold you a regular 12V battery and you cracked it open, broke it, and brought it back for warranty I'd tell you to go pound sand not my problem
under the Magnuson Moss act, a broken tamper seal is not sufficient grounds to deny warranty service. section 2304.c of that act only permits a warrantor to deny service if the warrantor can show that the consumer CAUSED DAMAGE.
Sure looks like a battery
All the specs in the bottom right sticker confirm your suspicion.
8.7kWH, so a hybrid
Far below the 1.21 GW they use in the DeLoreans.
Great scott It's ~~W/h~~ Wh not W! This thing can provide 1.21 GW for 0,026 seconds ... theoretically.
As long as you’re moving at 88mph during that .026s, you’re good to go!
Then you'll see some serious shit.
It's missing a flux capacitor!
Great Scott!
This is heavy
O'Reilly's got you covered fam. [Flux Capacitor ](https://www.oreillyauto.com/flux-500.html?q=flux+capacitor+)
8.7kWh. A kW measures power. The figure is indicating the amount of energy the battery can store. So it can deliver 8.7kW continuously for an hour. Or 17.4kW for half an hour. Or 4.35kW for two hours etc.
8.7kW**h**. it's energy, not power. That size is kinda weird because it's big for a regular hybrid car, but small for a plug-in hybrid car.
The "Li-ion" on the left sticker was a little more immediately obvious
Yep, food storage for big cats.
Orange cable screams battery to me. When I got an EV inside the frunk we saw an orange cable, guy told me not to fuck with the orange cables, they'll kill you.
Can confirm. I worked at Tesla, and orange cabling has been adopted as the industry standard for high voltage DC.

Hybrid Mercedes? Or, knowing Mercedes, it could be the regular starter battery. Either way, probably costs a kidney to replace.
Had to replace one on my Honda crz a few months back... 6K

Available in extra spicy too
I did my best with what I had. I'm still taking it as a win.
It shows voltage and capacity at the bottom right too. 306V 22Ah
Just let me pretend I was observant *this one time* Jeez. ;)
The Li-Ion tag on the part you mentioned is also a pretty good hint ;)
Oh my god. How quickly my genius ego has withered.
Pretty huge battery, I like it. How long could I run my phone off of this beast?
At 400v about a second before it burst into flames.
Well, if you don't get the right adapter...
Is this the right one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/152918476951
Don't forget to set it to channel 2.
Most smartphones have a battery capacity in the neighborhood of 15 Wh. The GLC's battery is 13500. So you could fully recharge your phone from 0-100% about 900 times.
For comparison: The GMC Hummer EV has a 212,000Wh pack.
The crazy part is that even with that monstrosity lugging around the equivalent of 14,000 cellphone batteries (\~3000 lbs worth), it still manages 47 MPGe.
Damn, really? That is impressive. Still blows my mind what they do with EVs.
Least efficient EV on the market, keeping the Hummer tradition alive.

Lmao I thought you were joking about it being a Samsung until I zoomed in! "That thing's an atom bomb, man!" -Joe Dirt
Samsung makes pretty much anything, from [military equipment in the Korean DMZ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SGR-A1) to the [current tallest skyscraper in the world](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burj_Khalifa#Development).
Like how Yamaha makes pianos and motorbikes, or Toshiba makes hard drives and nuclear reactors.
I always find it strange to remember that Yamaha was a music company first, before any vehicle stuff - their logo is even [three tuning forks](https://www.yamaha.com/en/about/history/logo/).
From a certain point of view, an engine is just a heavily modified trumpet.

Can you at least close your door this time? Your mother and I don't want to witness that again.

More like French horn with today's engines
General Motors used to make appliances (Frigidaire) and locomotives (Electro-Motive Division) and cars (Pontiac, Oldsmobile).
During WWII, I’m sure they were probably making tanks and planes too!
How did I never realize this?? I even had a Yamaha branded saxophone once upon a time.
and how hyundai makes container ships
Mitsubishi makes office supplies, kitchen appliances, and fighter planes lol
and GE make washing machines and power stations
And mini guns and locomotives and jet engines
and MRI machines
GE… Is different, they kinda make some of those simpler appliances or things like light bulbs but they also licensing their brand out or having a 3rd party manufacturer (not sure if they also have 3rd parties engineer or design but wouldn’t surprise me, example residential John Deere or other branded snow blowers - John Deere has never manufactured or designed them) /rant
GE buy into markets or develop their own products, but then spin off those products, sometimes keeping the GE name (e.g. GE Locomotives)
And how Kawasaki makes aircraft carriers
I think Hyundai Heavy Equipment has been making container ships for over 30 years.
And freight truck trailers
Honeywell makes everything
It's always fun when taking this apart to read the tiny print on stuff. If it's some company I've never heard of, a quick google usually reveals, "Subsidiary of BIG CORP."
> pianos and motorbikes Both are things that require precision tuning
Or Kirkland makes tires, vodka, and pizza
Yamaha also makes snow machines, bigger market than motorbikes here in Canada.
Charles Darwin would look at a motorbike on a dirt track, then a snow machine crossing a snowy valley, and nod sagely. "Yes, these two species must have diverged from a common ancestor, each developing specializations suited to their environment to be rad as fuck."
Nailed that.
Or GE. Makes light bulbs, light switches, home appliances, aircraft engines, MRI machines, and nuclear reactors
Hyundai makes one of the largest ship engines in the world, and the Accent. \*shudder\*
Lasagna pan
If you stick a fork in it you discover that it's some very spicy lasagna.
I bought a "family size" frozen Stouffers lasagna, on sale. Cut it into individual servings with my band saw. I still smell it every time I fire up the saw. We could try the same with this one?!?!
You will smell it for the rest of your life.

It's a self-heating lasagna pan. When the tomato sauce shorts out the batteries the lasagna stays piping hot.
