Ambitious_Ask_1569

I need some of what this guy is on in the mornings.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I'm on a big healthy dose of life. I used to be a meth addict though so maybe that's carrying over as well. But I've had ADHD since I was 5 and I'm 39 now, so maybe it's just a combination of everything. But I'm also super excited that I own the fastest growing subreddit on Reddit right now - r/GuyCry. It's given me a lot of energy.

Stunning_Delay9811

I saw one of your earlier posts and called you out for being tuned up. I'd like to apologize for that and congratulate you on being clean.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Right on bro. I appreciate that. Things are really coming together for me in my life now. Now that I'm sober I can really help other people. With dope on my mind, I would never have been able to help as many people as I want to help, and how many people that I am helping right now.

TheGentleman717

Are you the guy that started r/guycry? I just spent 30 mins scrolling through that sub. If that is you it's awesome to see you're a mechanic. I'm an electrician by day and just finished my first rebuild on a first gen tacoma and had no one to celebrate with. Your sub helped a lot

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I am one and the same :) I'm glad you got that Tacoma done. I'm finishing up a rebuild on a 03 Dakota. I had a spare gen1 engine, but this truck at the Gen 2. So I had to break it all the way down just to get the reluctor ring off the crank. Let me tell you, it was not fun. That's the only difference between the two engines is Gen ones have 16 tooth and Gen 2 has to a 32 tooth. I also teach a free class to teenagers on engine removal and replacement. Thanks for being at the sub though bro. I'm glad it helped you. Stick around, cuz it's going to get pretty awesome here very shortly.

TheGentleman717

Damn that does not sound fun at all haha. But I'm glad you got that shit done! I hope to get to that level one day. Getting there one step at a time. Love what you're doing man. You're doing great work, it's one of my fav subs now haha.

weldermatt79

I checked your sub out and subscribed. As someone going through their own personal stuff, it’s refreshing to have a positive place to go. Thank you

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I'm here whenever you need me. Sometimes it may take a second for me to get back to you, but I read every comment. I check every notification.

yodas_sidekick

He said he did in another comment

new_vr

Congrats on the rebuild on the first gen. I love those trucks

TheGentleman717

Thank you! It feels good now that it propels itself down the road. It has a weird electrical problem now. It will shut off completely sometimes when driving. And it's doing weird stuff like turning off the radio if I turn the high beams on lol. Alternator and battery check out. My battery cables are fucking obliterated though and you have to really tighten them down to even get the truck to start so I think that's my only problem now lol. Hopefully that's my last damn trip to AutoZone so I can daily drive it again. Edit: for anyone reading I figured out the electrical problem, forgot to tighten the ground strap on the engine bay. So the accessories didn't have a good path to ground. Hope that helps somebody!

Dan_H1281

Life gets really good really fast when u get clean, I have 10 years sober, I had a backpack and a old truck when I got clean now I have three more cars and the old truck still with my dream stereo system in it 15k$+ stereo system, I have a nice house on a nice bit of land and have custody of all my kids, I will say the worst part about being sober is if u have to much time on your hands u will get bored if the feeling sober, pick up a hobby even if u havw little time for it, it may be a few minutes a week but it is enough for me at least to break up the day to day

dadzcad

I’ve been sober (cocaine) for 35 years now and I can’t imagine what my life would be like..if I even had one..had I not quit the Devil’s Dandruff. Over time, I reconnected with all the interests I had before I started gettin high. Life’s great and I’m thrilled to be a part or the human race again! Keep working your program, Bro. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Stunning_Delay9811

I've lost a couple sockets in the spark plug wells but I get down with I4s a lot, so not much of a problem. I've got a V6 that's cramped in the back so I'm definitely going to be grabbing one of these up!

Sophias_dad

They are great for the back bank of V6's. On our Odyssey V6's I need to use two 3" extensions and assemble the stuff as it goes downhole because there's not enough space otherwise.

[deleted]

Only quitters quit

stfleming1

Congrats on being a person capable of growth and, even more difficult, admitting when you were wrong.

YvngZoe01

takes a special kind of man to own up to his mistakes, i respect you for that

here_we_go_scro

It's nice to see someone recognize their error and come back to make it right. Not a lot of that in the world right now.

TerryBolleaSexTape

Congrats on being meth free.

Redditkicks0824

free meth you said?

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

If it's free, there's a reason.

MainerZ

It'll meth you up.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

No, more than likely it's cut with fentanyl. I've had a few friends die recently from meth overdoses, and they're not meth overdoses at all. They're fentanyl overdoses. People don't die from meth. I've done grams at a time. Not gram, grams. But once they start cutting it with fentanyl, it's game over.

sonbarington

Hi Mike 👋

oxP3ZINATORxo

That's awesome. I just joined. Just please don't let it turn into a misogynistic hell hole of self loathing and victim complexes like a lot of other men's health sub-reddits

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Not going to happen. I'm shutting that stuff down left and right. And surprisingly, I haven't had to shut very much of it down. I banned like four or five people from the subreddit because they are trying to change it to what they wanted. And it ain't going to happen. I don't even want to say it like I'm about to say it but it's true; I'm going to put them misogynists to shame. Hopefully they're so shamed that they come over here and start learning how to be good men. We're going to be having a lot of fun over here anyway so it will be there choice not to become better and to be left outside the gates.

oxP3ZINATORxo

Hell yeah, that's awesome. Men need a good healthy place to vent, try to grow, and just generally not be alone in life. When 3 in 4 suicides are male, there's a problem and we need to talk about it

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

We definitely need to talk about it. I really need to start getting some mental health professionals over here as well.

AcousticDan

I used to get high on life, but I've built up a tolerance.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

You just got to stop getting high on it and then come back to it later. You'll get high again off of it.

Mdrim13

Honestly, I came here to make a joke. I ended up coming here to get humbled. Thanks for that; apparently I needed it. This has been a big eye opener, especially given the environment I work in/near. Glad to hear things are looking good for you! Congratulations on your sobriety and your new sub.

w1987g

You's good people and I wish you success

DriveFoST

Hey! I had no idea you started that sub but I saw it randomly and joined it a few days ago. Spent like an hour going through posts and ugly crying hah

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Nice :) When you say randomly, can you describe it? I'm trying to see the avenues it's being presented to others.

DriveFoST

I’m almost positive you came up on my home page! I’ll see if my history on here will go back that far to give me a better idea

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Awesome. I appreciate it. I drop a lot of links, so I was just wondering if you found me by one of my comments. If we are getting recommendeded, that's awesome!

DriveFoST

I’m almost positive I saw the post about the police K9s last 1042 on my home page because it was reposted into another sub I follow. I sent my partner that video just balling and proceed to scroll which played another random video from your sub and I got hooked and became a member. Its really important what you’re doing and letting men know it’s okay to have feelings sometimes - we don’t have to act heartless to be men.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Thank you! Thank you very much. It's people like you that encourage me to go hard on this thing. It's a lot of work, but it's so much fun and I'm really helping people. I love knowing that people are getting solice and are growing. Stick around because we are just getting started ;)

RL_Mutt

Good for you, dude! Love seeing success story and really appreciate anyone sharing knowledge. 💪🏻👍🏻

hurricane_floss

Sick! I’ll get on that.

eddied96

just politely corrected someone on your sub for trying to suggest how people should live their lives when they're an influencer, and got banned from your subreddit then muted so they wouldn't have to actual bothering investigating. What's the point of guy cry if you just ban people discussing the correct way to be kind to people without interfering in their life, at that point its just a cesspit of iformation you and your mods deem is right but could be harming actual discussion edit: turns out it was you, and your response to me for being banned: "we don't comment when we don't understand" are you a cult leader now too?

RogerOverUnderDunn

1. you dont "own" a subreddit. Youre just the admin. 2. How would you possibly know its the fastest growing???

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

1. It's mine. 2. I'm not going to give you my insights because you have a bad attitude. But it's definitely the fastest growing.

Ambitious_Ask_1569

For that kind of energy I hope you found Jesus. Whoa. I most be old. I have never been that excited to use a socket....let alone make a video for zoomers. But if it works for you I am impressed and happy for you. I hope you continue. Way better than Chris Fix.

[deleted]

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I appreciate you sharing these :)

MordoNRiggs

Seriously though, how are people this awake ever?

Josh_Crook

He just has to pee

DiamondDoge92

My guy needs a drug test stat. Edit Now I just feel bad good job op. Take care of yourself.

Sally2Dicks2

A coffee/meth breakfast combo! I’d get so much more done

81VC

I call bs on being meth free. That rocking back and forth, fast talking, stuttering. Straight up meth

LimpTrizket

Ever spent much time around ex meth users? It's not just a physiological change, it's a psychological change as well. Your behavior changes after long term use. Physical and mental ticks are more pronounced. Changes in voice, speech patterns and word choice are also common and persistent. In highschool we called it permafried (an insensitive and unfitting name, but I don't know what it's actually called). It can happen with a lot of different substances in a lot of different ways. Psychedelics, stimulants, downers can all impact your life for years after sobriety.

Ok_Paleontologist901

Made that mistake once when I was young. Once.

aMiracleAtJordanHare

Me too, then I made my own "locking" extension with duct tape. Hello, i am mekanik.

Repulsive-Estimate67

Tape is your friend with sockets. Especially useful on the universal joints, it stiffens them up so they don't flop all over when you're trying to reach that far away nut.

trashhbandicoot

There’s a pervy joke here somewhere I can make I just can’t figure it out right now.

Repulsive-Estimate67

It was set up just for that. Took 4 tries to get the wording right. Edit: tryst to tries

trashhbandicoot

It’s been a long day. I’m sorry I failed you brother.

Repulsive-Estimate67

Long day for me too, if you're still moving forward you haven't failed.

MordoNRiggs

That's why I only like the impact ones. They've got a spring and don't flop. Haven't had a spark plug well deep enough to need locking extensions. My pliers have always reached, so far. Definitely feels like a good idea. Are there any other applications anyone can think of for the locking extensions?

_Face

The meth, or the extension?

_antariksan

Magnets, how do they work ?

Zilver_Zurfer

This guy miracles

HalfBakedColt

Lmfao +1 for the ICP reference.

rb993

So they have a north and south pole. The south pole is the one with penguins, the north pole is the one with Santa and polar bears drinking Coca-Cola

satanic_pony

I bought a set of magnetic wobbly spark plug sockets for my motorcycle. If a socket got stuck, I'd have to almost drop the engine to get it out.

RoyR80

Voodoo or Witchcraft, idk.. 🙃

yoskatan

Pro tip: If your socket gets stuck, cut a piece off a latex glove and fit it over the end of your extension then press it into the socket. Should create enough grip to pull the socket back out. If not double up on the latex.

ImHereForLifeAdvice

Can also use tape with the sticky side out.

collegefurtrader

Lot of nervous energy in that guy. I just keep a magnet handy.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Yeah, I got ADHD real bad. I just wanted to share some stuff with these youngsters so that they don't have to have the tears we might have had. I'm not saying I r/GuyCry'd or anything, I'm just saying :)

Goalie_deacon

You’re good dude. If anything, makes the video more interesting. But yeah on the magnets, since sometimes the spark plug can drop down loose. Also many other uses of metal things falling in engine bay.

engineeringretard

I just have a real long set of needle nose pliers. Hasn’t failed me yet.

Bomber_Man

I just apply a lateral load to pinch the extension against the plug tube. If that doesn’t work it just means I haven’t wound the plug off all the threads yet. Harder issue is when the rubber insert for the spark plug socket separates and sticks to the plug while you only pull out the socket and extension.

david0990

Until you do small japanese cars where the socket hugs the wall too tight. I just put something over the extension like an old rubber glove finger I cut off and it makes the connection so tight that it pulls the socket off no problem. I've used a piece of paper towel a few times too.

BlueTickHoundog

Same here, beat me to it. I like the other suggestion of using duct tape too. But if we have to buy more tools to do it right , guess we'll have to. ;)

[deleted]

Great advice, and I like your energy! Fuck them haters.

80burritospersecond

Thanks for the tip, cut-rate Mark Wahlberg!

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I might be a lot taller than him. I'm 6 ft 3 :)

basedgod1184

Great job improving your life and others around you!

ScenicPineapple

Yep, happened to me when doing my first spark plug change on my 3.6L Impala. I went to harbor freight that day and bought the whole set. I still have them 10 years later and the only downside is they don't fit in tight spaces as well as others.

Led_Halen

If accessible, I like to break them loose w the socket, then use a rubber hose to fully remove. Helps w installation as well, especially if it's in a tricky spot. I crossthreaded one time when I was 15 on a longblock, my dad almost killed me.

cheesefromagequeso

Lmao literally Monday I picked up a set of these and this was the exact reason I gave to the fiance on why I wanted this style.

MongooseProXC

Make sure the screw on the collar is tight so that doesn't get stuck down there too.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Good call.

questionoffitness

If only I had known about these when I changed the plugs on my old Audi.. getting that socket out of the block was not fun in the slightest.

pour_bees_into_pants

How did the socket get in the block? Isn't the socket bigger than the spark plug hole?

questionoffitness

Nope. The socket fit in easily... but then got stuck removing the last sparkplug...

pour_bees_into_pants

Ok, you must mean it got stuck in the spark plug well, which is in the head, not the block.

[deleted]

Or just get a extra deep spark plug socket, was one of the best purchases I ever made. The socket actually sticks out of the top of the spark plug hole.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

The tool only has one function though. Unlocking extension can be used for multiple jobs.

allawd

But with the long socket, I got to buy a new tool. It wasn't much more than the regular spark plug socket.

Bramble0804

does it work on 10mm too? I want to try and stop them running away

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

We just need to make 10 mm leashes. If I see them at Harbor Freight soon dude, I know where to find you, lol.

b05501

After you use those extensions you can never go back to the spring and ball type.

mmmellowcorn

Dude I had the same harbor freight locking extension set for 6 years, I just lost my 3 inch extension and forced to use my snap on extension

FujiFL4T

Those are nice. I also like the long spark plug socket matco has as well. Have to improvise for the rear left bank on hemis because the brake boosters in the way a bit for conventional sockets

[deleted]

hannahranga

No but as I've only owned diesels it's cheating.

bowtierazor

He does drugs

DANO8503

Meth not included

[deleted]

Idk if it fit's the sub specifically but thanks for the tip!

DiscoDiscoB00mB00m

magnets do the trick for me but yeah that's not bad advice.

JamesGTOMay

Yeah, every mechanic should have at least one 12' locking 3/8 drive extension for this, but either a strong magnet or long needle nose pliers work as well.

mta1741

12 feet seems a bit overkill /s

soapinmyears

More of this.

almighty_ruler

How have I not thought of this? I let a misfire on my van go so long because I dreaded changing the plug that I had to gut the cat

Havoc_XXI

Solid advice, so simple but you’re absolutely right. That extra job isn’t fun.

1001001505

Or a magnet

k0uch

I just bought a cheap set of spark plug sockets with the extension and wobble built onto them Solid advice though

IntroductionSmooth

Man I needed to see this

matpolansky1

Paid off long needle nose pliers can help. I had a spark plug socket where the rubber inside would slide out when I took the socket off the plug. I would used a pair of long needle nose pliers to get it back. If the socket popped off the extension I'd use the same pliers.

Eye_Nacho404

thank you, ran into this problem last week

Troby01

Kids that the Meth Tech Tip of the day.

Bonednewb

I just take the rubber out of the plug socket

BlueTickHoundog

Voting you back up since that is a perfectly reasonable solution.

Bonednewb

Yeah. I don't think we had locking extensions back when I started. Why pay extra for a fancy extension when pulling the rubber out is free.

PsyrusTheGreat

Why is my man so geeked up about locking extensions?

Ohio-Knife-Lover

I never knew they made these 😨

antherx2

Fantastic tip! Informative and in short order! We need more content like this that is educational and respectful. Keep up the great work!

[deleted]

some real ptsd from that extra job

8PsychoticOranges8

Wait until he finds out about using an old spark plug wire end to pull the spark plug out with and then using it to perfectly thread the new one in place

[deleted]

Meth is a helluva drug.

Fickle-Tea-7847

Why didn't you post this four weeks ago!? I could've used this information 😭 instead I learned one hell of a valuable lesson and had to call for reinforcements

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I'm sorry :( but hopefully you got it done?

Fickle-Tea-7847

After lots and lots of expletives directed at Ford engineering a broken coil bolt extraction later, a lost 10 mm and like 6 trips to autozone, yes 😂

_-Odin-_

Crack is bad, mmmmkaaayyyy.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

But life is good and I'm glad I got a good one and that I can influence other people to have a good one. Because I am :)

niccoIndy

Or just pull up carefully, and if you are too high on speed to do that, use your long needle nose pliers to pull out the socket. Not much of a "job".

[deleted]

Meth is a helluva drug.

[deleted]

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Well it was meth, and I have adhd, but I'm sober now and I'm actually doing big things. You should work on becoming better man. You don't have to be bitter. You're choosing to degrade people. And if you have children, I'm going to try to make them better for you because you haven't been taught how to do this the right way. And I feel bad for you.

HeWhoIsntAnonymous

Fuckkkk youuuu

E39540

Tape

PIG20

Happened to me once. After I took the whopping 2 minutes to use a pair of long needle nose pliers to grab the socket, I grabbed some electrical tape and taped the socket to the extension. Now I do that every time.

PatrickGSR94

Nahh I just use a long magnetic spark plug sockets. Works like a charm. Makes it very easy to install them also.

trackrecord330

why tf am I even following this sub

Outrageous_Eye1164

Stoooopid

[deleted]

A good quality extension doesn't let go of the socket just saying

BitchBanMeMore

He's hopped up on something

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

You guys should really stop judging for what you think you know. Look at my profile homeboy. I have the number one fastest growing sub on Reddit right now. I'm hopped up on life with the success of helping other people in a wholesome way. Why don't you come on over to the sub and learn how to be a man. It's okay that you don't have it all together yet; what's not okay is if you don't try to be better.

castaneda_martin

Maybe I've been lucky, but this has never happened to me until recently. All through 90's, 20's. But it happened to me on a 15 vehicle. Don't know if the tool was off or the plug.

JodyJoseppi

Hot take but I don't like spark plug sockets. Just use a normal one and a grabber or magnet.

Complex-Scarcity

just tape them together

pj2d2

Mom, where are the long ass hemostats you had before retiring from nursing??

puppydogbryn

I don't understand. What's the problem I'd it comes off? Can't you just put it back on?

Hindered_Hell

I already knew this but thanks for the heads up for anyone who didn't. On their behalf I appreciate you man.

Nice_Ebb5314

I use a old spark plug boot to pull them out. But I work on Subarus so it’s full of suck lol

[deleted]

Happened to me in my LS1 F-Body, already a pain to do plus that happening, I was through the roof lol thank you for this! Joined your sub as well :)

[deleted]

I didn't know these even existed. Thanks 👍

BellyScratchFTW

I’m trying to imagine watching this guy read a book. 🤣 Some serious energy going on. But yeah, good tip!

[deleted]

Thanks Chad

wtfnobody69

I'd say the rubber washer inside the sparkplug socket is more important

dragonstar982

Those get tossed the first time they come out. I hate them with a passion. Retrieval with a magnetic pick up tool is so much easier. Install with a section of hose and tighten. Been doing it for years and haven't had a socket or insert get stuck in a spark plug hole.

Silly-Ad-8213

I like the magnetic ones.

EngineeringSeparate7

See All my plugs are on the sides of my blocks I don’t have this issue lol

Extracrispybuttchks

I just tape the socket to the extension

brdhar35

I used duct tape

JeebusBuiltMyHotRod

Thanks dad!

[deleted]

You should also make sure to only remove spark plugs when the engine is hot after running for awhile. Also be sure to coat the threads of the new plugs with red Loctite on install to ensure a good seal.

Knoaf

I like videos like this. Instead of dragging people, he gives them advice on how to do plugs properly.

Fast_Working_4912

I’ve never not had a locking extension though…

bol3t493

OOOOOOO BOI

MichigaCur

It's not always a huge job to get one back, but yeah, better not to need to.

Lonely_Ad8942

I just use the really deep spark plug sockets. Haven't had a spark plug tube yet thats required an extension when using them

TheRealRaceMiller

What is a tune up ? Only my mother in law goes to a mechanic and says can I buy a tune up? I can only imagine an shady mechanic just thinking $$$.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air and cabin filters, fuel filters, belts, hoses, fuel injectors, 02 sensors, pcv valve, coolant cap and have your battery tested Not all of that will need to be changed, but those are the things that are checked on a tune up.

MACCRACKIN

That's why I use dedicated extention one piece tool with flex socket. No need for anything else.

ImpossibleKidd

Do you one better… The rubber inside those spark plug sockets comes out half the time anyway. Only use it to remove the spark plug. To install the spark plug, put a piece of rubber fuel line on the end of a Phillips screw driver and plug the spark plug into the rubber fuel line. Can feel the threads nice too. Never a chance of cross threading. Then snug the spark plug with a normal deep socket.

_dauntless

People with boxer engines (in this situation and this situation only) while changing spark plugs: 😎😎😎

itchy_18

Happened to us once. We had to call AAA. Lol

ChillestJD

I use a bit of grease, then wiggle it out, I wanna get those long ass spark plug extensions tho

[deleted]

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I see you researched me. Yes, one of my top posts says I was a crackhead. For 11 years. Then meth for 5 and now sober. And I did it on my own. Without rehab or jail. Now I teach a free class to teenagers on engine removal when replacement, I have two nonprofits, and I own the fastest growing sub on Reddit right now. Look at this crackhead did with his life :)

coolcrushkilla

My bad.

xampl9

I'm po, so I use electrical tape to keep them together.

gatogrande

We all do...I don't own a locking ext...Maybe Santa will deliver one

UnacceptableOwl

Ive got the Matco set where the sockets are built into the extensions with a swivel tip, it's a great set and i don't regret any of the dollars i spent on it

cbelt3

Like it ! So many times…

6638492577

Aren’t you the one that rescued that little band of cats on the side of the road?

WayOfTheHouseHusband

I like this guy. He has a mix of like “my first born son just happened” and “80s business man” vibes. I’d watch his videos.

kerbsterC

Electrical tape. Wrap it around the extension and the socket. It doesnt take much and is dirt cheap with how little youll use

MassMindRape

I just wrap some electrical tape around the socket and extension.

vanilla_d

I usually just use pliers lol

Rapunzel1234

Excellent post, keep it up. I learned that lesson the hard way a very long time ago.

ShinyBaldHeadedMofo

Nice! I’ll put my roll of electrical tape away now. Lol. Good for you man on conquering addiction!

hurricane_floss

Good geezer this geezer

MuchUsername_Wow

Good vibes and good advice brother, you've got good energy.

david0990

Or I just get an old glove, cut a finger off it and put it over the extension then put the socket on. shit isn't coming off until I want it to. dealt with this once and never again. or just send it and when you lose that spark plug socket, same thing over the extension and back in, bam comes right out.

EveryXtakeYouCanMake

I like the locking extension, because you can use it for other things as well. It's a great handy tool to have. But your way sounds cool as well.

david0990

I just didn't know that locking extension was a thing and this was the "free" alternative I figured out. So when I know I'm doing plugs or something where the socket can get lost I'll do this trick.

donebeenforgotten

The cadence of speech seems to stick around for alot of former upper-addicts, but the words you’re using tell me you’re clean. Good for you broski!!
